Got a mail from AT&T to take a survey for the S4. First time I ever got this kind of email. Does it mean they are getting lot of complaints and trying to find issues??

I took the survey also, and though the wording of some f the questions odd. Almost as if they were rethinking how to market the phone.

Got the survey as well. It's bound to your specific account otherwise I'd share the link.
Filled it out faithfully, but mentioned the bootloader lock in every single 'open answer' form.

I got 2 of these before. 1once by email for my Note 1, and 2nd was a phone call and it took about 15min and said I would get a $15 amazon card and sure enough I got one.

I've never received a "survey" like this one from AT&T before, but I did beta test what would eventually become the AT&T Smart WiFi app. They paid me like $50 or $100 in an Amazon gift card if I remember correctly. Was a pretty bad app in my opinion, and still pretty much is. :-/
I was talking to an AT&T phone store employee about his Gear S at lunch today. He told me that they are going to have the Gear 2 for $100 this Friday. Sounds like they are blowing them out!

"Samsung mobile insights" program, buddy. They've been giving out free phones and all kinds of stuff for testers. Just email them and get your hands on some goodies. Got a note 3, an S5, and a gear 2 so far
from my S5 (of course running Alliance beast, I mean ROM)

How did you get one without having to purchase a phone?

it was a black friday instore deal only, they didnt have any in stock either you had to order it,
I went att store and they sold me a black gear 2 for 99.99 and I really like it.
Just grabbed one. Surprised they had one left.

It doesn't work. CF Auto Root requires an unlocked bootloader as it temporarily flashes a custom recovery.

Finally got sick of dealing with vzw. Today we just switched to sprint and my wife and I both are getting the edge. We got the note 4 (retail) on vzw. It's gonna be nice to have root and all the other stuff that vzw hates us enjoying.

Good for you guys!! Id love to make the switch but Sprint Service is awful where i live. I have my own home building company, i need good service over all else. Have fun with root,, the developer edition is coming soon.(I hope)..

Dude that really sucks you can't get decent signal on sprint in your area. Sooner or later vzw and at&t are going to realize that their bs is driving their customers away in droves. It really has a special way of pissing me off knowing I dropped all this money on these phones and I can't even do what I want with them. It's almost like going to a furniture store and buying a recliner and then that store owner dictating certain times I'm allowed to sit in that recliner, what times I'm allowed to put the foot rest up, what I'm allowed to do while sitting in it, and then being forced to sit in it with the store owner at the same time, and then being forced to wait a year to be able to buy a new slipcover for it.
That's just my example of comparing to vzw and their locked bootloaders, insane bloatware, ridiculously long-delayed updates and ridiculous push notifications, (vvm anyone?).
I really hope you get the dev edition if you can't switch and then I hope you torture the ever living hell out of vzw with it!

I registered on 12/07/15, got approval today, 12/15/15. Haven't received it yet, but email states ~4 weeks.
Also registered for the Gifts of the Season promo. No approval as of yet.
Well, it's been 2 weeks and I haven't gotten my code. Calling Samsung is useless and none of the reps knew what to do except give me a link to email their "promotions" department.
I submitted for mime on Nov. 25th, and had it approved the 9th of December. I used it to order a gear vr, didn't have to pay a dime for anything and when it ships... Whenever that is, I won't have to pay for that either. So win win. Good luck.

Weird. I already have mine ordered and the s2 set up for its own line. The rep was a manager that I talked to and he'd been setting them up all day.
I'm really digging the look of the Gear S2 Classic... probably gonna sell the standard model it upgrade to that.

Only if you do it through the website. Of you call in they will not only honor the promotion but will also send you the watch with your phone so you can get them at the same time.

So you got the S2 3G version? Does that require a separate data plan, if so, how much is that? Will it only work on Verizon network?
Thinking about pre-ordering by calling Verizon, but want to gift the S2 to someone on another carrier.
