Where can a novice start with new rom for GT-N8000 please - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have the note 10.1 GT-N8000 on android 4.4.2 and i want to upgrade it to a stable Android 6.0 ROM
Can some one please point me to an idiots guide on flashing a new stable ROM on this tablet.
i have read a lot of threads here but they are all dating back to 2013 and i'm not sure if the information on them are still relevant.
cheers

NEW +Stable = no .
Old = yes but 4.4.2 as thats the last Samsung build .
Android 6 no release for Note 10.1
One Android 6 rom posted in Alpha stage at present and very unlikely to be other Nougat based roms . .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-1/development/rom-nougat-t3505239

For Marshmallow, CM13 is your best choice.
If you don't need MM specifically, CM14/LineageOS runs well (Nougat); it's what I'm using.
You have to labour to read the threads' initial discussions and latest discussions at least. If you don't want to spend hours on this, then just stick with what you have, hire someone to do it for your, or buy a new device. Flashing is not for the impatient.

I don't mind reading because it also helps with more knowledge about this, however some of the methods of rooting dates back to 2012 and the threads have about 66 pages and over 500 comments.
If i can see a step-by-step guide, i can do the rooting myself.

Easy way 2017 would be to flash a custom recovery through Odin .
Then find supersu zip and flash that through recovery .
Not all custom roms require rooting it depends upon the instructions .
You want a rom then you choose and read the instructions first .
PS you also require a rom that's actually got a download as many roms are dead on here .

I highly recommend Lirokoa's unofficial LineageOS/Nougat ROM. No real bugs and it runs beautifully.

i had done some reading on the Lirokoa Lineage ROM thread, The ROM it self even still on Alpha stage, Runs beautifully. but some people stated that the Cell standby draining more Battery compare to SOT. well thats just from what i read, i personally havent try it myself. But its the Newest ROM for my N8000, im looking forward for it to reach Stable stage

Why CM can't make a stable ROM in last 6 months.

This Post is in wrong section but i think many people who belongs to CM team visit this section rapidly.
There is some question to CM team who manage P500 ROM.
1- last/First stable release is published about 6 months earlier.
2- Day by day your ROM getting Buggy. means we cant use Phone is there is no network.
3- You release weekly new Rom without solving past bug.
4- think how many ROM you have published but still not got a good stable full featured ROM.
5- why you still struck with same GB ROM why you not trying ICS or JB for P500 officially.
Please consider this post seriously because i love cm ROM. This post is just represent the frustration of Cm lovers.
Hope Next release will works fine...
rash97's CM10 works perfectly from my end. You're probably downloading all the experimental ones.
I do see your perspective but according to their wiki:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Latest_Version
Stable versions are those where all known issues have been addressed and resolved. This version is for everyday use.

Nightly builds are daily compiled builds from source. This version therefore has the latest bleeding edge features & tweaks, but it is also the mostly likely to have bugs and issues. This version is not for general use. Nightly builds are available here.

If you really want a bugfree rom, just stick with the stable release. I don't see a difference between the stable and the nightlies other than the stable release is stable and the nightlies aren't.
That was for your points 1-4. And for 5, let's be reasonable. The P500 is pretty old and shouldn't even be running ICS or JB.

If I am recalling it right then you are that fake Guy who said "I have working camera for ics I will upload it soon" right?
You earn so many thanks for that fake stunt.
Then after some months you came again and ask in every thread "xyz is not working what to do"
And now you post this **** in wrong thread .
Now listen
Our phone is still alive because of Developers.
Did they ask you for money?
Simply No.
Take what are they giving.
If you don't like it then don't complaint.
If you don't know what's going on here then go away or stick to the stock.

you don't have a right to blame anyone, people are helping you by providing you CM and other ROMs, they are not working for you here. And official ICS won't be there because we couldn't have ICS(cm9) with .35 kernel officially
Agree with Aspee....and Mods - this thread needs deletion, more so from the development threads.

How do you even dare to write such a words?
Optimus One was never meant to be any kind of flagship, so is quite natural, that
it's based on deprecated hardware platform. Even though, devs made quite an spectacular amount of work and brought us some truly amazing work. Due to hardware limitations, there won't be any newer stable ROM than CM7. Also, the number of people willing to develop for Optimus One is inevitably shrinking as they move to more modern platforms.
Last, but not least, have you ever donated a single penny to CM team or any freelance O1 dev? They are doing it for free in their spare time!
this user should be banned for dis-couraging the developers, post on wrong section, too many spams earlier, not obeying rules, just some fckn ****. and hes done, we dont need you, nor xda so go to hell

Why dont u just add him to ur ignore list?
The CM code base is stable, no software is ever bug free, this is one of the main reasons that this community exists. To fix bugs and provide newer and mostly better releases. This devices was never designed to run anything higher than GB to begin with, whining because hobbyist developers cannot produce fast enough is rather pathetic. If you don't like it, feel free to pull the source and do it yourself.
The people developing for P500 are among the most talented on xda, this is the reason why a lowly device has such a huge following here. If you look at other, newer/better devices, you will notice that very few have their own forum and their roms are usually only available in the Android Development and hacking section.
The work that our devs have been doing is truly outstanding, we have ports for every conceivable rom out there (cept for thin rom which i personally would love to see) and in a very good working order too. I use CM9 by hephappy as my daily driver and I have to admit, I cannot use the stock rom or any GB based rom simply because of the features provided by ICS.
So please, rather give thanks and provide bug reports, the devs want to build these roms for us, don't make them pull out just because you have no tact
If u want stable cm y don't u develop it for yourself. Stop complaining . If u don't like cm and if its not stable den don't use it as simple as that. Use the stock rom. U r not paying the developers so just keep quite. Don't spam the developers thread. People like u are not meant to be on xda.
Peace.

So you should've trolled the next month.
Better luck next time!

CM has already released a stable rom that is really ready for daily use and a lot better then stock LG rom: it's CM 7.2 with Gingerbread.
Other Android releases are declared not compatible with poor hardware of the lg p500, so others cm roms you see are not officials, derivated from public cm sources and modified.
It's not possible an official cm > 7 (cm9 - cm10) for Lg Optimus One.
If you want a CM9-CM10 rom stable in your smartphone it's not a cm fault, but a LG P500 fault, it's really old, even if is a good phone.
I use Oxygen 3.0.0 with ICS for daily use, i have some reboots but very rare, even if they happen (every 90-100 hours...).
It this is good for you, try Oxygen by Popdog, in case not, change your smartphone, you can not pretend to have latest technologies without spending money!

The reason they don't have a stable ROM is because your not a developer, because if you were it would be stable.

[Q] Galaxy 7.7 (P-6810) & Jelly Bean …

Hi all,
I have a Galaxy 7.7 (P-6810) and was wondering if it is possible to install a working version of Jelly Bean?
I use the device mainly for travelling and really enjoy the battery life and screen quality but am not too happy with the OS when compared to my friend’s tablets with Jelly Bean installed … I have been waiting, in hope that Samsung would release an official update (following the 6800), but it would appear this is never going to happen
This is my only Android device, I am used to IOS, Jailbreaking etc but have no experience of rooting, installing custom ROMs and have no idea where to start.
If someone could give information or provide clear instructions on how to do this safely, so as not to brick the device, it would be much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance.

Here are some links to study that will assist you in performing the tasks.
For basic background this link gives you some concepts and other useful information it is a little old but I think the concepts are valid. [GUIDE | READ ME | DISCONTINUED-28/06/12 ] A Newbie Guide for your Galaxy Tab 7.7 ▓░░ [ 1 2 ]
I think you said you had a P6810 here is a link to root and install CWM. Again this guide may not show the latest versions but gets you started on the process. [ROM&GUIDE] Official Firmwares SGT 7.7 P6800 + P6810 Download Here is another thread that might be helpful: [FAQ] Common Issues and Solutions for SGT7.7, now with JB (12 May 2013+)
For example the latest CWM is 6.0.3.0.
This is a start by following the instructions and cautions you should be ok. As discussed before the dainel_hk ROMs are what I use and I've been very happy with his efforts. Happy flashing. Lots of research (part of the fun in having this device) and paying attention to what you are doing should keep you from bricking your device. Again good luck and have fun. Your other option would be to find someone close to you and get tem to help you through the steps.:fingers-crossed:

There is no best ROM, only the one that YOU like more. You will have to go through the ROM section and look at them and make your choice. What you like is not what i like and so on, for example i am very happy with the stock ROM and don't see why i would change. But some people hate it, so to each his own, as they say.

Marshmallow - puzzled

I'm new to the forum.
Used the search function on marshmallow and android 6 but nothing that made sense came up.
I joined the forum as my wife's TF101 is sluggish. Android 4.03. Kernel 2.6.39.4 [email protected] #1 Build IML74K.US_epad-9.2.1.27-20120615
I came across:-
android-rom.com/upgrade-update-asus-transformer-tf101
I came here to check the 'bone fide' of this as it seems pretty advanced as most posts here are talking about Android 5.x
The site for the split ROM's wants tons of information, full addreess, DOB, email etc. which I don't give out.
So is this for real ?
If it is, is there a site where I can download the ROM without giving out info for surveys and products.
If this thread is deened to be inappropriate, please request to have it deleted and PM me the answer, although, I am sure other 'newbies' will come here looking for the same answer so it might be worth leaving so they can find the answers, official or otherwise.
Thanks for all the info and advice you are all provided. I have had a good, but short, read of quite a few threads.
Don't do it! Definitely fake.
If you are comfortable with the whole process of getting a custom ROM onto your device, go with KatKiss here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/eee-pad-transformer/development/rom-t2942560
The other option is to wait, as timduru, the expert behind KatKiss, is reportedly working on Marshmallow for our old TF101.
Welcome to the forums!
Go with Tim, abandon Data-Leecher

Spare your data and give a f*ck about that site. Go with Timdurus ROMs. The fastest was 4.4.4, I just switched to 6.0.1, from Lollipop 5.1.1 since Marshmallow is faster than the Lollipop version.
You find the latest Marshmallow ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/eee-pad-transformer/development/rom-t3318496. You should go with that one. I tested 'em all, and Timdurus ROMs are far out the best. That simple.
If you need any further help in considering, you might want to consider having a look here: http://meandmykatkiss.blogspot.de/. There will be a performance comparison on later. I haven't come to make the Bench-Screens on Marshmallow yet.
@moderation: I don't know why, but the TO 1st post seems "odd". I might at least remove the link. Anyway, if it is real:

questions about having root access, twrp and Android Pie

Well.. I own a Galaxy j4 model sm-j400m and I have been doing research before going to mod it and root. Some days ago Samsung posted via the Samsung members app that they will release Android Pie for this device on July. So the question is...
What will happen with the recovery? What about root access?
Should I keep the original rom with no root and update to pie and then root?
Also I request a complete guide introducing this device and how to root and get TWRP. Yes I know that there are some other posts about.. but I want one explaining everything noob-proof. I'm still learning about this device. Same with Android Oreo. It's not easy for me to adapt to this new system version since I just switched from lollipop.
Please reply if you can. I just want to research everything and allow this post to be useful for everyone who has the same device.

Unless the security features will be updated in any way, I would think we'd be fine. After all, it's just a new operating environment and should have no affect on custom recoveries and the like. However, a) no one can guarantee anything until it actually comes around, and b) I'm pretty sure that if you upgraded, unless you had any persistence at all, you'd need to re-root.
Your best bet would be to just stick with 8.1 for a while until we get the green-light that everything works on Android Pie.
As for the noob's guide, I'll try my best to write on (the Chicken's way!).

Well... I think the same of sticking for a while with Oreo since I don't even have been using for more than a few days. So I'm still new to it. I still have to learn a lot. I want to understand this system before moving to another and also let's wait til pie becomes more mature. I'm not a fan of upgrading fast. I prefer update when everything works. So let's say that I'll keep on Oreo ... Let me root first hdhdhs...
Later.. like end of the year or maybe the next I would consider upgrading to pie.
About the guide... Well.. it would be handy to have some help.. I think this thread needs and deserves a noob-proof guide for rooting and everything that's has to be known.
Regards from Santiago, Chile.
