SU-870: Over heating and short battery timing

Hi guys,
I bought my su 870 ( Korean version of p720 3d max) 2 weeks ago. I liked almost everything about it except the issues i will state below:
1. Heats up while charging and sometimes stops charging because of heting up to 55 degrees.
2. Heats up while its on standby and 2g network is on.
3. Heats up while on standby and only whatsapp and yahoo messenger r running in background.
4. Heats up like +&^% while i play a simple game or use the net or use wifi or use play store or pretty much anything.
5. Heats up to n over 55 degrees quickly while watching 3d. And no chance of watching 3d and charging simultaneously. Over heats.
6. Gives only 20 to 25 minutes video playback time on 3d at max. Of course heats up.
7. Gives a 1 hour apps usage time including net. Heats up.
8. After restarting works fine unless i put in even one app from play-store and then it heats up.
9. Heats up while using a simple app like whatsapp or if i simply keep the screen on.
10. Heats up if i charge via the USB and shows slow charging on USB.
11. Heats up if i put it in a pouch.
I've tried task killers, they help but not much, have to delete apps to make it work.
That is all i remember for now but u get my point, IT HEATS UP. I'm running stock unrooted ginger bread 2.3.6. I want to try upgrading but currently have no internet connection. So i would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out. I use my S.G.S.2 in an Xmart all plastic pouch, played full hd videos on the S2 while modern combat was running in the background n it still didn't heat up. So please help me out. I really like this cellphone n i don't want to replace it. Thanks.

probably by any reason you have constant CPU usage. Download CPUSpy and check that.
Download Wakelock and see which program make a huge wakelocks there - uninstall it.
Then if your phone is rooted download SetCPU and set the Governor not to be on Performance, but s.t. else like OnDemand

thanks for replying. i did what u asked. ive only got whatsapp in wakelock with 1 minute average. nothing else.
as ive already mentioned i dont have root.
in cpu spy at
1200 is 3.2%
1008 is 9.8%
300 is 32.6 n 50.4 in deepsleep.
so no problem in there either.
since yesterday ive recharged it twice n during recharge it hovers around 48 degreessometimes 45 or 44. during average use it stays at 38 t0 41 degrees, and in light games goes upto 48, in heavy games it goes well over 55.
its not he3ating up while its either anymore but it hetas up everytime i use the cam or watch video or games. is that much heat normal for this? also it stops charging at around 53 degrees heat
i would like to add the the region on the right side of the battery is where it hetas up so much. in battery its acceptable. And it heats up so much wjile charging and watching a video that it stops charging within ten minutes because of exceeding the 55 degree mark.

I have original battery. Just now when i was charging it chrged to about 60 % and ten stopped charging because it heated up to 55 degrees. just because playstore and whatsapp were open in background and downloading skype from play store via my 2g network. now its slowly cooling down. Anyway thanks for trying vlad.
CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE.
So ive been testing it a lil more. i played a hd 3d movie on it, it was qround 42 degrees when i started movie n it was charging. after 40 minute of playback it is at 53 degrees. no other app running in background. I even monitered the cpu frequency and 1 core was on 50 percent and the other was completely off at an average.
Edit: while testing i kept the back ventilated at 26 degrees temp.
Guys help me out please. is it supposed to go so hot? and does ur cellphone stop charging after reaching 55 degrees? i would realy appreciate any feedback. i dont think any cellphone should heat up above 50 degrees no matter what the condition or loads. my s2 doesnt even when ive got it fully covered wth plastic bag.

my p920 is charging right now (1amp wall charger) , room temp at 31ºc phone temp at 35ºc... even in performance governor @ 1250mhz overclock i think i never saw my phone reach 50ºc and it never overheated.
unfortunately what you describe sounds more like hardware problem than anything else. i would try factory reset just to be sure it isn't some software hogging the cpu and then send to lg if problem persists.

HIGH Temps on S5!?

I just updated to the new S5 Verizon update otherwise known as lollipop 5.0 and i never really checked my temps back in 4.4.4 but my CPU temp is at 110 degrees Fahrenheit(58 degrees Celsius) and 98 degrees Fahrenheit battery (37 degrees Celsius) Im in a pretty warm room with the house temp set at like 75 degrees. Are these temps still abnormal though even with my house set pretty warm
Perfectly normal temps for a high-end device in use in a warm environment. Not normal for an idle device. What were you doing on it? Were you holding it encased in your hand?
You should start worrying around 80ºC.

Its quite normal for your device to warm up slightly during heavy use or in a warm environment. since you've been using it, you would know if it feels warmer than before. Most causes of Android phones heating up are bad battery, bad PSU and heavy apps or processes running. You can read his guide on how to fix an overheating Android phone if you feel it gets warmer thanusual to help diagnose possible causes and how to resolve.

Honor 6 overheating

Hi, i have my honor 6 for a few days now and i really like it, but it is heating up very fast. After recording a video for 4 minutes battery temperature goes up to 37°C and cpu temperature rises up to 60°C and it gets really hot. Even when only browsing it gets hot as ****, battery 36°C and one of the cpu sensors shows even 58°C only while normal browsing in chrome with two tabs, no other tabs open and it doesnt even have 20 degrees in my room. So how are your cpu and battery temperatures of your honor 6? And do your honors also heat up? And what are normal temperatures for this device for cpu and temperature? I have the european variant and updated to emotion ui 3.0 if this matters. And phone was in airlplane mode while testing this. Ive read that the heating goes away after a few charging cycles, can anyone confirm this? My old g2 never got comparably hot to the honor 6 even when playing games. So do you have similar temperatures on your honors and it is normal that the honor 6 heats up quite more than other phones?

Galaxy s6 throttling as hell

Since I bought my gs6 I have noticed the soc temp heat up very quickly and couse a massive throttling of the gpu above all ...so that performances go down of 50% expecially when running antutu ...is that normal or should i send back my phone to warranty
every CPU throttles, the S810 throttles even more, they have to, and don't run benchmarks, they won't do you any good, if in day to day usage the phone heats up it's normal, my S6 do heat up but i never noticed throttling, i never noticed lag when it becomes hot.....try to use your phone normally without ****ty benchmarks...
Thanks for your answer
Yes I know benchmarks are quite worthless ..but it's not just about that..i notice this even while gaming ,browsing and even doing light stuff ..its however pretty much annoying

i don't play games that much, i only play couple of games like boom beach, i don't know if this game considered heavy or light, but if i play it for about half an hour the phone heats up a bit but it doesn't lag at all....in light usage usually it doesn't heat up, but even if it heats up i never notice lag, the phone stutters in some places but no lag.....

Hi,
Please install the app called CPU-Z to check your device temperature. Also keep in mind that depending on where you live, it's easier to heat up than on other regions, as the external temperature does make a difference.
To throttle it needs to get very hot. Check if you have Mobile Data and Location turned on when not needed, and specially Mobile data when you're out of range, they consume lots of power and heats the device up considerably. Also, Wifi if not connected will keep searching for somewhere to connect and consequently will use your device power and heat up.
Another thing to keep an eye on is background apps and the external temperature as mentioned before. On S4 I faced a serious battery drain and overheat problem due to background apps not letting it sleep.
All the best,

Already have cpu z on it
The temps get up to 80 degrees celsius when under really heavy usage ..of course this temp refers to cpu not to battery that stays always around 33 and 37 degrees
P.s i dont notice lag either. .even when performance decrease its good enough..i was only qondering wether it is normal or not
You may have a lemon S6. Return your S6 to Samsung for warranty replacement.

Hi,
80 degrees Celsius seems a bit high to me, like mentioned I'd check with Samsung if this device has a defective thermal dissipation.

yep maybe i'll do
if only someone could send a screen (of cpuz ) showing their temps under usage i' d be able to compare these to mine and see what to do

Hi,
Here's a screenshot of my device idle:
http://i.imgur.com/rS0VHnR.jpg
And here's one of my device after running AnTuTu benchmark:
http://i.imgur.com/hbNIngV.jpg
I noticed that during the benchmark it got to the 80 degrees range, but it lasted a few seconds, if your device get to 80 degrees and stay at it, maybe it isn't dissipating hear correctly.

OK then there must be a problem with my device....I actually donno what other things could couse this abnormal heat but a production defeat....maybe the weather? ? I live in italy and here is 34 degrees..but i doubt it
Hmmm temp of the device cant be lower than your temp of ambient. Ill post screenshot pf mine after some minutes.i live in kosovo and temp here is aroud 33 today
Here is mine... dont forget bcoze case and screenprotector keeps your phone warmer. I dont use any. I use my phone naked

80 sounds crazy not a bit high
80 its high but device can reach that temp sometimes. Example if you play and fast charge same time it can get that temp. And not to forget outside real temp. Here its so hot... up to 40degrees
Hi All,
80 degrees is not as extremely as you might think. People tend to think its too crazy or high because they never would have seen it and the most times they check their cpu temps on CPU-Z it will be hovering around 40-50 degrees. The best way to check your temps in S6 is to open CPU-Z/AIDA64, have it minimised in a smaller window and drag it to the very corner of one side, while this is running, open a game like dead trigger/skyforce and notice the temps. Also, do the same while performing an antutu test. Yes, the scores will be greatly reduced and the temps will be a tiny bit higher because of this smaller window running simultaneously, but you can compare your temps pretty easily. Also, try to be present in a ambient temp of 26 degrees rather than upwards of 30 for a fair comparison with fellow users. According to me, 80 comes up at times but it lasts only for seconds (S6 starts throttling exactly at 80 and beyond that the core clocks gets aggressive reductions) but it will never be constand even while running a game. Mine CPU idles @35 degrees with ambient temp being 26-30.
My temps : (All temps in Celsius)
Ambient temperature 26 - 30 degrees :
Battery temp : 25-30 degrees
Idle : 32-35 degrees
Slight tasks (Whatsapp, checking notifications) : 37-39 degrees
Multiple applications : 38-43 degrees
Game - hungry shark evolution : 47-52 degrees
Game - Dead Trigger : 55-62 degrees.
Ambient temperature 31-36 degrees :
Battery temp : 33-37 degrees
Idle : 41-44 degrees
Slight tasks (Whatsapp, checking notifications) : 46-50 degrees
Multiple applications : 47-55 degrees
Game - hungry shark evolution : 55 degrees
Game - Dead Trigger : 65-70 degrees.
Also i've noticed that the CPU temps increase for a flash second to 65 above while installing multiple apps from playstore. Try updating/installing multiple apps from playstore, have the CPU-Z open, and exactly while the app finishes downloading and starts installing, there will be sudden spikes in temperatire depending on your ambient conditions. But, never reaches high temps constantly.
all right, thank you all guys for your replies. So..i sent my phone back to samsung and got a new one 2 days ago,i can definitely confirm that the phone heats up exactly like the previous one , maybe just slightly less(i mean 3 degrees..nothing craze).
For anyone suffering of this ''issue", notice that temps may drastically change depending on wheater temperature ,humidity, etc. if weather is at 40 degrees ur phone wont surely get to a lower temp.
BTW it s clear that this phone heats up and throttles ,some may notice that others not, so unless you receive overheating warnings or have other serious stuffs on ur device ,do not exchange it for a new one because certainly it ll be quite the same as the previous one. Oh it 's quite clear as well that folks claiming their device doesn't exceed 60 degrees under heavy usage either are liers or super lucky ones with uber super powerful units...think its more probably the first option.
regards ^^

Is this overheating?

Hi guys
I have my Mate 7 Gold edition for more than an year now and in last period of time I'm experiencing some heat coming from my phone that I don't remember experienced in the past. In idle mode it's nice and cool at 27-29 degrees celsius, but when I start browsing and it's normal browsing btw, not videos, the phone gets up to 38-40 degree celsius and I feel the heat on the back of the phone, especially around the camera and in that area. Is this normal?
I did a factory resest but still the same. CPUz says at the status of the battery "good". The phone has never been rooted, it has lollipop and I still have warranty for him until march 2017.
This overheating is normal after some time but also a new mate 7 will overheat after some time because its the problem of the CPU, the CPU's from Huawei Phones are often very Good with a good combination between CPU and GPU which gives you almost a good Performance but it will overheat after some time. So its just a hardware combination problem from Huawei.
i got my phone overheat when doing backup in twrp untill 100 deg C. ( that what is says on the screen) i quickly dump it in the freezer. sometime it overheat it cannot charge at all
usually twrp causing it overheatin bet 50 to 70 deg C
can you tell me what is your phones normal temperature while browsing? i'm just curios if it ever gets to 38C. i don't know why it's going so high from normal browsing
common guys, help me here a little does your mate 7s ever gets to 38 degree celsius while browsing? anyone
mine CPU-Z show this, cluster 0-35, cluster1-36 gpu-35 modem-36, ddr-82, system_h-31, system_l-70, battery-29. facebook, messenger, viberand whatsapp running in background. While browsing i notice me to that it is more hot sometimes but only sometimes.
I went to a store near me and tested mate 8 and p9 . mate 8 went to 35 degree celsius with browsing the web and p9 33-34 celsius. on both i was feeling the heat from the back of the phones, so maybe it's normal and i didn't noticed since now. anyway, i wil pay atention to this, hope it's ok.
