Help finding USA firmware (inexperienced) - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

I want unroot my J7 2015 that came already booted that i bought months ago, i've been wanting to update for a while since im stuck on 5.1
Tried looking for the correct firmware to flash on Odin but i just find foreign firmware and im seriously considering unrooting through Kies.
My model is SM-J700F

Hi.
Hi. Install this app and see if you have multiple (compatible) CSC
I.e. country codes
Samsung Phone Info on playstore
Then you an check here
Www.updato.com
Sent from my SM-A720F using Tapatalk

Original country code: XSG
Firmwares CSG code: TGY
Active CSC code: XSG / TGY

XSG is UAE United Arab Emirates. Download from Www.updato.com, it's speedy

As long as its XGS i will be able to flash it succesfully right?

Yes.

I can't find my exact USB drivers on the samsung website, is there any specific i should look for?

Go to www.sammobile.com click on firmware.
Sent from my SM-A720F using Tapatalk

I said USB drivers, not phone firmware.

Sorry, my memory served me wrong. At sammobile you get Odin (not usb drivers) as well as the firmware.
I don't remember where I got mine ?. Maybe my windows 7 just got them from the net???
I believe SmartSwitch can get you the drivers. Otherwise Google is your friend.
But if Odin can recognize your fon in download mode you're good to go

As long as its called N8000 its the same device where ever it come from. but if its called N8000T for example then its not the same. I flashed firmwares from China, India, Philipines, Germany, Sweden and so on. I even flashed thoose carrier firmwares and as long as its a N8000 firmware its ok.
good luck

Kies doesn´t find the KitKat Update [GT-N8000]

I heard that the Note 10.1 2012 got finally the KitKat Update but Kies say that my firmware is allready the newest.
Are you sure Germany got the KitKat update? What about the device, does it find the update under About Device > Software Update? If not, you'll have to wait for Samsung to release the update in your country. And if your device is rooted or modded it won't update by itself, you'll have to do it manually.

yes is it.
What about sending it to Samsung for the update? They'd probably do it for you. If you can be without your tablet for a few days that's an alternative. Or you could manually flash somehow the frimware through Odin.

G920i 6.0.1 Update

Hi guys.
I have an 128gb S6 SM-G920i on 5.1.1 Australia Vodafone, baseband G920IDVU3DOL4 and I would like to get a 6.0.1 FW from Sammy (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G920I/).
I am using the phone in Ireland so I could not find an Irish or UK 6.0.1 FW to put on it. Loads of other 6.0.1 like Brazil, Chile, India, etc but I'm not sure what effect that will have if I install those.
Any suggestions on how I can get 6.0.1 on my S6 or do I need to wait for Samsung?
I have my s6 from Brazil that came to me with ZTO 5.11 . First I flashed inu 5.1.1 after that I got Ota for inu 6.0.1 and I did the update with no issues at all.
Now I flashed TTT because inu was a bit laggy. Not happy with battery at TTT tomorrow will flash ARO.
So I think you're safe to flash the firmware you want. But check first if is the correct model firmware

So as long as it is a 6.0.1 FW of the G920i model it should be ok regardless of country?

Awesome, my concern was that if I flash let's say the Brazil FW it won't have English menus. Is that a possibility?

The language depends on which one you choose after installing. Some firmwares have all languages and some have a few.
But all them have English. After flashing firmware , the phone boot and you have to set the language, accounts, fingerprints etc
Then everything on menus will show the language you've chosen

You can make a backup of all you want with an application call smart switch you should install it on the pc.
Then make a factory reset. Flash the firmware and if you can make a factory reset again
The restore everything with smart switch

Am I the only one not having nougat?

I am late to join galaxy s7, just recently got one on eBay. UK Vodafone locked. I had it unlocked couple of days ago. Expecting it to receive nougat ota. But nothing has happened yet. When will I get that? I want to try out nougat then decide whether to root.
Removing the network lock won't have any affect on which firmware your phone has, only that you can now use it on any network & so as is you would be waiting for Vodafone to release a VOD version of Nougat.
AFAIK There is only a BTU/Samsung generic version of Nougat available in the UK on the S7 right now so if you wanted it sooner you could flash to BTU.

Thanks, Do I still need to root to flash the generic rom?
The update is available in India now! I have updated my S7 to Nougat VIA OTa

Does flashing to a different rom, albeit a factory one, void warranty, trip knox or stop OTA updates? I recently bought a Galaxy S7 with Vodafone Spain (ATL) firmware (i don't live in Spain btw, I bought it from a store) and I'd like to flash the unlocked UK rom (BTU), so I can get Nougat, but i don't want to void my warranty.

Did they buy their phone from Carphone Warehouse? Only if so they're probably on XEU rather than BTU.

Yes, that is XEU. I read about the XEU firmware on a forum somewhere, he hasn't gotten the update yet. BTU is the unlocked UK firmware and the Nougat update for that is out.

Indeed that's XEU (as the previous poster said)
XEU & BTU seem to both be the same but they have different CSCs which would explain why you're not getting the update as it's not out for XEU yet.

Flashing a stock ROM eg from SamMobile won't trip Knox. Only customs ROMs & rooting do that. OTA updates should work fine if the right flashing procedure is followed.

Thanks a lot, I was getting frustrated because I don't want my firmware to have anything to do with any carrier. Do you happen to know if there is a chance that Samsung's service can see that the BTU CSC is not the phone's original CSC and decline a warranty claim?

When are we going to get it?! I'm from the UK with an unlocked S7 flat, bought from Carphone. And of course it's with XEU.

You could run into problems there if you needed to send the phone in for repair if the firmware is checked by the retailer or whoever they send their phones off for repair to. Personally would just flash it back to the original CSC before sending it off. Both CSCs would need to be on the same Android version though as from what I remember reading flashing an Android downgrade can brick your phone. I did read elsewhere someone managed to flash back to Marshmallow from Nougat as VoLTE wasn't working in Nougat as it turned out both were using the same boat loader but that's the only case like that I recall.
From experience Samsung's Smartswitch software doesn't look your phone up to establish which firmware it should have. It just goes on the current CSC if you were eg. to do an emergency firmware initialisation.

Samsung 8 - android 7 - How to find my rom?

I spent quite some time in trying to find a way to upgrade from android 7 to 8 on a samsung 8. No luck.
The model is SM-G950U
Region XAA
PDA G950USQS1AQI6
CSD G950UOYN1AQI6
Phone baseband G950USQU2BQK5
On my phone, "phone info" doesn't find any new firmware. The android "software update" has been reporting for months now that the latest version is already installed On my computer, SAMfirm neither (be it manual or auto search).
I checked several tools, website, to the point I got discouraged. Anyone to help understand the issue?

Unique info I found is that
“XAA” = “USA unbranded (default)”
I have no idea what is compatible with that, though.
