Root explorer problems - General Questions and Answers

Phone sm-g900t3 (S5)
Root supersu
On my phone, Root explorer has problems launching apps via touching the file when file is located on the external sd card. The launched app acts as though the file is nonexistant.
When the file is on internal storage, there are no problems.
It used to work ok though. I've tried erasing cached data and uninstalling and reinstalling.
Any suggestions?

I've figured this out. Root explorer has a tabbed feature. I had been opening root tabs instead of a local storage tab. Root tabs are not meant for normal usage ands cannot open apps by tapping their associated files.

[Q] How to save apps from GooglePlay? In .apk format?

Is it possible somehow to select some installed applications from google play, and save them to the memory card?
For example, when I am at home, with wify I download and install
"TeslaLED" - Torch Led Flashlight
"OsomAnd" - Topografic Map & gps.
"ES File Explorer File Manager" - File Manager
Then, After the apps are installed, I go in the wild far away in the mountains, in the cottage / refuge. There I have a friend with an android phone but there is no wify or internet acces, so I can take my external memory out and put it into his phone to install the apps and copy the maps, or transfer them over bluetooth.
How can I make this possible?

My phone is not rooted and I don't intend to root him, at least for now.
For some strange reason backup and restore app did not worked, but
I managed to save the installed apps (.apk) from the Phone into the PC with MyPhoneExplorer. Then to the external memory card.
However, you have to be carefull at the install time of myphoneexplorer (the pc part) as it has some adware/pup (install also some reg cleaner if you hit yes).
Problem solved, Thx buttons pressed anyway.

I think The Reason For not working of your app was The cHeckbox Unknown Resources Found in Security Setting.... Have you enabled it?

[Completed] [Q] deleted file recovery in root directory

The file that has been deleted is data/data/com.kakao.talk/databases/KakaoTalk.db
The told kakaotalk.db file has been deleted and was replaced by a new kakaotalk.db
I tried use data recovery programs but those only appear to recover data that is located in either internal storage (storage/sdcard0) or sd card (storage/sdcard1)
Is there any method to recover this file? I know root explorer can access and titanium backup can back up app data located in this directory, but wondering if there are any specialized deleted file recovery program that can scan this area to recover deleted application data

There are many recovery/undeleter apps available in Play store.
Here is a thread about it: General discussion > General > Storage Card - Deleted file recovery.
Some apps are free, some not. You have to read the app description and ratings, then check yourself.
Good luck !
Tried every recovery app available on google store. Only DiskDigger undelete appears to be able to scan the root area (other apps only scans internal storage and sd card). However that app only appears to have option to scan for and restore certain file extension (only pictures images and document files), and not .db files...
Is there any way to mount the root directory as a drive that could be recognized by the PC, so I can scan it using recuva or something? When I connect the device, only SD card mounts as a removable drive. Device I use is Pantech Vega LTE-A IM-A880S

Yes, recuva is good ... used it myself to restore files on an external sd card.
As I am notr sure about our device and there is no specific forum for it on xda, please post your question in the General discussion > Questions and Answers forum.
Hopefully someone there can give a better advice.
Thread closed and thank you.

[Q] Can't delete folder in internal storage

hi, im having problems deleting a folder in my internal storage.
my phone is Lenovo A328, stock rom, rooted, and running on kitkat.
i didn't do any tweaking on my phone besides rooting.
i noticed while browsing my internal folders, in Android/data there is a folder named "com.com2us.soulcollector.normal...." 16.74mb in size.
it's from the game soul seeker, and i've already uninstalled the game, i tried to delete it but cant be deleted.
here's what ive done so far:
-i used other browsing apps like root explorer and root browser
-renamed the folder and delete, but can't
-moved the folder to other location in internal (cant move to external), still cant delete
-downloaded the game again and made sure the folder name and location is the same. then uninstalled the game, still the folder is there.
-edit the permission but cant.
-reboot device
-clean junk files using clean master
i dont want to restore or reformat my device. its a pain trying to download and reinstall again all my apps.
please help!

Try remounting /data as RW.
So, if you're using ES Explorer, open menu, inside Tools, click on Root Explorer.
Then click Mount R/W. And mount all partitions as RW.
This may help

Micro SD card write protected - Facebook prime suspect

My phone is rooted. I am using Lenovo A7000 phone with AOSP 6.0 by Risma Ermaya.
I have formatted my SD card as internal storage using the default feature of marshmallow.
Few months back, I started facing the issue of Facebook and Messenger updates. Whenever I used to update my facebook or messenger from the playstore, these apps stopped opening and used to crash. But after I used to restart my phone, these applications ran fine. A week ago, I installed instgram for the first time in this phone. Similar thing happened with it too. After installation from Google Play store, it did not open. However, after restarting the phone, everything went well.*
Yesterday, I was updating facebook, I got the error 403. I cleared up data of my playstore app after forced stopping it, removed all my google accounts from the phone, and rebooted the device. After rebooting, the error was still showing up in the playstore. Feeling frustrated, I forced stopped Google Play services framework application, cleared it data and rebooted my phone. But, the problem was still there.
I have got into deeper trouble now. My microSD card has become write protected. I did not remove my SD card at all since months. It is of sandisk brand and has class 10.*
I cannot take screenshots. I cannot download any file from chrome browser. I cannot download images sent to me by my friends through whatsapp.*
I cannot even copy one file in its folder to another folder in the memory card. I have tried using the default file explorer and Solid Explorer application. I have just 587 MB remaining in my phone. However, I can access any file I want to. My videos and music are playing just fine.*
I am also able to delete any files within the file explorer, so that I can make a nandroid backup of my files in TWRP. Even TWRP does not allow me to delete my music and videos within the SD card. What should I do to fix this trouble? I do not want to format my SD card as it has lot of important data. Even if I connect my phone to my PC and try to copy the files, the process hangs after few seconds and Windows explorer hangs which is displaying the content in my SD card. I am running windows 8.1.
I have also tried unmounting and remounting my sd card using the in built feature of Marshmallow, but this trick still doesn't solve my trouble.*
I have also tried clearing cache and dalvic from TWRP but still no progress. I feel that facebook is the culprit because while clearing cache in TWRP, it gives the error that it could not clear cache from com.facebook.katana folder.

Titanium Backup can't write to external sd card in nougat.

..
loner, I had similar if not same probs, but saw post somewhere here that recommended going to TiBu's Prefs, Backup Folder locaeion, & going to the pick bar for 'Storage Type' ]ust above Tibu's Detect button, choose Document Provider & I found it left it @ External Storage & I just hit Detect fm there, & it 'found' my directory w/Tibu backups & after closing & reopening TiBu I've been back in business, able to have TiBu see my card… & TiBu backups in TitaniumBackup Dir of my microsd card.
There may be something that requires you go to root of card & hit Select button on lower R of screen, but its late & that may be coming up in my mind as a requirement for granting access to Solid Explorer & the ilk when 1st trying to do a File Manager type task I.e. copy or moving files… but
it could be an issue here as well- I'm happily protecting my user/system apps w/TiBu & using backed up apps to delete the main app, re-d/l w/PlayStore. & restore my data W/TiBu restore to confirm I had a buggy version of the app...
