Yes, I did not realize it but we have official dualboot pactcher support for our redmi note 4 mtk! You must be root and have TWRP installed

It is a very good news since we can test the Lineage os without compromising our main rom.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1- Make a backup with twrp before doing anything, in case something goes wrong or you just want to remove the dualboot by restoring the backup later
2-Enter the dualboot Patcher App that is downloaded from the source link that I have put before.
3-Open the drop-down and give it to roms. We will skip a notice to fix the kernel to the rom, we accept it
4-then we give the three dots and will open a tab, go down the whole and select update ramdisk and when we press reebot now
5-return to the drop-down and this time we give a patch zip file, select the zip of the rom that we want to install as a secondary and in partition configuration we select Secondary and give it to continue (If you have MIUIactivad the documents app first) and start Patch the rom
6- The application will patch the zip. When finished, return to "ROMs".
7- Click on "Flash zip files" and select the patched zip
8-Select "Keep Location". Now confirm the flash with the button at the top right.
How to start in the secondary rom?
It's very simple, what you have to do is:
1- Go to the rom section
2- Click on the ROM in which you want to boot. You should see the message "Change ROM". After a few seconds, you should see a report message stating that "ROM changed correctly".
3- Now make a normal restart of your device.You should boot to the ROM that you activated step 2.
4-Install the dualboot patcher app in the secondary rom to switch back to the primary rom whenever you want
F.A.Q.
-Update the primary ROM?
Patch the zip of the update for primary and install it.
-Update a non-primary ROM?
Patch and flash the update zip exactly as it was the first time.
Flashing a mod or a custom kernel for the primary ROM?
Patch as primary before flashing.
-Flash a mod or a custom kernel for a non-primary ROM?
Just patch the same as the rom as the first time and flash

Wow, this is great news. A lot of people are so down on the MTK version due to the lack of development, which admittedly is far behind the snapdragon model, but this just shows that its not as completely dead as some like to make out. As others have mentioned this is great for testing out the aosp/CM roms without sacrificing your main daily driver rom and having to wipe everything.

That's weird. I tried both MIUI int. Global and an aosp. Both fail to update ram disk on the primary position. I filed an issue on github, still no answer.
Btw the nikel is not listed in the supported devices. Why?

2. If I still can getting OTA update for official MIUI Global ROM, will the Dualboot patcher still works after every patch?
I am really interested with LineageOS but would like to keep the Official MIUI Global ROM.
Sadly it doesnt work correctly it boots me to Mi logo beeps 5 time then back to recovery :/

No, this is a port of the normal Chinese version. No gapps.
Opengapps flashes but messes things up.
I'll be playing with it in the next couple days as i'm able (traveling for work) just to hack play store onto it, but when I return home I'm going to cook up a debloated ROM based on this one, including gapps. Stay tuned...

Day job dominating my life these past months.
Miui works fine for me and others. Sounds like a bad flash or other reasons to me. I find Miui more stable and a bit faster than the stock rom.

I've tryed this rom into my i15-T and all is allright without one thing: ingame, I've 5fps (Dokkan battle as example) or I can't open "Super Cell" games...
GPU drivers are included into this rom?

i'm new here and never post any comment yet! so please help
my journey start when my, cube iwork10 type c, memory on android was full..... so I jump in to windows side and just start to OPEN partition map, I never got close to change anything.... everything freeze on me, reboot, ....and since trap in boot loops.....of course no recovery from cube...... my mind was set to wipe everything and going to full android no more dual boot.
I got the twrp, the 2 miui files and boot in twrp ,advance wipe the 3 top box, flash both files, cross my fingers and........ still in my boot loop.
by my limited knowledge I believed my bootloader is open it says unlock on the cube "recovery" page?
I'my bricked.... lock from cube I got a with a lot of Chinese symbols.... when try to load in windows?
or my pick I f.... up the partition and nothing is going anywhere......???

In the OP Point 7 of installation guide. That installs MagiskSU. Just install magisk manager to control root.
I'm coming from epic global ROM, do i still need to do the formatting?
Edit: by format system, do you mean factory reset or formatting the entire SD card where all files will be erased?

I ordered my Mix and it should arrive next week..and I was only DREAMING of CM14.1 build, as I'm not too fond of the "no drawer" Xiaomi does with the ROMs. Also Pixel Launcher is so nice to use!

This is so exciting. Can't wait to try. My device was unlocked when I got it, but when I flashed the global software, I didn't realize that wipe and lock was ticked. So now my bootloader is locked. Since it is tied to the mi account and not the device, I have to wait for them to okay it. And they seam to be in no hurry. Silliest way ever for unlocking. Anyone know a way to speed up the process?

Is there a "defaults" setting under apps settings? If so, you have to choose a default phone app.

I did know that, am not noob in this.
However this rom caused my phone to go sloooow which I didn't recover even after wiping and formatting EVERYTHING and going back to stock. It is now unresponsive, laggish and can't even open most apps, wherever rom I go. Yes, after wiping everything and restoring stock, flashing other recoveries, and going full-pro with fastboot and adb commands
I do not know what this Flyme did, maybe it was just bad luck or coincidence for me, but my phone is dead and irrecoverable now. And I read in 4pda some Russian guy saying something similar about not being able to boot recovery after newest build, so it may be rom-related as it seems, be extremely cautious with it people
Refllash with miFlash using edl mode. Should work.

I am on it but the .zip for klte users you uploaded didn't boot it, the Miui zip alone let it boot fine. Everything works, Thank you. [/B]Edit... sometimes when I hit the home button or recents button on an app (ex. Messaging, but also happened to me on Snapchat) it freezes for about 5 seconds and then restarts. I also from time to time encounter Sim card issues. Everything is good BUT the messaging where i can receive messages but can never send.

With this Rom I was not able to open apps like faster GPS or Adaway, and my location only worked with second flash.. I also had very poor signal quality, which may be caused by my old modem, but on aosp Roms I did not have any problems.

I also had a problem with disabling permanent notifications, but battery life and smoothness seemed great

The wifi/data icons are on the upper left, the clock center clocked.. How can we change that ?
plus i'm having issue with push notification of Yi Home app with this rom .. (no problem on global 8.8.9)

Follow "Masik Channel" on Telegram, there is a Zip to go back to stock miui style called "whyred miui style"

I didn't have that problem on other roms.. Splashscreen also persists from this Rom for the roms flashed after. As I said, I would like to have a confirmation if that is a problem on my end, then I will try to flash it again

Can I flash 2.3 with dirty flash when coming from 2.2?
Or do I need to clean flash? Anybody know?

Thanks but what about the push notification from Yi Home that i'm not receiving ?
I think it come from Mi Framework Services , because on AOSP Yi Home push notification is handled by the app itself but on xiaomi device it's handled by Mi Framework Service i don't know why, and it seems that it's working on Global Beta but not on Chinese based beta
Would anybody kindly let me know if this ROM force-encrypts?

Yes you can. Just like when you install ota's.

Masik rom doesn't affect bootloader at all as firmware files, thus bootloader related files, are removed from the zip. So I believe you will be ok.
