Hi all
I have a new kernel for you.
It has all the features that kernel in Corvus5 rom has plus:
1) Blue light fixed
2) CPU overclocked to 1.5 (see picture below, we beats Xoom )
3) Xpad added to kernel (not more module load)
4) May have some less battery draining, but not tested.
About overclocking, if you have setcpu installed, press menu, select device and choose that setcpu autodetect freqs. It really works. It may work with any other cpu overclock utility, but is not tested.
Install as allways with CWM.
Link: http://www.multiupload.com/BOCMUM8TWP
Link (for STOCK): http://www.multiupload.com/EWW24XJO9E
NOTE: By default this kernel OC the cpu to 1.5Ghz. I try to change to 1Ghz, but doesnt work. This can harm the cpu if is always at this speed, so install any of the oc tools (setcpu, CPUMaster, etc.) in market to change it back to 1Ghz.
Corvus.
PS: Thanks to Buzz and pershoot for the work they made in the kernel...
BTW do u have any idea what te standard use of the blue light is there's no cut out in the frame for it ?

Sorry didn't have my glasses on.... lol flashing right now
hi fella,
thought I would give it a go anyway. Flashed zip from sdcard via CWM...
Boots back into rom fine, but the screen is working back to front. When I'm in horizontal mode.. the vega shows vertical and likewise the oposite way.
I've used the rotation lock which allows me to use it the right way and the touchscreen still functions ok. I have also downloaded an app called CPU Master Free. I ran this before the flash and it said 1000Mhz.. now after the flash it says 1500Mhz.. Awesome.
so it's working, just wondering if you have any idea a rotation being back to front.

btw.. being honest, I did install your Corvus5 rom.. but not kean on the status bar graphics and colours.. a bit too fancy for an old fart like me hence dropping back to the R8 rom with VTL Launcher.
1500mhz BABY!!!!!! thisis really cool.....
What is the speed in the test, I'm getting 4625 on CyanogenMod 7 set at 1400Mhz(build 61)

I have the same problem.
Screen rotation problem is due to stock ROM. Corvus promised me to make a version of this kernel for stock ROMs as well
My solution for the moment:
After boot I turn my Viewpad until the screen is in the orientation that I want, then I switch the screen lock to on. Good enough for me, as I use my tablet 99% in landscape mode.

Hey lads
because my bloody banking app I can't have my onePlus rooted, if I remove superSU can I still keep the synapse profile active?? I am using mixmash v11 profile with AK kernel to extend the battery life..
Thanks guys!

Hello mate
unfortunately Barclays made it tough!
I have unrooted and removed synapse, exodus with AK should be ok.. I still have 100% after 3 minutes.. that's a good sign usually after 1 minutes was already at 99%
the only issue now is the system profiles that crashes the settings app when I make a new app group..that's annoying!

You can run Exodus without root, just choose the full unroot option in SuperSU. You can't run Synapse without root though so you'd have to run the stock AK settings. What's wrong with the system profiles on Exodus? They work perfectly for me.

For those of you that don't know Viper4Android is the probably the best sound mod you can do on any android phone, I can confirm that it works on the Note 5 as my listening experience in the car has greatly improved
Prerequisites
-Must be rooted
-Skyhigh or arter97 kernel flashed
-If no custom kernel is flashed selinux must be set to permissive using the selinux app found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524485
-Download Viper4Android from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Steps
1. Download and install this zip through recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...achment.php?attachmentid=3470840&d=1442036930 (Credits to Critical Detox for finding it)
2. Launch Viper4Android and install the driver and reboot
2a. I highly recommend using this IRS. http://d-h.st/VBM
That should be it to get it working, S6 users have commented that you have to freeze a couple of apps for it to work but I can confirm that's not the case. If you have any questions or need suggestions feel free to ask

Now I cannot get it to process when clicking on driver status it usually says "yes".
I am using a deodexed tmobile rom with Noble kernel. The SELINUX changer says I am permissive but viper4android doesnt want to work.
Any suggestions?

Interesting. Are you running in compatible mode, then?
I envy all of you for getting to use Viper, I'm trying my best to hold out until I can try Samsung pay beta/release which ever comes first to me then I'll decide to root only after.
I've been wondering this for a while now. I noticed in the OP, there was a choice to use a custom kernel or stay with the stock one. Obviously, we need root to get Viper working BUT do we really need a custom kernel to root 5.1.1. On the Note 5? I'm asking because BOTH of my cars miss Viper from my Note 4 and I'm hearing the current Kernels are causing a few issues with the Note 5, thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Adolfo. Are you having any issues with the Noble Kernel? People are reporting things like battery drain, rebooting and or loss of certain features, Netflix not work, etc. I miss Viper but I would like to know that my phone would be fully functional after root. Also, it seems as if only a few Kernels work with the new firmware that was released yesterday.
Keeps getting more complicated. haha.

While I appreciate the help, Brava, I was responding to Adolfo's recommendation of using the Noble kernel due to it being close to stock. My question was if he's having any issues with that Kernel.
I've used Viper since it's inception so I'm fully aware that it has nothing to do with any of the aforementioned symptoms.
Thanks though.
Hey guys!
Power users already have custom kernels and ROMs, and it is possible to tune some advanced settings with and without root, so what did you modified on yours?
A lot of users reported performance issues and others just want more features, more efficiency, etc. Of course, there are those who just likes the device the way it comes from Motorola or don't want to void the warranty.
With all this diversity, I created this thread for we discuss what is the best setup for our device and how can we extract the best of it.
Curently mine is with stock ROM, Xposed, GravityBox and squid's custom kernel.
This setup provides me all Moto features, plus lots of features with GravityBox. I think that the performance is better, because I changed some settings with Kernel Adiutor.

Since each person uses a phone in a way, my idea was to create a space where people could tell which ROM, kernel, apps, themes and other things they use and share the benefits they get. This would make possible to all Moto X Play owners discover new things that could improve the user experience and everybody would win.
Stock rom, greenify, amplify (xda thread for great battery), lspeed mod. Works fine for me

Totally worth it! X Play doesn't have good performance with the stock ROM at this time. There are lags that we don't expect to find on a device at this price range. With Cyanogenmod the UI is very smooth. There are still some lags, but they're normal because we don't have a device with a Snapdragon 8xx. I can say you that with CM, the performance is just as good as you could expect of this hardware (and it's very good). If you are going to flash, I also recommend the squid kernel. It's great.
Here is the index of Moto X Play on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/17-10-t3227295

The only problem I *think* some people have is that on certain wi-fi networks, the wi-fi driver prevents the phone from sleeping. I said *I think* because I don't have this issue and because of this I'm not sure whether it's already solved or if the problem persists. I suggest you to read at least the last pages from the threads of CM and the kernel for you to be sure.
What I can say is that for my usage, I have absolutely no problems. Everything works fine.
i'm using RR 5.5.8 + squid kernel latest update, greenify + amplify, working fine

Flash TWRP, root the device then check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/help/xposed-t3191338/post63940401 to be sure which version to use.
Basically, flash the zip provided and reboot :good:
For the first time waiting a little before rooting this phone, since 6.0 is rolling out soon.
As of today mine is running quite smooth on stock 5.1.1
Just disabled all unused/useless apps,
limited the connections and data usage with Netguard and Opera max.
Will keep you posted.
Hey guys.
First of all, I would love to express my appreciation to those who selflessly help the army of handless and brainless users of the amazing phone which we're all united here because of.
Secondly, I would like to leave a question.
Is there any way to implement the double-tap-to-wake with XZP on the stock firmware?
I'm pretty sure this gesture is available on most FWs based on the "pure" android, which also means:
-gb DRM
-gb stock camera app
-gb nice video recording with the best stabilization
-farewell 960fps video shooting
-forget about the OTA updates
...fairly, at the same time there are many benefits, like
-gCam, RAW photo/video shooting
...xposed, Viper4Android
etc. But, still, what exactly is the problem with the XZP that it doesn't support the DT2W feature?
You can get dt2w using the Androplus kernel. However, that requires you to unlock the bootloader.
I read that Sony just removed the feature itself. I miss that feature on the Z2 and Z5, but imo it's fine since my phone's screen kept turning on in my pocket.

-Androplus kernel, isn't it too old by now?
-sony must be really so stupid to not be aware that they can implement the proximity sensor check on dt2w, which doesn't let the screen turn on even if the power btn is pressed while the phone is in the pocket or elsewhere when it really shouldn't turn on the screen because of an accidental activity.

Yes, basically anyone can do that.
I personally prefer the stock fw. Mostly because of the camera. AOSP doesn't use Sony's camera api, sooo the image quality won't be the same. Besides, you won't be able to use the 960 fps super-slomo either.
Even on older phones, I've always preferred stock fw. It's close to pure android anyway. I have tried AOSP builds before, and always ended up going back to stock.

I use gravity screen app to wave above the screen to turn it on instead of double tap to wake. Has more helpful features too.
Waveup wakes the screen and is almost the same as DT2W. It has lots of positive feedback from the XZ1c thread.
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-9538931-1-1.html
If you can translate, understand and try, maybe it works.
With regard to waking up the phone with the proximity sensor it is already possible to do so with mrom
