Am I the only one not having nougat? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I am late to join galaxy s7, just recently got one on eBay. UK Vodafone locked. I had it unlocked couple of days ago. Expecting it to receive nougat ota. But nothing has happened yet. When will I get that? I want to try out nougat then decide whether to root.

Removing the network lock won't have any affect on which firmware your phone has, only that you can now use it on any network & so as is you would be waiting for Vodafone to release a VOD version of Nougat.
AFAIK There is only a BTU/Samsung generic version of Nougat available in the UK on the S7 right now so if you wanted it sooner you could flash to BTU.

Thanks, Do I still need to root to flash the generic rom?

The update is available in India now! I have updated my S7 to Nougat VIA OTa

No, just need to flash the appropriate files with ODIN.

Just confirmed with someone from work that his unlocked (when bought) phone also hasn't got nougat ota update. Just wondering anyone here from uk who actually got the update?

Does flashing to a different rom, albeit a factory one, void warranty, trip knox or stop OTA updates? I recently bought a Galaxy S7 with Vodafone Spain (ATL) firmware (i don't live in Spain btw, I bought it from a store) and I'd like to flash the unlocked UK rom (BTU), so I can get Nougat, but i don't want to void my warranty.

Did they buy their phone from Carphone Warehouse? Only if so they're probably on XEU rather than BTU.

Im here waiting too. Unlocked UK and was on Beta updates. Feel like I've been forgot. Question is, can i flash the new BTU files without a wipe?

Yes, that is XEU. I read about the XEU firmware on a forum somewhere, he hasn't gotten the update yet. BTU is the unlocked UK firmware and the Nougat update for that is out.

Indeed that's XEU (as the previous poster said)
XEU & BTU seem to both be the same but they have different CSCs which would explain why you're not getting the update as it's not out for XEU yet.

Flashing a stock ROM eg from SamMobile won't trip Knox. Only customs ROMs & rooting do that. OTA updates should work fine if the right flashing procedure is followed.

Thanks a lot, I was getting frustrated because I don't want my firmware to have anything to do with any carrier. Do you happen to know if there is a chance that Samsung's service can see that the BTU CSC is not the phone's original CSC and decline a warranty claim?

When are we going to get it?! I'm from the UK with an unlocked S7 flat, bought from Carphone. And of course it's with XEU.

You could run into problems there if you needed to send the phone in for repair if the firmware is checked by the retailer or whoever they send their phones off for repair to. Personally would just flash it back to the original CSC before sending it off. Both CSCs would need to be on the same Android version though as from what I remember reading flashing an Android downgrade can brick your phone. I did read elsewhere someone managed to flash back to Marshmallow from Nougat as VoLTE wasn't working in Nougat as it turned out both were using the same boat loader but that's the only case like that I recall.
From experience Samsung's Smartswitch software doesn't look your phone up to establish which firmware it should have. It just goes on the current CSC if you were eg. to do an emergency firmware initialisation.

Oh, I see. If I flash back to my original CSC before handing it over, albeit both on the same version, is there a chance they might not notice? Thanks a lot btw.

Flash the firmware from on SamMobile it's probably better than upgrading via OTA as well.

update. i have successfully flash the nougat using the sammobile rom (btu). i followed this video step and step and it's very successful, it even keeps all the apps and data, just like an ota update would do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFV9WkZ9FfY&t=57s

[Q] GT-N8010 Latest Update

Does anyone know where I can get the latest GT-N8010 update for the UK or similar?
I'm rooted with CWM6. I assume I'll have to un-root my device and then inject the ROM with Odin, too?
Try sammobile. They have the latest official firmwares which you can flash with odin.

I tried that, the most up to date ones are Germany and Taiwan. Their UK one is actually a shop stock, ironically enough.

Am planning on flashing ALI 3 tomorrow. If you look at the German one I think it has a UK CSC. Sam mobile is what I am looking at.

Yeah, I actually noticed that! I injected the ROM last night. Turns out that the S-Note is gubbed for PDF's. I had such good luck with it before, as well.

I've got the n8010 in the uk. I've never flashed another rom or rooted yet and there is not update available for my device via ota or kies, so im guessing there is no update officially yet.

The updates official. It was downloaded from sammobile. It's just that Samsung always tend to take a lot of time before actually releasing updates. They're special like that.
Try this, works fine N8010-XXALI3-XAALI3-DBT-deodexed

if you have APH1 you can now flash API3 to have unlocked g935u

So i had taken the update for my verizon g935v which updated to APH1 which disabled you from going to the 935u... well 935u received a new update. API3 is now installed on my phone. Heres the screenshot. check it out!

No, if you don't want to root, you can have stock u firmware without root, but you're not going to have WiFi calling or volte without root, at least you had to have root before haven't checked on the new firmware.

As far as I know VerzonĀ“s s7 edge comes factory sim unlocked or do I have to flash this firm to hav it sim unlocked?

SM-G930U Now Flashes to SM-G930T

With the latest update of PI3 on the SM-G930U the bootloader is now on version 4. Found out trying too flash a version 2 bootloader from Verizon firmware.
What this means? Users on the SM-G930T that wanted a bloat free smooth firmware can enjoy just that now by downloading and flashing the latest PI3 firmware on sammobile or samfirm tool.
Damn ! That's some good news after so long !

Can you root this firmware?
Edit: Root is possible.
Be careful if you want to go from 930T to 930U and then back to 930T...I had to use Smart Switch because I was getting an error when flashing AP with ODIN...

Just a note, you'll lose FM radio support. I was really hoping they would include it in the update, but no love sadly. I have the U and am considering flashing the T for it. Comes in handy at the gym for watching tv, but then I'll have bloat. Decisions decisions.
Can I flash the tmobile modem over this and get the 4x4 mimo support? Or does that also include some code in the firmware?

No issues on my end. I flashed T then back to U without any hassle. Probably is your odin or faulty usb cable or port.

A somewhat silly question but does flashing the U firmware automatically unlock the SIM? Or is it still SIM locked?

No, flashing the U firmware does not Sim Unlock the device. You must first unlock then flash if you want to switch carriers. Otherwise just flash and use your same provider SIM.

Any downsides to flashing Nougat?

I have recently bought an O2 branded S7. O2 have unlocked it for me and I am now using it on the Three network.
It seems fairly straightforward to upgrade to Nougat using Odin 3. I would like to use the stock BTU firmware.
Are there any downsides to this? Will the phone receive OTA updates in future including security patche
Any advice much appreciated before I proceed with fingers crossed!
Just wait , Samsung released another Beta because they had problems with the official update

J600F/DS

i saw on sammobile that pie is out for my phone but for ukraine my device is from the UAE would it differ if i flashed it through odin ? or should i wait for OTA
Suggestion for Update of J600F
I updated my J600F using firmware on Sammobile site, it was great but had a battery bug, so I reverted back to 8.0, but another update is released now and I hope a couple of bugs should have been fixed by now, so there is no issue in trying, and it's official too.

If your device is an international device, it might work. If it doesn't, just flash back to what you had before.
