I got a Sprint 64gb S6 on Friday. Since then, I have had some trouble with the camera. The most noticeable is when I go to take a slow motion video.
The image looks fine when I am getting the subject in focus, but then as soon as I hit record the image gets really dark, to the point where you can hardly make anything out in the video.
Does anyone else have this problem, or is there a solution? Is this just a defective camera?
yeah. i get the same problem. And i get that the video is in very low quality. I see frame skip and worse.
Can anyone tell me what should I do to fix this problem?
Hi gang,
Took the beast out for some shooting today.
What I love:
The camera software. All the settings, pro-mode, effects and stuff are really nice.
Camera is very fast. Very unlike some reviews claiming this is the slowest camera out there.
What I don't like:
Pic sharpness. Most pics come out with some water paint effect. Backgrounds, distance shots all come out washed. Macro shots are sort of OK but zooming in, washed out to some extend.
So I played around with various settings, differed sizes, all the same free post-processing effects.
I compared with similar shots I look last week with the old LG G4. Well, they are 200% better. Lets hope this is a processing issue that will be fixed with the next update.
What are your experiences?

Don`t forget we are running pre-release software, an update to smooth things up will come soon. Besides that i don`t recognise your issues on my device so far.
I am on B110. Is this a pre-release software?
I have a major complain regarding camera in video. I think is related to the stabilization. Almost all my video in FHD looks like waves. The image is very shaky. This is my second device as the first one was replaced. Anyone else observed this?
I really hope can be solved in an update.

It's not super bad, some shots are OK but comparing apples with apples, the M9 is not on par with other recent top brand products.

Just tested it to see if it happens here too. Indeed when filming the image stutters on the screen (well, it's night here so not ideal conditions) but when playing it it looks nice, no shakes at all. That was at 1080p, 60fps. At 1080p, 30fps it looks smooth on screen and also when playing it.
Anyone noticed that the hdr mode is always on in bright light?
You will get the same picture with or without hdr, and that's something not good at all.
Is there a setting that turn hdr off other than using pro mode?
Just upgraded today to b126 and looks promising just checked it's 6x zoom and it is great

So, i have had mate 9 for 2 weeks now, not impressed, when i compare it to the galaxy s7 edge, it cannot compete, the galaxy s7 edge wins hands down...., also, the galaxy s8 looks to be worth waiting for, march/april release will see a great phone after their note phones needed washing out with water, lol.
Also, i wanted to ask you, i have the MHA-L00 china version and my Hi voice app only works in chinese, as does the music app, can you post and tell me if your international MHA-L29 has hi voice ((assistant app) and music app in english, if it does..., could i ask that you post the apk install files for these apps in english. As far as i am aware, Hi voice app is embedded into the system so may not be possible.
If possible, i wanted instructions to flash the international rom onto the chinese phone?

Well, I couldn't agree more still having an old good lg g3 by the hand for comparisons makes me angry and sad about mate9's picture quality... seriously thinking about selling the-brand-new-two-months-old phone and returning to LG RAW mode looks like the only hope, combined with snapseed it gives somehow sharper and nicer images.... my guess is that default JPG postprocessing seriously sucks hopefully huawei will fix it in some future updates...

Poat up some comparison photos please.
And what, specifically, is bothering you about the Mate 9 photos ?

I think you're kidding right? There is no way a G3 will come close.
?
Well, the first pic is from the G3, full picture quality, automode, no tweaking
Second pic is from Mate 9 full picture quality, automode, no tweaking.
The V10.... Is resting in peace . Will be getting a MoBo soon from aliexpress and reviving it though.
I've been testing the two on my S7 but I just can't really figure out which one's faster or better. I've noticed some great features on Nougat but opening and closing apps tend to be slow on Nougat whilst on Marshmallow, it handles it well. There are a few minor lags on Nougat that I don't really see on Marshmallow. I don't know, what are your thoughts? I just think Marshmallow is a little bit quicker in terms of performance rather than Nougat.
p.s Does the battery life get affected?
For me nougat is best but.... don't forget it is a recent realese.... isn't a refined version like marshmallow!

I actually flashed back to MM today after running Nougat since the first beta > Final & first update
I'd been looking through some photos I took running MM vs ones I'd taken with Nougat and thought the MM looked way better
Went out today with MM and took a load of photos, and tbh now I can't see any difference betweeen MM and N in terms of photo quality (Haven't tried low light / night shots yet)
In terms of the OS itself, it seems a small but noticeable step backwards in terms of overall experience, little things like fingerprint unlock not being as reliable or quick with MM
The UI seems to take that little bit longer to respond with MM too, a slight hesitation after opening say the Play Store before it opens, where with Nougat it is pretty much instant
Only very small things, but together they make Nougat the better experience, and if low light/night shots with MM don't seem any better than N, I`ll be flashing back to Nougat soon
Few more things to try out, but for me at least, Nougat is the better choice
Nougat is coming along nicely but MM is still my go to. Xposed is too convenient to lose, and camera quality varies on the Nougat ROMs.
I've heard numerous complains about Nougat update for S7E and its camera capabilities after. Heard that generally the camera is worse - there is more shaking, autofocus is much worse (especially in [email protected] mode) and a bit more noise. Overall not good.
I found some issues too, isn't this made on purpose? Perhaps now all testers would say that camera in S8 is better than worsened S7 version?
Here is YT video, I do not agree with all in it though: https://youtu.be/r1w5GfE_CNg
Nothing noticable noise for me, not even in dark. just like on MM. I'm not really using video recording, so that I can't tell the difference, but in taking pictures.. it's just still the best. (Android 7.0 on Exynos variant)
Yeah, the biggest difference is supposedly by the video. I still cannot judge it's true or not in this case.
After updated to Android 10, and maybe with Google Camera 6.3 update? I'm experiencing some weird photo qualities.
In photo mode, the preview image looks like it's running on low resolution (checked the settings and it was selected to 12.2M and the actual resolution is 4032x3024) or video-like quality. It affects the most when previewing the paper with texts. Even after taken the shot, I still feel something is not right (feel, not definitely sure). Everything feels blurry, just like it took a screenshot from a video footage. But I'm sure nothing is on the lens and video mode works pretty fine.
And again, the sound from the videos came back to its original quality, just like when the phone was launched. Google already fixed the sound, but now it rolls back? I can't understand.
But I don't want to be mean just because no one else has the same problem. So I want to be sure if someone also facing the same issues?
Don't worry, it's google's plan for you to buy pixel 4.
UPDATE:
Fixed by uninstalling the latest Google Camera app in Play Store. It seems Google messed up the GCam update.

Funny, but seriously I don't think that's the case since my 1st gen Pixel doesn't affected at all even after Pixel 3 was launched.
Not Alone
I have a Pixel2. The update did the same thing to mine. I've run through all of the suggested steps to fix it and nothing has helped.
