Small rant to Motorola for not keeping their word - Moto Z Guides, News, & Discussion

Update:
Funny enough, I posted my rant a day before Motorola decided to provide an update on this.
http://phandroid.com/2017/04/10/moto-z-focrce-play-motorola-power-pack-mod-delayed/
I'm still disappointed on how "March" became "Spring".
Original text:
This rant is specifically due to the Moto power pack that needed to be available in March 2017, and Motorola didn't keep their word.
If you don't care about moto mods, nevermind this thread for you, please be respectful to my opinion.
One of the reasons I bought this phone is for the Moto mods and the open development (with incentives) they promised for new moto mods.
When Motorola walked in the stage and announced all of the 2017 moto mods updates, and tagged the new power pack to be available in March, I was sold on it and probably to the Z2.

Sadly, it is April 8th and still nothing about the mods, and specifically nothing about this new power pack "available in March", I am very understanding of companies not being able to meet their goals but the lack of communication is unacceptable.
I've tweeted them twice about this but they didn't care to respond.
If they walk to Mobile World Congress and promise something to an specific month, they should at least care to provide updates on the topic, if they can't execute on a single battery mod, I here warn people interested on this phone, that they wait to the Moto mods they want to be available before buying a Z-family phone. Just logic thinking, based on facts.
We can't allow companies to just talk out of their butt and then walk off like nothing happened, we paid a LOT of money, directly or indirectly, for this phone.
This is the problem with the industry overall, OEMs do whatever they want and we allow them to, these companies care less and less about commiting to customers and more about pleasing their directors and CEOs.
No wonder why Apple is such a big success, they too talk out of their butt sometimes, but I have to give them credit for their commitment to customers, and say that this is one of the obvious reasons of why Motorola is just a joke sub-company of Lenovo.
You walk in with an in-warranty, truly malfunctioning iPhone 7 to an Apple store, get the phone troubleshooting on site, and walk out with a new iPhone.
You try to exchange an in-warranty, truly malfunctioning Moto Z, and good freaking luck with that. I am serious, good luck, you might get a replacement in 3 days if you need to, hopefully.

They really need to get their crap together...

Motorola support has gone downhill ever since the Lenovo takeover.
Though from what I've heard, it's also pretty bad before they were Googli-fied.

I was gonna say the same thing.
Also they voided my warranty when I unlocked my device. This never happened with LG or HTC. I've claimed my warranty even are rooting the device multiple times.

Hiphone Iphone clone

Has anyone on this forum got or seen anything about this Hiphone.
It's suppost to be the closest clone of an iphone yet and was wondering of you xda-devs have came across one in the flesh so to speak.....
http://www.live25.co.uk/content/say-hello-hiphone
Thanks
EWW thats ugly i dont liek it
Coders and developers needed!
NOW!For all you Hiphone Iclone users there is hope come visit and support us at http://hiphonepro.freeforums.org and spread the word so we can get the developers to listen.
This thing has so much potential!
I wonder if the developers here might help us find out the mysterys of this phone and crack it open for development the phone is excelent but the firmware is limited and undeveloped it has alot of potential to surpass the iphone with just about anything the developer wants to add
Hahaha this thing looks so stupid
It looks as if someone build a foamphone like those foamfingers people use in stadiums and what not.
Don't get it, I am sure it has lead in it.

The Americans have a big thing about lead used in products at the moment, im talking about trace amounts of lead that don't mean anything but they have blown it all out of proportion, so for example my nokia 6300 has a chromed 4 way navigation button, in the manual it says dont put it next to your skin for prolonged periods due to lead content.
it is basically scaremongering to get the US public to stop buying products imported from china
I know I was being facetious.
I am sure all phones have lead, especially on the boards and chips inside, it was a joke.

I may come across that way.
Although I have spent the majority of my life in the states, I have spent a significant amount of time in the UK.
I lived in Southampton for a job until I was made redundant the moved back and still travel there now on business.

I live in China and this kind of Chinglish is everywhere, I love it. There is a second-hand market near my apartment with a huge sign reading "Chicken-hawk Fun Market" with a picture of an old man holding a teenage boy's hand....it's almost like they do it on purpose

Why would someone do anything with this phone, don't promote it, there's about as much potential in this phone as the one pictured above.

I am rich (software)

can some make this ridiculous SW (misspellings and all) for our devices, pleeaaaaase.
[sarcasm]i would love show-off this mockware to all the of those who aren't as rich as me.[/sarcasm]
eight people actually bought it? I guess that means we have eight CONFIRMED idiots on this planet.
wonder how many unconfirmed
i suspect it's mind boggling
LOL. I saw this on giz. I was ROFL'ing for like 5 minutes. And did you guys read about the dude who "accidentally" bought it? LOL
NO... We have more than 8 idiots. You have to include ALL THE APPLE STAFF who approved it in the first place. They probably only took it off when the 8 idiots complained and demanded their refund for the $1000 they spent.
This definitively looks like nice piece of software. I hope someone can develop such a useful and good looking application for our Windows Mobile devices. Otherwise, i might seriously reconsider buying an iPhone.
P.S.:
Congrats to developer of this original app. Nice way of earning few thousands $$ for few seconds of work. Way to go, good thinking!
And all this just proves that iPhone is just a toy for really rich people and true high-tech work of art only for idiots.
"I am rich" for Windows Mobile
Thanks to Julien we, WM users, finally have the chance to try this great app.
It looks like it's still in development. It's not fullscreen yet, but it's still free, so if you want to try this fine piece of software, now's the time.
Download here
YYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS! I just saw it here:
DL'd it and immediately ported it to my "iPhone"

i am, though, disappointed that the 'deserv' was spelled "correctly." argh, oh well. it's well worth the $2,000.00 i donated for this little gem.
Well, I guess it is still in development so it has some minor issues. I'm sure that fullscreen and misspelling will be added as soon as possible. But this is promising start and we will soon be as sophisticated as iPhone users. I also think that many iPhone users will migrate to WM devices since this app is no longer available in Apple's App Store, so we can expect at least few tousands new xda users in next few days.

600 per cent jump puts Android ahead of iPhone

APPLE fans scoffed when the press said it was an "iPhone killer".
Now Google's smartphone operating system Android looks to have lived up to the hype.
Research firm Gartner reported today that Android's share of the smartphone market grew by more than 600 per cent in the past year.
In the third quarter of last year, Android accounted for just 3.5 per cent of the market.
This year it's got 25.5 per cent.
That puts it ahead of Apple, Microsoft and the makers of the BlackBerry.
And to add insult to injury, those three all saw their market shares slide rather than grow over the past 12 months.
Gartner said Android's takeover was especially prominent in North America, the heartland of Apple fandom.
The firm said that in the third quarter of 2010, more than 20 million handsets running Android were sold worldwide.

Its because the iPhone is only on AT&T. If it was on every carrier, more people would have iPhones, including me.

true as either way.Apple will understand but too late for him when android eat it away
You see that chunk taken out of the Apple logo? Android did that
Now if SPB would hurry up and release MS5 for consumers I might consider getting an android phone next

A Dead Horse Yes but still some info none the Less

I know this has been discussed and talked about in the past but every new bit will hopefully get us closer to a source for more fantastic roms to be made. The article made me laugh with the first line of the article but like i said hopefully there is some truth behind it.

Those Froyo upgrades are coming real soon now, a Samsung exec repeats.
BARCELONA—Samsung's chief strategy officer said Froyo updates for Samsung's Galaxy S phones are "imminent" and explained why the company chose Nvidia to supply a processor for its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in an interview here at Mobile World Congress.
Samsung has sold more than 10 million Galaxy S smartphones, but most of the ones in the US are still stuck on the older Android 2.1 OS. The 2.2 update is finally really, really close, Khan said.
"Major carrier upgrades are imminent. They're right around the corner," he said.
Samsung has come under a lot of criticism for not delivering the updates, which the company originally promised would arrive in 2010. Future updates will come more promptly, Khan said.
MWC (Mobile World Congress)
"We're competitive and we plan on remaining competitive. We're like to be as quick as possible," he said. "The only way we can prove ourselves is by delivering future upgrades."

Laughing their asses off
We have heard this for how long now? Not flaming the OP, but Samsung that continues to regurgitate the same old line.
So, what part of this "info" is of any use at all? Same crap, same Craptivate.

wheres the deadhorse.jpg?
They have been saying that a FROYO release is really close for almost a year and now 2.4 is to be released by the end of this summer. Do you really think that 2.2 is any closer to being released after another article was put out to the world.
KHHHAAAAANNNNN!!!
I've read this whole article a few times now and it never says the guy's first name, just calls him Khan.
The Epic forum has a thread running wild with sprint official retail screenshots from actual employees saying froyo will be released 2-21-2011.
Damn, it is gone now. Disappeared! I mean deleted not locked.
These threads need to be deleted this is worthless ****

No more Samsung. Which manufacturers aren't as slimy as Samsung & Sony about rooting?

No more Samsung. Which manufacturers aren't as slimy as Samsung & Sony about rooting?
Hello all and welcome to my first thread, nice to be part of the community.
Now then I've Rooted my SG4 and flashed various ROMs and had lots of fun doing so.
Unfortunately for me, that device was stolen and I was given a new one.
Upon flashing that device I had realized this one had security I wasnt familiar with, KNOX.
(Not a post asking about the KNOX or Galaxy)
Anyhow upon further research of this unknown function, it is the devils bane to all Samsung rooters.
I find the creation of KNOX enough to encourage me to not purchase another Samsung device.
And now the plot unfolds
Id like a powerful phone that I can root with little consequence (Other than bricking or corrupting my phone)
While rooting voids warranties, at least it was possible to reset the counters in the past. (B.K)
The LG G2/3, Nexus 5 & HTC One seem to be the best devices fitting my criteria.
What phone would you choose for your rooting fun?
I have faith that someone will find a way to work around KNOX. I've been exploring different routes to getting root on my GS4 with 4.4.2. I never would have updated if I would have known. I guess I should have researched Kit Kat a little more.

Well I would stick it out with Samsung, but since it won't end with Knox, I'm jumping ship now.
I'm leaning a lot towards the g3 when it comes out. Same processor as the s5 but better everywhere else.
I just wonder if LG, or HTC have contingencies like Samsung does.
well thats all very sad. Samsung is turning into the new apple, and if LG lags on support, IDK about Sony phones never considered buying one.
That just leaves what HTC and Motorola

If you want something that will remain anti-root security free, and is both powerfull and affordable, as well as has massive official and custom developement support, the Nexus is the obvious choice.
Sorry folks, there are already several areas for this..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620179 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229761 are just a couple.
