random static noise after Nougat update - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

So far I am liking the Nougat update...
However, I started having an odd issue after the update.
Specifically, if I connect a headphone on the jack, it emits an audible short static noise...
Also, when I am watching a movie with a connected headset, it starts to emit a loud "white noise" through the headphone.
If I disconnect and reconnect, it seems to go away.
If I pause the movie and hit play, it will randomly start to emit a loud "white noise" until I repeat the disconnect/reconnect the headphone routine...
I have rebooted the phone and verified that it still has this symptom. I have cleared the cache and still does it.
I did a quick Google search and seems that there was someone with an S7 that had a similar problem after Nougat update as well... Problem is, no replies in that posting...

Thank you.

I'm having this same issue on galaxy s6 after my update the other day. It's deafening. I've found a few posts here and there on the subject but nothing helpful.

[BUG] Crackling sound on calls and music, can anyone help?

Hello,
I am a proud owner of a couple Android Phones since the HTC G1, the HTC Magic and so goes on.
Now I was very excited to get the Nexus S, but on the first day of use, after making all the updates to 2.3.2 and installing all my usual apps, I noticed a crackling sound when hearing music from the speakers.
I can not find the reason of this but would like to know if someone had a problem similar to mine, and if yes, if it was possible to solve it.
There are some facts about this crackling noise that I point as follow:
- The crackling sound is not present all the times. The phone works well when playing shorts sounds like ringtones and notifications. I can hear everything crystal clear;
- When I start to hear a song (tried many different players, all the same problem), or when I am playing a game that uses constant music or sound effects, the crackling sound starts after some minutes of perfect sound (usually between 01:00 and 01:30 of good playing);
- It seems like a irregular white noise, like playing a corrupted MP3 file, that gets in the middle of the media;
- It beguns with a low volume compared to the media and gets louder as time passes, until it gets more frequent and as louder as the music playing;
- At first I thought of a broken speaker, and checked the headphones, but the crackling sound appears when listening music on both headphones and external speakers;
- Then I noticed the crackling sound appears on long voice calls too.
Well... I thought it could be something related to the software, so tried the OEM recovery process (Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset), but it was not sucessfull.
[Q] Does anyone had a problem like mine?
[Q] Could someone point what could be the cause of it or a possible solutions?
Thanks in advance.
Jon
I noticed the same thing while listening to Pandora. Not sure what's going on. I'm on Modaco and don't know if its something in there or not.
I hear the noise after about 30 minutes of pandora.
I'm having the same issue running Modaco while listening to music via Spotify.
Just got back to the stock ROM, I'll see if it's any better and keep you guys posted.
I can now confirm that stock ROM is not affected by this issue.

[Audio Issue] Moto G HISSING STATIC constant with apps

Please help me. :crying:
Motorola Moto G 16GB, updated to 4.4.2.
HELP MY EARS!! Most notably when using earphones, I get horrible hissing, static hissing whenever I open an app that outputs sound. Even with something like Google Voice Search popping up and playing the dum-dum sound. This happens even when I turn the volume down to 0. I've gone into Sound settings, disabled Motorola's EQ, put all other volumes (notification etc) to 0 as well but nothing has helped. As soon as the app stops outputting volume after a second or so delay, the hissing goes away. For example when a YouTube video stops playing. It's driving me nuts. Google shows that it's a common issue after the 4.4.2 update or something.
I also use the app Fine Volume Control V2 across all Android devices I use since I find the minimum volume to be too loud, even with my TF300T. Thinking this was an issue I've uninstalled said app, rebooted but alas the static hissing remains.
Don't say you can't hear it, you need some half-decent headphones/earphones to pick it up, but oh dear god it's painful. Same symptoms described in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611599

Sound Bug - Bottom speaker sound going through ear speaker/not working at all.

Occasionally the sound in the bottom speakers will stop working and some apps will play through the ear speaker instead. When this happens Google Music, Youtube and some other apps won't work at all. For example pressing play in either of those apps does nothing, as in the play button never changes to a pause button. My alarm app on the other hand plays through the ear speaker instead of not working at all. The ear speaker sound volume is very quiet and doesn't appear to be controlled by the media volume either.
The only remedy that I've been able to find for this is a phone reboot
Wanted to bump this thread -
I originally thought this issue was related to Bluetooth because I use multiple bluetooth devices, but this has happened again recently when I didn't use any Bluetooth devices.
I have the exact same issue, and it's occurrence is random. This started happening a month back. I'm guessing this is due to some software update or something, but its really annoying and the only fix is a reboot.
Anyone has any ideas, whats going on ?
It's been happening multiple times a day lately! It's gotten substantially worse over the past month. I was watching a video, sent a text and when I went to resume it wouldn't play - low and behold the bug came back.. definitely appears to be completely random.

This problem is driving me crazy
I have the exact same issue. Factory reset and update to newest firmware didn't help any idea?
Wash your phone. And wait till it dry.
I (and other person that I know) have the same issues.
No sound from bottom, and sometimes during the call no audio (I can't ear evrything and the other don't ear me).
Now I'm tring the mobile phone in safety mode.
And I've seen (for the edge version) that next android could fix the problem.
Someone have any update?
Have you tried the safety mode?
Im pretty sure its caused by Facebook messenger and Skype
From what I can tell, this seems to happen when you are playing any kind of audio, such as a video or game, and then receive a notification. You then go to the notification to respond to it and go back to your app that was playing the audio and the issue appears. It seems to be an issue, at least with me, whenever notification is received and subsequently answered.

V4A painful white noise

I've been using Viper4Android half a year, but one week ago I decided to push it further with DDC and everything (Making my own profiles for headphones).
So my DDC profiles and others work fine, but sometimes an extremely loud white noise starts to sound (it hurts). It happens when I press play to listen to some song, and instead of playing it, the only thing that sounds is that painful noise. It also happens when opening any app, and what is weird is that it also happens when my headset (bluetooth) is not connected, so it sounds through the phone's speaker, and it sometimes happen when i'm in classroom so it's embrassing sometimes. I would say the problem starts when I change the source of sound, for example when moving from spotify to youtube.
To stop this, the only thing I can do is turn on and off the master power button in V4A app, or restart the phone. Android's volume slider does nothing, by the way.
My driver version is 2.5.0.4, I've got neon enabled, audio format is supported and sampling rate is 48KHz. I'm using Xiaomi mi A2 with the lastest version of android, got the bootloader unlocked and rooted via magisk.
This is the first time I post something here, then sorry if there is some thread about this bug already, I've been searching for it before posting.
(Edit): Tried to download new version (2.7.1.0), and still having the same issue.

Question Headphone Volume Drop when Workout Detected

Background - I have a Galaxy Watch 4 and use it with Jaybird Vista 2 headphones. I listen to music via YouTube Music on my watch.
Have an annoying issue, wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Whenever my watch detects a workout, the volume drops (e.g., say it's at ~70% - it drops to 40%) enough where it's annoying. I'm able to turn it back up, but then if my watch determines one activity is done and then I start something else, it will do it again. Happens ~2-3 times if I'm at the gym.
I tried looking in options on the watch and my headphones, but couldn't find anything that could be controlling this. I don't recall this being an issue previously, so not sure if it's a bug in an updated version or something. Honestly not sure if it's a headphone issue or a watch issue.
Any ideas?
