Retrieve Photos on locked out note 5 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

I have my fingerprint activated and it couldn't recognize it for some reason. it then asked me to input gmail, which it also stated as being incorrect. I then change my password and the phone still says it wasent correct.
I am planning on doing a factory reset. But my photos from the past week did not automatically back up on google photos. is there anyway i can retrieve those photos on my locked device???

Take those same photos again?

Did you try plugging it into your pc? Then again, it may be stuck in charge mode. Try this. ..
Do you care about rooting?
If you don't care for Knox, flash twrp in Odin and navigate to the dcim folder to get your photos and transfer them to OTG USB.
Please remember if you do this, no more Samsung Pay!!!

Can't I just re flash stock firmware back on? Wouldn't that allow me to reactivate KNOX?

There is no way to reset the Knox counter once it's tripped on the Note 5.
It's up to you. I don't know for sure if flashing the official Odin firmware will leave the Knox counter alone. Some else can confirm that.
If you don't care about Knox and Samsung Pay:

Just follow those steps to at least get to stock.

Resetting KNOX

After rooting, using SuperSU to disable KNOX, I was playing around. Editing, deleting, freezing, etc, etc... Well I triggered KNOX somehow and had to log into my Samsung account to reset my phone each time.
Well, come to find out, after resetting my phone in recovery and then resetting my phone through setting, KNOX is reset back to 0x0.
FYI
Wait a minute. Are you sure you had triggered bootloader level knox to 0x1, and reseting turned it back to zero? The towelroot and supersu should not trigger the Knox flag. Loading a recovery would do that. Are you sure you triggered knox, or just wiped it and reloaded the knox system?

How would you verify whether knox has been reloaded?
I had been using my s5 for work, we use Good Mobile. I rooted, thinking knox would be restored per the post, but I can no longer use my phone for work, as root tripped whatever security was in place, making my phone out of policy at work. No biggie, just have to use my tab now instead.
Hoping to get an unlocked BL and some custom roms etc. eventually.
he mustve done somethin else.. root hasnt tripped knox for n e one yet.. mustve done somethin else lol

Phone info on the Play Store will tell you if the Knox Warranty Flag is 0x0 or 0x1.
I find it weird that you somehow set Knox's Warranty Flag with root.... No-ones done that yet AFAIK. What did you do exactly?

Been waiting for root like everyone else. Read about towelroot >>> navigated to towelroot.com click on the lambda >>> dl using es downloader and install >>> make it ra1n or something :crying: >>> profit. Good no good.
I have a bad memory though and am wondering if there was an option to trip Knox or not, if there was I very well could have decided to trip it thinking I don't want half ass root issues....any way thought of resetting w/Odin but The Man will not own me!

This! Rooting won't trip the KNOX counter, but Super SU freezes it (see below).

When Super SU is installed, you're asked to freeze KNOX. To me, that means any applications that require it won't work...unless you do a full factory restore. The hardware flag should not be tripped by anything you can do on the phone currently, unless you have a Dev Edition.
So this isn't my first time rooting however I came from the S3 which did not have KNOX. So excuse any ignorance.
I rooted the S5, disabled KNOX with SuperSU (and received confirmation it was disabled) and continued to play with the phone at the root level. After playing with it (a lot), I decided to check KNOX status in ODIN and it read REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): ON.
I reset my phone and had to provide my samsung account login to reactivate the phone after wipe. I wiped it a few different ways including using KIES to do a firmware reload. The only way I had not tried was to reactivate the phone (after samsung login) and do a wipe phone reset through the settings menu.
The only way I was able to get the REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): to read OFF was after that method.
System status also read Custom. I have a feeling it was Triangle Away that triggered KNOX.
I have since wiped, it kept root surprisingly, and reloaded everything except Triangle Away with no issues.
Hope this is written as logical as it sounds in my head.

You have to uninstall Good and load the Good root check disabler module for Xposed before reinstalling it. Otherwise it detects root.
Has nothing to do with Knox.
I use "hide my root" from the play store for when I do not need root to hide root from the apps that check for it that won't work if you you're rooted, works great, then when you need to do some work that needs root open the app unhide root tinker away until you need to hide root from one of those pesky apps, then hide it!

Retrieving photos when locked out of a Galaxy S6!

I am helping a person try and retrieve photos from a Samsung Galaxy S6 that is stock at the lock screen. The finger print scan is not working and they do not know there back up password. I researched two ways to get around this.
1. Entering in the google account user name and password
2. Signing into Find My Mobile with the samsung account information and unlocking the phone
If both of these options fail due to the owner not remembering there above credentials is there any other way to retrieve photos. How about putting the phone in dfu mode and using a program on a computer to copy photos from the internal storage. Is something like this possible? Appreciate any help on this issue.
Maybe flash a stock ROM with Odin?
That way all the data stays in tact and it may remove lock screen.
Sent from my SM-G920I using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks for the quick response. The lady is paranoid about losing her photos! Therefore flashing with Odin Stock Rom will not remove any data from the phone. Do you have instructions or a link on how to do this.
I also am able to sign into her google account through the web browser, but when I use those credentials to try and unlock the Galaxy S6 it says that the user name or email is wrong. Thanks

Sounds like she could be learning a hard lesson. Backup passwords, knowing what accounts you used to setup, photo backups all exist for a reason.

I totally agree with your assessment! I don't understand how I can log into her Gmail account via the web and then when I enter the same information at the Galaxy S6 Unlock via Google it does not work. Could this have something to do with not being connected to the internet. It is saying that 4G LTE is connected. Doesn't seem to be a way to connect it to WiFi without unlocking home screen.
If this was my phone I would have no trouble trying to flash the Odin stock Rom, but do not want to lose her info incase someone else can retrieve it. Does flashing the Odin stock ROM wipe everything on the phone or does it retain photos and other information. Thanks
I'm in this same situation. Is there anyway to retrieve the pictures? Flashing with Odin does not wipe the phone?
Wasn't life easier when we had removable sd cards...?
Flashing the system partition does not touch the data partition.
Do you know how she managed to break the fingerprint reader, by the way?
My G920F stuck on bootloop because of fail on rooting and I was afraid of losing all my photos. First I flashed TWRP with Odin, booted to recovery mode and pulled photos and videos out with adb. Then I flashed stock firmware with Odin and made a factory reset (not mandatory). Everything is working fine now.

I suppose doing this you had USB debugging ENABLED before the boot-fail? Or does it turn on USB debug when flashing TWRP?

Agree WahFai, much simpeler with SD-card! So you think flashing system partition will do the trick. I'll go read up on that, how to flash the system partition. In my case, afaik, the fingerprint reader did not break. The system failed accepting the unlock code from one day to another and she does not remember the backup code for the reader. Thanks for your reply!
All she wants are the pictures on the phone. She recently got a baby, all the pictures of the delivery are on the phone, so you sense the urgency to not loose the pictures. She'll still feel the effects 18 years from now.
By the way: does flashing the stock rom with odin void the warranty? Because the phone is still on warranty...
Flashing a stock rom via odin will not trip knox but flashing a custom recovery will.
Thanks for clearing that out for me.

I'm pretty sure that knox will be tripped.
Also go to my profile and check thread that I've started. I explain there how I did it.
If you've any problems post here or pm me.
I now found the instructions on how to pull files with ADB. I connected the phone to my pc and checked if the device was recognized. This was not the case. Does this mean, that the USB debugging was not enabled?

Galaxy s6 stuck on "custom binary blocked by frp lock"

Just yesterday night when i came home, I plugged in my phone to the charger and i noticed that this FRP lock notification appeared.
https://cdn-images.xda-developers.com/direct/3/4/0/9/7/0/1/IMAG0008.jpg
It looks like that. I attempted to flash a stock firmware on my phone because apparently that would be a solution to this problem. When I attempt to flash it to the stock rom, this message appeared " can't open the serial(com) port". I do not have kies installed so that isn't one of the problem. I have some important data saved on this phone, and I can't lose it. Is there a way to resolve this issue without having to factory reset?

It surprises me that no one has offered a real solution to this as of yet. It seeems like no one cares enough to follow up on their work. So here I am about to tackle another Custome Binary Blocked by FRP issue. Some of these FRP lock are quite difficult as you may see with this one I'm going to invite to the forum. I'll introduce Brookland and ask for an explaination of their issue so far.

Hi i dont know what aspecially you want to do...
would you just flash the stock rom? Then the frp Lock is no problem. You just need the right Firmware for your device. sm-g920F or 920T or 920P or 920W..........
to download samsung firmware just use:
samfirm

or use frija

booth of them doing the same....to download the choosen firmware in a fast way.
then flash the firmware with odin und it will work.
or
would you remove the frp lock to flash costum rom on a device you found in the gras or on the beach a device you didnt know the google account login data.
its possible but....
btw your picture upload in the first thread isnt availlable any more

If it were that simple I would have been over this a month ago. I'm not talking about the FRP lock that is related to the google account sign in. It's "Custom Binaries are Blocked by FRP Lock". That's sometimes a lot more difficult to fix than your standard FRP lock. Like this time. This ones not in my hands or I would've been done with it by now.
I'm trying to assist someone who has their S6 Plus locked up and I've already supplied them with the Stock, Combination and Repair Files with no positive results. So unless you have another method I haven't heard of this one will be number 2 of devices out of 47 that I couldn't return to operational status. Thanks for trying to help.
Ok pls tell me...what kind of s6 it is.
First you need to flash the stock Rom from Samsung.
I have a Idea...do you have Teamviewer? Then i could try remote Control to Support you.
But you need first to flash the stock Rom. Even Stock Firmware is flash on the device. You need wait for first start. During startup you must enter the Google Login data. This Google Login data is the Key to Open the device and after this. To remove the frp Lock. Then you can flash any othrr Rom you like to.
Lol

Rooted then restore to stock, will samsung pay still work?

I have a S7 still with stock ROM. I want to root it to get rid of some bloatware completely. I know I will lose Samsung Pay after root. But my concern is, will I get Samsung Pay back if I do an ODIN stock ROM restore? I read some post that I will get it back. But others say if I root and violate KNOX inside the phone, I will never get Samsung pay back.
Can people here confirm please?
Nope, KNOX is permanently tripped if you root, which disabled Samsung Pay and other things

Thanks for above replies. One more question: what is the best way of restoring my phone back to stock? My phone is still not rooted. Does flashing with ODIN to stock break KNOX? I want to restore to stock because I want to give my phone to a friend. I don't want any personal information remaining in the phone.

If you enter the pattern incorrectly too many times, you'll get the option to unlock using your gmail account.
Thats if Xaomi didn't mess with it.

Is your device rooted? Do you have TWRP installed?
Try one of these methods

If you do it correctly you won't lose your data but rooting and flashing TWRP will void your warranty, but there is way to fix that too, all you have to do after you get device unlocked is unroot the device then flash stock recovery over TWRP and you'll won't lose your warranty.

When you root, it will require installing the SuperSU app on your device, to unroot, open SuperSU app, then open its app settings, on its settings you'll see an option that says something like "cleanup for unroot and uninstall", this option will remove the su binaries from your system partition and uninstall the SuperSU app, then you'll be unrooted.
Then you just flash a copy of stock recovery to replace TWRP and you'll be back on full stock without root and warranty intact.

You also might not need root or TWRP, some devices can use adb without them.

1) keep trying everything you can
2) give up trying
3) pay a technician to do it for you, there's no guarantee you'll get any of your data back.
I've suggested the usual ways to recover data from a locked device. I've given all the help I can.

Are you looking for a way to bypass Google Factory Reset Protection? If so, that discussion is not allowed here, we can't help you.
This thread is about bypassing lock screen, it is not for bypassing Google account verification.
