Can someone give me an idea on a better option of a carrier? I have simple mobile but the data is so extremely slow. Anyone know where a better option would be? Gettin rid of my cappy,isn't happening lol

At&t has good coverage, in exchange for your wallet and first born.

Att is not that bad if you have a friend/buddy right you up on a corporate discount. I'm saving 20% by "working" for Coke.

Ahh, too true. I've known some buddies employed with them. Amazing discounts. And they do let you have android devices now, instead of just the iPhone.

I have a droid x with a bad esn. My buddy lost it and the insurance company sentt him a new one and when he found it he gave it to me. Im trying to find a quide on how to flash it to another carrier but I can't find one anywhere

a droid x will only work on CDMA networks.....and will likely ONLY work on verizon.

Well see I'm not quite 18 so I can't get a phone In my name yet and I've been in four contracts and was the only one who payed the bill. So for another 5 months I'm stuck trying to find a good prepaid deal. And it would be nice to have decent working internet. I'm wanting to go back to at&t but I think there prices are fixing to go up once they buy out t mobile

Don't think anyone knows but i hope they get it.

Don't know either but my fingers are crossed. My guess is that aosp is a little too "open" for Verizon's likes.

Currently I don't care for an pure google phone becuase i'd probably root it and installed CM7. But it would be nice to get one.

They bent over backwards for Apple because they have been kicking themselves since they passed on the iPhone the first time. They saw the chance to steal a big amount of AT&T iPhone users and jumped. Now if they actually stole a lot of AT&T iPhone users is a different matter. I don't think they stole that many so far. I think when the next iPhone comes out, they will see a big influx.

What do you mean? Google phones are MADE for rooting and flashing custom ROMs.... and in fact the Nexus 1 and Nexus S both have CM7.

I said what I said because Verizon changed their closed ways for a iphone... Not sure why they wouldn't do it for an Android phone. The nexus phones are sellers as well and if they really want to take away users from all carriers (not just at&t) they need to have one in their line up.
They will be able to take advantage of having the fastest network (while they still can) with a 4G nexus phone.
Talk about killing it! They would rape the competition having an iPhone and a 4G nexus phone.
The time is now if they are smart.

xoom was only stock because they didnt have time to mess it up, not because moto was trying to be ambivalent. They wanted to rush it out before the ipad2.

Why. I had a nexus one running cm7 and now I have a Tbolt running cm7. Yes there's a lot of development support for the device but im happy with the tbolt.

If you guys are still selling your phones, I would recommend putting an ad up on your local craigslist. Before I dove into the root world and unlocked my SG4G to its full potential, I posted an ad up to sell my phone for $200 and got all kinds of offers. This was about two months ago.
Sad to see many people moving away from this phone. Although I do believe it is becoming outdated, I still think its a great phone nonetheless. I'm personally holding onto it because I will be spending a year abroad and have already unlocked it for international use.

As much as you could sell iPhones / Galaxies on craigslist for I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often to people
It's basically like if you're in public showing off that you have $400 - 500 on you that is easily taken.

If you have the right software law enforcement can track down the phone. I would assume that people who steal phones at gunpoint aren't very tech savvy.

Sadly, Samsungdive was my only option. The phone has probably been sold and factory resetted already but i'll be sure to install some tracking apps next time. Experience comes at a price!.

When I saw the the thread name I thought to myself, this is definetly a South African as this happens far too often down here with some people losing their lives over a damn phone.

The GS4 is worth it, definetly, got my GS4 as my GS3 broke, used my GS2 for 2-3wks and got GS4 on launch day, and I've been happy ever since, it's a lovely phone, more refined than GS3.

Get one that you can install as a system app so that when it is factory reset it doesn't go away unless the buyer knows about rooting.

One of my s3's got stolen also
I was thinking to skip the s4 this year and replace them both with s5...but i sorted out with my insurance and on monday i go to get a s4

Cerberus is brilliant and totally controllable from your laptop / pc / or another phone... it can take photos of whoever tries to unlock and puts in to many false attempts.....

if you like to hack and mod that is. If ralekdev and other devs find an exploit for boot loader unlock chances are it will be in the release firmware. Remember Loki on the S4. How many of you still have that?

All the firmware has been rootable for S4......MDK was special because loki worked on it for bootloader bypass.

I wish I could be done with VZW. Wish wish wish.. I just need the the coverage. I'm so tired of them. The only time I have to deal with them is when I have exchange a defected device.. Which happens every time I buy one but it's enough. I pay $90 a month for unlimited data/txt and 450 minutes. So I'm happy about that. Oh yeah, I deal with them when I want control of my device. They don't want me (or anyone) to have it.

The exploit is actually kinda 'old' however doesn't the OTA just happen anyways? So unless you're paying attention to your phone it will just download

to my knowledge ive always had to accept an OTA.. hopefully the devs could give us root way before an update to fix it so we can get rid of the damned ota

The only update I've ever dealt with was last year with my S4 when it upgraded from the MDK baseband. I don't remember the original one, but I remember I lucked out big time and when I ruined my phone and got a new one when I turned it on it basically almost immediately did an OTA to which I put in airplane mode to stop. Now I'm not 100% sure but I don't remember having to click yes or OK for that OTA

But if people have already accepted OTA before now, they are OK, right? Because this exploit is very new so I doubt it would've been fixed before that. The first fix I see for linux was on June 4th and I have no idea how that translates to phone OTAs

Most likely you are correct. The OTA they have been pushing is older so it's likely that the exploit will still work. I wouldn't accept any at all however if you can avoid it. I'd imagine they'll push the patch for this soon.

How do we know if our phones have the update already? I got a new s5 and have had zero Ota pop up since I got it 3 weeks ago.
