I think Protected Apps is replaced by "Close apps after screen lock".....You can find this in Settings > Battery > Close apps after screen lock

EMUI 5 ram management problem

I need SIP client to be always accessible, but SIP app stops registering after an hour or so (this is the app I use - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.nn.helios_mobile&hl=en).
On other family members phones (sony z3c, iphone) this app works without any problems, but my honor 8 seems to always kill this app (or somehow stop it from registering to sip server).
Is it just this app or is it honor 8 memory management problem? On EMUI 4.1 there was a function to add apps to protected apps list, but it's not available anymore.
Go to your App infos then click on Battery, you can then choose whether to keep this app running after the screen is locked or not.

"Close after screen locked" option for this app is OFF.
Or is there any other option I don't know about?

Hmm.. There is another option that automatically close excessively power-intensive apps. Check if that's off too.
(I can't remember where to find it on Nougat, I'm on MM now)

That's weird,
suppose this problem comes from RAM management, you can choose to prevent an app from being purged by clicking on a lock from the task management screen (it's right next to the X that closes an app).

Notifications are hibernated and widgets are not updating itself

After I've updated my phone to oreo, 2 annoying things started to happen:
1., If my phones screen is turned off for longer time, I don't get notifications from apps like Google Calendar, Keep. It's super annoying, because I missed one appointment today just because my phone decided to not notify me.
2., The widgets are not refreshing itself (Dashclock Widget)
I've disabled the battery optimizations for my apps.
Any ideas?
Return to Android 7. I ve done rollback successfully. Oreo for Honor 8 it's like a beta version
You could try this, it worked for me on this app/service . I was having trouble with the Three in touch wifi calling app losing the network/disabling after a while with the screen off.
Go to settings > apps and notifications > apps > then the app you want > battery > launch - then disable manage automatically and make sure the options under that are all enabled, ok that and see if it's worked.
Worth a go.
(You can also do this from settings > battery > launch > then pick the relevant app if the first way doesn't work).

I've disabled both honor's battery optimization "features" and the Doze as well. This was the first thing I've tried.

OxygenOS/Adroid Pie keeps autokilling or refreshing background apps

So ive been having this issue recently where the phone will turn off apps that i want to run in the background and i cant figure out a way to fix it. The biggest issue is with AdGuard. When im using it, the phone will randomly kill the background process and the vpn will turn off allowing all the adds to come pouring in. I've mentioned this issue on the oneplus forums and nobody there seems to know how to fix it. I'm considering moving to a custom rom once i find one that works well with my needs but first i want to make sure this isnt something that i can fix on the stock rom since i dont really need all the custom settings that come with custom roms. Im running the latest stable 9.0 pie/OOS.
Thanks for any help in advance
When you open the recent app tab press on the 3 dots right above the app. The press lock. That worked for me
did you set it to not optimize in battery settings?
under battery optimization. disable advanced optimization.

Ive enabled the lock and it still clears it and i have to reopen the app and re-enable the lock
Ive also set background process limit to be unlimited in the developer options. I cant think of anything else to do except maybe install adguard as a system app???? I've seen that this problem occured with the OP5 as well and people modified build.prop to increase the process limit, i've since found out that the option thats in the build.prop file is gone in the OP6 so i cant do that either. This is driving me crazy and i dont even know if its related to the os or the kernel.

Alarm App Killed

How do we prevent Samsung from killing alarm clock apps? Mine didn't go off today. I had specifically whitelisted it so that it couldn't be put to sleep. What else should I do? Any ideas? It's really frustrating... Samsung is so aggressive with that sometimes.

I'll try that. I also FINALLY found a way to choose specific apps to NOT "optimize". It used to be way easier to find. I can't even remember how I found it now, haha. It was buried somewhere.

Not optimizing a app still doesn't stop it from being killed..You have select Not sleeping apps or select option to not sleep apps after 3 days of non use

Really? Once I chose to not optimize it, it removed it from the list of apps that I had manually chosen to "never sleep" so I figured it just excluded that possibility entirely. That's... Weird!
