unlock bootloader and android pay - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

Can anybody confirm that with unlock bootloader only (no root yet), that android pay works or not on stock rom?
I'm tempted to at least setup twrp while i'm still on 20a but then if android pay don't work even before root then I might not do it. Thanks.

Android pay won't work if you unlock your bootloader only, but if you unlock your bootloader and install magisk for root it works I would set up TWRP, install magisk for root and also recommend installing the Asgard v4.5 kernel. Then in magisk manager you need to go-to settings and check magisk hide (and don't use built in busy box with magisk hide enabled) and check safety net. If you pass, you can use Android pay.

Has anyone tried this and been able to confirm if it works?
Also, will a T-mobile branded LG G5 that is "carrier" unlocked "only" work with Android pay? If not, do you need to go through the same process of unlocking the boot loader, rooting, and installing magisk? Cheers and thanks in advance for any feedback!

S7 edge - systemless root + xposed + android pay

(posted previously in the wrong section)
Anyone using systemless root + xposed and android pay?
I was able to use systemless root with magisk v3 + phh superuser + systemless xposed without any problem however flashfire was not working since I cannot also make chainfire supersSU to work in s7 edge...
( releases after v3 up to v6 are not supporting well samsung - I verified though with the android version G935FXXU1BPH6 which also might be causing issues).
However after updating this version G935FXXU1BPH6 it seems to cause issues with TWRP and only boots to the last (twrp-3.0.2-3-hero2lte.img) and now I cannot go systemless at all because magisk v3 is not working aswell, root simply is not recognized.
SO basically now I'm using stock phone as I wanted to use android pay.... any ideas or anyone with any sucess?
im using v6 without problems. BUT you have to root with cfautoroot and unroot with superSU one time. i think that superSU changes something in boot.img that magisk needs to work ...
after that you have to use phh superuser.
pogo work
Flashfire will not
ok

This works fine as does systemless xposed etc. Did you pick the option to restore stock boot.img when you uninstalled SuperSU?
My banking apps can still detech phh's root. Wondering if the modified boot from SuperSU is the cause. Might just need to wait for Magisk V7 which shouldn't need this workaround.

Install xposed and KoalaCoak you don't need to be unrooted
That is only for ANZ and Westpac internet banking, not Android Pay? Is that correct? Have you got it working for Android Pay?
Cheers.

Read up on Magisk. Systemless Xposed is pointless as you can't bypass safetynet
If we get update and if we update.
Is it require to wipe data after flashing twrp?

Rooting HTC U11

So can we now unlock boot loader and root it with chainfire binaries?
which version of superuser.zip do we have to flash with ?
please post questions in the Q&A next time.
Unlock Bootloader
Flash TWRP in fastboot
Flash latest SuperSU.zip you can find on the supersu homepage.
...or flash a prerooted custom rom
you can also root with magisk su btw. That way you can pass safety net etc if that is needed for you.
How do you pass safety net with bootloader unlocked. I want root for ad block but also want Android pay. Possible?

With Magisk, it is.
i always root with chainfire super su
i don't know what is safety net or Magisk.
does magisk defer from super su ?

Magisk lets you use apps that do not work with root, such as mobile banking apps or Android Pay.

Xposed help

First of all didn't realize I posted this in the wrong area last time, my bad.
Device SMG930V
ROOT yes
ROOT method ENG BAT AP then root script
Android 7.0
Security patch latest
Question
Is there any possible way to install xposed to hide root so I can play south park? I've checked a root method post that claims you can but the root method sent my phone in a boot loop, a very fast loop.. So the rest seems fishy, can anyone confirm a xposed installation for my device? Please and thank you!
Xposed modifies the boot image which requires an unlocked bootloader, the G930V is snapdragon and has the bootloader locked, so you can't put Xposed on the 930V
Xposed also trips safetynet worse than root, it wouldn't hide anything.
You can check if Magisk Hide can be installed on snapdragon models, but from memory that too also needs an unlocked bootloader.
Crap, so is there a successful way to hide the root from certain apps yet? Are hands are tied if a game detects root

Relock Bootloader with Non-MIUI ROM

Hello, not sure if someone has asked the same question before but is it possible to relock the bootloader with a custom ROM and not MIUI official ROM?
The main reason behind the question is I want a pure pixel experience ROM and due to an unlocked bootloader and root, I can't use some banking and company apps even with MagiskHide so I'm thinking of relocking the bootloader and unroot and at the same time maintaining the custom ROM.
I'm using a Pixel Experience ROM btw.
Thank you.

Afaik not possible..i mean if u lock bootloader on any custom rom or even official with modifications u will stuck at bootlooop. dm verity
As far as I know, relock the bootloader is not possible.
However, it's possible to hide the bootloader unlock status without installing magisk. For example, xiaomi.eu's ROM hides it, and SafetyNet passes without magisk. But I don't know how to do this.
Which version of magisk are you using, it should be better with hiding stuff in the latest verison

Thank you, I am using Magisk 18. Some of my apps still force me to close even after I added it in MagiskHide.

You dont have to do anything. Simply Install their Rom and IT will Work directly. Used Banking Apps etc without a Problem on their Rom

I've found with a few apps that I had to turn off USB debugging as well, before it would let me use them. Maybe give that a try.

Just Unlocking the Bootloader breakes safety net and make device unverified..

So as the title says safety net breaks just by unlocking the bootloader and doing nothing else, no twrp no magisk and even if i flash magisk it doesnt fix it even with magiskprops module.
I flashed stock rom 10.3.1 with msmtool and booted the phone and everything was fine until i unlocked the bootloader and rebooted. I lost all oneplus wallpapers and even then play store says device not verified and netflix shows as unsupported app.
Even with 10.3.4 the issue is same and cant be fixed with magisk. Previously i was using 10.3.2 with unlocked bootloder and magisk and safety net was fine so how it is now not working with factory rom i flashed with msmtool

Don't think so. I'm on a rooted 10.3.4 and I don't see such issues with playstore or safetynet.

There's nothing you can do about safetynet. The moment you unlock the bootloader, you have tripped the safetynet. Why do you need safetynet btw unless you are using bank apps or secure stuff, safetynet really doesn't help much

Bro as i told already in my post i was yesterday using unlocked bootloader + magisk+ twrp with passing safety net. The problem started when i clean flashed stock rom with msmtool and unlocked bootloader.
ANYWAYS GUYS AFTER SO MANY USELESS ATTEMPS I SOLVED IT..
Older version of magisk worked and safety net passes, i dont know how new version failed me :/ Device is certified again
That's why I don't update anything if not have to
Config below
Sent from OnePlus 7 Pro, OxygenOS 10.0.3, TWRP 3.3.1-75, Magisk 20.4, TaiChi Xposed 6.1.8, Modded Play Store 16.5.15, android core.java patched and SafetyNet pass OK
Install magisk
Go to magisk settings
Enable magisk hide(if you're getting problems with banking apps or games that detect root just hide magisk manager too)
Enable it for google play services and enjoy!
Playstore uncertified status appeared to me when I flash stock rom through TWRP but it solves flashing new firmware via OTA
Sent from my OnePlus7Pro using XDA Labs
The reason an older version of Magisk worked is because newer versions of Magisk turn MagiskHide off by default, which is needed to pass SafetyNet.
Also, SafetyNet is not an e-fuse like Knox is. You don't "trip" it, you can only fail it when it checks your device.
