I can't download bootloader unlock file... how did you download PB2-690M_unlock_7M.7z file?
Successfully Rooted!
Damn! Rooting this thing was a TASK. But after a struggle of few hours I was successful (Without any bootloops)
Tell us more
The rooting process is same as in the link that's there in the first post of this thread.
A) Unlock Bootloader
B) Disable Secure Boot by flashing patched boot.img (See details below)
C) Install Extended TWRP Recovery
D) Flash SuperSU
Here's what I did:
1. Unlocked Bootloader
1. Downloaded the FW PB2-690M_S200100_170228_ROW_QPST firmware and extracted boot.img from it
2. Unpacked the boot.img, made edits in the ramdisk\default.prop and ramdisk\fstab.qcom
3. Repacked boot.img with these edited files and flashed it
4. Flashed Extended TWRP Recovery
5. Flashed SuperSU and then install the app from play store.
6. Checked by any root checking app.
7. Voila! Result = Success!
Hope this helps
PS: Detailed guide is the first post in this thread. Do go through it for what or which lines/files to edit in boot.img and also for download links for the firmware

Yes, you may reflash stock. Although you'll need to reverse the entire process. Flash original boot.img and the firmware and lock bootloader.

This method doesn't work for the phab 2 pro PB2-690Y. I would pay to have root on this phone. It's very surprising there isn't more people developing for this phone. Basically non-existent.

Pardon me, but I would want to understand why this method won't work with PB2-690Y when it works perfectly with PB2-690M? Yes you'll need the proper respective firmware to extract the boot image but that's it. Everything else should be same.
Well I don 't have the proper firmware and tried the firmware given. Not sure where I would get the firmware.

That's bad. Because the Russian Lenovo forums (from where I downloaded my firmware) seems to only have the one for 690m at the moment.

Correct. I definitely would have used the 690Y if it was available. I'm pretty sure the only difference is 690M is international and 690Y is US. I've tried every other method known of rooting but none work. This is my favorite phone I've owned but lack of development and accessories is killing the phone.

Can any one say whether the Canadian 4.4.2 has multi user enabled, if not has any one tried to apply the multi user hack.

Fix?
I recently did the Samsung update to Android 4.4.2. I've tried multiple times to root my device, but each time, the SuperSu has not functioned properly. The first time it would not update correctly, so I tried a different .zip and the SuperSu in that one would freeze every time I would try to use it. Will this fix the problems I am having?

The procedure is same for unlocked bootloader (for rooting you don't need to downgrade if unlocked but since you're rooted it matters not).

Is this called original Shield in the forums?
If i want to root it and perhaps install twrp and a custom rom i can't follow K1 guides?
thanks.
Yes, that's called the "Original" here. But you can follow the k1 guides here since the hardware is virtually identical and twrp and roms work on both model. For rooting the stock rom I would use cf-autoroot.
How to just enable root permission? No ROM change.

Hi,
I'm looking for a solution to root Huawei Mate 20. I couldn't find much on web search about this topic.

My phone got an update about a week ago. The details didn't mention Anything about boot loader unlocking but when I checked after the update, there was the ability to unlock the bootloader.
I have already opened the developed settings since november but the bootloader unlock option was greyed out and could not be turned on. I read a post from a different thread that his phone recently got an update with the option to turn on the bootloader unlock option. I have been regularly checking for update since I read that post and so last week I finally got it. I am now able to toggle the switch but I did not finish the process because I want to make sure it doesn't cause any warranty issues. I have been a Samsung user and I am very familia with the "warranty void 0x1" issue so I always waited until my warranty was over before rooting my phone. That way everythung has been tried and tested before I take a leap. If you do get the update please post your experience in unlocking the bootloader and eventually rooting your phone.

Maybe try kingroot? If it gets the job done on the pro version it might do it here as well.

Perhaps but you've installed a new version of the Android Bootloader which interfaces with fastboot. Possibly the Q upgrade also changes your partition layout, I don't know.
The link can be easily found on google but here it is anyway.

Anybody who solved this problem? Having the same problems here
It's a known issue. For now, you could try flashing fastboot Pie ROMs. Next time you flash any ROM, flash TWRP afterwards.
If flashing fastboot ROMs also give you problems, then your only remaining chance is to use MSM download tool.

Same but in 9.0.8
fastboot boot twrp.img just doesn't seem to work under Android Q anymore. I have the TEST version of TWRP and that doesn't flash with fastboot boot either :/
So I also experienced this problem last night. Had to forego sleeping just to get it to work. Thankfully it's a Sunday.
Anyway, after extensive searching, I have concluded that it is indeed caused by an updated bootloader that disables the "fastboot boot" commands. The OP7 Pro also has this problem.
Unfortunately, flashing stock Pie fastboot ROMs don't fix the problem. I tried flashing all the way back to OOS 9.0.5, but it seems like the bootloader didn't revert and is still unable to accept "fastboot boot" commands.
In my case, I needed TWRP to flash Magisk. Fortunately, we can install Magisk without flashing via TWRP. It's as simple as installing the Magisk Manager APK from topjohnwu's github, and patching the OOS 10 boot.img. I believe there's already a thread somewhere here that provided the patched boot.img. all we need to do is just fastboot flash boot magisk-boot.img, and we should be rooted. I can even install some mods.
For the fastboot issue though, I don't think we're gonna find a fix any time soon.
I have the same Issue.
Went back from Q Beta to 9.0.9 Stable and also flashed the original bootloader.
It's still not possible to fastboot boot TWRP. I'll hope this will be fixed soon...
