After the Nougat update, the "Unknown Sources" installation option in the dev settings won't stay selected. Is anyone else seeing this? I have to re-enable this every time I install an apk. Crapola.
I'm having the same issue
It's under lock screen and security.... my setting sticks. Can't say I really use it much though.
Mine does also.. And I'm not quite sure its applicable, but I keep my apps updated from sammobile..

They do, and yes the Samsung apps, however, I update them before they even get to the store.. I get them from sammobile..

I check that option, then every time I manually install an apk, it is unchecked and I have to re-check it every time. And yes, I don't choose the "only for this install" option. Not a deal breaker but a hassle none the less.
This is still an issue and super annoying. Any ideas on how to fix?

Yes ever since I loaded the update.

Great. Not even going to ask how we get 2.2 when it is released if we're unable to connect to the server.

As large as it is going to be I would say they will have multiple sites available..or just what till Samsung has it on their site and download it.

Yep. One day it works, the next it doesn't. I thought it was because I flashed to 2.2 but I went back to JH7 and still the same.

I'm afraid something in the update caused a problem. Not sure though.

I'm thinking that AT&T took the servers down because of all the charcoal (bricks) the last OTA caused.
try this solution if still having issues..worked for me:
Got to "Settings", "Applications", "Manage applications". When in "Manage applications", hit the menu key and select "filter". Once in "filter" mode select all. Now look for "Device management" and access it. When in "Device management" hit "Clear data".
Now you will need to reboot the phone. Once the phone reboots, wait a couple minutes and check for updates. If you just recently checked, go in date and time and change the date to a day ahead. This will bypass the ATT 24hr check.

Usually when you copy and paste (word for word) someones fix from different forum, you give out the source. Thanks

Hello everyone.
I decided to post this question here instead of my specific device's forum because I believe it is an issue of android itself, not my phone.
Since a couple of days ago, there is an annoying popup that appears on every boot, right after I unlock for the first time. The message reads:
No location access
Device location for all apps is
turned off, and you might not be
able to locate your device if it's
lost.
Yes, I'm aware of that, since I keep my location off for privacy and battery concerns, and that popup annoys me because it's an extra step for me to take. I suspect it's generated by Google Play Services, but I can't be sure.
Has anyone else seen it? Any ideas to disable it?

I have. And you're right. Its generated by Google Play Services. I got rid of it by disabling a bunch of Google Play Service's services

Thank you very much for your confirmation.
Do you remember by any chance which services did you disable to get rid of the popup? I'm betting doing that will screw up google maps and possibly some other gapps, but I'm willing to do it because that popup is sooo annoying.
Thanks.

Disabling them will cripple the device's location services. Though you'll probably still be able to get your location info by using the GPS only.
Here are the services I disabled
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.locationsharing.service.LocationSharingSettingInjectorService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.nearby.connection.service.NearbyConnectionsAsyncService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.clearcut.service.ClearcutLoggerService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.clearcut.service.PlayLogBrokerService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.common.stats.GmsCoreStatsService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.fused.FusedLocationService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.internal.PendingIntentCallbackService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.geocode.GeocodeService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.network.NetworkLocationService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.internal.GoogleLocationManagerService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.geofencer.service.GeofenceProviderService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.internal.server.GoogleLocationService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.reporting.service.LocationHistoryInjectorService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.reporting.service.DispatchingService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.mdm.services.NetworkQualityAndroidService
Finding them all might be a bit tedious so here's a backup you can restore using DisableService from the Playstore
Woah, that's mighty cool of you. Thanks! I appreciate it.

Using backup. I double-checked and they are disabled
On my Note 4 I noticed an auto update a few days ago which I couldn't stop.
Today, my Skype auto logged out and when I tried to log in I couldn't. I entered my password 4 times and I couldn't log in. I tried login into my PC and it was fine so it wasn't a problem with my password.
So I restarted my note 4 and got this "No location access" pop-up. However I was able to login to Skype.
Are these two things connected? It seems weird. And the pop-up is blatantly scaremongering saying if location is disabled the phone cannot be tracked if it's lost.. yeah Google, on yer bike.

Okay. Try restoring this backup instead. I'm 100% sure it'll work because thats my current config and I'm pop up free. It seems to have broken the smart lock feature though. But if you don't mind/use that then you should be fine.

I really don't know. Maybe it was just a minor glitch/bug in the app. It does seem weird though. But if you're interested in getting rid of the pop up then check the post above.
I just disabled preference service. And the popup is gone.

Running the following on boot works for me too. Any idea what else it disables?
Code:
pm disable com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.util.PreferenceService;
First issue is app badges. When i read message or check missing calls whatever it is general issue, the notification badge on app icon does not reset it self. Badge keeps as it is for 1 hour and then reset. Tried clearing badge provider but no solutuon.
Cant install apps from google play normally, it downloads to %100 and stays as it is. When i kill the google play and restart it then it installs the app.
Randomly getting really laggy with device.
When i am on call with bluetooth headphone and using my device, the device gets laggy. Cant switch wifi or install apps. Its like device gets my actions but does not proceed. When i end calls it starts proceed my actions one by one.
Tried factory reset, reinstalling stock firmware, all same. My device is stock and never rooted.
Btw, I see touchwiz update on sammobile but neither samsung apps or google play does not update the launcher. I try to install the apk from sammobile manually but it gives error like i have an app as same name as it is. So cant update to last version of touchwiz i stuck at 6.1.02
Any help for these issues or explinations? Thanks.
Is your device snapdragon version?

I hate this, only choice is either install a new launcher or long press the icon and select "clear badge."

You tried everything, could be a hardware issue. As for the touchwiz update, it could be for a different version then yours. I wouldn't be worried if you don't see the update unless your seeing other people with the sane phone get the updates.

None issue you mentioned I face it, by the way mine is Exynos edition.
Suggest Factory reset your phone, don't restore anything (this part is freaking important). Start as flash new phone setup.
As for Touchwiz, 6.1.02 is the latest version.
Snapdragon here, none of these issues are present on my device.
Exynos here. I did not facr these issues until last firmware update. After factory reset it was awsome for 1 week. Then again here my problems.
I highly suggest to return the phone to samsung and get a new one.. your phone seems to have a hardware issues.
I only have the common issues which is fingerprint sensor stops working sometimes. I never tried bluetooth so i can't confirm if i have any.
As many here also suggest that you should start fresh factory reset your phone and install your apps directly from the play store. If you had any problems with the playstore don't bather your self to fix the problem go directly to nearest samsung center and ask for an exchange unit.

Snap dragon here and I have no clue what these problems are....thank goodness of course
Use Nova launcher. Problem solved.
Galaxy S8+ Black
clear cache from the boot menu. May help before you return it.
EDIT: SOLVED!! (haven't tested but 95% sure). Did a factory reset and now that everything is back and running the Tap & Pay settings screen actually has stuff in it: http://i.imgur.com/3H3ZiBt.png - Pretty sure that's gonna fix it.
Only thing I can think of that had the slightest chance of causing the problem would be using the System UI tuner app (with non-rooted workaround) to get rid of the all the freaking icons in the status bar. That's the only thing I didn't do when I re-installed everything. Don't know if I dare try installing it again.
/EDIT
Got my U11 last week and I can't for the life of me get Android Pay to work (worked just fine on my Nexus 5). Everything seems set up fine but when I go to to pay I put my phone up to the terminal and nothing happens on my phone, while the terminal says "card read error."
I've tried at multiple stores, , I've even reinstalled the app and removed and added my card again and still nothing. NFC is on and Android Pay is on the NFC Services list.
Also, is there supposed to be anything in the Tap & Pay settings menu? All I see is this: http://i.imgur.com/hNEpBnT.png
I wish there was a way to test this without buying stuff, I keep feeling like an idiot when it doesn't work and I have to take my wallet out everytime.

Yep, latest updates all around. I'm probably gonna factory reset it tonight after I can back up some stuff and start over. If it still doesn't work after that then back to HTC it will go.
Oops, double post deleted.
SOLVED! (refer to main post for details if you care)
I did the adb debloat method successfully (with some errors I mentioned in that thread), but when I connect to the wifi it quickly updated without my permission, despite my attempt to find all update related settings and disable them, I only found out in my notifications that "Last step to update is to restart" from Motorola Software Update, when I check its "info" disable is greyed out, SOB!
This is really pissing me off and making me want to yeet this heavy ass spyware piece of **** surveillance device out the window, I don't want to restart my device now, how do I prevent the device from updating now after restart? Motorola trying to copy Windows 10?
In Motorola Update you have disabled AutoReboot, and as you see your device is NOT AutoRebooted...
Also you can disable in DeveloperOptions/AutomaticSystemUpdates...

I wish your portrayal was the reality, I did disable automatic update in developer settings, even before it did the update. Ofcourse that didnt stop it, hence why the use of the word "malicious" in the subject line.
I've had updates disabled in dev options too. It seemed to work but this was on the z4 from last year.
What happened after the update? Everything you disabled was re-enabled.?
Could you use root and app manager from f-or sunny similar on f-droid to disable the offending app?
Just wondering.
Without unlocking and rooting I do not expect to have control over anything on my device. Even then some apps can be a pain to disable or remove.

Sorry for the delay, it is some sort of Motorolla security update, it already automatically downloaded one without asking for permission, now I get a prompt to download a new one (wtf so you force one but then ask later?), when I swipe up from the bottom to see all the tabs open and delete the update prompt, it will just pop up again later, I can send a photo if you want...

Boot into stock recovery and clear cache. That's the only way I've ever been able to "cancel" an update that's already been downloaded.
However, I don't know if this will still work on newer phones. No promises.
Either clear cache or factory reset the entire phone. FDR would certainly blow it away.

Root ASAP, install Titanium Backup (or similar) and disable all Update apps -- the only way I've ever been assured of blocking unwanted OTAs.
