Can't install TWRP - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I recently want to root my Honor 8 FRD-L09 on N 7.0.
So i unlock the bootloader, and flash the recovery.
But i never could do it, I always got an error with fastboot
C:\Users\Hugo\Desktop\adb>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (65536 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.386s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)

I don't know what to do.

are you sure you dont have FRP lock activated?
well thats why it wont flash. BL unlocked means nothing if you're FRP locked. you have 2 choices. try removing all security options and accounts / factory reset and hope FRP lock is removed, or use dload method to reflash stock rom. you wont be able to flash twrp otherwise, well, unless u use some of those "pay to remove FRP lock" tools

FRP lock and system security triggers in bootloader itself cause that some partition/blocks are unaccessible even when there is a "full" unlocked bootloader, but full unlocked bootloader option is not as it should be.
Security options while flashing some partition and the system flashing boot loops security option enables this well known security feature.

Try relocking your bootloader with fastboot oem lock, then reboot into bootloader again. If the lock state doesn't stick goes back to being unlocked after the reboot then it might be bad eMMC and you'll have to RMA your device. If it does stay locked afterwards, try using LG Flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...orial-how-to-flash-factory-images-lg-t2713833

If you bought it from the Play Store from Google they don't care if you unlocked the bootloader or have a custom ROM or whatever. As long as it's a real manufacturing defect. If you bought it elsewhere you'll have to go straight to LG and they'll probably charge you or maybe even refuse.
What was the result of trying to relock the bootloader?

Google does not care about root or custom rom.
Can you please reboot to fastboot and post the "VARIANT" line here. Thanks.
@Lethargy you have asked why there are two type of memory brand. I think this is how google managed to rise the production of nexus 5 to avoid that all nexus 5s are being sold on the first day and there will be no more until next month like what happend with nexus 4.

Yups, still unlocked bootloader and currently on twrp recovery, but will need stock recovery if any operations like upgrade or factory reset needs to be done.

Hard Bricked FRD-L14 "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)

So for the past week, my phone has been bricked. Bricked by flashing the wrong firmware, so now not able to access the whole phone, and making matters worse by flashing the wrong recovery for the phone. The phone being an Honor 8, FRD-L14, 64GB.
I'm not able to use dload to rollback anything, or use that option at all, since the recovery isn't eRecovery, and doesn't even have any recovery in itself.
The problem is that I'm able to boot into "download mode" my phones unlocked, and when I type in "fastboot oem get-bootinfo", the response is:
(bootloader) unlocked
OKAY [ 0.008s]
finished. total time: 0.010s
But when trying to flash anything through fastboot in the cmd, like the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" to flash a recovery on the phone, the response would then be:
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (29378 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.803s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.814s
My phone is unlocked, and on the download mode screen, is shows:
PHONE Unlocked
FRP Unlock
My drivers are installed, as well as the device being shown in fastboot when typing in the command "fastboot devices"
I haven't been able to do a single thing to the phone, and have searched up a countless amount of hours to find the fix for the phone, if anyone can, please look into the problem and assist me, thanks .

You're in a tough situation my friend, what do you get when you try the dload method? In my opinion this is the only thing you can do. However i heard about a thing called "DC Unlocker" . It can flash a clean ROM and other good stuff for bricked Huawei phones, but you have to pay, and i don't know what the prices are. Hope you'll make it

AGS2 TWRP choices and HuRUpdater

Hi,
So @Pretoriano80 's twrp_mate9_0.1.img is booting on AGS2 ! But with no internal data decryption.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?do=showpost&p=76362629
m::
Any better twrp I could try ?
twrp_bkl_0.6 & 0.7 got both stuck on twrp's bootscreen with AGS2.
By the way, AGS2 device are Kirin659 and EMUI8.0 .
EDIT: HuRUpdater is working fine with twrp_mate9_0.1.img on AGS2 !

Hi @oslo83
Last Monday I bought a Huawei Mediapad T5. I like the tablet but can't find anywhere, information/tutorials about unlock the bootloader and root the tablet. Did you manage to root your tablet? If so can you help me to root mine?
Thanks in advance.
To root it you ll need to unlock bootloader.
To do that you ll need a code Huawei is not giving anymore.
Since January 15th, 3rd party seller sold it 2 times lasting each for 2 or 3 days.

As far as i understand, wireless service providers most provide devices already unlocked (at least in Canada). So if my mediapad t5 is already unlocked, how do i root it without bricking it?
Bootloader seem to be freely unlockable NOW
Hi everyone.
I have a Huawei mediapad T5 AGS2-L09. It has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory.
I updated the software and a new option in the developers optons emerged:
"OEM Unlocking" - Allow the bootloader to be unlocked
When I turn it on a dialog box pops up with a warning:
"WARNING: Device protection features will not work on this device if this setting is enabled."
You have the option to CANCEL or ENABLE.
This is it, right?
Does anyone know how to root it from here and hopefully has a custom ROM?
The build number: AGS2-L09 8.0.0.222(OCEC432)
Android security patch: September 5, 2019
Once OEM-FRP unlock is enabled, you could then unlock your device with its bootloader's unlock code when in bootloader/fastboot mode.
But, as you don't have your code to unlock your bootloader, the only option is to remove back cover and use a 3rd party paying service called 'BLK' method on your device. (Look for huawei exploits group on telegram...)
So far, to properly root : you'll need bootloader unlocked, which needs bootloader's code typed in to unlock, which need OEM-FRP switch to be enabled.
My bootloader is unlocked. I used this method.

Did you try the one for the P20 Lite?
It's Kirin 659 like the T5.

Tried it.. didn't work.. it says:
C:\adb>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (13524 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.441s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: partition length get error)
finished. total time: 0.464s
So I guess we need a custom recovery. TWRP used to have a TWRP request page, but its not supported anymore. does anyone know how to make a request?

NXT-L29 TWRP installed without error but isn't accessible

Hi. I unlocked bootloader and flashed twrp via fastboot, but when I try to boot into it, the phone gets stuck at "your phone is booting now". The stock recovery no longer works. The phone's never been updated, still on Android 6.0 and EMUI 4.0. I tried several twrp versions with the same effect. What am I doing wrong? Can dm-verity be somehow interfering with twrp? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-next.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (22020 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.701s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.129s]
finished. total time: 0.830s
Months later I tried the same, also NXT-L29
Endless:
"Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted....."
Your device is booting now...
Any solution please?
