What is the link for refurbs?
60,000 units times perhaps 70% returns = about $4.2 million cost for refurb sale and handling costs (minimum).
Not seeing how this ends well.... Perhaps people will learn not to release a product not ready and then release a very half-hearted update, while a few people that are not even paid make it a near great product.
I wonder if Viewsonic has accrued for this hit to their P&L in 2011? Viewsonic is nuts if they think Kmart / Sears, Office Depot and Staples will eat these costs.
All they have to do is get rid of Tap, add the Nvidia drivers, Flash and do something about the disaster of an app market portal. That last one is the hardest, but the others can be done NOW- not 12/19, which will probably be another half-hearted effort.

My guess is Viewsonic may see a bunch of returns by retailers before sold to customers, but I did not expect the device to be pushed during BF, either.

Is there a way you can reserve these before driving to the store and purchasing it? I'd hate to purchase it, drive to the store, and it's gone..
Buy it online, the store confirms the unit is there, then they charge your card. You get an email that says it's available for pick-up. and you drive to get it. If its already gone, you don't get charged.

The online site doesn't give me an option to buy it, just print out a page w/ a tracking number and goto the store. I called the store and the manager and sales associate seemed kind of clueless about sears outlet, and said they didn't have any in stock..?
EDIT: I see now that you have to "Add to Cart" to reserve the item and order it online. Here's hoping I got it!
just tried to buy the one from marlborough, MA and I ordered it at 9:30 AM and the store does not open till 10 am. I still got an out of stock email T.T
I am willing to pay someone if they can get one for me. There are none in my area.
Well, I placed an order online and went to the store for pickup (fairfax, va), and on my way there I got a call that the product was defective and being sent back to viewsonic. Seeing as how I was almost there, I just went to the store. Spoke with the manager and got the same schpeel. "The customer returned it for an issue with wifi."
So, one has to wonder why it was up for sale if there was a problem with the wifi, and how they magically knew there was a problem after me calling and inquiring about it. It would appear that perhaps someone else wanted the tablet who works there, but who knows. Perhaps I should have just taken it and tested out the wifi on my own but I opted not to.. Moral of the story, don't call the store.

That is probably the unit I returned after I thought I bricked it....lol. Loving my pad and wish I could pick up another cheap one.
As of 1:30 pm Eastern, they are all gone except the lonely one in upstate NY that has been there for a couple of weeks. Its amazing to me how these units sold out so fast. I still need another so I check the website a couple of times a day.
Yes, they are all gone. I was able to buy one, but i had to drive 180 mile one way, so I choose not to do it.

Hey guys! Do what I did: Went to my local Sears in NC, talked to the store manager, purchased a gift card on the spot for $311 ($279 plus UPS shipping). He called the store manager in Michigan. Had the G tablet sent my house, it arrived 2 days before my birthday. The stores can accept your Sears can send ID on back of the card to the store in question and hopefully ship your device. Also sign up for the Sears loyalty card while your at it; picked up $10 bucks in Sears points on the spot!

I went on-line this past Friday to order the MHL/HDMI cable for my HTC Sensation from the T-Mo store. At the end of checkout I was asked 5 security questions...I flubbed the first question because I wasn't paying attention. Some of the other questions were kind of strange. i.e. They asked me if I knew a Anble S****. It was my family last name but who has "Able" as a first name??? The best I could figure was they may have meant "Angie" who was a family member.
Anyways, I flunked the security questions and was given a phone number and order# so I could call and verify the order over the phone. I had the call the next day because that office was closed.
I called and cleared up the order and then the sales rep who was helping me could not find the item I was trying to order. Trying to be helpful, I found the item on my own at the on-line T-Mo store but it had no SKU or part #. The sales rep also told me he could not access the same web site because they were restricted from doing so!!!???? I was thinking of e-mailing him the link to the video cable but he couldn't even get to it.
He had to put a note in my order stating what the item was so some other dept. could try to find it...
So predictably, 6 business days later (I paid for overnight delivery) I still had not received my order. I called 30 minutes ago and the sales rep told me the order still had NOT been placed yet AND it would take 24-72 hours (business days) before the order would be even cleared by another dept. Now what the heck does that mean?. I told the rep I was not very happy and a few other choice words.
At least I hope I get an e-mail when they finally find the cable and mail it to me...the next time I'll order from Hong Kong and probably get it faster..haha.
That sucks. You should at least get the shipping charge refunded or changed since it's taking them so long. Are these not available in store?
No MHL/HDMI cables at the local T-Mo store
Last weekend I did go to my local T-Mo store and they only had cases and screen protectors for the HTC Sensation. I was not really expecting too much since the Sensation is so new. I asked the sales girl when they might be getting anything in and she had no clue. The impression I got was she was not expecting any video cables to come in.

yea when i went into my local T-Mo and asked about the cable he said "idk, maybe in a few weeks"
Best Buy just sent me an email stating that my Verizon S7 edge is ready for pick-up at the store today, 3/7!!!
Putting on my clothes and running over to see if it's true. Can't wait!!!

I wish I did in-store pickup. I have mine being delivered, and the Gear VR and MicroSD card say preparing for shipping but the phone still says pre-ordered, although the release date changed from 3/11 to 3/07.
Best Buy pre-order has been picked up. I got the phone, SDXC card and Gear VR. Starting activation and transfer of apps & data from my S6edge+...
My good friend picked up her s7 edge and gear vr package from best buy today also. mine shows shipped and should arrive by 3/9.
Mine came in with VR and sd card also. I also got it in time for the free wireless charging pad promotion! Score!
My VR should be delivered today, but my phone still hasn't shipped yet.

I preordered on 3/30 and my order is "in progress" with expected delivery by 4/21.
Originally pre-ordered on 3/30. Canceled it to change it to the S8+ on 4/5 and as of my typing this, mine still says, "Order Processing." I'm picking mine up in-store, so not sure how that'll factor in me getting the device.

I just got that coupon as well. I believe it does come off the monthly payment, but since this discount is exclusive to Best Buy, when you pre-order, it's at full price (when I looked at my original pre-order order, it's at $849.99), but will be adjusted when you get the phone. At least that's how I understand it.
I'm still processing, to be delivered by 4/21. I placed my order on 4/10.
I ordered on 04/03.
Hold for $839 placed on my AMEX instantly.
Went away after a few days as expected.
I'll know when they pull the phone and slap it in a box for shipping instantly because the AMEX app will ping me when the charge goes through.
I specifically ordered this to be shipped and delivered by 04/21 because I don't feel like dealing with the crowds on release day at BB.
AND, I also remember a fiasco where some went to pick up their phones and the delivery did NOT make it so they had to wait until the following Monday.

Due to lack of Note 7 inventory for my "day 1" preorder I questioned several BB PEEPS. I have been told in store by both Samsung Experience rep and long time BB cellular employee that they have over compensated with their orders this time around. Sunday/weekly flyer guaranteed availability on release date if preordered by 4/20.
Thanks everyone for the updates on their devices. I'm sure BB will come through as they did 2 years ago with my s6 edge plus, but I always get paranoid that mine will be the one that doesn't show up lol.
I will have to see if I can track down this $100 coupon in my email. Maybe they process it as a down payment which knocks $100 off of the phone?

The coupon they are talking about is if you Pre-Ordered in store. If you processed online for pickup instore then you do not need the coupon. I placed a pre-order for the S8+ online (3/30) for pickup in store. I am on Verizon and under my documents page on MyVerizon it already shows the new edge agreement with the total amount financed at $716. BestBuy FTW on the initial savings, just have to suffice with potentially waiting until 10am Friday vs early Verizon shipments.

Yeah, I pre-ordered in-store. Didn't know that you don't get a coupon if you pre-ordered online. I just assumed everyone who pre-ordered from Best Buy got one. Funny enough, when I logged into my AT&T account, I see the discounted price for the phone.
For those who got the coupon: I know it says that you need to print it out when you pick it up, but can you get away with them scanning the code from your phone?

Preordered on 4/1. Status online just changed from Processing to Preparing and am no longer able to cancel at all.
Though I'm concerned that the Get it by date has changed from Friday to now 4/25. Going to really be upset if it doesn't show up by launch day :crying:

Ordered mine on 04/08. Also was "awaiting authorization" next to my credit card number. I hope that is not an issue with the card and that they will charge the sales tax when they ship.
Mine has changed to preparing with "get it by Tuesday 04/25" as well.
I may order again to pick up in store on 04/21 and just cancel the other order.
This is ridiculous but being Best Buy, not surprising.

They just need the barcode visible for their scanner. On the phone is ok, I'm sure.
Did anyone else get overcharged by the amount of their trade-in devices by Verizon when pre-ordering? My wife and I both pre-ordered fold 3's and traded in our devices. I was charged a certain amount in store, but then when I was emailed my receipt and checked my bank draft it was $1,000 more than I was charged in store. I've called numerous times and made numerous complaints with no help. Anyone else had to go through this?

IDK if the terms of the trade-in offer have changed since you made your purchase, but, it appears that any trade-in value is paid out via bill credits over a 24 or 30 month span.
That's how T-Mobile's trade-in program works & I'm guessing VZW is no different in that regard.
I don't think you understood. I have a paper receipt in my hand that's $427 from where I swiped my card in store, then they emailed me receipt for $1,427 and that's how much they took from my account.

Yes they do and since August 25th I haven't got any kind of resolution. Worst customer service I've ever had to deal with.
Time to call your bank bro, idk why you didn't come to them first with your receipt and what you were charged...
