So recently updated to 7.0 nougat version and did not like so i tried to flash a stock firmware which then soft bricked my phone , i got an error saying , error has occured use smart switch something like that, anywayz i was incapable of accessing the recovery mode ( i have stock recovery atm) but i could access the download mode , so luckly i had screen shot of my build number and baseband number using that i was able to find a stock firmware but the first time i tried i got an error caused by sboot.bin so then i saw some videos and apparently asked me to remove it from the stock firmware file and i did and i tried again AND NOW i get cm.bin error..... so now i remove that too after reading in a forum , so i tried again and this it worked ..... but D: ...... now it stuck on boot loop but i have now access to my stock recovery mode and atm downloading another stock firmware to try but this time i did wipe cache and factory reset but before i proceed i need advice on what to do now because i think theres a way to fix it now that i have access to the recovery mode maybe i need to add some custom recovery or something idk i need help. So far its been a hell of journey and im hoping it has a happy ending

I am having some serious troubles with upgrading my Galaxy Note 4 SM-910P (Sprint). All was well in rooting, un-rooting, etc... I have the original 4.4.4 and the new 5.0 backed up and now I can't use anything other than the firmware the original firmware package through Odin. The problem started when I installed the [ROM]ViSiON-X N4 SPR 5.0.1 [Android L 5.0][N910PVPU1BOB7-R1][03-11-15]. It installed fine but when ever I was not watching it a problem occurred such as getting locked out of ny ext SD, or just plain un-rooting itself. It finally came down to it just kicked my device into download mode and would not reboot. I did used chains Odin root method and installed TWRP, which I can still do but can not flash or restore from TWRP or CWM recovery. It will take the firmware package fine and download the 5.0 update but always gets stopped from any other upgrade at recovery be it stock or custom. I have even used Kies to try and upgrade a few time. It will upgrade from NK1 to NK2 but still will not upgrade anything else past recovery. Every time I reboot I lose my WIFI password. After every boot it takes a minute for any network to be able to reach the device. It is paused until I re enter my WiFi password then it will say that Android is done upgrading and there is a toast message that says "device is set to factory mode some items won't work on this mode set device to user mode". Can someone please tell me how to set my device to user mode or erase what ever is lockled in my device between download and recovery. The issue I described with the device wanting to stay in download mode and how to handle it is described her http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59372208&postcount=3 but as I mentioned I can't get passed anything that is not firmware through Odin. If I had to be locked in one version forever I would have preferred it be 5.0
I figured it out

I fianlly figured out the deal with TWRP not flashing.
The change between file systems is what TWRP won't flash.
To flash into the new, the old, or back up property check the file type.
Ext 2, Ext 4, F2FS, etc ...
To get recovery to load install from odin with auto boot disabled, remove battery, than vol + - menu and power.
the steps below..
1. Power off (complete) boot to download.
2. Load Odin, uncheck auto reboot, PDA TWRP. after it installs pull battery to exit.
3. Boot to recovery - wipe- advanced wipe -Repairor Change File System - Check System (go thruough each)
4. Repair and change each to the file type you want to flash
5. repair and or change the files for the zip you are going to flash
6. you have done all the rest before ....
Issue resolved, thread closed, thanks.
Hi Well I had this big problem and I was close to solving it until i messed things up, I tried to not ask for help here but it's been a week and I can't find anything ): My g925p is just useless right now. I hope you can help me
Short version
Using Twrp I picked the efs.img to flash it and I didn't see it had two options ( Boot, recovery ) It's on boot by default so I guess the file flashed as boot and now everytime i turn the phone on it goes directly to download screen ( for odin ) ... I think if someone can make a backup of their boot.img file and upload it somewhere i could flash it and then everything would be back to normal ? At least boot into the rom .-. Thanks for your time !
By the way, When I try to transfer files via sideload twrp tells me i need a higher version for that device, And I have the latest version .-. Thank you guys
Long version
It all started when I tried to flash twrp with flashify, I guess i flashed a wrong version and my phone got stuck on a bootloop, I fixed it by installing the latest version of twrp and factory reset, But then it got into a bootloop in the initial setup, So I decided to Flash a light rom and it worked ! but it wouldn't connect to data, Before I had this problem I backed up esf.img and I thought it would restore connection, But then ... ( Continue in short version B) )
Thanks you so much for reading guys !
Download and install the firmware via odin that should fix your problem

Thanks for the answer tho.

iv tried re installing cm auto root... still boot loops
installed twp custom recovery... made a img file b4 all this happend (boot loop was caused by trying to install a rom) try and restore the img file it says it was passes but still boot loops... i have tried wiping everything int the phone through twp wipe (everything but the ex sdcard) then restore and with/with out md5 checking.... still boot loops...

I tried something like that with another program called smart switch and when I looked at the back of the phone for the (S/N there isn't one just the dex and the hex... so I called boost mobile to ask them to look up the S/N for me... they gave it to me and I put in what they told me it was and it said that it wasn't a valid S/N so I called them back relayed the S/N they told me and they said I had it correct.... so I don't know what to do...
Find the firmware for your phone online, download file (should have .md5 at end of file) then flash file with odin on windows.

I have the same phone and carrier. Find and download the following 3 files once you have completed a wipe and factory reset with twrp. 1. Odin 3.12.3 2. Youe stock firmware: j700pvpu1apb7_j700pspt1apb7_j700rvpu1apb7_Home tar.md5---2.90gb. 3. cf-auto-root
j71techn-j71tezm-smj7008.zip found here I believe. 4. twrp 3.0.2-d-j71tespr.img.tar. You must be careful when you install twrp. You must go directly into recovery to prevent a boot loop! Do not use anything that you used to make a backup to restore your phone. Just start all over again!!!
Hello! Today I wanted to install the dual speaker mod for s8 +. I installed the zip via twrp and it told me that the mod was succesfully installed. After I restarted the phone, I got a bootloop.i entered twrp to give it a factory reset and gave me a direct failure, and after i thought to give it a format data.I restarted the phone, and after i got a bootloop again and after about 5 minutes it will give itself a restart and i still get a bootloop. Normally after i use format data in twrp i usually wait around 2-3 minutes until my phone opens and goes into the setup to initiate my phone.I tried the stock rom for s8+ flashing in odin and it fails again.I've tried everything I know and I've searched on google and I have not found anything. One thing I get in download mode after I get fail in odin is: SW REV.CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 2, BINARY: 1.
Generally if odin is failing to flash the rom it is the wrong firmware you're trying to flash.
If you were running 8 and try installing 7 it will fail due to the bootloader being updated and it's impossible to downgrade after that.
Another reason is incorrect firmware for you phone.
I hope someone reads this as I'm lost for ideas. First time trying to root a device, I'm using an s8+ and somehow managed to mess up installing twrp using Odin.
Now when I try to re flash twrp it comes up with error, 'only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed'. Also I think I managed to erase the recovery program that comes with the phone as when I try to boot in recovery it now comes up with error message 'No command'.
I have reinstalled the stock firmware using Odin but that hasn't fixed anything.
Anyone got any ideas or insite into this problem. Any advice would be very appreciated as I'm so keen to discover rooting!!

Seeing No command is normal, with an icon of a dead android lol, thats stock recovery, blue screen, i got that all time, but after waiting about 30 seconds and pressing the buttons, i got the mnue to pop up to reset cache, reboot phone, wipe data etc.
As for TWRP, are you flashing the correct one, dream2lte??, download the latest one, the dream2lte.img .tar file, from the TWRP official website - - https://dl.twrp.me/dream2lte/twrp-3.3.1-0-dream2lte.img.tar.html.
I had this issue trying to flash TWRP with standard odin, i had to use a modded version of odin to flash it, even prince cosmy version didnt work for me.
I have attatched the ODIN i use, its a 7zip file.
Thank you, after trying a few more things the twrp file you gave me worked. I now have a fully rooted s8!!!! Your a legend.
