[OFFICIAL] MoKee Open Source - LG G5 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Developme

MoKee Open Source is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion…
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!
Read here for developer application: http://www.mfunz.com/en/developer-application, you can host your unofficial MoKee builds on our server!

Wow.. I am going to try this weekend. I am concerned if LG VR will work without problem with this ROM. Also, LG G5 camera has got lots of goodies. Does LG G5 camera works on this ROM.
Thanks.

About VR,not sure, don't own it,but as of camera, it's pretty much the same as on all non stock roms. All 3 cameras work but the quality is a bit low compared to the stock rom.

i just tried to install this with the fluence uhd addon and open gapps pico and google play services kept crashing during setup. perhaps i'll wait for the next nightly and try again.

H830 user here...
This definitely feels like a daily driver to me.
Bluetooth is working - at least with my Anker BT keyboard (dont own bt speakers)
GPS is working and seemed responsive on my way home from work yesterday
Battery seems very solid
I'm using OpenGapps and I've had no app crashes at all.
I haven't tested NFC or WiFi tethering. I can test tethering if anyone is curious.

I really really love the fluence patch, but to be frank i have only ever found is useable on stock or fulmics. Custom roms get really laggy for me. On the h850.
Love your work.

Pushing MoKee!
My upcoming Patch will be tested using MoKee. Means 100% functional with the Patch in the Future...

How's image and audio quality and battery compared to stock?

WoW. I'm really impressed with this ROM. The most fluid I've ever had. And totally stable. To see how the battery behaves ... I stay here ...

MoKee is really well made. Glad to hear You'd like it too
It's My Daily for a while and i love to use it as Base for My Patch. It plays just well together
@4r44444 compared with Stock is the Audio Quality a bit less good. But everything else is really well working. The Camera does take fast, clear Pictures and the overall Speed is really good. Well, i'm using My Patch with it so it might be a bit affected by it, but i would really prefer it over all other AOSP ROMs for our G5 even without it on top.

I really don't know why mokee doesn't get traction.. Even on the note 2 most people don't even try it.
I prefer stock / fulmics because of battery life and camera. I wish Google camera would work for our devices. Don't like the other 3rd party solutions so unfortunately I can't stay with mokee ?

Coming back after a while - which KK builds are you using?

Dear All, I've been using one of the very old ROMs from these forums, 4.3, can't even remember which one but it had the battery enhancements from the team here. It is finally dying, annoying no available space message in google play, google services not connecting to the internet...
I do not want to make this a contest or recommendation request post, I am just lost with all the ROMs I found on this forum. I would probably want to go for KK, I don't need Lollipop or experimental/less stable releases. What are you guys using? One of the toads, or reventechs? Without comparing with others, is the ROM you are using stable and/or more or less bug free?
Thanks to everyone and for all devs for their time and dedication!!!
I've tried some of the LL builds but ultimately rolled back to KK, specifically M11:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=apexqtmo&type=snapshot
Nightlies are available, but I haven't heard about people's success with them (not that it doesn't exist or nightlies are broken) so I just stayed with M11. No problems here.
Thanks a lot. Any preference for m11 compared to omnitoad or raventech's or other roms?
I used the slim ROM by reventech, is the most stable and battery friendly ROM, and all works great

Hey Guiyoforward,
since i love one of our last good sliders and don't want these forums to die out i even made an account to answer you ;P I am one of those people that actually runs nightlies.
Currently i am running h ttp://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/111456/cm-11-20150524-NIGHTLY-apexqtmo.zip
And as far as i could see nothing is broken or unusable. It can be a bit difficult to set up considering the GPS bug that sometimes occurs, but i haven't had majors problems so far.
Personally i like the cyanogenmod style and customizability and thats why i prefer it over other roms. Reventech is said to be more stable as already mentioned, although i can't confirm this. I wouldn't go for LL as of right now, since it doesn't completely work on the Relay. Any cm11 nightly (you can download atm) should be good and the stable releases are also fine if you want to be sure.
Hope this helps. Have fun

My wife's Relay recently died (I suspect the cable between the "screen" half and the "keyboard" half broke, since nothing on the "screen" half responded...audio, buttons, display), and I bought her a new one. On both, she's been running nightly (updated very month or so) CM11 builds + OpenGAPPs Stock. There's a number of annoying issues, but nothing major. Certainly no worse than the snapshots.
The only thing she seems to miss is the ability to control the notification LED. That was in some earlier builds, but got lost at some point. Otherwise, she doesn't really complain about anything being seriously broken - the phone runs for weeks at a time w/o issue. We usually only reboot it if the battery dies, or if I think it's been "too long" since we've updated CM builds.
Running 5/17 KK nightly. ROCK SOLID with 0 faults. Hasn't missed a beat since I installed it 2 months ago.
Is anyone still devving for this device? Commits are still being added from upstream to the regular CM builds but I'm guessing nothing device specific
I'm thinking about getting a new battery though, as my stock battery is tired and barely holds enough charge to get me through the day.
I never find myself too far from a charger so the battery life doesn't bother me as much
I've been running the 6/07 CM11 build on mine, and it's also been solid.
I'm running the 20150517 nightly, which I jumped for in order to get the FREAK fix. As far as I can tell, everything works except the GPS. There is a GPS fix, but it's a bit odd and intrusive to execute, and I've never gotten a round tuit, yet. I downloaded a newer nightly the other day, but haven't gotten to loading it yet, and at this rate may supersede it with a yet newer one.

Haven't tried SuperLuminal's version yet, but the CM12.1 version you find here on XDA is working fine. There are a few bugs, but nothing a reboot can't handle...
Just keep in mind, that both are unofficial builds of CM12.1, as the CM Team haven't made an official version (yet - or perhaps it might never happend)
But give the SuperLuminal's version a shot - and tell us about your experience.

Thanks for response. Is cm12.1 smoother than miui? I find mi4c with miui less responsive than my old oneplus one with cm13. It's quite disappointing that my new mi4c is more laggy than 2years old OPO. Will that unofficial cm12.1 fix it a little? Or just snapdragon 808 is way slower than old 801?

Coming from OnePlus One as well, but with CM 12s, for that little time I spend using stock MIUI, I did not notice any lack or the phone being slower than the OPO. Actually MIUI ran pretty damn fast on the MI 4c - but the reason I moved away from the official, was because Kaspersky found malware on the ****ing phone. So maybe you should check you phone for malware or any unwanted apps. Depending on where you got the phone, it might have been tampered with.
Maybe, you should try to disable/freeze any apps you do not like first and see if that helps.
Anyway, if it's a faulty model you've received, you might want to return it...
Well this cm 12.1 has the nav bar working with capacitive keys disabled while the other one has it still enabled. I'm sure it will be fixed.
Jonas you probably had a reseller modified rom flashed. The EU rom doesn't have any malware.
Hi guys. I use TS rom for a few days. It is very smooth, likewise the Xiobai rom. Everything is working, except...edge double tap. Of course, you can enable it, but then ehile typing on any keyboard (aosp, google), it causes random backs. This feature is super while surfing on internet, but in real life it is too hmm anoying. I don't even touch edges and keyboard hides. When disable- not. It is my only complain. Battery and smoothness are very good. At night with lte enabled takes 1-2%. Best regards from Poland.

Xiaomi Service Framework Mod not work for me
I'm testing SuperLuminal CM 12.1 port from yesterday. It works pretty well so far; edge double tap is OK and didn't cause any unexpected behaviour in my usage.
There is no issue of DT2W not working after booting from recovery (that issue is present on Xiaobai's port, you have to reboot once from the ROM to have DT2W back).
Other than that the two ROMs are pretty much the same to me; Xiaobai's one might feel a little bit smoother in my opinion, but really a tiny bit.
I'm trying to get rid of any stuttering playing with entropy settings in Kernel Adiutor, will report back if I'll find anything useful.

Just wanted to say that I experienced the same thing. I had a Nexus 4 with Minimal OS (Android 6.0) and it was sadly faster than the Mi4C.
I'm not saying that the Mi4C is slow. It is fast. But i was expecting something more. Expecially while typing (as write here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/help/expected-t3274918) i can feel the difference.
The Mi4C also have some micro-lag during transition that take away some joy on the daily use..
I'm probably going to try one of theese CM12.1 and see if i can get the same responsiveness i had with the N4
New rom is out now in Team Superluminal site.

Yes, I know - I tried contacting Coolicool whom I bought it from - but they are just being like what these type of Chinese stores usually are - ignorant towards complains.
I am considering making the switch back to MIUI7 - but I'm not too keen on going back to a KK rom..

It is pretty stable. I'll been using TS PAC-rom 5.1.1 now for few days and I haven't noticed anything. But like our news says, IT IS UNDER TESTING for now. So if you like to try, take a backup of your current rom. And if you don't like it, you can revert back where you was.
There is lots of options/features from great roms. Like the PACman roms slogan goes "ALL IN ONE"
Does it have nav bar option?
Piston Headset problem under CM
I1m using the Mokee 5.1.1 Rom and its really great, I only have one big problem with it: My 3-button Piston2 headset doesn't work properly, only the play/pause button responds as it should, the volume rockers only open the dialer. It worked perfectly under Miui, but I love these custom roms much more!
Is it possible, to find a solution for this problem?! I'd love to try your rom, especially if there's any chance it will work!

Custom ROM (TS CM13.....) VS MIUI 7 Which one should i choose?

Hello,
I am not sure what i should choose... i like a stable ROM and good camera quality but i like also stock android and latest Android version! how is the difference between the camera on CM/MIUI?
now i am running SMIUI (5.1.1 ) with NOVA launcher to get a taste of stock android
Thanks for your replys and help!

yeah, that was going to be my next venture ... I am just waiting for the unlock code from Xiaomi if it will arrive in the next days, otherwise i will go with the guide to do it without the code .
At the moment I stick with smiui(6..) with root, xposed, viper4android...
It is great.
But I'm waiting for an official release of cm, aosp...
CM 13 doesn't run like I'm used to and the lack of custom kernels is pretty bad.
At the moment I don't have a big reason to stick with stock android.
On my s4 I only used GPE of android.
So I'm used to a 100 % customized system.
But for now I have to stick with smiui.
Because it works the best.
(only with xposed )
Camera quality miui>aosp/cm
It crashed a lot and it was a bad experience for me.
CM13 in Mi4c bad? How can you say that?
My experience with CM13 Team Superluminal has been awesome! some keys points for you.
-Batery life is a lot better (Screen time is almost the same but standby time in CM13 is ULTRA OPTIMIZED only 1 percent in all night)
-Camera is good (Not at level of MIUI)
-No crashes since last build (1 week now)
-Google apps working
-Now CM13 TS is stable, you get updates from OTA.
-Now, not coming back to MIUI.

He is probably using CM13 ported by other members. I'm using TS CM13 and it's amazing. I think the camera image quality on TS CM13 is as good as MiUI, even though the UI is not as convenient. No crashing of the camera app.
Maybe the new version is better. i used mc 13 from ts.
i tested it 1 or 2 months ago and i got some bad problems.
i dont say it is bad but for me it was'nt stable enough to switch.
but im still waiting for an official release.
just try it out and see how it works for you
TSL's CM13 is great! You can try also Ketut Kumajaya's almost-AOSP CM13 Nexus-fy
I'm also using TS CM13 and i have to say after the release of source code, stable cm13 and firmware update from Xiaomi i'm having a really good experience with my phone. it runs great, and i also used xiaomi.eu builds and loved it, but i could not get over the little things/overal look and feel (and behavior) of the os. To be fair, i always preferred cm, more than stock, for it's simplicity and customization options.

no problem, to be clear, i'm using 0423 build, flashed fw update from miui stable, but not the gpu blobs as described on their website:
Based on stable/cm-13.0-ZNH2K branch.
Proprietary blobs are from miui stable V7.2.4.0 version. http://www.teamsuperluminal.org/download/ts_libra_miui_v7240_fw_patch-zip)
Imho when using a new rom, give it 2-3 days to settle in in terms of battery performance.

Interest check: LineageOS 13.0 nightlies for Mi 4c

Hi all,
Over the past few months I have been building CyanogenMod (now LineageOS) 13.0 for my personal use. It's based off Kumajaya's sources and was roughly parallel to emfox's builds. I'm doing this because I'm dissatisfied with the stability and reliability of existing ROMs. (I can't claim that mine is any better, however it does put me in a position to debug the issues.)
This is an interest check. I am considering publishing my nightlies for people to download. I know that everyone will give a blanket "yes" to the question "should I publish my nightlies for people to download?". So instead I would like to ask:
Given the other excellent Mi 4c ROMs, including @Hikari no Tenshi's LineageOS 14.1 builds, Resurrection Remix N and Team Superluminal CM13.0, what reason would people have to use Yet Another ROM?
(Long time reader, first time poster!)
This will sound kind of cliche but , the more options , the better . Maybe some of us will find your ROM more suited to their daily use or something .
So yeah definitely share it man

I second this! More roms/more activity keeps this device alive longer too
1. Your development wil keep this device alive longer.
2.(maybe) attract other dev/team to build rom for this device.
3.it will make your rom better,by sharing and let many people using it, will helps you find problem faster and improve it.
so yes!
Always useful to have more I have an Aqua (mi4s) and the rom scene is very poor :/ a few Libra roms do support it but in recent months even the SD card support has gone making for quite a sad outlook for the device. If there were someone building nightlies, it would be ace as from time to time you might be able to dip into the aqua stuff too and we'd all appreciate that
Whatever you decide, it's a nice thing to even consider doing for the community. You have my thanks
honestly i think Marshmallow is waste of time, most of the people are interested only in newest Android and i don't see much interest since we have official nougat ROMs from Mokee, AICP and Resurrection remix
if you want to do something different there is Nougat AOSP ROM missing, blobs from Xiaomi are already available, Nexus 5X as well, so...
more roms, more options. i want my mi4c looks better than Nexus 5X

It really depends on what you would have to offer. The available CM13 (or are we calling them LO13 now?) ROMs are TeamSuperluminal's and Emfox's builds which are really not actively maintained anymore, although they are pretty damn stable. Except of course the few bugs that seem to go unfixed -- the touchscreen bug, which appears to be really complicated to fix without newer Xiaomi's kernel sources, the 2% battery bug which is present in TeamSuperluminal's builds and isn't a gamebreaker, and the way the SoC uses its cores in most of the ROMs based on Kumajaya's kernel sources (always active big cores) which results in lower battery life.
If you solved some of these problems, expect users to flock to your ROM. If not, I wouldn't bother, since you'll just be flooded with requests for fixing stuff that isn't broken in the first place. In fact, expect the second even if you deliver on the first.
I don't maintain any ROMs so I'm not one to give advice, but it seems to me it's a lot of work, and that you're paid with criticism and demands for more of your time. Get in contact with a ROM author and ask them for advice on this
Thanks for the thoughts.
As far as I can figure, there are 3 things people want:
Features/being on the cutting edge
Performance
Stability/reliability
We want all 3 but unfortunately it is a trade-off. In particular it takes special effort to achieve stability when combined with the other 2.
The CM14.1 builds satisfy the people who want to live on the cutting edge. The Xceed ROM is built for speed for those who think that Snapdragon 808 should perform like the top-tier chipset that it is
But out of all the ROMs I've tried (haven't tried the CM14.1 builds yet but have tried most of the others) I've had the following stability problems:
Screen freezes, requiring reboot
Sleeps of death
Random reboots in the middle of the night (waking up at 3 a.m. to find my phone clicking at me on the "decrypt your device" screen)
Stuttering or hangups
OpenGL-based games crashing
And that's not including the well-publicised touchscreen and battery problems.
So my personal strategy is:
Marshmallow build. Sorry for those who want Nougat, but I don't consider it stable enough (yet). Plus, all the proprietary MIUI vendor blobs from Xiaomi are targeted at Android L, and getting them working on Android M is hard enough already...
For the kernel, track CAF closely. Probably take their Android N release on the assumption that it's stable
Use as few proprietary blobs as possible; build from CAF source where available. This is what most developers are doing already
Use the most recent proprietary MIUI vendor blobs from Xiaomi, on the assumption that they've been buillding this version of MIUI on Android L for such a long time that it's stable
Avoid importing proprietary blobs from other devices (Nexus 5X, Moto X Pure etc.) where possible for licensing reasons. I don't intend to try and make this an offical LineageOS build, but this might be important for whoever attempts in future...
All this is difficult and @ketut.kumajaya and friends put in some impressive hacks to get it to work in the first place. I can't promise that I can build on this! But if I ever get to a stage where it's fit for consumption, I'll publish something...
in my opinion this will be great for development on Libra devices, i think Nougat rom with clean source will be great for user like me sir. For now iam using RR Nougat and for me its stable for daily use, if we can make Libra official for Lineage it can open other rom change to get official build too. Best luck for you sir and cant wait for your contribution

is general gsi roms good enough

is general gsi roms good enough for our device or is it better to wait for specific rom that is well modified for our device??? In other words is there any general gsi rom that is good enough and has major hardware parts working (camera, wifi, hotspot, brightness, bluetooth... Etc) ???
Thanks
Has anyone tried Havoc OS ROM ?
Generally speaking they're good enough to use assuming you can get them installed on you phone. I was using Phh's unofficial Ressurection Remix Rom for a while, and the biggest issue I had was the fingerprint sensor acting as a mouse button when the screen was on. Otherwise everything was very smooth and worked like what I expected them too. Battery life might have been a bit worse than it was on MIUI. I've had similar results on all of Phh's ROMs, although I haven't really tried images from too many other developers.
Installing them can be a struggle. It seems like half of the time I try to flash one I need to wipe everything on the phone to get it to work, but other times I can flash them with no issues. That's not specific to GSI images though. I've probably wiped my phone (system and storage contents) half a dozen times because I accidentally soft bricked my phone trying to flash something. That's probably more user error more than anything else.
I have also never been able to get gapps to flash on a GSI ROM. I've always had to use ones with them built in.
I ended up going back to MIUI because the GCam mod wasn't working properly, and a large reason for buying the phone was for the camera. I'll probably go back to Treble images once the major ROMs start releasing Pie variants, assuming we don't get some native ROMs first.
Anyone else get a trebble rom to work yet?

I flashed a lot of them. Most have bugs as you can imagine e but that's not the rom's or devs fault.
I had installed
Official Resurrection ReMix
Phh treble AOSP
Pixel Experience version 8.1 and 9
Polaris Pixel experience
Google extended
All with similar bugs/features. The 8.1 versions work pretty well, the pie versions have all the same bugs. But they are daily driver material in my opinion if you can do without some functions. Some of them have enough no working camera, others have trouble with NFC and bluetooth.
Others have distorted sounds (which can be easily fixed).
Just browse the treble development thread and find out what fits best for you.
I'm using pixel experience official 8.1 and 9 unofficial (on two separate MiMix2S) and so far it works for me.
I think the best by now is the official 8.1 PE rom. Most of the things I'm using do work really well. Now I'm eagerly waiting for the Polaris Pixel Experience Pie rom...hope it will arrive soon.
I think we own a not very popular device so devs are rare but there are some of them doing a great job and working on those issues. Maybe some could donate some bucks like I did to keep them motivated and show some appreciation for their hard work.
I've had the best experience with the Benzo 9.0 ROM.
How is the camera on GSI roms? One of the reasons I updated from the mix 2 to the mix 2s was for the camera.
Is it comparable to MIUI?, or total ****?
I am using the AOSP 9.0 rom by @phhusson: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases
Apart from the camera, I'm not aware of any known issues. Bluetooth, NFC, Sound and Calling issues have all been resolved (thank you very much @phhusson). I guess there are other issues I did not hit yet
The camera app I use is from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...ed-p-mix2s-t3838406/post77529938#post77529938
Its possible to take good pictures (without color issues) but some feature like HDR, portrait don't work.
As a base for this rom, I use the most current global beta from here:

So it's basically a link to a ROM we already know...or is there any device specific features included?
If it's the aosp ROM by phhusson it's stock Android and works smooth but lacks some features IMHO. Nothing fancy but a great leap forward in treble development. Great guy developing good and stable roms.

Install this and be a happy little camper:

Using it as my daily driver now. Almost all bugs sorted out that bothered me with the gsi images.

Why don't you try it for yourself and report how it's working? I'm interested too, maybe this has some features I could use.
