So I got the Android N update for my Xperia Z5 a few days ago and when looking through the settings I noticed Google assistant so I enabled it, set it all up, was using it and now when I press and hold the home button, Google now just comes up and there is nothing about Google assistant in the settings anymore. Anyone else had this problem or know how to solve it. Nothing was updated or installed or anything it's literally just gone.... :-/
Thanks

Hi My Tab has exact ally the same software it came with except the launcher has changed to nova launcher, there is a problem when I go in to google play it loads then I tap the search button Then BOOM, (UNFORTUNATELY GOOGLE PLAY STORE HAS STOPPED.) I have cleared the catch and data uninstalled updates forced stopped, still the same will I have to do a factory reset?
Also I have not seen this happen but Sometimes you come back to the tablet press the power button nothing happens then you have to hold it down for 20sec so It must freeze when it is Idle Please Help or find the source of the problem thanks (Also If you want me to follow instructions, bare in mind I'm on a mac thanks!)
Do a factory reset and see if it fixes it. It sounds like something may be wrong when you installed an app somewhere. How did you get nova launcher on there? Sideload?
As for the freezing, is it when you charge it or simply when you leave it and come back to it later? Might be a sleep of death problem. Happened to my transformer a bunch.
Anyone know why the back button always stops working in the play store app when it has just applied a google keyboard update? I can only get out of the play store with the home button every single time there is a google keyboard update. I know this is utterly unimportant, but it makes me crazy .
I've been battling this since Android 5.0
Ok Google worked well for the first year it was out. At some point Google updated the app and all hell broke loose. Right now I have a Google Pixel with stock 8.0. I wiped my custom ROM because the issue came back and I really want to solve this. I have set up very little at this time. A few apps and signed into Google. Fresh setup for less than a week now.
What used to happen or the problem? Saying ok Google there would be an audible tone. Then when it stopped making that tone, I searched all over the place for a solution. Switch access. That worked but when that app was updated it broke again. With switch access on, volume buttons do not work. Every time I start up the phone or come back to it after a few hours, the setup wizard opens. And occasionally it will just pop up TalkBack has crashed. Another side effect of Switch Access is the YouTube video ui won't fade away. You have to tap the "X" ; and sometimes there is no "X" there at all.
It's a cycle. No audio que? Turn on switch access. With Switch access on, volume buttons do not work. TalkBack crashes occasionally. Setup wizard opens.
I'm so unspeakably frustrated this has been an issue for so long. What the hell do I do!? I have ran into this issue since Google updated their app years ago, not longer after I got an HTC One M7. Since then I have had this issue on that phone, a Samsung Note 5, Moto G, Nexus and Pixel.
Over the last views days I've started to notice that when I unlock my pixel 2 the location icon appears in the notification tray when I start a app like XDA or Facebook the icon disappears and when I press the home button to go back to my home screen it comes back straight away. Has anyone else noticed this problem?
I've noticed the same since yesterday. Location icon shows up every minute or so. I ended up disabling advanced location.
I've disabled location completely. I'm guessing it's a Google app that is causing it but not sure which, the only ones I've updated recently are YouTube, health services, play music, Google and keep.
Edit
Looks like a issue with the Google app. I uninstalled it and the went back to normal, when I updated it the problem came back.
I had the same issue, turns out it was the Google beta app for me. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the stable version
Hello everyone,
After the recent Google Play Store update I have issues with multiple buttons being unresponsive to taps (nothing happens when you pressing them).
Already have tried every suggestion provided in the links below:
https://support.google.com/googlepl...store-or-apps-won’t-load-these-steps-can-help
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7512202
Issue examples:
1. If I go into About section in Settings and tap on Play Store version, I get a pop-up stating that my Play Store is up to day with "Understood" button. If I try to press it, nothing happens, so I need to press "Back" button in order to pop-up to go away.
2. "See all reviews" button being unresponsive either. If you pressing it, nothing happens, all reviews are not being displayed.
3. What is the most important is that "Install" button stopped working either. When I press it, nothing happens, download does not start. Although weirdly enough I still can update already installed apps through Play Store.
As I have mentioned above, I have tried all suggested options below:
- I have removed and added my Google accounts back, then restarted and tried again - did not worked
- I have tried to delete the data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Services, Download Manager, then restarted and tried again - did not worked
- I have enough space on my phone and I am sitting within a meter from my WiFi router, so all these are not an issue.
- I have uninstalled all the updates for Google Play Store - it helps and button issue disappears so I can use Play Store normally for awhile, but only until the moment when Google Play Store forcefully updates itself and buttons issue come back again. Hence uninstall updates is only temporary solution to my problem. Would be nice to have permanent one.
I am on non-modified, non-rooted, stock Oreo 8.0, Xperia XZ1 Compact phone.
Did you report this issue to Google or the phone manufacturer Sony?

I did, they provided me the links in my original post and told me that if it does not help, then perform a factory reset... It is a little bit too big price to pay for fixing a single issue with one app and risking loosing important data on the way + struggling and loosing time with reinstalling all the apps that I have and setting them up.
As for the Sony support, no, I have not contacted them, but I hardly doubt outcome will be any better than Google support. They will probably tell me to do a Factory reset right away, or ask me to upgrade to Pie, which I do not want to, I am perfectly fine on Oreo.
