I am having some serious troubles with upgrading my Galaxy Note 4 SM-910P (Sprint). All was well in rooting, un-rooting, etc... I have the original 4.4.4 and the new 5.0 backed up and now I can't use anything other than the firmware the original firmware package through Odin. The problem started when I installed the [ROM]ViSiON-X N4 SPR 5.0.1 [Android L 5.0][N910PVPU1BOB7-R1][03-11-15]. It installed fine but when ever I was not watching it a problem occurred such as getting locked out of ny ext SD, or just plain un-rooting itself. It finally came down to it just kicked my device into download mode and would not reboot. I did used chains Odin root method and installed TWRP, which I can still do but can not flash or restore from TWRP or CWM recovery. It will take the firmware package fine and download the 5.0 update but always gets stopped from any other upgrade at recovery be it stock or custom. I have even used Kies to try and upgrade a few time. It will upgrade from NK1 to NK2 but still will not upgrade anything else past recovery. Every time I reboot I lose my WIFI password. After every boot it takes a minute for any network to be able to reach the device. It is paused until I re enter my WiFi password then it will say that Android is done upgrading and there is a toast message that says "device is set to factory mode some items won't work on this mode set device to user mode". Can someone please tell me how to set my device to user mode or erase what ever is lockled in my device between download and recovery. The issue I described with the device wanting to stay in download mode and how to handle it is described her http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59372208&postcount=3 but as I mentioned I can't get passed anything that is not firmware through Odin. If I had to be locked in one version forever I would have preferred it be 5.0
I figured it out

I fianlly figured out the deal with TWRP not flashing.
The change between file systems is what TWRP won't flash.
To flash into the new, the old, or back up property check the file type.
Ext 2, Ext 4, F2FS, etc ...
To get recovery to load install from odin with auto boot disabled, remove battery, than vol + - menu and power.
the steps below..
1. Power off (complete) boot to download.
2. Load Odin, uncheck auto reboot, PDA TWRP. after it installs pull battery to exit.
3. Boot to recovery - wipe- advanced wipe -Repairor Change File System - Check System (go thruough each)
4. Repair and change each to the file type you want to flash
5. repair and or change the files for the zip you are going to flash
6. you have done all the rest before ....
Issue resolved, thread closed, thanks.

So I just rooted my S6 for the first time, and I'm not very experienced in rooting. I used ODIN to download, and did as told in the website here at galaxys6root.highonandroid .com/galaxy-s6-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s6s6-edge-on-android-6-0-1-marshmallow/ This meant my phone has a TWRP custom recovery but a custom one made by ManhIT, and I was successful in rooting, just that each time in recovery I do a system reboot, it hangs there so I do a force reboot which leads back to the lock screen just alright.
Then I wanted to download Xposed Framework, so I followed this tutorial to download it on Marshmellow 6.0.1: android.wonderhowto .com/how-to/install-xposed-framework-android-6-0-marshmallow-devices-0166278/
youtube .com/watch?v=B3qbY2CWz5M
I did everything, downloaded Xposed Framework for ARM64 Marshmallow devices but had to find the latest version, v85 for it and this is where the problem started. I went to TWRP recovery mode, and went to flash the xposed framwork zip, and clicked system reboot (of course it hanged, so force reboot), and since then it always has been stuck on the Samsung logo screen. I went back to recovery mode, did a factory reset, wipe all data, format data, and it still gets stuck on the logo screen.
Please please please please help!!!!
UPDATE: A possibility of this problem is due to having "No OS Installed".
what I would do if I were you is:
1. Smart switch emergency initialization to restore phone to factory fw with sn of the phone (upper right corner in SS menu) (connect phone only when you are asked, otherwise it will say your device is not supported)
2. flash CF autoroot for that model https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
3 flash TWRP downloaded from https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys6.html for that phone model
and see what would happen (offcourse I would check after each step if the phone can boot)

I fixed it already! I think what it was in the end was the lack of OS. Should've backed up my data before doing anything funny. Installed my OS again and bam my phone is up and running again :good: (had to delete the URL from this reply as I'm just a junior member)
As the title already states my Galaxy S6 ( SM-G920F, 6.0.1, rooted) only boots in TWRP and I can't get out of that recovery boot loop. I already tried flashing the stock ROM but I get the SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE 4 BINARY 3 fail. Are there any ways to fix this, possibly without losing all my personal data(if not I'd like to know how anyways)?
I can access the download menu and I also tried wiping the Dalvik/ART Cache.
I tried this stock ROM: G920FXXU4DPIL, Switzerland(AUT)
Thanks for taking your time
EDIT: I haven't tried ADB since I'm not sure how to use it correctly and I don't want to screw up even further.
Hi mate that error means that the stock firmware you are triyng to install is a lower version than the one on the device, go online and find the most recent version, as for the data just boot to twrp make a backup of data partition, connect the phone to pc twrp as mtp turn on by default and copy the backup to pc, after the flash just reinstall twrp and restore.
Hello! Today I wanted to install the dual speaker mod for s8 +. I installed the zip via twrp and it told me that the mod was succesfully installed. After I restarted the phone, I got a bootloop.i entered twrp to give it a factory reset and gave me a direct failure, and after i thought to give it a format data.I restarted the phone, and after i got a bootloop again and after about 5 minutes it will give itself a restart and i still get a bootloop. Normally after i use format data in twrp i usually wait around 2-3 minutes until my phone opens and goes into the setup to initiate my phone.I tried the stock rom for s8+ flashing in odin and it fails again.I've tried everything I know and I've searched on google and I have not found anything. One thing I get in download mode after I get fail in odin is: SW REV.CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 2, BINARY: 1.
Generally if odin is failing to flash the rom it is the wrong firmware you're trying to flash.
If you were running 8 and try installing 7 it will fail due to the bootloader being updated and it's impossible to downgrade after that.
Another reason is incorrect firmware for you phone.
My device has been bricked after attempting to root the device using Odin. (Samsung Galaxy S8+)
The device is stuck in a bootloop with the following accompanying error message in red on the boot screen:
"Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
Here is what happened:
I flashed TWRP using Prince Comsy Odin. (The only Odin that actually works on the s8+)
I then booted into the TWRP recovery.
I followed a set of instructions, clearing the Cash and wiping
I restarted once then booted back into TWRP using Vol-Up + Power + Bixby
I was preparing to install Magisk & "no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1" according to instructions to complete the root.
After installing "no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1" with TWRP, the system rebooted and i was stuck in a boot loop.
I then got the error message in the bootloop "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
Since then i have not been able to successfully re-flash TWRP.
I now cant enter TWRP recovery boot using Vol-Up + Power + Bixby anymore
The bootloop is about 2 seconds long and too short to enter TWRP recovery
I can enter download mode and thats all
I have gotten the EXACT official stock ROM for the galaxy s8+ in South Africa with the carrier, Vodacom. (XFV-G955FXXU4CRL4-20181228165540)
If i flash with any official Odin version, it either fails or doesnt do anything for hours...
If i flash any Official stock Rom using Prince Comsy Odin then i do get the whole process of flashing with stock firmware being successful with the result saying "PASS".
The phone then reboots and i am still stuck in the same loop saying "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
This is after countless times and hours and hours of reflashing successfully with Official stock rom
I still cant get back into TWRP to do any partitioning or formatting or anything
I really don't mind if i lose all of my data and format the phone but PLEASE can you help me get my phone to work again..."?
Do i need to wait 7 days for the official flash to work?
Is there a way to completely wipe my phone without requiring going into Recovery mode with TWRP? Since i cant get into that state anymore either because of the Error Knox block or because of the Loop being too fast.
Please, please, PLEASE....please help me get my phone to work again...
Sincerely,
I know that Odin 3.13.1 works on the s8+ G955F as I flashed the latest BTU stock yesterday so try that version. I had a similar problem with the G950F and after flashing the files I booted into recovery mode and did a data and cache wipe and the phone rebooted. Flashing a stock rom should have wiped TWRP from the phone.
Reflash your rom or a later one, don't forget to take the tick out of the auto reboot box in Odin, boot to recovery and wipe everything and hopefully you will be good to go. Rebooting on mine took around 35 mins or so when going back to stock.

My problem is fix
Trying to get TWRP installed on an old S6 (with no SIM card), on the way to getting a newer Android on it.
Device is freshly factory reset, I do not believe that it has ever been rooted.
Per
, I have been using Odin to load twrp-3.3.1-0-zerofltespr.img.tar. Odin indicates success, but after that, if I try to get into recovery mode to use TWRP (volup+home+power), I get a blue "Installing system update" screen, then a "No Command" screen. It then drops into the stock Samsung recovery screen (zerofltespr7.0/NRD90M/G920PVPS4DRC2) instead of TWRP.
Did I miss a step? I saw something about the stock boot writing over TWRP, but the sequence of operations to avoid it did not make sense to me.
Found the missing step in
Needed to uncheck Autoreboot, then VOLUP+VOLDOWN+MENU+POWER.
