Yes I know it's illegal in some countries and might damage my phone so thanks if you're about to tell me that.
My Sim is blocked in my country, I have been using my oneplus 6 for 5 months and the Sim was working normally after 3 months it got locked in my country which is a normal thing if you buy a phone abroad and ship it to the country I tried to register it but the price to register it is way to high and I don't have that kind of money. I traveled out of the country this summer and when I put an international Sim card in my phone it works perfectly but when I got back into the country and I put my Sim back into my phone or any other Sim at that it said "Sim card not allowed" so I figured I can keep changing my IMEI and I'd be getting 3 months to use the imei before it gets locked and I'd repeat the process. The problem now is I don't know how to change my imei on this oneplus 6 it's a completely different process from the MTK phone I used before if I use an app to change it with root it doesn't seem to work it would say my imei has been changed but when I restart my phone it's still the same thing. Please help me out how do I change my imei on my oneplus 6?
Please take a read of XDA forum rules, particularly part 9. Next ask yourself "is what I'm asking going against this rule in any way, shape, or form?" Finally, don't expect an answer.
No IMEI change discussion allowed on XDA.

So, like many of you guys, i bought an D2G from ebay this morning. My phone has not arrived yet but i assume its prob locked by verizon. i took the initiation of seeking how to unlock it, and i landed here. After searching tons of thread with the same topic? i will summarize the major two methods of unlocking the device, so later on, people like me with the same problem doesn't have to. (please correct me if i am wrong)
1. unlock code from VZ or vendor (unlock shack seems to provide refunds, so one might wanna give it a try.)
2. turbo sim (i used it for iphone4 and it works, but i cant say the same with d2g.)
couple members mentions some dude in china works out a method but you will have to send the phone in. it just happens to be that i speaks chinese, so i went over to the china great firewall in attempt to search for an answer. Apparently the method is no secret. The chinese said that this unlocking method is done through software and worked the same as the unlock code by verizon. The only difference is after the unlock process, the IMEI of your phone will turn into a 16 digits number starting with 0000. I got class in a lil bit, so this is my search so far. i will keep you all updated with my process. if i find a solution. i will make a tut for yall.
IMO changing the imei number isn't a solution at all. Thanks for info.
Changing imei isn't the solution but rather the outcome of the software unlock, but many said the unlock code doesn't work. I would assume many would prefer a better solution which promise certainty, especially when it's a paid service.
Why bother with esothic methods when you can unlock the phone with an online service and 10$ ?

Unfortunately - not always. Some are "tough nuts" and only Verizon can unlock them. And probably those Chinese guys..
IMEI must be 15 digit though, not 16. I only see problem if they use same IMEI for everyone. Two phones with one IMEI on one network is a call for trouble..
For the record - chaning IMEI number of a GSM phone is illegal in most countries.

Apparently, the method switch the original imei 35xxxxxxxxxxxxx of d2g to 0000xxxxxxxxxxx but digits after 0000 are not identical, from there they can calculate the pin code and is available for free. And as i read more, the chinese change esn for the cdma to work. Even thou changing imei or esn is illegal, i doubt they really regulate such act lol. And chill out on the negativity, a thriving forum are great only if their member share their knowledge and benefit us all. My last phone was Nokia n900, and the phone are still popular today due to the community's contributions:
No negativity here. I will be glad if all those having problems unlocking their phone finally find a way to sort their unlock issue.
Discussions about modifying IMEI/ESN is not allowed here on XDA (as well as most other similar forums) hence I expressed this concern.

I know.
But I still think that any alternative method should be taken in account only if you are one of those unlucky owners, not when the phone is still on its way...
Hi, what about using the phone that has bad esn (and has a sim card slot and works in GSM mode) abroad? An example is the LG G2 with verizon. Can I easily get one even will have a bad esn, unlock it by IMEI and use for example in France in GSM mode?
Or what if I buy phone that is locked at the factory and has bad IMEI in the United States. Is outside the state without any problem the phone is ready for use? or must be factory unlocked because the bad imei do not get IMEI code to unlock. How is it, please explain to me.
I met with different opinions.

Hi,
I am not really sure what you are trying to do and what you mean by "bad IMEI." I am going to close this thread because it is illegal in a lot of places to even discuss the ways and means of changing an IMEI number. This is largely because blacklisting IMEIs from stolen phones is a strong deterrent against phone theft.
Sorry for the thread closure :silly:
Hello everybody.
Thing about Turkey is that when you take your phone from abroad to here, after two months of using the SIM card you bought in Turkey, the phone cant be connected to network.
So i was rooting my phone, changing its IMEI and it didnt work. I also was thinking that it is about the SIM card, that the operator is making the network for phone unavailable,
but SIM card works fine in other "registered" phones. I once have paid around 100 dollars to unlock my Alcatel, and i figured out that everything is being done through software,
you dont leave your phone, they dont touch it, you just pay and give the IMEI of the phone you want to register and prevent it from blocking. Now i am thinking that the best solution was
to change the IMEI on time, and get additional two months with new IMEI. But this is just my modest logic.
I am really wondering what is this about? What do you think about this?
And is it possible to for me to do it by my own without giving away 100 $?
Thanks
Semir

I have a sprint note 5 which due to unpaid bill turned to a bad imei. I found with gttool i can unlock for 35. But before i do so my question is will i get service on tmobile(metropcs) with the bad imei. If it cant ill be flashing a new imei prior as long as they are cheap. Thanks in advance
I am almost positive that the phone will not work on t-mobile w a bad imei. If you have phone active before imei hits blacklist it may continue to work...just never take sim out of phone or youll be swapping imei certificates (once imei hits blacklist it may stop phone from working anyways i dont know). I can unlock phone now for you if you want. Download flexihub and have usb drivers installed.
