suggestion for lost mate 9 - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

hi all, my mate 9 bought on earlier march have lost when someone broke my house 2 days ago. what do i need to do so the thief cant use my phone at all. in case he tried to steel my picture and document inside the phone. i have tried android device manager but cant locate the phone and i cant use 'lock & erase' feature provide by android device manager. i also tried to go to huawei customer center and they just told me to used HI CARE apps to lock the phone.

Report it to the Police and take that report to your operator together with the proof of purchase. Ask them to block the IMEI (2 if it's a dual SIM model).
This won't prevent the bad guys from accessing your data but the phone won't be able to register with any SIM in your country.

Help in finding stolen HTC Mozart

Hi,
As the title suggests I lost my HTC mozart in the London tube two weeks back.
Though the microsoft live site boasted of features like find , erase and lock you phone I think it is only possible if you switch on the phone with the same sim.
(I dont think any thief nowadays is stupid enough to do that they would just chuck out the sim and use the phone)
I had informed Orange UK (Where I have contract for the phone but alas with no insurance) and they have informed me that the phone has been black listed and cannot be used anywhere.
I had a few queries and it would be really great if any of you would be able to help.
1) If the imei is black likst can it be used anywhere else (Like in India, Pakistan and all where the black listed numbers might not be shared)
2) Can some one change the imei of the Mozart and use it
3) Is there any way to track my phone based on its imei number
Thanks a lot for your help.
(I would now be using my old Nokia E71 till nokia comes up with some amazing Mango handsets)
Cheers

Find My Phone is based on your Windows Live ID and relies on a data connection. So as long as the phone has those two things, and the thief did not hard reset the phone, you should have most functionality.
i think phones's location should be on and your live id must have been configured.

[Q] OPO IMEI Blocked

Hello everybody. Please forgive me for showing my ignorance. I'm very new to Android phones so please bear with me.
I recently purchased a OnePlus One from a friend of mine. I've been using the phone for a week on T-Mobile's network without a hitch. It doesn't work so well in my basement apartment but I still love the phone. Anyway, I went to make a call yesterday (10/11) and "Mobile Network Not Available." I called T-Mobile. I was told that the mfr put a block on the IMEI as the phone had been reported lost or stolen. I can assure you, the person I purchased it from did no such thing nor, obviously, did I. Does anyone have an explanation as what might have happened?
Trying to get OnePlus Customer Service to contact me is like trying to swim through cement, so I'm turning to the pro's here I've read great things about this forum and I'm sure someone here can help me.
I will try anything at this point. If someone could email me, I'd be very grateful. Thanks for any guidance you can offer!
Fred
That's interesting. T-mobile should not have the power to block the imei since it's an international phone. Att doesn't even have the imei in their systems. You haven't attempted to root your phone correct?

Check that you got a valid IMEI at all

Are you in the UK? Did your friend get the phone new from 1+?
Maybe someone got hold of the imei number and then claimed on their insurance by saying it was lost or stolen. In the UK it doesn't matter if it is a carrier phone or sim free, if it is reported on the lost/stolen register it will be blocked and can't be unblocked. It will still work outside of the UK

According to T-Mobile, they cannot block a non-T-Mobile phone, as you say. No, I haven't attempted to root the phone. I know what rooting is but I'm such a technological idiot I would never attempt it.

[Q] Desperately need help getting unlock code for SIM. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Ok, so, here's my research progress so far:
1. My phone is locked to T-Mobile.
2. My friend wants to use it with her At&t SIM
3. Requires unlock code.
4. Call T-Mobile to ask, they tell me I have to ask Walmart Family Mobile cause that's where I got the prepaid SIM for the phone.
5. Last time I used the Family Mobile was like, 2 years ago. I called and they said I'd be eligible for the unlock code if I paid my back dues. They totaled around $109 (no thanks).
6. Try to use the two actually free services online that provide the unlock code if you provide the MEI (waded through leagues of "FREE! but actually pay $30").
7. Internet says something about unlock code being in a BAK file or something, requires rooting.
8. Rooted, installed Cyanogenmod.
9. A couple forums say something about doing ESF backup and doing some copypaste with a file in the backup.
10. Tried like 3 different ESF backup apps/programs, everytime I still can't find ESF folder/files anywhere with my computer.
Please help, I've been wondering a maze for the past 6 hours.
Phone model SGH-T769
There are instructions on this forum for unlocking the blaze. Or just pay.

I'm just curious if you found any answers on this specific question since I'm also having a hard time on my end.

US Mate 9 Blocked for use in the US?

Hello,
4 months ago I purchased a new Mate 9 from Bestbuy I have been using it off and on since then with no issues. I love the device, but had a very strange problem come up the other day.
I had switched to another smart phone, activated it and used it for a bit (vintage Amazon Fire Phone, just wanted to try it out) and when I put my SIM card back into my Mate 9 it wouldn't connect to the T-Mobile network.
I tried resetting the device and chatted with T-Mobile about the issue. They reprovisioned my SIM card but it still wouldn't work (although it would work in my Fire Phone). Finally the T-Mobile rep asked for my IMEI, and when he checked it he said it was "on the US blacklist", and couldn't be used in the United States. Obviously I was very confused by this, considering I was using it just hours before and personally did not report the device lost or stolen.
The T-Mobile rep went on to explain that because it wasn't a T-Mobile block, they could not unblock the device, and that I should contact the manufacturer. So I did.
After about an hour on the phone with Huawei, they setup an RMA to have the device repaired at their service center. They say they can unblock the device for me, and I'm hoping they are correct (or else I have a $600 paperweight more or less). I'm going to be without the phone for 10-15 days while they unblock the IMEI. Luckily I still have my Honor 8 to fall back on.
My question is, have any of you ever heard of something like this happening? I don't understand how this could happen. Obviously the phone is not stolen. I'm not sure how someone else could block the IMEI.
Any insight is much appreciated!
Thanks!
what?...
That sucks. I hope this is an isolated issue. I also use my Mate 9 on T-Mobile and just checked my IMEI numbers on swappa, both came out clear.

here is a scenario for u...Yes you bought it from Best buy legit, but the best buy rep is a scoundrel, and stole your clean fresh IMEI for 1 of his other phones he bought off a website. that other phone he bought was a blacklisted device too..so basically he could have stolen your valid IMEI, and used it for his bad IMEI phone. employees are people too and are subject to criminal actions.

Wow, hadn't even thought about that. I'm a little ignorant I guess, I didn't know you could swap imei's on a phone.

How Do You Change Oneplus 6 IMEI

Yes I know it's illegal in some countries and might damage my phone so thanks if you're about to tell me that.
My Sim is blocked in my country, I have been using my oneplus 6 for 5 months and the Sim was working normally after 3 months it got locked in my country which is a normal thing if you buy a phone abroad and ship it to the country I tried to register it but the price to register it is way to high and I don't have that kind of money. I traveled out of the country this summer and when I put an international Sim card in my phone it works perfectly but when I got back into the country and I put my Sim back into my phone or any other Sim at that it said "Sim card not allowed" so I figured I can keep changing my IMEI and I'd be getting 3 months to use the imei before it gets locked and I'd repeat the process. The problem now is I don't know how to change my imei on this oneplus 6 it's a completely different process from the MTK phone I used before if I use an app to change it with root it doesn't seem to work it would say my imei has been changed but when I restart my phone it's still the same thing. Please help me out how do I change my imei on my oneplus 6?
Please take a read of XDA forum rules, particularly part 9. Next ask yourself "is what I'm asking going against this rule in any way, shape, or form?" Finally, don't expect an answer.
No IMEI change discussion allowed on XDA.
