[Q] GT-N8010 Latest Update - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know where I can get the latest GT-N8010 update for the UK or similar?
I'm rooted with CWM6. I assume I'll have to un-root my device and then inject the ROM with Odin, too?

Try sammobile. They have the latest official firmwares which you can flash with odin.

I tried that, the most up to date ones are Germany and Taiwan. Their UK one is actually a shop stock, ironically enough.

any info about update for Czech republic?

Am planning on flashing ALI 3 tomorrow. If you look at the German one I think it has a UK CSC. Sam mobile is what I am looking at.

Yeah, I actually noticed that! I injected the ROM last night. Turns out that the S-Note is gubbed for PDF's. I had such good luck with it before, as well.

Have just upgraded to ALI3 with mobile odin. Very easy.
Not sure which part of snote is not working for you? Have done a pdf export and all seems ok to me.

I've got the n8010 in the uk. I've never flashed another rom or rooted yet and there is not update available for my device via ota or kies, so im guessing there is no update officially yet.

The updates official. It was downloaded from sammobile. It's just that Samsung always tend to take a lot of time before actually releasing updates. They're special like that.

Try this, works fine N8010-XXALI3-XAALI3-DBT-deodexed

Mmmhhh... Anybody has N8000XXALGB (the base version)? I have N8000XXALGA, and that's the only one available at samfirmware, too...
Still on XXALGA, no OTA, NO KIES update. Where the heck comes this info from ?

Info is from samfirmware, you can download the ota there. However, you need xxalgb as base to instal it, which I haven't seen anywhere yet...

Ok just went on samfirmware, didn't see the german version you mentioned, but saw a Spain version N8000XWALI2 70 MB, that needs N8000XWALG9.
Might try it out later see, if theres any goodies, but I'm doubting there is. :/
As far as I can tell, India is the only one getting the JB leak. I hear they curried favor with Samsung.

You might have a look at the ota first, see what files are touched. Though, guessing from its size, there's quite a bit of changes... But I don't expect much visible changes, probably mostly under the hood...

Oh! Wasn't aware it's already you reporting back, sorry, and thanks for sharing!
Checked the file integrity? Maybe the download messed it up.
Are you on unmodified stock? No system files deleted or changed?
You might have a look at the updater script, maybe there's a hint on what error 7 is trying to tell us.
Other than these, I don't really know where to look...

Just tried it, and it failed with some system files not matching (code 7). Didn't investigate further, probably flashing the prerequisite ROM would let it pass (might have a mix here).
Taking another path now, though, given that there's a bunch of OTAs today. Going for the Philippines, starting with XWALH1, OTA to XWALI2, then OTA to XXBLI2 (4.1.1!).
Thus, topic XXALI2 closed for me...

You might save yourself the trouble... The update to XXBLI2 fails for the same reason. If I got it right, it's due to different CSCs, which in some stage causes system files to be changed in a way the OTA doesn't expect... the annoying part is, that it's files that nobody cares for, but alas, unless you want to dig them all out and adjust the ota correspondingly or change your CSC, it's a no go.
Thus, back to what I had.

Yeah, it seems we both feel for it again. Doubt I can be bothered to look through it though. Think I'll just be more patient now until someone says they've managed to get something to work.
I just downloaded the LI2 OTA update from sammobile for my LH2 (DBT) (got the LH2 via Kies update). Using Odin Mobile Pro, I flashed that OTA update without problems, LI2 (DBT) is up and running fine so far. But stick to the instructions and flashing is always on your own risk.

Thanks for pointing this out to us! These ota's are new today, yesterday there was only the one starting from XXALGB, which I hadn't a clue where to get. I'll try the one corresponding to my actual rom (XXALGA) - should also work for you, KingRamo - but wanted to ask something before:
When I tried the Philippean way, I saw that SNotes turns screen brighness to FULL whenever you start editing a note. This is fatal, as I normally don't write my notes in bright sunlight... Does this also happen on the German LI2 update?

I think snote has a separate brightness setting. when you start snote it will revert to the brightness last used when running snote.

With new firmware, beweent change log number and build date, which one is more acxurate to indicate that is a newer firmware? Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Not sure why everyone talks about build date.
The changelog is going to be your one guarantee that a firmware is in anyway different or identical to the one you already have
Quite often build dates might be different because of scheduling of the coding etc

Thanks for this. As a new comer to the Android world and having just got my S4, I note this is the firmware on my phone (online import to Australia). However, could you confirm for me:
this is a link to the Stock ROM should I need to return the original OS,
that despite this, I can still follow published methods for rooting my phone (eg "Root the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using Motochopper tool",
there is no problem with me moving to a British based Custom ROM such as described here "Update Galaxy S4 I9505 to official XXUAMDM Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware", and finally
Does the region software is designed for (eg Hong Kong vs Europe) have an impact on the phone's functionality and hardware abilities?
Many thanks

Yep
Really don't understand why they keep uploading them on hotfile, when there are far better alternatives.. or why not they could even make a torrent for the most desired builds.
Anyway.. thanks!
Now just have to wait 2 hours for this to dw despite having a 100mbps connection.

Kies doesn´t find the KitKat Update [GT-N8000]

I heard that the Note 10.1 2012 got finally the KitKat Update but Kies say that my firmware is allready the newest.
Are you sure Germany got the KitKat update? What about the device, does it find the update under About Device > Software Update? If not, you'll have to wait for Samsung to release the update in your country. And if your device is rooted or modded it won't update by itself, you'll have to do it manually.

What about sending it to Samsung for the update? They'd probably do it for you. If you can be without your tablet for a few days that's an alternative. Or you could manually flash somehow the frimware through Odin.

Am I the only one not having nougat?

I am late to join galaxy s7, just recently got one on eBay. UK Vodafone locked. I had it unlocked couple of days ago. Expecting it to receive nougat ota. But nothing has happened yet. When will I get that? I want to try out nougat then decide whether to root.
Removing the network lock won't have any affect on which firmware your phone has, only that you can now use it on any network & so as is you would be waiting for Vodafone to release a VOD version of Nougat.
AFAIK There is only a BTU/Samsung generic version of Nougat available in the UK on the S7 right now so if you wanted it sooner you could flash to BTU.

Does flashing to a different rom, albeit a factory one, void warranty, trip knox or stop OTA updates? Flashing a stock ROM eg from SamMobile won't trip Knox. Only customs ROMs & rooting do that. OTA updates should work fine if the right flashing procedure is followed.

Thanks a lot, I was getting frustrated because I don't want my firmware to have anything to do with any carrier. Do you happen to know if there is a chance that Samsung's service can see that the BTU CSC is not the phone's original CSC and decline a warranty claim?

You could run into problems there if you needed to send the phone in for repair if the firmware is checked by the retailer or whoever they send their phones off for repair to. Personally would just flash it back to the original CSC before sending it off. Both CSCs would need to be on the same Android version though as from what I remember reading flashing an Android downgrade can brick your phone. I did read elsewhere someone managed to flash back to Marshmallow from Nougat as VoLTE wasn't working in Nougat as it turned out both were using the same boat loader but that's the only case like that I recall.
From experience Samsung's Smartswitch software doesn't look your phone up to establish which firmware it should have. It just goes on the current CSC if you were eg. to do an emergency firmware initialisation.

1906.5-0 is the one I have, no OTA updates available but too afraid to try newer versions available on the website.
Any other US version on this?
Shouldn't this be a normal WW version firmware wise?
Thanks
I'm on August security patch. That's most recently. Just updated after next day when I got the phone.

Ok, I'm sorry for the useless thread, for some reason it did not received any OTA but went ahead and did it manually and now is on the latest, I was just scared due to the motherboard issues.

Ohh that update. They pulled it of the shelves while U.S customer waiting for shipment of this phone.
How you liking it?

I'm genuinely loving it, the only "cons" I've found so far are the weight, the provided case being too slippery.
And the most stupid and funny was testing Cerberus when it takes a pic of you when you introduce a bad pin/pattern too much.
The cam raising and hiding by itself is very stealthy, lol.
