Titanium Backup can't write to external sd card in nougat. - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

..

loner, I had similar if not same probs, but saw post somewhere here that recommended going to TiBu's Prefs, Backup Folder locaeion, & going to the pick bar for 'Storage Type' ]ust above Tibu's Detect button, choose Document Provider & I found it left it @ External Storage & I just hit Detect fm there, & it 'found' my directory w/Tibu backups & after closing & reopening TiBu I've been back in business, able to have TiBu see my card… & TiBu backups in TitaniumBackup Dir of my microsd card.
There may be something that requires you go to root of card & hit Select button on lower R of screen, but its late & that may be coming up in my mind as a requirement for granting access to Solid Explorer & the ilk when 1st trying to do a File Manager type task I.e. copy or moving files… but
it could be an issue here as well- I'm happily protecting my user/system apps w/TiBu & using backed up apps to delete the main app, re-d/l w/PlayStore. & restore my data W/TiBu restore to confirm I had a buggy version of the app...

[Q] Cant restore backed up apps with Titanium?

I used Titanium Pro to back up all the apps and bloatware on my G2X. When I try to restore any of the ones I have un-installed the restore option is not there. I think it may have something to do with the external - internal sd card. I also keep loosing the icons to some of my apps (the ones on sd) inside the folder on my home screen. How do I restore these apps that I have backed up??
Ps I have used titanium many times on my rooted cliq with no problems.
my backups are on the internal sd.i've restored a few times with no problem i haven't updated mine though. using an older apk. i've read people are having issues here and there with titanium. so i'm sticking with my old version.

IMHO Titanium Backup has always been great with user apks, but very lacking with system apks. I'm not sure if it's trying to actually "install" system apks or what, but I've never had any luck with it.
Anyway, you should be able to just push the apks back to your /system/app/ from one of the roms or backups you can find here.
Have you checked the path to the folder that your backups are in with TB?
There is an option to change it in settings. You may have to reboot after changing it.
gonna give that a shot. Thanks.
Having trouble with my Titanium Backup. I backed up all my user apps + data, wiped and installed a new ROM. After getting it back up w/ new ROM, market, install titanium (w/ pro key) and go to restore apps. None of my backups show up. Batch > "Restore missing apps with data", shows 0 apps. When I go Preferences > Backup folder location it shows the folder (mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup) with all my backups it in, even says "This folder contains 62 backups".
Any help on how to restore these would be greatly appreciated.

On the folder location screen choose detect and choose whole phone. It will search for the directory your backups are in. If that doesn't work then i'm guessing you may have formatted the location where your backups existed.
Try this..

What happens when you install CM7 is that the sdcard directory now points to your external sd card rather then the internal that comes with the phone.
the internal is now at /mnt/emmc
Get root explorer and you will see what I'm talking about.
Once you have root explorer just copy the titanium backup folder from /mnt/emmc to /sdcard and you should be able to restore all user apps with data... however DO NOT restore system data from stock to CM7... big headaches.
Hope this helps!

Titanium backup question

Newly rooted xoom and have free Titanium backup installed and would like to backup to sd card but I cannot find an option to backup to the sd card. It is backing up to /mnt/sdcard/titaniumbackup now.
I cannot find an option to change it to the external sd card.

Create the folder on your sdcard first, then go to the options menu, backup folder...hit detect. It should detect the other folder then. If not you may have to backup a file and move it into the new folder first, then hit detect.
Sent From My Evo
Preferences, Backup Location, change to /sdcard/external/TitaniumBackup
Spaces are not supported.
I emailed TB support and found that I could hit the soft back key on the zoom and it would see all the files instread the few on the screen. I then found the file I would to backup in /mnt/sdcard/external and TB created the backup file there.
The key was finding that I could search for the file using the soft "back" button.

[Q] Titanium Backup, SD Card, Empty Folders?

So, I rooted my new S3 today and was seemingly successful.
Now, I want to restore all of the applications that were on my Droid 2 (SD card is transferred into my S3).
When I connect the phone to my PC and look at the SD contents, I see all of my old apps and data.
However, when it's disconnected and I open Root Explorer or attempt to restore with Titanium Backup, all of the folders appear blank. I mean ALL of them. Music, DCIM, Tit Back ... seems to think there's nothing in anything.
Can someone clue me in?

In TiBU hit menu, select preferences, and there will be an option to select backup folder location. Then hit detect, and choose "whole device". It will find your backup folder. when it does, select the folder, and then hit use current folder.
... and there we go.
Thank you!

TB No Longer Working

Hello all!
I recently decided to wipe everything (including internal storage) just to have a clean start. Everything on my SD card remained unchanged, including Titanium Backup files.
After a fresh load of a ROM that previously had no issues, Titanium Backup no longer sees my files. I moved them to the internal memory as well, but no luck. When I change the folder location, TB sees the files, but no backups appear in the list.
I don't know what happened but I cannot restore any of my backups at this time.
What have I tried so far:
Wiping data of TB
Reinstalling TB
Reinstalling fresh ROM again
None of these items have helped at all. I do not believe it is the ROM as TB worked on this ROM previously (BrokenOS).
I think this is a folder or TB problem.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
Also, my apologies if I left out any crucial details.
Kevin
Bump?
What directory do you have set for TITANIUM to save backups to? To check .... Go to MENU > PREFERENCES > BACKUP FOLDER LOCATION
Now, if your backups are on your SD CARD or INTERNAL, hitting "DETECT" will find them and you could select that folder location or you can browse to the path yourself if you know where it is.

Titanium Backup - Write to External SD fix

Hey guys,
I see a lot of people asking how to get Titanium Backup to write to external sd and restore from there by default on Marshmallow.
Here's how to do it
Open the app and go to menu
Select preferences
Select Backup folder location
Set folder to external
Then click Storage provider
Select Document Provider storage
Select the 3 dot overflow menu
choose Show SD card
then swipe the menu over from left to right and select your SD card
Then hit the Select button at the bottom
this will bring you back into the choose backup folder screen within Titanium
Either create a new folder in there or if you already have a folder called Titanium, just select that and then push use current folder. That should do it for you and you should be good to go.
Keep in mind my old fix for Titanium not working at all on even internal still applies. So if you're getting errors with backing up you need to go to your SuperSu app and in settings disable "Mount namespace separation" then reboot.
Thank you for this... I really needed this............
