S5K2L2 ISOCELL vs SONY IMX 333? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Im about to buy my Galaxy S8 this weekend and my friend lets me check the camera sensors everytime I upgrade, I usually go for the IMX sensors on Samsung but there is always a comparison between those but i havent been able to find any! Do anyone here have 2 Galaxies with IMX and ISOCELL or have seen a comparison between them anywhere?
https://www.google.com.mx/amp/www.a...-s7-isocell-vs-sony-sensor-camera-680266/amp/
That's the comparison between both sensors on S7 anyone has found the comparison for S8?

Apparently all snapdragon variants of S8/+ have sony camera sensors while all exynos variants have samsung SLSI camera sensors. At least this time there seems to be no lottery like it used to be in previous gen samsung flagships! This makes such comparison difficult as one wouldn't easily find two S8s with the two different sensors in a particular country/region. Also, the two sensors seem to be identical in performance (going by S7/edge comparisons).

I would like to see some pictures that the note takes. Trying to decide between the Note 3 and G2 on sprint. I really want a good camera for taking pics of my constantly moving 1 year old.

Here you go, a comparison between the Z1 and Note 3, look for the tags under pictures to identify which one is which.

I'm pretty sure BTW that both the G2 and the N3 uses a newer revision of the Sony Exmor RS sensor (or Exmor R), so far what I've seen from both are impressive, a bit better in low-light than before, but not Lumia level. In any case, results should be good with both and the best thing you can do is simply walking in and feeling out both. The G2 has the OIS advantage where the Note just feels better in the hand with it's non-glossy texture.

From the pictures on that site, N3 pictures look infinitely better than the Z1's (especially the close-up pictures), which is quite a surprise. I'm guessing the Z1 needs a software update to it's camera app, because they advertised the camera as one its biggest selling points, so I'm assuming the hardware is not the thing that is at fault here.

Hey bro, the above link shows an Exynos powered Note 3 and if I remember right, some time before you were suggesting in the S4 forums that the Exynos version of S4 has a superior sensor (Exmor RS) over Snapdragon powered S4 (Exmor R). Do you know if this case holds true with Note 3 variants?
Can people start posting some camera snaps and say whether S800 or Exynos.

Camera Note Edge vs S6?

Hello!
It looks like the S6's camera can take better photos than Note 4/Edge, though as it's the same camera module, why Samsung is not releasing a Rom update to match the S6 camera quality?
Samsung is just trying to copy Apple that's all they don't intend to make things better for all level of users they try to create a smartphone class difference
Although they have the same Sony sensor, the s6 has an i.r sensor and more. It's more then software differences
Sent from my SM-N915V
maybe its my phone but my camera sucks. i mean i haven't looked at them on the pc but just taking normal indoor pics they seem very grainy and blurry even with ois
Then your Edge should go in service...the same problem I had a few weeks ago,and after samsung change the camera modul, everything is perfect....wish you good luck ...

s6 camera vs s6 camera!!

hey guys, me and my brother got galaxy s6 devices, we both have MM, i tried both side by side, tried to take a picture of the same object, on my brother phone the quality is much better, if you zoom you can see the difference...and the colors are a bit different, i got the sony sensor, but i can't check for him because the *#34971539# code doesn't work on MM....anyone know why there are some differences?
some s6's have isocell sensor and others have sony imx sensor, there are positives to both types, there is a dedicated thread to this in the general forum

yes i know, i can't check his phone because of MM, the code doesn't work, my question is, if there should be another reason for this difference, or how can i check the camera FW
Download AIDA64 in playstore.
i used the app, he has samsung sensor, but from what i know sony sensor should be a bit better, but the difference in the pictures is big, he has sharper image, the pictures have been taken in a bit of low light, the colors are a bit different but it's not an issue...

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Camera Sensor ...

Hello All ...
I just got my Samsung S7 Edge (G935F) and to my utmost surprise I have got Samsung's own BRITECELL(or whatever they call it) Camera Sensor instead of beloved Sony Sensor ... The same they opted with S6 n S6 Edge and the Sony Sensor pictures were way better than Samsung's ISOCELL Camera Sensor ...
That's pretty strange ... I haven't checked or compared the quality of the photos with the one with Sony Sensor ...
But I'm disappointed ... Sheer Shame .... Samsung does this every time ...
Please share your information here what you people have got ...

What region are you from OP? I installed AIDA64 on the demo units in the Philippines, and they are showing Sony sensors. Hope I get a Sony sensor on my preorder..
That's wierd. My SM-G935F has the Sony sensor according to Aida64...
Phone was purchased in Germany via Amazon.de
Ordered from Samsung UK and mine is showing Samsung sensors

That's what Samsung does ... I mean every year ... They give two different sensors in a flagship product costing over 800$ ... And let the users compare them ...
Last year in S6, people posted photos taken from Sony Sensor Camera and Samsung's own ISOCELL Camera and Sony proved to be superior in much of them ...
And I'm expecting the same this year ...
Probably would return my device because of this very reason as the same happened last year with me ...
I mean you can't except it that your Camera has a cheaper Sensor than your friend's fone having same price and specs ...
That's baddddddd Sammy ... leave these tactics please ...

Id ask for a new phone i mean this is just bad on samsungs behalf
Samsung does these annoying things year after year.....why do they send review and demo units worldwide with superior Sony sensor----simply to fool customers. ......

Thx.. must be the different batches then, if the sammy don't send it today i'll pre order from carphone warehouse... don't wanna loose on the vr gear. Thanks for info dude
I'm really shocked that AIDA64 shows both camera modules as not having video stabilization. The Sony sensor on my S6 Edge shows support for video stabilization according to AIDA64.
I got mine yesterday UK phone it's the Sony camera I have
But noticed aida64 shows only 3.5gb ram......
Carphonewarehouse also in black

See it's business. It's not just camera sensor, it's also about RAM, NAND etc., Apple does same, this is done to have enough inventory during high sale period. Most times it's because they can't get enough components of one type. Apple infact goes as far as getting display and SOC from different foundry. Not for first time it happened, and as the nature of business it will continue in future as well.
Note: Samsung never promised we will get IMX260 sensor. As long as both sensors similar job, I see no reason to be concerned about. Would you have complained if it was only Samsung sensor?

Some amount of RAM is always reserved for GPU, also applies for your laptop.
F*** Samsung sensor here as well. What the f samsung? Thinking about switching to a different model now. Mine's made in Vietnam.
EDIT: Found this comparison by Gsmarena - http://blog.gsmarena.com/samples-comparison-galaxy-s6-s6-edge-sony-samsung-camera-sensors-2/ and in that comparison the ISOCELL sensor pictures look a bit better. Are there any more comparisons available? Just asked my friend if he could check his S7, and if it turns out he got a Sony sensor I'll do a comparison between the two.
EDIT: My fried just replied and his phone is equipped with the IMX260 so I'll post some pics when I have a chance to do a comparison!
Mine appears to be Sony. I have a G935F (Exynos in the UK). Purchased from Carphone Warehouse
Why some people say Sony sensor is better, and some say ISOCELL wins?
I'm not very surprised with my ISOCELL sensor, to be honest.
My wife's appears to be ISOCELL. Hers is also G935F (Exynos in the UK) but came directly from EE.
I got a black 935f from carphonewarehouse in UK.
Has Sony sensor in mine.

[Discussion] Galaxy S8 Official Thread

The long waited device have been annouced, and it was worth waiting. A 5.8" gorgeous display powered by a 10nm processor, a whole new UX and tons of other features. So what do you think about it ? Her you can talk about anything related to the Galaxy S8, enjoy guys ! :good:
I was hoping for that 1000fps camera rumor but it seems that was shot down, camera seems to be the same as in the s7.
That screen though... simply stunning.
I didn't see any mention of the sub pixel array, still pentile?
There is a Chinese site that claims there is a China-exclusive Galaxy S8 boasting 6GB worth of RAM. How likely is this to be true, given that the west will be receiving 4GB RAM variants? If this is true, I don't think I will buy the 'western' variant, rather I'd be looking to get China's exclusive 6GB edition. What are your thoughts?

Even though they didn't mention it, alot of sites are saying it'll shoot ultra-slow motion at 1000fps. Just because it wasn't mentioned does not mean it is inherently non-existent.
Source sammobile "According to a report by Naver, the Galaxy S8′s camera can record 1000fps videos, and the company has achieved this by adding DRAM (used as buffer memory) into the camera sensor itself. Sony’s recently unveiled the Xperia XZ Premium with a 19-megapixel camera sensor (IMX400) that uses a similar technique to capture 960fps slow-motion videos at 720p, but our sources tell us that the Galaxy S8 won’t use the same sensor."

It's not using Sony's new sensor, it's using same sensor as S7 so definitely no 960+ fps
omgggg this is so ugly haha same **** again even the s7 edge is better than this crap but waiting for the oneplus 5 that will be a bomb
Up to 10% in cpu and 21% in gpu is disappointing considering a switch to 10nm. The A10 got a lot more over A9 last year without a process improvement.
I think I'm going to hold or pass.

Somewhere I read something about 4k at 60fps. That would be an indication that this is not the same sensor as the s7

There is new camera software and an 8MB front facing camera - the new software is something many DSLR and Digitial cameras have - multi-shot or something like that - camera takes multiple pictures of the same photo very quickly and processes them together to get a better reproduction - helps in low light photos particularly - that is a bad description for what I think will be an awesome addition...can't wait - just hope I can pre-order a G950F Variant here in the US.
Any idea if the speaker has been improved over the s7?
I read a couple of articles that said there would be stereo sound/speakers and they did this by making the earpiece speaker the 2nd speaker.

I believe apple makes they're own cpu's from the ground up, samsung/qualcomm simply take pieces from arm and modify it slightly, the snapdragon 835 is an a53 + a slightly modified a72/a73 core, the exynos is probably based on the same thing.
What about development of this device? AOSP roms?
What's new in kernel version 4.4.16? And some benefits aganist 3.10?

True but imo its still not suitable for daily usage
I pre ordered one I do wish Samsung put stereo speakers on the front of the device but as long as what they got now is as loud as the note7 i'll be ok. The finger print scanner looks like it's in a not great spot but i'm not to worried about that since I use my smart watch to keep my phone unlocked
Let's get this thing rooted and going as soon as possible. I worry Samsung will make everyone's life harder with locked bootloaders and other bad surprises we may find along the way. But I'm looking forward to have the hardware in my hands soon and start the boogie

I think they are relegating the Finger print unlock method. They don't see it as the future of security. It's becoming just an optional extra. That's why they are pushing Iris scanning and a more advanced face unlock method. It should be quicker. We will see.
What size is the SIM card?
Do you still have to make the first calls with a SIM card from the country you bought it from?
Thanks
Any words about a new Audio Amp and DAC to match HTC one?
