Hi all,
I have a Galaxy 7.7 (P-6810) and was wondering if it is possible to install a working version of Jelly Bean?
I use the device mainly for travelling and really enjoy the battery life and screen quality but am not too happy with the OS when compared to my friend’s tablets with Jelly Bean installed … I have been waiting, in hope that Samsung would release an official update (following the 6800), but it would appear this is never going to happen
This is my only Android device, I am used to IOS, Jailbreaking etc but have no experience of rooting, installing custom ROMs and have no idea where to start.
If someone could give information or provide clear instructions on how to do this safely, so as not to brick the device, it would be much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance.

Here are some links to study that will assist you in performing the tasks.
For basic background this link gives you some concepts and other useful information it is a little old but I think the concepts are valid. [GUIDE | READ ME | DISCONTINUED-28/06/12 ] A Newbie Guide for your Galaxy Tab 7.7 ▓░░ [ 1 2 ]
I think you said you had a P6810 here is a link to root and install CWM. Again this guide may not show the latest versions but gets you started on the process. [ROM&GUIDE] Official Firmwares SGT 7.7 P6800 + P6810 Download Here is another thread that might be helpful: [FAQ] Common Issues and Solutions for SGT7.7, now with JB (12 May 2013+)
For example the latest CWM is 6.0.3.0.
This is a start by following the instructions and cautions you should be ok. As discussed before the dainel_hk ROMs are what I use and I've been very happy with his efforts. Happy flashing. Lots of research (part of the fun in having this device) and paying attention to what you are doing should keep you from bricking your device. Again good luck and have fun. Your other option would be to find someone close to you and get tem to help you through the steps.:fingers-crossed:

Hi,
I have had the Incredible S for 2 years now and it's lagging a lot these days, has become quite slow and unresponsive at times too. I have been reading through this forum for options to upgrade my phone to Jelly bean (officially its upgraded to ICS) and have decided to give it a go now.
I am a complete novice at this and don't know much about how to go about it but after several days of online searching, i found the Unofficial CyanogenMod 10.1, on this forum, which seemed to me as the best one with least bugs for upgrading to Jellybean based on the feedback/reviews it received.
I saw that the page includes download links for Radio, Rom, Google Apps and Kernel Source but i have NO idea what they are, what to do after downloading them or how to go about installing them.
Is there any step by step guide that i can follow to install these and upgrade it to Jellybean? I would really be grateful for any advice/guidance that i can get.
With much gratitude,
IJ
All of the info you need will be in the stickies of the Incredible S forums.
Hi, I am fairly new to this forum and did the read the noobie section first, so I hope I am abiding by any rules.
Firstly, I have a Samsung Ace Plus S7500 on EE Network running gingerbread. I am fairly good with computers and have had experience in some basic things so I should be able to hold my own with the lingo.
Basically, I want to root my phone and put Jellybean with 'Softkeyz' as my O/S, however I read that a lot of ROM's are faulty or neglect aspects of the phones features, is there a very basic simple O/S that I can have? Perhaps even staying on GB like I am but just adding superuser abilities.
Please help me someone! I can supply more information if needed.. Thanks in advance!

CM 10.0 is Jellybean 4.1.2 & CM 10.1 is Jellybean 4.2.2
Gapps is a package that contains Play Store and other apps required for Rom. You must flash Gapps after flashing Rom.

Hi, since I cant post on the development board (not enough posts) I´ll ask here.
I have a P6810 with official Android 4.0.4 and wonder if the KitKat roms available (Slim, CM, Omni) are stable and noticeably better than official 4.0.4? If so, which one is more mature/stable/recommended? Thanks a lot

All 3 have some nice features and have come a long way. Suggest you read the posts for each ROM and experiment with each to pick the one you like best. All of them are excellent to use as a daily ROM. If you have the room for backups you can do a backup on each as you set them up and switch as periodic releases are provided by Daniel. The releases (improvements) have been happening about every two weeks and it is amazing how the developer keeps them all current as possible.
Users have worked to keep the community up to date on potential issues and observations and reading the posts should answer many of your questions. :fingers-crossed: Best of luck and i hope you enjoy the ROMs as it seems that the developer does a wonderful job with each of them.
Thanks ColBill

No problem. Daniel released another version of the ROM (Carbon) yesterday or today. I'm trying this new ROM tonight. The writeup looks good and based on Daniel's prior work this ROM will be exceptional as well. Looking forward to playing with it. How you enjoy trying and picking a ROM good luck.:good:
Hi all,
I have the note 10.1 GT-N8000 on android 4.4.2 and i want to upgrade it to a stable Android 6.0 ROM
Can some one please point me to an idiots guide on flashing a new stable ROM on this tablet.
i have read a lot of threads here but they are all dating back to 2013 and i'm not sure if the information on them are still relevant.
cheers
NEW +Stable = no .
Old = yes but 4.4.2 as thats the last Samsung build .
Android 6 no release for Note 10.1
One Android 6 rom posted in Alpha stage at present and very unlikely to be other Nougat based roms . .

For Marshmallow, CM13 is your best choice.
If you don't need MM specifically, CM14/LineageOS runs well (Nougat); it's what I'm using.
You have to labour to read the threads' initial discussions and latest discussions at least. If you don't want to spend hours on this, then just stick with what you have, hire someone to do it for your, or buy a new device. Flashing is not for the impatient.

I don't mind reading because it also helps with more knowledge about this, however some of the methods of rooting dates back to 2012 and the threads have about 66 pages and over 500 comments.
If i can see a step-by-step guide, i can do the rooting myself.
Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Easy way 2017 would be to flash a custom recovery through Odin .
Then find supersu zip and flash that through recovery .
Not all custom roms require rooting it depends upon the instructions .
You want a rom then you choose and read the instructions first .
PS you also require a rom that's actually got a download as many roms are dead on here .
I highly recommend Lirokoa's unofficial LineageOS/Nougat ROM. No real bugs and it runs beautifully.
i had done some reading on the Lirokoa Lineage ROM thread, The ROM it self even still on Alpha stage, Runs beautifully. but some people stated that the Cell standby draining more Battery compare to SOT. well thats just from what i read, i personally havent try it myself. But its the Newest ROM for my N8000, im looking forward for it to reach Stable stage
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this platform and to be honest a bit overwhelmed. Apologize if this thread is in the wrong section.
I should also mention that I'm not too familiar with technical points.
I own an old Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (P5110) which claims its Android version 4.2.2 is still the most recent one for this device.
So I'm looking for a way to update to a newer versuon, at least Android 6.
My first question is which Android version you suggest?
Second one, how exactly do I do this (is there a step by step tutorial)?
Third one what are the risks? I read something about data loss and completely broken devices?
Thank you in advance.

Mate, I'm on the same boat. Same tablet, also overwhelmed The only response to your post points to some custom ROM page but the instructions are not detailed. I thought I had to throw my tablet but it seems like it still has some life to breath if I can get it a newer ROM (many apps are not supported anymore with Android 4.2).
I think the first thing to do is root the device but where to start? I'd prefer using linux with adb, etc.
There is a lot of stuff here. Is there anyone that has taken the time to write a detailed step by step guide somewhere?
BTW, my intention is not only to revive the device but to ditch all Google crap apps. In an ideal world, I would have installed a ROM from /e/ Foundation, but they do not support the device so I guess my next best bet is some custom ROM that uses LineageOS?
Hi,
First you need to root your device and install TWRP recovery:
More info here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...final-root-single-step-twrp-recovery-t3404779
It's an old thread but you'll get the idea.
See this one as well:
https://www.getdroidtips.com/twrp-recovery-samsung-galaxy-tab-2/
You'll need to find the correct version for your model otherwise you'll and up with a nice paperweight.
After this, you'll be able to back up your current ROM and install new ones. Unfortunately, I have a different model of Tab 2 that has no available custom ROM's so I can't say which ROM is better than other. I would read more in the link provided for slim roms.
To get rid of the installed bloatware and even Google apps I used SD Maid. See my thread below with what's left on my tablet (Disclaimer: it's a barebone setup and not all things work so I don't advise going that deep unless you're willing to take the risk of having a bricked tablet. You were warned!):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...recting-samsung-tab-2-10-1-att-i497-t4079993/.
Cheers!
