Odin 3.12 fails update from latest Nougat BTU to ITV: problem with hidden.img - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi there, as from the title, I'm trying to flash the latest Italian (ITV) Nougat ROM with the following files (downloaded from SamMobile):
- AP_G930FXXU1DQB3_CL10422490_QB12410562_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5
- BL_G930FXXU1DQB3_CL10422490_QB12410562_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
- CP_G930FXXU1DQB1_CL10422490_QB12282417_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
- HOME_CSC_ITV_G930FITV1DQA8_CL10349826_QB12193290_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
I'd like to use the home_csc just to keep all my data during the flashing (it should be fine when going from Nougat to Nougat...)
The "previous" installed rom whas the final BTU one G930FXXU1DQB3_G930FOXA1DQB1_BTU (same Changelist 10422490 as the ITV that I want to flash)
Odin gives me an error at the last check: hidden.img FAIL
From what I've learnt, it seems that the size of the hidden.img file from ITV is bigger than the BTU one and can't be loaded in the partition of the phone (its original firmware when brand new was OMN, and now I get the same error when trying to flash the Nougat OMN rom)
After the above error, I can always restore the phone by flashing the BTU Nougat rom, but I wonder if there is a way to "come back" to one Italian ITV or OMN rom...
One solution could be to use the HOME_CSC from BTU instead of the "bigger one" in ITV or OMN (but I will not receive OTA future updates?)
The FINAL solution I think can be to use the Emergency recovery function in Smart Switch PC software, but this will erase all my data (I'm trying to avoid it, and leaving this as the last solution, together with using CSC instead of HOME_CSC in Odin)

Have a read here, if the CSC is not included as part of your own Multi CSC, you may need to use the PIT file & Repartition option
www. sam mobile .com/forum/showthread.php?t=30800

follow this guide: Open the firmware file in winrar and extract the hidden.img. Rename it as hidden.img.tar.
Load the new file into the PDA tab, and flash.
When the phone boots, the displayed image will be touchwiz teal, there will be a little android and GALAXY spelt

Solved by flashing the latest ITV firmware (aka Italy no brand) with Odin, using CSC and not HOME_CSC, then restoring all my data and settings.
Before flashing ITV I also tried OMN (aka Vodafone Italia) with full wipe using CSC but the phone then "woke up" speaking German and not Italian, weird... I then chose to go with ITV

Had issue with my note 3
But fixed finally
1/step: dowloand single csc firmware, example 3 ireland has single csc perfect for this issue.
2/step: install 3 ireland firmware via odin.
3/step: after finishing full wipe resetting the device
Complete full setup and finish everything
4/step: than download btu firmware and instal via odin
Wait for finish then when you see first samsung logo on the screen pull out the battery wait for 5to10 second then put batery back and start with recovery mode and fully reset the device
Then boot device normally, you'll have btu csc on the device

I never pull and put the batery. Is for what that????????????
I've got a non rooted N9005, originally ITV csc. I flashed NB3 Poland and now NB7 BTU. If I do a *#1234# I've got CSC: N9005OXAENB1.
If I go to stock recovery it says "Successfully applied ITV CSC".
If I want to get the original ITV CSC do I need to do something else?

I used a free tool from the play store to check mine, called Samsung Phone Info. This will tell you what CSC you have applied.

"Successfully applied ITV CSC" mean You have by default ITV from Your Rom before on file /efs/imei/mps_code dat. Is from here the csc is applied by Stock Recovery where it need.
On this file /mps_code.dat is installed the CSC by default from all Clean install Roms (full wiped before).
Then, You installed the NB7 BTU Rom, but this Rom have also the ITV. This CSC is installed well because Your default ITV on /mps_code.dat.
To see this file only whit root but You can read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2670084
Your Rom are well, not worry.

Good. Sorry. I understand.

Will I need to flash BL (BootLoader) when flashing a Pit file using Odin ?

Hi XDA,
I did a lot of research on how to change the CSC code on my brand new Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F).
I have a couple of questions before I flash the stock firmware from Sammobile.com.
Why I want to change the CSC code:
The phone is bought in Denmark, and comes with Customer Specific Customization (CSC) from Germany (code: DBT).
I prefer to use the Nordic Countries (NEE) CSC code, since I want those customizations, and optimized drivers for the nordic operators frequencies
First of all, I need to flash the pit file (from what I've heard) because I'm unsure whether the NEE firmware is multi-csc (if it is, it will just go back to DBT as the CSC code after flashing the firmware).
So the files needed so far would be the AP (for the firmware itself), CP (previously called Phone, for the modem drivers etc) and the CSC (software tweaks for nordic countries).
But I've heard that flashing a pit file will wipe all data, does that include the bootloader somehow? And would I have to flash that too? Or is it not necessary?
And I suppose the "original" CSC code is stored in the pit file since I need to flash that too?
Additionally, is the pit file included in the CSC file?
Bonus question: What's the difference between CSC and HOME_CSC?
Hope you can help clear these things up
Actually there is no need to flash any pit files. Just use following files: BL, CP, AP and HOME_CSC. !!!But before you flash you should activate secure startup and set a pin/password!!! After flashing you will be asked for the pin/password and you can deactivate secure startup if you don`t want to use it anymore.

Question using AP,BL,CSC instead of Home

Hi I usually download from sammobile where they have one file and I select ap it does everything itself. However I have downloaded from updato website it has given loads of small files like ap, bl, csc.. Do I use all them for the upgrade on odin or can I just up the ap?
the files are like the following: BL_G935FXXU1DQB3_CL10422490_QB12410567_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
my version on my current phone is g935fxxu1bplb
Thanks

Do NOT select the regular CSC file that starts with CSC in its name, as that would replace your CSC and thus would result in a factory data reset of the device.
Click on CSC tab and select the firmware file starting with HOME_CSC in its name

You need to flash all of them (bt/ap/cp). Regarding the csc: if your csc is equal (or included in case of multi-csc roms) to the one of the rom you are going to flash (meaning: you have installed a BTU rom and you are going to flash a rom with the BTU csc) then use the home_csc as it will update the csc to its latest version without making a factory reset. If your csc doesn't match with the one of the new rom then you either use the home_csc of your actual rom or use the CSC file (bot the home) of the new one (this will factory reset your phone so backup first)

S7 G930F stuck on odin "Get PIT for Mapping"

My G930F has Poland (XEO) Stock firmware with no root at all.
I am trying to install via odin Brazil (ZTO) Stock firmware using 3.11, 3.12, 1.85 but stuck on Get PIT for mapping and stops itself.
I am afraid to do something because I have just this phone like softbrick.
Does anyone knows how can I solve this, please?
I heard that I must put in odin bl, ap cp from XEO but the home csc ZTO.
You should be putting all 4 ZTO firmware files in, there's no reason for needing to use a mix of files. The 930F is the same world wide, you're not limited to using firmware from the origin country and it's probably what's causing you problems.
Also if you're flashing AP, you may as well flash the normal CSC and not home CSC. You only really use home CSC if you don't want to data wipe, but you're going to data wipe from AP anyway.
Flash this firmware (newest ZTO) http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=578B0E548EF711E7963AFA163EE8F90B with all options BL,AP,CP,CSC with Odin v3.12.3 or newer. Be sure in CSC section flash CSC file not HOME_CSC
At the first I did what you said here but with home csc. I will do again with all 4 and csc instead home csc. Thank u very much.
I am downloading to try. Thank u very much.
I downloaded the file and I did what u said but nothing happened.
what is the difference between flash CSC file or and flash HOME_CSC ?
Csc you will reset the one is already in your phone. Home csc will keep your csc and data, I think.
CSC resets the phone after flashing, HOME_CSC does not

Flash Oreo on Samsung S7 with odin - how to change CSC from XEO to BTU?

Hello,
last days I flashed the new Oreo firmware for my SM-G930F, available now only for UK (BTU CSC code). I used the last odin version 3.13.1. When the firmware was flashed, after factory recet I received my old CSC code (XEO). I wrote in forums, that if I want to changthe default CSC I have to set in odin settings Repartition. So yesterday evening I decided to reflash the firmware, but now with ticked Repartiotion. When I cklicked on Start, afer one two seconds red Fail windows has been shown. Why I can't flash the firmware with set Repartition? Does somebody have an idea what went wrong?
Reasons why I want to change the CSC code by default from XEO to BTU is that BTU receives the updates at the earliest!

BTU contains XEU as it is Multi-CSC, you cannot switch between them directly
You need to flash a different region CSC not included in BTU first, then flash BTU

Which for example? Can I use one of the following: VOD or VDI? Both of them have available Oreo firmwares. Oherwise I have to downgrade to Nougat (by the way, how can I downgrade using odin?)

One with the same bootloader version as you are running, probably version 2
You can tell by this number in the firmware version
G930FXXU2ERD5
Have a look in download mode for B:2 or whatever number it says and match to the firmware
Downgrade the same way you upgrade, but use ODIN 3.12.7 for Nougat
Do not flash the VOD (vodafone) Oreo, it is bricking devices, very broken, only flash BTU Oreo

What about flashing the same firmware with odin 3.13.1, but with ticked repartition in the option? This, regarding the comments in sammobile forum works. But for me doesn't. Maybe for Oreo it doesn't work or there is something specifically to do?
I can't catch your proposal for flashing the other firmware. Can you tell me which exactly firmware I have to flash first, later on to receive BTU Oreo CSC as default?
