Bluetooth Controls - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I can't control my music player via Bluetooth. No pause/play/fwd/rev. Some issue for both Pairs of headphones and my bluetooth car radio. Audio p,as fine just no way to control it from the connected device.
Is it working for anyone else?

I'm listening right now to Bose QC35 and ev3rything goes fine. The player is neutron.
Search for options in your player ( settings)

For me, controls only work the first time you connect to the car. On the next drive, audio works, but not AVRCP functionality. Disabling and reenabling Bluetooth fixes it for one cycle.

Don't have that problem but maybe developer options and toggle "Disable absolute volume"? Might not work though because I'm not sure if the setting only covers volume controls or all controls but worth a shot

Do you still have this problem?
I had my S8 repaired and since then I can not control music when connected to BT. With my Sont MDR-1000X I can skip tracks and lower volume but unable to start/stop. In my car none of the controls work. Tried other headsets with the same result. Repaired everything.
Coming from a factory reset because of the repair I am not yet feeling another one. Anyone got tips?

A2DP stopped working

Hi,
Yesterday, I installed a new car stereo and after a lot of frustration installing it, I was happily surprised the A2DP worked by default, just paired my touch pro with my stereo, start playing in wmp and it comes through my stereo system. However during the day I started looking for another player to use (during my breaks of course ) and installed pocket music player bundle ( I don't know if it has anything to do with my problem, just trying to include as much info as I can ). In the evening I enabled bluetooth of my phone again, I think I also had the headphone logo, but when trying to play using pocket music player and wmp, it always just used the speaker of the phone and didn't seem to send anything through A2DP.
Any idea how this can be? Is there a setting somewhere to change what audio is used (A2DP/Speaker/ whatever...)?
TIA!
OK, this seems to have been quite stupid.
Haven't been in my car since, but same behaviour with my logitech a2dp bluetooth headset.
Going into bluetooth settings, "right click" on logi_stereoV01 and "instellen als draadloos stereo" (set-up as wireless stereo) did the trick, probably the same for my CAR--BT,sorry for the stupid post.
Although it would be nice if the touch pro would automatically set the detected bluetooth device as wireless stereo every time, just as it seems to do for setting it headset when in range while turning on the bluetooth.
Sorry for the strange sentences... it was a long day
same problem
i just bought a bluetooth receiver for the car.
it fits in the lighter place and transmits via FM to the car radio.
My htc connected staight away (no code required to me) with the new "car Kit" found, but whatever i try i always have the sound from the htc speaker...
How can i solve this?
Thanx in advace.

Bluetooth Fix

Is there anyway to fix the Bluetooth streaming? I hoped maybe another audio app would be more streamlined than the one that comes preloaded with the phone, but they don't allow me to stream music through bluetooth. Right now my phone sucks at streaming music, even when I close every other app open. My last phone never had any problems at all with A2DP, but I can't get this one to play music at the same level which is a major buzz kill. If no fixes are known, is it reasonable to think that this situation might be alleviated with the Froyo update?
I'm having the same problem, and it's a deal breaker for me. I need the bluetooth A2DP to work. This same headset worked on my Fuze for over a year. When I use the headset on the Captivate, the sound starts and after a minute it fades out to nothing. I've tried Dogg Catcher and the default player.
I dont know...I got a blueant Q1 when I bought the phone and I've no issues using mortplayer, default video player, pandora and radiotime over it.
I did have one problem, when i first connected it, my bluetooth was connected as a single bluetooth. I disconnected and unpaired, then repaired and instead of the phone icon next to my bluetooth device in settings I now have a headset icon. So any sound whatsoever that comes over the phone from 'tap' sounds to games to music comes over my blueant....
Main thing I had to do was unpair and repair to make sure I had headphones icon next to my bluetooth device in Settings-wireless and network-bluetooth settings
I am hoping we can get better sound quality with Froyo. My Old Tilt sounded better than this.
I figured it out. My headset is a Jabra 8010. Factory default on the headset fixed it. First I unpaired it from the phone, just for good measure. Turned off the media player, turned off the bluetooth signal and headset. Turned the headset, defaulted it, then turned on the phone's bluetooth, then the player. Not sure if all that was needed but, it's working.
And the sound is much 'richer' than when it was paired with my Fuze.

Bluetooth Issue

I used to have a Galaxy SII that was able to connect to my car stereo through bluetooth with no issue.
With the Tmobile One S, often time my phone does not full connect it will do things like only connect for phone use but not for listening to music. I also used to be able to control moving the songs and I can no longer do that. I also cannot get the metadata to show up on the car display.
Many times a reboot will hook the audio up and I can listen to music, but I still can only go forwards and backwards by using the phone.
Is anyone else having issues like this?
Yep, I got the same issues....A2DP sync problem.
Does it sync your phone contacts too. If so change what contacts are synced only allow google contacts. This was a solution for a similar issue in another thread.
Sent back in time to find Marty.
No, I don't sync my contacts...worked perfectly with MyTouch4G...also noticed headset droid and jays headset control take away Bluetooth control capability...anyone know a work around besides disabling?
Same issue here with my bluetooth headset (Cardo scala rider G4) and HTC One X.
Since installing Jays headset control for my Jays One+ (which is a one-button wired headset) my bluetooth headset control fails big time. I can only use my headset play functionality and after disconnecting the headset the music player starts playing music again within a couple of minutes.
I'll try to disable Jays headset control and let you know if this resolves my bluetooth problems.
how do/when do you select which contacts to send to headset? Didn't see an option for this in Bluetooth settings.
I received the Tmobile update today and I still have the issue of the phone not transmitting the metadata to my radio. Interestingly enough when I stream Pandora the data from pandora shows on my radio display.
Do any of you all know of a ROM that will allow the metadata to be sent from my phone to the radio?
This is the only thing that really annoys me about this phone. Thinking of selling it when the SIII comes out.

Streaming via Bluetooth

Has anyone successfully managed to get the phone to stream music via Bluetooth. I've tried my sound bar, Moto S11's, cars, trucks, SUVs with no luck. I can take calls on all, but no music via bluetooth streaming.
Do it everyday, with both my car stereo for calls and music and also in house with small bt speaker in my kitchen.
Never had an issue with connection once

I do it everyday as well. Listen to music and podcasts over LG Tone+, and it works in my car with Ford Sync too. The volume is jacked when using it with a stereo headset but that's another issue.

Used it in my car several times. Under the Bluetooth settings for the device your connected to, make sure its checked to use a media device.
Do this everyday as well. I connect to my Mazda 3's stereo as well as Bluetooth speakers at home without a single hitch.
Connecting is not the problem. Phone connects fine. All my cars recognize the connection because I can make calls from my cars. I get my calls too. I just can't stream music to my head units. Works fine with my HTC One call and streaming. Just can't get the streaming to work.
I have a budget JVC head unit for my car, and it always drops the signal. (Has done it with the One, GNex, iPhone...)
While the phone is "connected" toggle the source on the Bluetooth receiver, meaning - switch it to AUX, then leave it for a couple seconds, switch it back to Bluetooth and see if that helps. Also when there is music playing, crank up the volume on the phone (volume rocker) because there is a separate volume level for Bluetooth sound versus ringtone volume.
Hope this helps in some way

Ahhhh, your car may not support the media profile, just phone.

Nope. They all support it. My HTC One streams music no problem. I've resetted the phone multiple times and now my Bluetooth file exchange is not working. I'm going to have to RMA it. Which sucks.

In the Bluetooth settings for your car, so you have the box ticked for streaming music? There are two boxes for mine in the seeing profile for my car ... handle voice calls and music stream.
I have switched off voice calls for my Bluetooth speaker in house using the profile settings for that device

After 8.1 update can pause but cannot unpause audio via LG Tone bluetooth headset

Both my wife and I have the Pixel 2 (non-XL) and both have LG Tone bluetooth headsets. I have the 810 model and she has the 820.
After receiving the 8.1 update, both of us can pause whatever audio is playing over the headsets using the headsets play/pause controls but both cannot unpause the audio from the headset.
This is pretty frustrating for both of us as we both tend to listen to a lot of audio books and it is a very common thing to do throughout a day to pause the audio then unpause.
What's interesting though is in my car (Honda Accord) I can pause and unpause without issue from the controls and in my wife's vehicle (Nissan Rouge) it works as well.
This would point to something specific with the LG's or they type of headsets or perhaps using a combo play/pause is the issue? In my car I have a separate button to play and to pause. In my wife's Rouge, it's on-screen touch controls, not a physical button.
Has anyone else run into this issue after receiving 8.1? Has anyone found any solutions to make it work again?
I have fully removed the headset and re-added it. I did a factory reset on my headset. Rebooted the phones a number of times. It will never unpause only but will pause the audio without issue.
Edit: I tried doing a "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth" just to see if that helped and it did not reset any of my Bluetooth settings! I rebooted and tried again and it resets my Wi-Fi saved networks but my Bluetooth devices that have been or are paired persist. Has anyone else run into this?
I made a post over at Reddit about this as well.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixe...t_network_settings_pixel_2_nonxl_81_does_not/
Edit: I did a full factory image reinstall from the downloaded image via fastboot/adb and still have the same result.
I seem to be getting further by trying different combinations in the developer menu for the bluetooth settings. Now if the last used audio app is closed and I push play on the headset it will reopen that app. Prior to 8.1 it would do that and also start playing the audio from the last used app. It's a step in the right direction. I did find a workaround for my most used audio app which is Smart Audiobook Player under the troubleshooting settings to force pause/unpause which seems to work for just that app at least. I still cannot unpause music from the Play Music app or the Audible app though.
