Manage Music? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Coming from iphone how do you manage your music on the S8? I know I can drag and drop but what music player do you use and also does it bring in your playlist?

the Play Music app is there by default works like a charm

MusicBee. For Windows, it's the best, really. My library is in FLAC and it converts to MP3 on the fly.
You can choose to sync with specific playlists and it does send the playlists to the device. There's an option to send the content of the playlist(s) but not the playlist(s) themselves as well.

Got ya. Yeah I deleted it. I don't use Google play. The gym I go to is in a big hole no reception so I rely on device music. How's the app pro amp vs Samsung music app vs Google play music
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

i hear ya it plays all your music. I dont use the data on it just listen to my music. So far best music player

You can go to the Galaxy App store and get the old "Samsung Music" app that was included before too.

I download all of the Subscription based music from Google Play locally so I can play it without internet. Love it.

Power amp all the way! It's about perfect.

I'm using iTunes app, as all my music is on the icloud and without downloading it all it was the easiest way to get at my music.

Google play music

Hey all,
I am trying to sync music that I downloaded on my nexus 7 to my s3 via Google play music. I know it sounds like an an easy thing to do but I can't figure it out. The music was not downloaded from Google music though and I think that might be part of the issue. Any thoughts?

It needs to be put into the Google music cloud through the computer. Once your music is in the cloud you can get it on any device with your account on it.

How long have you waited? Often when I install Play Music it seems like nothing is there then I go back and an hour later all my music has thumbnails.

So basically if I have music on one device it has to go onto the PC then into the cloud? There isn't a way to just upload it from any device?

I think Google is trying to help prevent piracy by adding another layer here. But they require you to use a PC. I would strip metadata from the songs ie:downloaded from.... You never know what they will be monitoring. Many cloud services get a bit nosy with your files. Not saying Google has, but you do agree to only upload music you have legally purchased. Also you may have problems with legally owned music due to DRM, I highly recommend Wondershare media converter to strip DRM, and media monkey to manage libraries.
I can't even find my music with google music manager

I can't even find my music on my phone when I connect my phone usb and try to upload music. When I did find a folder with a cpl albums it would't upload em, as if they didn't exist wtf???? I go to an album click to select it and it says folder empty. I googled around and finally found this post which hit on my problem. I also see where you gave advice to strip the data from music or something if you didn't legally buy it
(110% of my music is dl from internet for free) and I'm thinking that may be my problem. If so can someone give a detailed explanation as to how I can fix this prob? Thanx in advance man!

Google Play Music Downloads?

After getting the All Access and which I love, I was trying to figure out if I could actually download music to my device (similar to iTunes), is this possible or no?
Yes you can.
You must make the album that you want part of your library.
Click on it and look for the push pin icon. It's to the right of the album artwork in the grey bar..Click that and it will download to be used offline

As far as I know, no you cannot. It keeps your music in the Play Music cache and it's encoded..or some ****. So basically only that app can read your music.

[Q] Smartwatch 2 + Music app + Nexus 5

Hi everyone,
I just got my Nexus 5 + KitKat and I tryed using the SW2, and everything seems ok, except the Music player as each time I try opening the app on the watch or starting playing music (with Google Music) on the phone, the Extra Smart Music app force closed.
(this app play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.liveware.extension.music )
I was using the Sony SW1 with a 2.3 device and music was OK with Google Music.
Did some of you had any issue with this app ? Or any other solution. It was the one great thing I loved doing with the first watch!
Thanks in advance

Did you ever resolve this? I'm using the SW2 on a Nexus 5 and I tried 2 different music apps that both force close when I try to open them on my watch. Very annoying.
Nop did not find a way...
I will try to get it to Sony, but don't really know if they care that much for nexus 5 users right now...
Ok so I got it to work with Augmented SmartWatch

Yes but Poweramp is not working with Google Music :/

poweramp with gear2(solved)

Poweramp Track Title Doesn't Display on my Galaxy Gear2
When I use the Poweramp app to play music from my phone, the track title does not display in the Music App on my Galaxy Gear2. It works fine with Google Music and Samsung Music apps.
Anyone else have this issue using Poweramp? or how to make it work~
are you saying with the stock music player and google music you play a song on the phone and it automatically shows up on the watch ? , I been trying to get this to work with no luck yet , all I can do it pop music on the watch itself and play music from it.
is there a way to play and control music that's on your phone from the watch ?
or do files have to be stored on the watch, thinking the media controls on the watch would act as a remote for the phone.

Use the "Media Controller" found under Apps on the watch. Not the music player. But I think you can only skip or go back a track. You can't select what to listen to with Google music. You need to start it on your phone first.
Thanks

Poweramps track name works, not the album artwork! You've to check metachanged intent and send "album... into headset/bluetooth menu

I know this is an old thread, but we have a reply from the developer!

Android Poweramp + Samsung Gear S2. Problem solved.
I think this problem is solved.
HTC M8 Android 6.0
-Poweramp 2.0.10-build-588-play
Samsung Gear S2 - Tizen 2.3.2.1 (Last on 27-12-2016)
-Music (0.3.4)
If anybody have don't see album pic or track name, switch ON [Settings-Lock Screen]
1. Enable Android Lock Screen
2. Album Art

Android music download app??

I just switched to android and was wondering if there are any good apps for downloading music, I am currently running stock 5.0 on my Note 3.
Amazon, Google Play Store, Spotify, Shazam... Take your pick; there are a lot of music service stores out there.
