Reset Samsung Knox counter? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

I rooted my SM-G925P over the weekend and noticed that Samsung Pay didn't work, so I figured I would push the OEM firmware via Odin to return the device to stock. After restore, I am still receiving an "Access denied" message and am unable to use Samsung pay. Is there any way to reset the know counter on the SM-G925P?

As far as I know Samsung is the only one that can reset it and they don't do requests. Android pay will work again if you're unrooted and mostly stock.

Thanks baknblack, I figured that, since I couldn't find anything on Knox dealing with our device.

Resetting KNOX

After rooting, using SuperSU to disable KNOX, I was playing around. Editing, deleting, freezing, etc, etc... Well I triggered KNOX somehow and had to log into my Samsung account to reset my phone each time.
Well, come to find out, after resetting my phone in recovery and then resetting my phone through setting, KNOX is reset back to 0x0.
FYI
Wait a minute. Are you sure you had triggered bootloader level knox to 0x1, and reseting turned it back to zero? The towelroot and supersu should not trigger the Knox flag. Loading a recovery would do that. Are you sure you triggered knox, or just wiped it and reloaded the knox system?

How would you verify whether knox has been reloaded?
I had been using my s5 for work, we use Good Mobile. I rooted, thinking knox would be restored per the post, but I can no longer use my phone for work, as root tripped whatever security was in place, making my phone out of policy at work. No biggie, just have to use my tab now instead.
Hoping to get an unlocked BL and some custom roms etc. eventually.
he mustve done somethin else.. root hasnt tripped knox for n e one yet.. mustve done somethin else lol

Phone info on the Play Store will tell you if the Knox Warranty Flag is 0x0 or 0x1.
I find it weird that you somehow set Knox's Warranty Flag with root.... No-ones done that yet AFAIK. What did you do exactly?

Been waiting for root like everyone else. Read about towelroot >>> navigated to towelroot.com click on the lambda >>> dl using es downloader and install >>> make it ra1n or something :crying: >>> profit. Good no good.
I have a bad memory though and am wondering if there was an option to trip Knox or not, if there was I very well could have decided to trip it thinking I don't want half ass root issues....any way thought of resetting w/Odin but The Man will not own me!

This! Rooting won't trip the KNOX counter, but Super SU freezes it (see below).

When Super SU is installed, you're asked to freeze KNOX. To me, that means any applications that require it won't work...unless you do a full factory restore. The hardware flag should not be tripped by anything you can do on the phone currently, unless you have a Dev Edition.
So this isn't my first time rooting however I came from the S3 which did not have KNOX. So excuse any ignorance.
I rooted the S5, disabled KNOX with SuperSU (and received confirmation it was disabled) and continued to play with the phone at the root level. After playing with it (a lot), I decided to check KNOX status in ODIN and it read REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): ON.
I reset my phone and had to provide my samsung account login to reactivate the phone after wipe. I wiped it a few different ways including using KIES to do a firmware reload. The only way I had not tried was to reactivate the phone (after samsung login) and do a wipe phone reset through the settings menu.
The only way I was able to get the REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): to read OFF was after that method.
System status also read Custom. I have a feeling it was Triangle Away that triggered KNOX.
I have since wiped, it kept root surprisingly, and reloaded everything except Triangle Away with no issues.
Hope this is written as logical as it sounds in my head.

You managed to get past the REACTIVATION LOCK? That's most likely what set Knoxs warranty flag (not 100% though).

You have to uninstall Good and load the Good root check disabler module for Xposed before reinstalling it. Otherwise it detects root.
Has nothing to do with Knox.
I use "hide my root" from the play store for when I do not need root to hide root from the apps that check for it that won't work if you you're rooted, works great, then when you need to do some work that needs root open the app unhide root tinker away until you need to hide root from one of those pesky apps, then hide it!

New GS5! uh...

Ok.
So, tough loving the new GS5.
I want my menu button back. What's with these HUGE tiles that show up on the most recent app list - I like how MOAR/Android did the smaller tiles on long press of HOME button on GS3.
Thanks to the towel root, I'm rooted.
How do you tell if knox bit is trippped?
Also - I downloaded SU from the play store. WHen I launch it it says "do you want to disable knox" - My brain says YES!! but... what happens? warranty void? Can you ODIN stock back on to restore it?
Using titanium I managed to get my apps moved. WTF good is the samsung smart move application if it does not move your files/ringtones/preferences or even your MAIL accounts??? Really?
So that's my initial thoughts. Feedback?

For the menu button. Hold the recent apps button (to the left of the home button/fingerpriny scanner). It still functions as a menu button you just have to hold it.

Reboot into download mode, counter says 0x1 if tripped, but if you rooted with towelroot, you're not tripped. You're fine disabling Knox through SuperSU. As long as you don't trip Knox you can flash through kies or take it to a store to get 100 stock back on it. Overall, I really like mine. Got it for father's day, and so far, no complaints. You'll get used to the buttons. Just put the settings shortcut on your home screen . Have fun!

No, you can't. In order to flash new ROMS you have to have custom recovery, which is flashed through Odin, which trips Knox.

That does not make sense, at least to me. if that were true they could never update their own recovery, even if a flaw or bug or feature required it.

An official install from Samsung would not trip knox, just like when you odin a stock tar does not trip knox. Only a custom recovery trips it, so Samsung would have no problem updating a flawed recovery without tripping knox.
Right. that's my point. So, what "actually does" trip knox? or, how do you package a "custom rom" so that the stock recovery deploys it.
Challenges!

What trips Knox is booting into a custom recovery. I'm pretty sure that using Odin to install it by itself won't trip it, but booting into it will. And of course, you can't install a custom rom without using a custom recovery.

You would need to use ODIN and download the full TAR version that you want.

I have my fingerprint activated and it couldn't recognize it for some reason. it then asked me to input gmail, which it also stated as being incorrect. I then change my password and the phone still says it wasent correct.
I am planning on doing a factory reset. But my photos from the past week did not automatically back up on google photos. is there anyway i can retrieve those photos on my locked device???
Take those same photos again?

Did you try plugging it into your pc? Then again, it may be stuck in charge mode. Try this. ..
Do you care about rooting?
If you don't care for Knox, flash twrp in Odin and navigate to the dcim folder to get your photos and transfer them to OTG USB.
Please remember if you do this, no more Samsung Pay!!!

There is no way to reset the Knox counter once it's tripped on the Note 5.
It's up to you. I don't know for sure if flashing the official Odin firmware will leave the Knox counter alone. Some else can confirm that.

Just follow those steps to at least get to stock.

Galaxy S7 says "custom" but is not rooted. Need help.

I have had my Galaxy S7 for about 2 months, brand new from Verizon, I updated my firmware using their Samsung official update and when it booted it up, it said custom, but when I used a root checker it said it was not rooted, and I tried to use some superuser features and they would not work, but the phone still shows custom.
The phone worked fine up until a week ago when it started to freeze, then would reboot and take hours to turn on. The phone got to the point where it wouldn't even reboot, even after a master reset, and flashing the stock ROM via Odin. I took it into Samsung to get help, after they tried to flash it and it didn't get passed boot, I was turned away because the phone appeared to be rooted and I was told to send it in to Samsung. This is a problem I have never seen before. I did not try any attempt to root my device or download anything that wasn't official. I have sent my phone into Samsung so they can "investigate the issue" and I am awaiting the response. I have some questions.
1. Is this common?
2. How could this have happened?
3. Does flashing a stock rom via Odin trip Knox?
4. if Samsung turns me away what should I do?
Thanks.

Rooted then restore to stock, will samsung pay still work?

I have a S7 still with stock ROM. I want to root it to get rid of some bloatware completely. I know I will lose Samsung Pay after root. But my concern is, will I get Samsung Pay back if I do an ODIN stock ROM restore? I read some post that I will get it back. But others say if I root and violate KNOX inside the phone, I will never get Samsung pay back.
Can people here confirm please?
Nope, KNOX is permanently tripped if you root, which disabled Samsung Pay and other things
