Hello, sorry for my english, im from Argentina. You see, my grandad died a half a month ago (RIP Enrique), and a week ago, my mom offered me his J7. I accepted it, but it has a password set on. I proceeded to get his SD Card out and backup all his files, such as photos and that stuff. But from there, i dont know how to acces directly the phone. I actually own a Moto G4 Plus, with unlocked bootloader, and a custom ROM . From my experience, i suspect that you can flash a stock ROM whithout an unlocked bootloader, while it is the correcta one and it isnt modified. But, before doing anything I wanted just to check if it would be all right. Alzó, if i can unlocked the phone without erasing everything would be amazing. Thanks for your help

I've never been in a situation like this but. Can you acces to the stock recovery? There is a recovery where you can wipe everything, but I'm not sure if Samsung security has to do with it, maybe it won't let you wipe your phone because it has password? Idk, but it worth a try at least.
You acces to the recovery turning off the phone, then pressing "VOL UP + HOME + LOCK SCREEN" keys.
Just choose wipe data/factory reset/cache and restart. That'll do it.
*When you're inside the recovery menu, you can "move" through itwith the vol up and down buttons. Then to "select" an option you just press the lock screen button

As said before in post:
OPTION 1: Do a factory reset from Stock Recovery. (VOL UP + HOME + LOCK SCREEN when you turn on your device, then navigate through the options)
OPTION 2: Flash a stock firmware with ODIN
Chose one.
Let us know if you need further info about it.

question about particular stock firmware ?

so i went to this website:
https://romfirmware.com/2017/07/28/huawei-honor-6x-bln-l24/
and it has some different firmware things for the honor 6x BLN L24 model.. and one of them is a point version variant that says can be flashed through twrp?
will this work should i trust this?
edit// on the site it says the version for it is BLN-L24C567B360 however mine is BLN-L24C567B366 (5.0.1 EMUI..i think B360 is EMUI 5.0?)
Rommco05 said:
You have a newer firmware on your phone. Yes point version can be flash over twrp in some situations, same like over dload

can you explain what dload is to me? this phon is my first phone ive had that i could really do something with in the rooting community.. my other one was a galaxy grand prime with no rom support or any img files and it got bricked cause i of course had to screw with the build.prop file XD
Rommco05 said:
You must turn off the phone before installing. You need to turn it on with holding all 3 buttons ... vol + + down + power button, after that will start installation

okay... so after i extract the particular recovery image i need.. i reboot to the fastboot menu, use adb to flash over the img, like i did with twrp... and reboot into the stock recovery menu?
Rommco05 said:
Basically yes. What you need to do after?

put the update.app file in a folder on my sd card called dload. and update from sd card?
also i got two files.. recovery.img and recovery2.img... which do i use ?
okay so i read on a thread for the honor 7 having two recovery images... one being the stupid erecovery crap and the other being normal recovery menu? and i guess im able to get both regular and twrp running together on two different partitions somehow?
Rommco05 said:
You can not have two recovery on your phone. For you, only recovery.img is important. Why do you need to replace twrp for stock recovery?

i ****ed up my phone... the good backups i had with twrp got ****ed up and are some messed up rooted version running a stock rom where the sound doesnt work at all, speakers headphone, blue tooth calls, apps, etc and camera doesnt work (front and back and camera app doesnt run) and i cant watch any videos on any app.. so i was going to restore the stock firmware
i still use adb reboot recovery to boot into the regular recovery menu ? (not erecov)
alright.. im stuck again.. i rebooted to recovery and it gave me 3 options. reboot, wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache partition... what do i do to install the firmware??
see its almsot 4 am for me right now.. if you could just talk me through this i would be okay..
never mindd i looked at your previous reply
and i believe its stuck at 5%
alright well it just rebooted and it didnt restore the stock firmware..i still have all my apps and **** and nothing has changed
do i have to factory reset it now? or..

nothings working still . camera, sound videos, etc.. still broken.. phone still rooted.. i followed this other ugie i saw on here where you wipe all partitions and things and then do the file from dload and things, and it still stuck at 5%?
heres another question.. when i went through the firmware finder i got 3 files.. update.zip, update_data_full_public.zip, and update_full_BLN-L24_hw_usa.zip they all contain a update.app file... am i using the right one? im using the one from update.zip
now it appears to be stuck at the boot animation screen.. fml
//edt: standby... i actually havent finished the guide..
yup.. i dun ****ed up.... i cant use adb to reboot to recovery.. say null device not found..
i can go into fastboot by doing power and vol down... if i do vol up and power to try to get into recovery/twrp/whatever, it does nothing and does the normal booting process.. holding all three down just does the automatic sd card install thing that doesnt work... what do i do? i think i ****ed it up
well as far as i can tell my phone is bricked cant boot into recovery via key presses or adb.. i get device not found on adb..
fastboot works and i can flash still but i cant get into twrp or anythin i dont know why..
if i let it boot it just stays at the bootloading animation..
am i able to do factory reset from fastboot?
//edit: i did fastboot erase userdata accoring to some websites online.. no success in booting... is there anything i can do at this point?

Disconnect the phone from the usb and switch off. Turn on and hold the power button + vol up when you see the Honor logo release power button but still hold the vol. Now you should be in recovery, perform factory reset

thank you so much for that little tip i thought i ****ed something up that was preventing it from going into recovery..

"Type password to decrypt storage" Honor 8

Hi.
Last year I tried to root my Honor 8... i failed. I've managed to unlock it but i did not root it (idk why, i just followed a tutorial but nothing happens as it should).
My phone was JUST unlocked. Not rooted. I just had this beautiful message when I boot it "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted. Visit blablabla......."
So I wanted to recover it... but i couldn't, using android or the huawei recovery thing.
So I decided to follow some tutorials (big mistake, i know nothing about this world). I tried to flash the stock rom...
I downloaded "Huawei Multi Tool by MT" and I "flashed stock eRecovery images from an online database" (choosing a randon version)
It worked but now, I have this message "Type password to decrypt storage" every time I boot my phone. I already tried to take out my SD card, to reset factory from the recovery (did it many times)... nothing works.
I can try every password, it says that "the password is correct but data is corrupt so you have to reset" ......................
im afraid of losing my phone right now
I had FRD-L09C432B394
Android Nougat
EMUI 5.1
If you could please help me or send me a link, because i tried several tutorials but ... none correspond to my situation, my version etc.
Thanks !!
Best thing I can think of to do off the top of my head is flash twrp and flash magisk. Then install titanium backup to backup all your apps. It is going to require you to read and learn a bit, but not doing so is what put you in this spot to begin with.
Ok but... How? I think I can't access to bootloader. I can only access to this HUAWEI recovery thing if i press power for a long a time, and if i don't, it asks the password..
Something to do with my pc with USB connected?
btw i dont need to "backup my apps"... i dont mind if i lose all my data. i want it.

Yes, holding down Volume Down while your device is connected to PC will boot it to Fastboot mode. Flash TWRP (search this forum for the link) and the inatall the same FRD-L09C432B394 firmware files (update.zip and the rest) through TWRP. Once done, reboot your device to recovery (this time it will boot to stock recovery) and perform a full factory reset.
I just had the same issue, I rebooted in recovery mode by pressing "volume up" and the built in recovery told me the partition was corrupted and asked if I wanted to format it

Phone broken because of TWRP change file system

I used a video on youtube to install TWRP on my galaxy s7 (SM-G930F)
Almost everything worked fine, except I was not able to make a backup. I got the error "Unable to Mount /data". A lot of videos told me that I need to 1. wipe 2. advanced 3. change filesystem 4..exFat and then EXT4. I tried this method, but TWRP froze after some time during the exFAT change process. Now my phone tries to boot into recovery mode, but won't go further than the very first screen of TWRP (where you see the version number and the logo).
What should I do now? I tried to reflash TWRP, but it still doesn't go past the very first screen. I am also not able to turn off my phone, because it keeps rebooting into recovery mode. I think that I need to find a way to change my filesystem to EXT4, but I cant do that with TWRP.
Can somebody help me plz (and sorry for my bad English)
press vol down + home button + power button to boot into download mode and reflash stock rom.
download rom from here https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

I just tried this, but it does not work.
Odin says that thread has successfully flashed all the files. My phone is installing the software update and erasing, but after that the screen is black. I cant boot the device or even enter recovery mode (download mode still work). I tried both flashing CSC and HOME_CSC, but both didnt work.
What should I do now?

The same thing happened to me. Keep trying to access the TWRP even if it takes a bit longer than an hour it will enter. You do not have to do anything else, just keep trying, when you access, you'll be able to repair the partitions, change them to fat32 instead of exfat, and then return to EXT4. It will work.

I need help. I relocked my bootloader, and now my phone (OP7P) won't even turn on

So over the past day I had rooted my oneplus 7 pro and all was going well until I decided to delete the netflix stock application. Then I restarted my phone from holding the power button and pressing restart and then I booted into fastboot. Everytime I pressed start it would send me back to fastboot but I was able go to twrp recovery. Stupidly, I wiped the whole phone thinking I had no other options. Then after that, I found a setting in advanced that allowed me to leave recovery mode I think? Whatever it was, I was booted back into the oneplus start screen and reset up my phone. Then I tried to re-root my phone and couldn't get it to work because it said the magisk zip file was corrupt. Then I just decided to give up and go back to stock.
Little did I no, you are NOT supposed to relock the bootloader, because that is exactly what I did. After doing that, I got a message saying my phone was corrupt and I looked up quick solution and it said to press my volume buttons and power buttons. Now my phone won't even turn on. I am freaking out right now, knowing that my phone is probably bricked and I am going to have to pay probably a third of what I even paid for this phone to get it fixed. When I plug my phone into my pc the device is shown as "QUSB_BULK_CID:0404_SN:3BB285D7". If any of you guys can help, I'm all ears.
edit: I meant I locked oem/bootloader. Also, I got the phone to power on. It is in a bootloop where the oneplus logo shows up and then it gives me the message "Your device is corrupt. it can't be trusted and will not boot"
edit 2: After two hours, I finally fixed it. I downloaded the MSM tool and found the qualcomm drivers and after a few trial and errors, I finally got it to work

U probably should have flashed stock firmware before relocking the bootloader
As long as you can boot into fastboot you should be good. Make sure you have correct drivers etc etc. Boot into fastboot and just boot into twrp, don't flash. Wipe data, system, vendor, dalv, cache. Recheck on what to delete and what order because it has to be the correct things and I might be mixed up off the top of my head, delete them in twrp. Then boot back into twrp after all that and reflash your custom rom. Take note if your ****s bricked you wont be able to install the zip via regular twrp swipe, you will have to use twrp sideload feature with adb and install from pc and install it that way. If that doesn't work at all just do a complete reflash of stock firmware via fastboot. Reflashing custom should work though I got mine out of a brick this way. As long as fastboots working you can get out of anything. Also Linux is 100x better than other OSs for this stuff.

OK here's the order. Boot into twrp, don't flash.
Wipe -> ADVANCED -- select system + vendor -> SWIPE TO WIPE
reboot bootloader
fastboot boot back into twrp
-- then --
Format data, Wipe cache & dalvik-cache
Flash ROM.
Then reboot system. Boom.
Remember you will most likely have to flash the ROM via sideload. As transferring will not work in a bricked phone.

Question samsung a536E stuck on bootloop

hello everyone, today i tried to flash twrp on my phone (rooted with magisk and running stock samsung rom), the flash was successful and i was able to boot into twrp but i coudnt access my storage or anything else, so i saw a guide saying to change the filesystem to ext2 then ext4, after i did that i could access most of the other folders but not the storage foldier as it still showed 0mb. i thought i just need to reboot my device to fix the issue but now im stuck on a bootloop. i cant poweroff the device since no button combination is currently working. is there anything i can do to power it off or do i have to wait a few days till the battery drains to 0?
[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP for Galaxy A53 5G (Exynos)

forum.xda-developers.com
this is the link i used to flash twrp except i didnt follow the wipe instructions because i dont want to use a custom os.
and if nothing else works and i have to wait a few days till it drains to 0, will i be able to boot back into samsung's recovery mode or is this device hard bricked?
help will be greatly appreciated.
This phone doesn't have the nice feature of holding the power button for force off so that is a negative here.
I don't think you should have edit:changed the partition types. If that was necessary it would be a ridiculous thing for other Android roms to have to do. Its all Android so should have worked without that.
Its unlikely that anything new will result from a cold boot verses a warm boot. Worth a shot I suppose but don't hold your breath. Expect nothing new.
If its stuck without Odin, fastboot, ADB, all buttons not doing anything, can't ingest and do something from sd card, can't show up via USB on computer, etc with nothing at all then its totally finished since nothing can be done. Consider it a loss and learn from it.
I'd like to also state that there are for some reason people who supposedly bring roms over to devices and they don't have the device so therefore don't really know if it works or not. You have to be careful about the guides you follow. I've seen someone try with a device that could not be unlocked ever for anyone and that person thought it would work. Live and learn.

yeah so it seems like the issue isnt with changing the file system or anything because i installed twrp again and tried rebooting and i got the same bootloop issue, but if i flash a rom then ill lose twrp like it happened last time so i dont understand what im supposed to do
you have to format data in twrp otherwise it won't see your storage folder.
once formatted reboot to twrp then reboot to system, it should reboot to stock rom and the set up pages.

yes you did it correctly this time, is there anyway to undo your 'filesystem to ext2 then ext4'?
or maybe you have to flash the custom kernel to get it all up and running again
