How to downgrade from Nougat 7 to Marshmellow 6.0.1 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

How to downgrade from Nougat 7 to Marshmellow 6.0.1
If you want to save the thing's you currently have on your device, then do a backup using Samsung Smart-Switch.. Because everything WILL be deleted!
First open settings and go to about phone then tap 6 to 7 times on the Build Number until you see developer mode activated. Then go back to the settings list and look for Developer Options and tap it. Now look for OEM unlock and turn it on. This step is important and NEEDS to be done or you'll have problems later, not kidding!! In the same list as OEM unlock, look for, and make sure USB Debugging is on.. Make sure you have no accounts on the phone before starting this( if you're not going to enable OEM unlock) delete all of them especially Google accounts! If you don't do this you can be locked out for 72 hours! Delete any fingerprints and lock screen pins also!! (Create your backup using Samsung Smart Switch or KIES or whichever you want BEFORE deleting any accounts!! Meaning LEAVE your Google account on the phone until your backup is FINISHED and THEN you can remove it.)
On a Windows desktop download odin(unless you already have it) and download firmware number N920VVRS3BPI1 from my Android File Host here ----> N920VVRS3BPI1 onto your windows desktop. If you use any other firmware besides the one I'm posting, it may or may not work so I suggest you use this one first.
After downloading the firmware shut your phone off (Did you make your backup and save your stuff FIRST? If not DON'T start this) and then put it into download mode by holding the volume down button, the home button and the power button at the same exact time (all 3 together). When the screen turns on immediately let go of the buttons and press the volume up button to continue. At this point odin should be open on your Windows computer, connect the phone and when you see it says added on odin you need to go into options and uncheck auto reboot, you NEED to do this! This is the only thing you SHOULD be ticking in these settings, do not tick on re-partition or anything else. Then go back and tap AP and select the firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 that you downloaded (extract it 1 time on your PC first) and after it verifies (odin might crash and say it's not responding on some systems, just leave it be it will finish and work again) then tap start and let it finish. When odin finally says PASS and you see successful 1/ failed 0 then disconnect the phone and immediately press and hold the volume down button and power button at the same time and when the screen comes back on select factory reset and after its finished the phone will reboot on it's own and you're done and booting back to Marshmallow 6.0.1.
If you don't follow these steps correctly you're liable to get stuck or something else and your phone is not my responsibility if you do something wrong and it doesn't work it's because you made the conscious decision to do it likely you'll have no problem with this if you follow directions!!! I did all the testing on my own Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Verizon model before posting this and did it several times to be sure it worked correctly.

can you help me please with Note 5
can you help me please with Note 5
I have bought a Samsung note 5 from Dubai and it is working on my sim card at Egypt internationally for 5 months without problem.
I discovered that it is a Verizon modified to work internationally!!!.
However I was going to sell it and i did a factory hard reset to delete my personal data then the night mare began.
First of all the phone stuck at the set screen of accepting the terms and never reached the point where i can input my google email and password, whenever I accept the terms it get back to the first screen of language selection.
then i tired some pc applications to bypass the FRP lock but one of them made an uncomplete download which give an error and i can only enter the odin download mode nothing else ??
My question now is will your firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 solve this problem and let me use my local/international sim card line as before or shall it get me back to Verizon original firmware that is locked only to their lines ??

an update :
I have installed the firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 and it was amazing and working very well .... although it started with Verzion logo at beginning where i had a nightmare ha ha ha ... but after start every thing was ok and the sim card was accepted from Vodafone.

Just so you know you're using the wrong firmware on that phone because it's a N920F not a N920V that phone has an unlocked bootloader and can be rooted with chainfires root and it can pretty much accept whatever firmware because of the unlocked bootloader.

But does this mean that I can install firmware from N920C for example ??
And I can upgrade to Android 7 ?
And still my Sim card from Vodafone can be working without being locked ????

nope. This is a verizon phone. Just look at the baseband or bootloader. I have the same phone and it can be flashed by verizon firmware only..

Bootloader is locked. And there is not such model of note 5 like 920f. I don't know how sellers rename n920v to n920f... My phone now on official nougat QB9 and works flawlessly.

There is a F model it's the international one.
SM-N920F
And it says Verizon now because he flashed the firmware from my android file host account.
Personally I don't think the phones real because that F version usually means that it's a knock off from Thailand.

In Europe galaxy note 5 is N920C. F version is a Verizon version, just аltered by unknown way. N920F version never existed only as a disguised N920V. Just google it and you will see. There is no official firmware for "N920F".

I know but as I said the F version is usually a knock off from Thailand. Personally I don't even think it's real because if the bootloader is locked then how did they get it to say F? The only way to do that is to open the phone and change the chip inside because there's no way a real Verizon Note 5 would be able to do that.

You should download something called phone info for Samsung so you can make sure the phone is real and not a knock off.. It should have the same exact specs a real one has and if it doesn't it's probably a fake one.

the phone info app is showing a real phone data ...... but when I enter the digits #*0*# it doesn't bring the test screen and the code *#06# doesn't show the IMEI .... is this normal for the Verizon phones ????

I may give this a go. Since receiving a replacement phone fr my original overheating one and getting Nougat update, this phone has been a pain...a real pain. Making phone calls activates the external speaker. I have to tap the speaker icon 3 times to get the ear piece speaker going then when call is answered it kicks back to the external speaker. Very fun in restaurants. Using Bluetooth radio while driving....forget it. Gmail will not download automatically. I'm about to go back to my Note 2.
Sorry for hijacking this thread.

You just killed your EFS :/
You still got a chance:
you can stay with the leaked rom, but you will have to install the latest "modem" (included in rom failed to install) while you keep the romactually installed
thats the only way it can be lucky and may be EFS get back to work may be. I suppose you dont have any EFS backup, so if restoring it fails that way --> you will have to get it repaired. Will be at least 40$ i think...
There a many posts on xda about EFS, but once gone, it is gone. Feel free to read some hours about it

1. IMEI code is not messed up (it's the same as the one on on the package);
2. I still have carrier signal;
3. I can lock the sim card by pin code
Do you know other signs that would lead to the conclusion that the EFS file is broken ?

Carrier free it means that my phone it's not sim locked in any network. My phone is working fine. I just want to install an official ROM not to stay with the leaked one. I want to install the one for my country so that when I connect to samsung kies via PC the csc and pda of my phone to match up in order to receive updates or to simply for KIES to recognise my phone. The bottom line is that I find it strange that I can't flash 4.4.2 product code COA (Romania) I9505XXUFNB8.

Thats due to its a branded rom you tried to install (COA = cosmote branded).
Here is the unbranded version you need (ROM = unbranded for your country):

Extremely weird stuff going with S6.

Hey, so I just bought a second hand s6. When purchasing I only checked the major hardware stuff like everything in *#0#* and the calling etc and didn't bother to check other stuff which is stupid on my part. Anyway, when I got home and tried to use themes nothing happened. The Theme Store button didn't do anything when I tapped it and still didn't work after I added a samsung account and everything. There a bunch of other issues as well such as all the options in the System Update menu being pretty much useless, they all did nothing when I tapped on them.
Sorta got fed up of all this and decided to do a factory reset. Once I get back into the phone after reset, the screen grid option that you get when you pinch in was greyed out which is really annoying since the 4x4 is just not for me. Then I decided to root it so I can just get a custom rom in and get rid of all these issues altogether but when I got into download mode it said the phone's version is G920P instead of G920F. The guy I bought from said it's the international G920F and it even says G920F in the about phone section. The confusing thing is that it instead says G920P when I get into download mode. I don't even know what it is anymore, is it sprint or is it international ?
Anyway, is there any fix to all the issues I've been having like the screen grid option being greyed, the system updates menu being useless and the theme store not working at all.
Also, what do I do about rooting and roms ? Do I treat it as a sprint variant or an international variant? It'd be a pretty massive bummer if it's sprint since there are pretty much no worthwhile roms for me.
Pls halp
Here's all the stuff it says in About Device:
Model Number: SM-G920F
Android version: 5.1.1
Baseband Version: G920FXXU2COH2
Kernel Version: 3.10.61-5496010

This bad or good ? ;-;
Also worth mentioning that it says 920F on the back as well. Would flashing the whole stock firmware of 920F through odin be a feasible option ? It says 920F on the back so it has to be that variant right ? If this is possible please direct me to a firmware I should flash and a guide of how to do it, bit of a noob here.
Bumping this up before going to sleep, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
When I get mine s6 there was a sticker at the back showing its serial number. It's written on its box also. If you have this you can use Samsung kias to flash the firmware designed for your phone.
There's an S/N at the back, I'm assuming this is the serial number. I want to root and install some custom roms though but I'm not sure how to go about doing that since I don't know what version my device exactly is.
Pls halp
Attached a screenshot with more info. Hope this helps.
I'm not sure what the previous owner did but your device code name zerofltespr is P variant.
I see, so I should treat it as a sprint variant for rooting and custom roms then ? Just making sure before I go through with the stuff so I don't brick the phone.
Also, anyone got up to date links for how to root and install custom recovery on the sprint version of the s6 ?
@Skyrus5150
Download the Phone Info app for Samsung, take a screenshot and post it here.
Settings show G920F, that can be changed by editing build.prop but the back cover shows 920F as well? That's the odd part.
The previous owner has somehow got the device name to show zerofltespr which is a G920P (Sprint). Not sure how he got a CDMA device code on a GSM device.
Boot into Download Mode, see what it says there, that can't be changed as far as I know.
It will show the actual model number, whether it's 920F or 920P.
Here you go, what should I do. Yeah the bootloader says 920p but the back is 920f, maybe the phone was opened or smith.
Pls halp
Downloaded root checker, according to it the phone's rooted as well. Downloaded TWRP Manager as well, should I just go ahead and install custom recovery with it and select S6 Sprint in the device options ?

Rooted with 0x0 KNOX, some dark magic is at work here. Maybe engineering bootloader?
Anyway, just download a G920P stock firmware and flash it. Then proceed to do a factory reset/data wipe in stock recovery and have your phone back to normal, which is a G920P.
Back says G920F, but it should show an IMEI and S/N as well, do they match those of your phone? I'm certain they don't, but still... check.

LOL, the back says 920F but I entered the IMEI into two different checking services and they both show it as a 925F (S6 Edge), this phone is going places.
Anywho, the stock firmware is supposed to be flashed through odin yes ? Could you please link me to a guide and links to download, maybe even let me know which specific firmware I'm supposed to install. Sorry, I'm a former LG user and I have no idea how Odin and all these shenanigans work. Also, the phone will remain unlocked even after flashing stock firmware, yes ? Currently using it in Pakistan.

Screwed up my SM-G930VL, please help!!

Hi,
I bought a SM-G930VL (tracphone branded, but verizon compatible) galaxy s7 for a pretty good price, however the advanced and wifi calling were not options (even though verizon told me they were before I purchased). I decided I would try to flash the VZW firmware from sammobile through odin, but it did not work. It originally gave me the ext4 error, but then flashing the csc fixed that. I then flashed the AP file, but it finished very quickly (about 3.5 min) and now will only boot into recovery when powered up.
Is there anything I can do to save my phone, or have I permanently screwed it up?
Thanks
holy sh*t got it working. Flashed the BL, AP, CP, and CSC files and it booted to welcome screen!!
Thanks all (and hopefully this helps anyone in the future who runs into this predicament)
It is currently checking wifi connection so hopefully all is well!
Edit: Is there a way to edit the title? That way this could be maybe help the next person rather than getting ignored.

Hi, want to ask a few questions. were you able to fully flash the Verizon firmware to this model with no issues? The phone is also supposed to be factory unlocked per my connections with reps.
Did the phone fully change to a SM-G930V, showing in settings and in Odin mode?
Yes I was able to fully flash Verizon and I have working wifi calling and advanced calling. In settings it shows up as V not VL as well. As far as I understand it is the exact same hardware just different software running on it

Great, i flashed one yesterday for a friend via teamviewer and even changed the model as SM-G930V in odin mode. So I guess due to this the phone has now a locked bootloader and ended up being converted to a full Verizon galaxy S7. Only thing it did not take his Metro PCS sim card. Unsure it would take any other carrier sim cards.

It seems it was as it allowed me to flash the verizon bootloader and full firmware. Normally tracfones only allow to flash part of a firmware and rejects all bootloader partitions.

There were reports of someone flashing the phone to an SM-G930U (Unlocked US S7). So apparently they are interflashable. I however have not gone to that extent as am yet to get my one to thinker with. I flashed previously to a SM-G930V via teamviewer for a friend. You can search the threads and verify.

You probably figured it by now, but MetroPCS is the only retarded carrier that locks SIM to IMEI. So if you want to use MetroPCS on any other phone than the one you currently have it on, you need to call customer service and give them your new phone's IMEI. Then your new phone will start working. If you want to switch back to your old MetroPCS phone you need to call them again and give them that IMEI, which is retarded. I don't know why they do that but it's really annoying if you frequently switch phones.
I have a 935V (S7 Edge Verizon) and now have 935U ROM on it using Tracfone. Initially I have Tracfone's Verizon service but I wanted the freedom to easily move from one phone to another so I converted it to a Tracfone-GSM(ATT) and been using it in my Verizon S7 Edge (with 935U ROM) and iPhone SE without any problem.

Hi,
I bought a SM-G930VL (tracphone branded, but verizon compatible) galaxy s7 for a pretty good price, however the advanced and wifi calling were not options (even though verizon told me they were before I purchased).
Thanks

Could you add links to everything you used? I have the same model using straight talk and I want to be able to have a backup firmware to flash in case I ever mess up my phone (which seems to be a trend). And have you had any issues at all? Like, does everything work okay?

Possible to convert flash SM-G930U firmware on a SM-930P?

Hey guys!
Yesterday I got a Sprint carried S7 SM-930P as a gift. The only problem is that although it works flawlessly on my sim cards (I'm not in the US), I found out that the 930P won't get the 7.0 update. Is it possible to flash the G930U firmware without messing my phone up?

I wouldn't do it unless your absolutely sure, I wouldn't be so sure if it's for a different model number. If they were able to have the same firmware flashed Samsung would just release it, they obviously didn't because it requires extra effort, pointing towards the conclusion that the firmware is not flashable on 930P

You can flash it, i have done it myself. There are many guides over here that tell you how. All S7s in the USA are the same exact thing hardware wise, only the software (firmware) is different. Am currently running SM-G930U firmware on an SM-G930VL S7. @op the sprint s7 (SM-G930P) already has android 7 as of last 3 weeks

Hey guys. I was able to flash the sm-g930u firmware downloaded from sammobile... the problem I have now.. I have a blank csc. No product code.. and on software updates it fails to register my device. Also in settings . I have some weird options. Which some of them are repeated. I will upload screenshots.. Also there's a system UPDATE option and also software option. Which one of them fails to register and the other only works with Wi-Fi. Should I revert back to my stock sprint firmware. If so do I need to wait for a firmware with same build date or newer. Because on sammobile haven't uploaded a firmware with a build date on par with the current install. Then I would have to wait right. ? If using a older firmware it will brick or do something to my phone ?

Hey Buddy. I would recommend doing a full back up on your phone., using Smart Switch app
It saves all your numbers, message, etc..
Then proceed to flash the latest firmware for the Region or Provider. Using (CSC) not (home_csc) which means flashing the csc will wipe your phone data. Phone will be like new again. Proceed tru set up. Loggin in gmail. Proceed to update smart switch app if not found in apps. Then restore from the back up file. And good to go.

actually all S7 are not the same hardware fyi. The Sm-g930p has chipsets snapdragon and uses cpu procesaor quad core but the sm-g930F has the chipset Exynos8 cpu is octa-CORE the chipsets vary from these two. Flashing firmware for one chipset to the other may cause major problems bot to mention bootloops.. but I looked up sm-g930U and it uses the same processor as the P model.snapdragon

He said all S7's in the USA are the same, which is correct. Exynos/930F isn't sold in the US, only way to get one is to grey import.
You can flash any USA model's firmware onto any other USA model because they're all the same hardware.
anyone running the 930p with current update how did you get around the binary 6 lock all the 930U firmware versions I can find are binary 4 I think t-mobile is 5. Anyone got links to a firmware we can push to sprint variants that are binary 6.

You can't get around it. It is currently impossible to "downgrade" the bootloader binary version. All US carrier variants are version 4, except Sprint that is 6. You are stuck.
The only way it would ever be possible is if (a) one of the carriers, in a future software update, increases their bootloader version to 6, or (b) if someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader for the Snapdragon models.
Neither of those options is likely to happen, ever. You might get lucky and hope the G930U unlocked version has a higher number (it hasn't been released for Oreo yet), but I wouldn't bet on it.

Blame Sprint; there is really no reason for them to do what they did except keep users from switching their phone to another carrier. This isn't a Samsung thing. I don't believe you would be able to do this with any other Android phone, either (i.e. go backwards in bootloader versions).

Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F with G930V Bootloader??

I recently bought S7 SM-G930F, but when I went into it's phone info and recovery, I saw that it has a Verizon bootloader. All the rest is of 930f. even the phone says 930f everywhere. I am not sure what this is. I am also facing some signal dropping issues, especially when I switch on to data network. I did the refurbishment check and it came out clean and original.
Can someone please guide me how to fix this? Perhaps a way to change the bootloader to that of 930F without screwing up the phone?
Please find the pics attached for reference.
Thanks in advance for the help.

you phone is a verizon see the snapdragon chipset and the baseband version
either you have flashed a phone with G930F kernel and rom
or whoever sold this to you tried to scam you
dont flash the F bootloader
Your phone is the verizon version which are much cheaper in comparison to the unlocked exynos variants
Flash verizon rom to get back proper caLL functions

Thanks for the response. I think I got scammed then. Two things though:
1) It somehow seemed to work the 1800 band for 4g, which is supported by 930F and not 930V I believe.
2) secondly, even the back of my phone says 930F .. like everything about it says 930F .. like is even the body changed??

I flashed S7 Verizon Sm930v Android 7.
Firmware - G930VVRS4BQC9
Process is simple if u know how to use odin its like regular flash.
And yes this firmware comes with all the verizon bad stuffs but good thing is that most of them can be disabled.I wouldnt care if i wanted to use Nought on my phone.
Still network signal is poor though.

so I successfully managed to flash the Verizon rom. Now my question is, can we altogether remove Verizon and have some debloated or 930f bootloader/rom instead? I saw one video where he converts 930v to 930f but he gave no links to the files he used.
