Display protection glass? - Xiaomi Redmi Pro Accessories

Has anyone found a fitting protection glass for our Redmi Pro?
I tried some which were said to fit "Redmi Pro" (also displaying our device with dual camera), but they won't fit. They are always missing 1-2mm of left&right visible display area which is pretty useless and ugly to see.
Even gearbest's recommended glass did not fit...

I also tried it and yes its not fit very well, i just take it off and leave it without a screen protector. look much better.

Little old post, but FYI, i tried an standard Samsung J7 tempered glass protector and, despite doesn't fit exactly on the corners of the phone, at least covers all the screen and fits reasonably well with the width of the phone.

All protectors are like that these days, they only cover the screen not the glass.
Also the redmi pro have a curved Glass design at the edge which would make it even harder.

It does not cover the screen completely. That is the problem. You have ugly color distortion at the protection glass edges inside the active screen area. No curved glass there at all.

Tempered glass that covers only the display?

Hi! I am searching for tempered glass screen protector that would cover only the display part (so I could also put a bling sticker on the phone haha). Thank you for suggestions!

All the ones I've used cover the home and back buttons and even the LED. Are you looking for something that covers less than that?

Yes, I would like one that only covers actual display part (the 5.7 inch diagonal rectangular part), no more:fingers-crossed: I think it is probably not possible :/
see I'm the total opposite, I can't find one that fits PERFECT and I usually go with BodyGuardz ( I really like the home button spacers and stuff they got nice kits) but ya anywho....so I tried two , one BGDz and the other generic , the generic was awful , the bodyguards was at least bit better fit. SO , what I did was bought a galaxy note 3 glass and it covers it edge to edge. the only issue is the edges could be tapered or rounded a bit but really I'm damn happy with it, total coverage for the full front, I hate cases but an otterbox / similar would have this thing fully encased and protected.

Best one I've found...
I have tried several tempered glass screen protectors on my Note 4. The best I have found are from Spigen. All of the other glass protectors usually left a slight gap on the edges where the display curves, but the Spigen slightly curves with the display and leaves no air gap. I have that in conjunction with the Versus Iron Shield cover; definitely a premium feel. You can get both for less than you just quoted ($45) on Amazon...
Most tempered glass screen protectors for the Note 4 are designed to just cover the display and not the whole front panel.

Most do not even cover the whole display, since there's a slight curve on the edges. I have a great tempered glass protector, and it is slightly narrower than the display. It doesn't bother me, since it works so well. S Pen glides so smoothly with it.

I was referring to the AMOLED display and not the entire front panel. As you have mentioned before the entire front panel of the Note 4 is made of 2.5D glass.

I have a Spigen glass screen protector on my n910v. It is not curved so as to follow the screen, but has air under the outermost 2mm or so on the long sides.
Not questioning your post. They may have changed, and someone buying one based on your recommendation is IMO going to be disappointed.
Bright side: the surface is nice - nicer than the original glass (easier finger glide, pen glide and seems to be more oleophobic - guess I have greasy ears or something )

Did you have any issues with the spigen? For me the sides aren't adhering properly.
With your scratches on the glass, the p20 pro does have gorilla glass and all gorilla glass phones out there can get scratches especially with bits of sand and random stuff in your pocket.

I've been using the Nilliken glass screen protector. Tried the other crap that doesn't adhere to the edges. The Nilliken is only 0.2 mm thick which probably helps adhering near the edges.
Used it on my P10+ and my wife's iPhone SE and great oleophobic feature which is part of the Japanese glass and not just a coating.
Installed it on my P20 off centre and it still adheres to the edges. Worth the $25.
Nillkin is smaller than the screen. Actualy a lot smaller than the actual screen. Aestheticaly is crap. Functionaly is just like all other protectors.

I bought one from Spigen, dont know that firm but im very happy. they also have a great concept on how to get the glass on the phone much easier by having sort of "handles" on the protective plastic on the glass. Plus i bought the case too, perfect fit, very robust, and works like a charm with the tempered glass

I disagree.... Not a lot smaller than the screen... Goes right up to curved edge. Wife has one on her iPhone for 2 yrs and oleophobic feature is still great.
Aestheticaly is better than most crap. Doubt if you have really tried one.
I have tried two on my p20 pro and one on my oneplus 3. Both with the same problem. They were marginally fitting on the actual screen. (i don't mean the black border of the screen. Not even close. I mean the actual screen) in general I'm a very protective user for all of my phones and even when I change for a new model, the last one is in perfect factory condition. After several amoled models that I've owned, (Samsung, huawei and oneplus) due to the curved edges of those screens, I have come to a conclusion.... I never use a tempered glass anymore. In worst case I've used iq shield wet membrane and never had any problems. In fact let's remember what everyone was doing when tempered glass wasn't around and we only had gorilla glass. I believe it's an artificialy created need, and after all these years I even dought even the idea behind the application of tempered glass. When a phone drops, if the forces are applied in that way and strength that a screen would crack it would crack. No extra glass will save you. Actually the way these glasses are applied on the screen can't prevent that. As far as scratches concerned, if gorrila glass can save you, then it's the same for every temp glass. If the one can't, so it's the other. (the only benefit it's that the temp glass you can easily change it). gorilla glass is a well documented patent with thousands of applications in daily life. I dought the same for all those generic glasses out in the market. (as for the well established companies like nilkin or spiegen etc etc, as I told above I highly dought its effectiveness for the reason I explained above.)
Its only my personal opinion from personal experience with various models from Samsung, oneplus and huawei. And for the last 10 years it served me very well.

First... I installed the Nillkin on my P20, not the Pro. It fits perfect and covers the black edges like it did on my P10+ and the SE. Can't speak for the Pro, but I doubt that Nillkin would design that one smaller!!
Second... US Corning makes Gorilla glass and Japan AGC makes Dragontrail, both great screen glasses. On both the oleophobic feature is part of the vapour deposition hardening process. Don't know what Huawei uses on the P20 series. I do know that my P20 screen is more scratch resistance and has a better oleophobic feature than my previous P10+.
Third... Nillkin uses AGC glass for their screen protectors. And I believe, the only one that is 0.2 thin. And I can speak for the oleophobic feature that doesn't wear off in a couple of months like the cheaper crap that uses a coating.
You obviously don't like or believe in glass screen protectors, that's OK, but please don't lump them all together. Most glass screen protectors are installed for scratch protection and some are way better than others.
Anybody know of one for the pro that goes all the way to the edges and uses the strip of adhesive to stay on? I had one on my V30 and used the loca glue for a perfect application from curved edge to curved edge

When I was surfing through You TUBE for P20 glass screen protectors, I did see one for the Pro that covered the curved edges, but instead of a thin strip of edge adhesive, it had the silicone covering the whole glass. I watched the typical spread when centre pressed.
I would've got that one for the P20, but couldn't find it again. Maybe someone knows where to find it.

Need Nilkin 3D CP+ Max, SP Review.

Hey guys I'm planning to buy the Nilkin 3D CP+ screen protector for my OnePlus 6 and I am hoping those of you who are already using it will share your experience with me.
My first concern is regarding the black borders on the sides, how much screen area do they eat up? Also does the border on the notch, make it look thicker?
The official TG glass from OnePlus is really overpriced in my country, so I'm really hoping the Nilkin one can be the next best alternative. Tia.
The main problem for me of the nillkin was that the glass is very thin. It broke when I was trying to separate a little bit from the screen to adjust it better.
It fits properly and yes, it takes a little bit of the screen with the borders, but not as much as other screen protectors.
In my opinion, and it's based on my experience, the most balanced is the orzly. It's the most similar to the Oneplus official one of those that I've tried.
I've had this one but it broke on the sides. The edges float above the glass because the adhesive only covers the screen. Because the glass is thin these edges beak quite easily. I currently have the normal tempered glass H (not the h+) this glas doesn't cover the edges, but there are no black borders that cover any part of the display. I've had I'd on for about 3 months know and I'm really pleased with it. No bubble's no cracks and quite good oleophobic coating. Also because this one is thicker than the h+ pro it doesn't break as easily. I have it alligned perfectly, maybe it makes a difference.
I have one of these that I bought through amazon through a Nillkin page. the black boarder definitely covers a bit of the screen. a bit of the notch boarder covers the screen. If you move it up so that there's no black from the notch border you'll cut off quite a few pixels off the bottom making it very hard to use gesture based controls. I had a problem with air bubbles, the ones near the top corners went away naturally, the 2 at the bottom 2 corners refuse to go away even after adjusting them and applying pressure for over 5 minutes. It's not a problem with the case as there's a very slim edge separating the glass from the case (Tudia 2 part case). Depending on how much you're spending on it I wouldn't recommend it, I paid $16CAD and I have buyers remorse I can't recommend this protector to anyone. There's no damage/cracks/halo effects after 2 weeks of usages, so that's a plus. I've ordered the dbrand prism screen protector, I'm hoping it'll be the same size minus the black borders.
The best one is Omron tempered glass. They came in a set of two. Nillkin hides some of the screen. Omron doesn't.
Thank you all for your response I won't buy the Nilkin glass since it breaks so easily. It's a shame OnePlus 6 has such a huge incompatibility with budget 5D/6D tempered glasses. Spending 18 quid on the official doesn't make any sense cause it too will break after a fall which can happen anytime.

Nillkin CP+Max Tempered Glass Review
Consider this my review of the Nillkin CP+Max Oneplus 6 Tempered Glass
Bought from Nillkin's Aliexpress official store.
Overall I am satisfied(I knew pretty much all of the problems listed below when i bought it).
Keep in mind when viewing the photos I have installed the glass as much to the top as the case lets me(Practically the glass and the case touch at the top.Maybe if I had another case I wouldn't have even more of the notch cutting in, but that is another story)
Pros:
- Very nice quality glass with excellent touch feeling.Perfect oleophobic coating compared to 1-3$ tempered glasses. Worth the extra dollars for this reason only!
- Fits with rhinoshield crashguard case(you have to install the glass while wearing the crashguard case and not the one oneplus provides!)
- Edge to edge cover(as much as it can be, as the sides of the phone have a small curve)
Cons:
- The black borders around the edge are too thick on every side. This results to having about 0.5 to 1mm of screen pixels covered at all times, which is especially visible in the notch area, which cuts even more inside the screen. Also visible on the bootloader screen where text starts from the very left of the screen and half the first letter is hidden. While in normal app use you never see text that far to the side to make it a huge problem,it some times shows in 21:9 videos on youtube fullscreen. It seems this is a problem every tempered glass with black borders has. Not only Nillkin's!
- A portion around the edges, beneath the black border doesn't have adhesive. (I think this is because the phone's glass starts to curve there making it impossible for adhesive to stick,so they don't put adhesive right there)
Maybe Nillkin should make the borders thinner in the future and also have them in a lower layer of the glass,so it doesn't look like a window.

Redmi K20 Pro Screen protectors.

Planning to get the Redmi K20 Pro but would like to keep it minimal in terms of protection. Just need some scratch protection.
Seen Gadgetshieldz full body screen protector as one of the recommendations.
https://www.gadgetshieldz.com/xiaomi-redmi-k20-pro-screen-protector-guards.html
Anything else that can be used without adding much bulk just for scratch protection? Don't want to hide those lovely patterns on the k20 back.
You should be able to use any screen protector for the Mi Mix 3 we they have the same screen size.

So I recently got my Mi 9T pro and found this thread while looking for a screen protector.
Has anyone tried the linked one from gadgetshieldz? If yes, good experiences? Does it cover the complete screen? I really can't stand the glass protectors which leave like 2mm of the screen on each side completely uncovered...

bought Glazedinc screen protector.. its hard and solid. covered every side.
I am using The Ringke Red Case, along with a generic Hydragel screen Protector from AliExpress (₹65). Till now my phone has had atleast 6-7 falls of which 2 were serious enough to stop the heart but zero bumps or cracks...
I haven't felt the need for over priced screen protectors from Glazedinc or anyone else...
Previously i used to use S-sheildz (Origin of GadetshieldZ from USA). Had to use water to apply the film but it was good enough that in my 7+ years of using them never had a screen scratch.... Or crack.. But can't find a source anymore. And Don't want pay more then 200 per screen guard....

once the Hydragel screen protector is applied, can that be removed .. when we dont want it..
I am using a nillkin screen protector 0.33mm without the black edges. Fits perfect without any bubbles or ring effect. So far the best screen protector for this phone if you want a glass screen protector. It has good olephobic coating so it's smooth and because I got the 0.33mm version they don't crack easily.
Where did you buy that? I have Nillkin tempered glass screen 0.2mm from Amazon India. It doesn't cover the whole screen. It doesn't even cover the display area completely. It also has halo around the edges even though I went to mobile phone store and asked them to apply the screen protector.
This is in fact my 3rd screen protector. I applied 2 others - one which had black edge which covered part of the display, and second one without black edges which also didn't cover the entire display.
I've also bought a set of 2 from GearBest, but I haven't applied it as it's the same size as the Nillkin one.
2 more on the way from Aliexpress, but I'm not too hopeful about them either. I don't want to take chance with another Nillkin, but you've found one that covers the entire screen and the edges stick properly as well, then I'd like to try it.

I'm using Clearplex on the screen with this phone. Is awesome. The case in the box is nice but not very strong, it's breaking in corners without getting hit or fallen.

Hmm I bought in lazada which is like aliexpress but for my country the 0.33mm one doesn't breakf easily and I understand what you mean by not fitting fully it does have like a gap of few cm of the edges. But a case solves this. I am using spoken case btw. it doesn't have the rainbow effect though. When I got it and install I just push the bubbles out from the side the rainbow effect is gone. Idk maybe different place they use different kind of glass. I am using Redmi k20 pro btw

Is there an actual full screen protector for poco f2 pro?

Every one i try is severely undersized. The nillkin one is so small it doesn't even properly cover the active screen area side to side. It's like it was made for k20...
I need something that covers the whole thing along with side curve so it doesn't make gestures from sides or bottom problematic.
Preferably thin glass.

I am using Smartdevil brand. There are at least 2 variants, non full coverage and full coverage.
I am having the non full coverage, quite good in my opinion as it has no issue with Ringke or Xunnd case. Gesture is working fine too
Other people who use full coverage, usually has issue a bit with case as it is a tight fit.

Can't see Smartdevil brand anything in my country for poco f2 pro. But i've seen multiple items with warning about fit in the case. Perhaps that could be a good marker of full coverage glass.
I didn't have any issue with gestures from side not working on 2 protectors i've tried but the feel of starting at the edge then going onto the protector is not a good feel.
Nor is the nillkin so narrow that the rounded side edge creates rainbow effects when looking at the screen.

Have you tried searching in Aliexpress or Ebay? Usually something from China. The Smartdevil comes with a frame tool, so that you will install the protector correctly.
I can also still feel the side edges, but it is almost flushed with the Ringke case, and it it slightly curved, so it is at least a good feel. No rainbow at side edges. From top view, almost cannot realize the protector (with case installed).

Yeah i saw some on banggod but i wanted to first get some quick.
The rainbow on nillkin was because it was so narrow part of the curved was on top of lit area. As for edge nillkin had pretty good filleting on the edge... it was just htat it was 2mm from the edge of the flat portion of the screen ... if it was right up to the edge it would have been just fine.
Also i prefer thinner glass both for the feel and heat dissipation . As i'm really happy of how well poco f2 dissipates heat while charging at high current compared to 9t pro. Wouldn't want to obstruct it further.
Also i will be using it without any case But i'm fine with some edge as long as it's actually at the edge
Any issues with the under screen finger print scanner using glass screen protector?

i would say depends on quality/thickness of the glass. I do not have an issue with my fingerprint scanner. though sometimes need to scan 2-3 times.

Every one i try is severely undersized. The nillkin one is so small it doesn't even properly cover the active screen area side to side. It's like it was made for k20...
I need something that covers the whole thing along with side curve so it doesn't make gestures from sides or bottom problematic.
Preferably thin glass.

Currently using the Nillkin XD CP+MAX Full coverage tempered glass
http://global.nillkin.com/goodsdetail.aspx?id=4854
Its about 0.3mm in thickness.
Please take note that full screen protectors might be incompatible with cases with hefty raised edges.
I also recommend this Screen Protector.
Its not full screen but more case friendly.
https://www.amazon.com/*******-Screen-Protector-Including-Install/dp/B089GFY99F
package includes :
2 pcs screen protector
1 pcs camera lens screen protector
1 pcs carbon fiber skin protector for the back
frame tool for easy installation.

Thanks for the tip ! I installed it and works great. Covers the full screen, and the coating is really good.
I've used this brand before on my F1 and was impressed by them . And I've now got one on my f2 . Fits the full screen without any air gap round the border . Oleophobic coating is good as well .

Hey man! I know I'm late to the party, but I was wondering if you could help me out...
Do black borders on Nillkin XD CP+ Max cover actual display?
Heard that those type of protectors usually "shrink" display size by few pixels so I was wondering if that's the case here as well. I'm in search for a good screen protector and it would help a lot. Thanks! : )

The Nilkin as said is a great deal. Looks actually as you would have no protector, while it really covers fully and the black borders are same size as on the phone.
It looks lime you have no protector.
