It works but you have to know what you're doing with it. Did you contact Tmobile for unlock code. We unlock and blacklist repair the Sprint, Tmobile, etc. The Tmobile ones have to go through that app during the process

yea man i called...they sent an email with instructions.. email stated this phone doesn't require an unlock code as it has a built in unlock app. follow the directions below blah blah balh
bottom line, it doesn't work. why? because there's hidden rules and crap that need to be met 1st by t-mobile. prepaid people need to spend at least 100 dollars in refills before the phone is eligible. post paid people need to have the phone active on t-mobile for a minimum of 45 days and your account cannot be cancelled during that time.
well seeing as how i'm on prepaid... i walked in, made a new customer purchase as a post paid user, then cancelled my line after i got my gear vr and netflix code... which wasn't even 30 days. I can't unlock my phone, So I'm now on prepaid gonna see if I can after 100 dollars in refills
Try to use UnlockRadar for any phone using Device Unlock App from T-Mobile, including the Galaxy S7. You can find more here: https://www.unlockradar.com/service/t-mobile-usa-device-unlock-app-official-unlock

I use ebay to get my unlock codes, unlocked maybe a dozen phones in the last few years and never had any issues with anyone.
A couple reliable sites I've used many times are www.unlockbase.com and www.cellunlocker.net . There's also a thread over on the s6 general forum of a member named stifilz that can unlock your device via USB cable, his service is free but a donation is always a nice gesture. Good luck!

kinda ridiculous you have to pay to get an unlock code still. My SM-G930FD i bought unlocked locks itself every time in install a T-mobile csc and the app wont even run on that phone
Hi can anyone help? I bought an At&t S7 Edge on amazon and got the unlock code from the vendor and it apparently worked. My only issue is that it'll only work with the sim that was in the phone when I entered the code. If I use another one the phone keeps displaying "insert sim". Thanks already for your replies
Thanks for the reply and there's 1 more things I need to mention: I'm using the phone overseas (Haiti) as it's still under At&t contract. Now to answer your questions no it doesn't ask for the unlock code anymore but like I said it only works with the non At&t
sim I used when entering the unlock code.

s7 (sm-930f) lock to Austrian A1 was not able to be unlocked by unlockbase.com. However, the nck from cellunlocker.net worked well.
Ok so what im mentioning is something im still not getting quite well, but i saw before many samsung phones S6, S7, Note... etc that have the international firmware 9XXF/FD even when the phone is actually a T-Mobile version or AT&T, in download mode you will be shown the real phone model but the firmware isn't. Of course through Odin with a PC you won't be able to flash the phone with a firmware besides the one designed for it. If you actually wanna flash the phone you'll need the original firmware, i tried it before and flashed a Verizon S6 that had the international 6.0 firmware on it through Odin and as you might guess i got an error as the device didn't match the firmware, when i actually flashed it with the correct Verizon 7.0 firmware it worked and the phone booted and worked alright, except that now the phone is network locked! downgrade isn't possible unless i use a repair firmware and a pit file (not sure if still works with nougat). Then i got the idea of actually using the repair firmware and the pit of the 9XXF version as its network free, and ended up breaking the phone completely. The jig didn't work so couldn't access odin. So i work for a friend of mine in a repair workshop PC, Consoles, Mobiles... blablabla and we have the Z3x box, it did unbrick the phone, and then i started playing with it to see what it can do, and there is an option to actually flash and mix different parts of the firmware, so i went an flashed the bootloader of the Verizon firmware with the rest from the international firmware, it didn't boot at first but somehow i got it into recovery mode and after a format it did boot, and the network was actually unlocked after.
I do not think this method would work on all versions, as some samsung phones uses the snapdragon soc while others uses the exynos soc, and i don't think you can mix those firmwares, but an unlocked exynos model might be unlockable with the international firmware, of course considering the risk of breaking the phone, but if you're lucky as i was and have one of those boxes you shouldn't be much afraid.
Something else i'd like to mention, is that the Z3x can actually fully backup the phone, and i don't mean a nandroid backup like TWRP but like a full partitions backup, and the idea i got but didn't test is if you have for example a locked S7 and an unlocked one and same model so let's say 930P, you can actually copy the raw partitions from the unlocked one to the locked one and i don't know, maybe ending up unlocking it too, again didn't test this one as i only have one S7 and its already unlocked (930FD).
Hi guys:
I bought a Galaxy S8 64GB from somebody. I exchanged my Galaxy S7 Edge and $100 dollars for it. I have AT&T and of course the phone is not unlocked and does not read mi sim card. I have tried reaching to the guy even calling from another phone and when I told him he just hung up.
I paid a unlock service but it says it will take about 3 to 7 days. I now have a Galaxy S5 Active im using until. What can I do? any help?
Thanks,
Wait the 3-7 days for the unlock service....Since you have th S5 active that will hold you down in the mean time.

Not much unfortunately if the SIM is locked to Sprint. Maybe someone else can shed some light on what happens when you flash another U.S. carriers ROM on a phone sold by a different carrier. Meaning if you Odin flashed an AT&T ROM on your Sprint phone would the radio take on the characteristics of AT&T? I'm thinking that the IMEI will forever be identified to Sprint since it was sold as theirs no matter what you do s/w wise.
I'm guessing the guy you bought it from bought it on an installment plan. That or he received it via UPS/FedEx and reported it not delivered. Or worse, picked it up off someone who was supposed to have received its front porch. If there are unpaid installments Sprint won't unlock it. If it was claimed not delivered or stolen its IMEI is blacklisted which means it won't work on AT&T (or pretty much any carrier) no matter what you do.
You can check if the IMEI is blacklisted here. Although since we're talking 72 hours it might not be listed yet even if it was reported lost/stolen.

So, he gets a new Galaxy S8, since his phone was "lost/stolen" by paying for the deductible, he gets to sell YOUR Galaxy S7 Edge for some money, AND he has $100 cash to throw towards that deductible. I'm guessing the deductible will be $150 or $200 for the S8. So, how much can he sell your S7 Edge for? $400 or so?
https://protection.sprint.com/tep/en/faq.html
SPRINT TOTAL PROTECTION
Q: Is there a deductible charge or additional fee?
There is a $50, $100, $150 or $200 non-refundable deductible per approved insurance replacement (depending upon your device). Payment of the deductible is required upon approval of the claim.

Yes they all support different bands. Some share a few bands but most work best on that specific carrier themselves.
Flashing firmware does nothing to lock status. It has to be unlocked by operator or by code from 3rd party. You cant do anything now just wait for unlock code.

Why would you ever buy off of Craig's List when you can buy off of swappa? Stupid.
That guy is likely going to stop paying on that device and then it will be blacklisted and worthless. You made an expensive mistake. Next time, buy off of swappa.
I have a Sprint S7 (SM-G930P) that's never been activated and would like to unlock it and change the firmware so that I can use it on Verizon. Is this possible?
Specifically, would it be an issue since the phone has never been activated? It has a clean IMEI and after calling Sprint, they have no records of the phone in their database.
I would think if its not on their system then the lock isn't yet active, isn't the IMEI how carriers control device network access? What happens if you put in the Verizon SIM, even on Sprint firmware if the device isn't locked it'll run without your carriers firmware.
That's what I thought. I'll put a Verizon SIM in it later and see what happens. In theory, I should be able to flash Verizon's firmware to the phone as is without any problem, right?

Okay. When I put a Verizon SIM in it, it says Invalid Card. What is the fastest way to unlock a phone? Is there a free way for me to do it myself or am I stuck shelling out $50 for a site to send me a code?

If the phone is paid for (the contract completed or bought out) then all you have to do is call the original carrier and they can unlock it. If it's not paid for than you have to probably pay
The phone is paid for. I bought it outright last Christmas. I was going to give it to my son, but ended up going a different route and it was never activated. I called Sprint yesterday and they told me they had no record of my IMEI number.

Paid for an unlocking service on eBay. I’ve used them several times. They unlocked it via the MetroPCS unlock app (not really an app because they’ve built it in to the actual OS on the A20 under more network settings). So it’s an official unlock not some remote in to your PC scam thing.

I'm guessing almost all the MetroPCS A20s on craigslist were given "free with contract" so the initial 24-month contract is not up yet (your case may be different). In that case, I'd expect MetroPCS(Tmo) to eventually put the MEID onto their blacklist. The carriers used to honor each others' blacklists, which could cause Vz to shut off service in the future.
That said, I bought a craigslist Boost G4 a few years ago, which was not accepted by Sprint but has worked fine on Tmo and ATT ever since. So maybe they are not sharing blacklists anymore.
So I look at the ebay link, did you paid 64$ to unlock this device? really

For anyone interested. The updated terms through metro for unlocking the carrier on an Android just involves paying more than $100 on your phones bill.
My A20 is free to unlock in about 10 days or so.
MetroPCS version of the A20
Have you activated the MetroPCS version of the A20 before you sent IMEI to unlock it, mine was not activated. as per my knowledge, Verizon SIM cards work with the following phones such as Verizon iPhone, Verizon Galaxy phone or other unlocked CDMA phones. and it won't be compatible with ATT or GSM phones. I want to get my hands on new MetroPCS as my last phone was way too old and wanted to know whether MetroPCS open near me or not.

It's locked until you insert a valid, active Verizon SIM into it, and then it unlocks. This is Verizon trying to normalize and eventually skirt around the FCC unlock requirements.

No, this is just how Verizon phones work now. I believe the active SIM has to be in around an hour or so.
I beg to differ I have a Verizon note 10 and it had a active Verizon SIM card but when I insert my cricket SIM it registers for about 45 secs to a min. Then says something about this phone cant be on another network.

I called Verizon again just few days prior to my international travel, they agreed to unlock the phone for me! I received a text message that read "Verizon Msg: Once you put a non-verizon SIM car into this device, it'll be unlocked for use on other carrier networks". And when I landed in Austria, purchased a local SIM card, inserted into the phone, then received a message right away that read " Sorry, your device can't be activated on another carrier's network right now. For help, contact Verizon at (800)922-0204 or (888) 294-6804" So I called Verizon, they said the device is unlocked, passed me to the technical team, they said they see the device is unlocked and they were not sure what was going on.. Long story short, the device is still locked. I returned to the US, and been in contact with Verizon trying to figure out what was the issue, because I like my fully paid phone to be unlocked. Yes, I finally go to speak to someone who knew what he was talking about. Initially when I called them, the tech person said she unlocked the phone, but when she refreshed my account, it shows it was locked again and she did not know what was going on.
Yesterday when I called them, this rep said, new phones are locked for 60 days, and even if we tried to unlocked them manually the system overrides the changes and reverts it back to locked, that's what was happening in my case earlier. He said the to wait for 60 days and try it out. It just passed 60 days for me since I had the phone activated with Verizon, so I tried it last night with T-Mobile SIM card and Austrian one, both worked well! So I guess waiting 60 days is the answer.

He said the to wait for 60 days and try it out. It just passed 60 days for me since I had the phone activated with Verizon, so I tried it last night with T-Mobile SIM card and Austrian one, both worked well! So I guess waiting 60 days is the answer.

I have the same lock issue. The problem is that I'm not the fist owner of the phone and there is no way I can track how many lock days left. The interesting thing about this Verizon lock is that when you insert non-Verizon SIM the phone is not locked straight away. It works as fully unlocked for about 5 min. I guess that it could run longer with no Internet connection. Certainly we need a hacker here .

Verizon should be able to tell you when was it activated on their system. I'd give them a call and ask.

I had an online chat with Verizon. They kindly told me that couldn't assist me with it without account details which I don't have. That's quite annoying.
So would it be safe to assume that the phones with "bad IMEI" will never get automatically unlocked this way or it won't matter?

I beg to differ I have a Verizon note 10 and it had a active Verizon SIM card but when I insert my cricket SIM it registers for about 45 secs to a min. Then says something about this phone cant be on another network.

Now I don't have any idea how long the active SIM was inserted, so I can't say you aren't correct sir.

This was changed in July. The phone must remain active for 60days before unlocked to another Network.
I am on day 74 and been fighting with Verizon two weeks now to get unlocked. They are all clueless. Phone still locked.
Same issue here. Note10+5G. Day 64 still locked. Tech support can't figure out what is going on. SIM works excellent for the first 30 sec-1 min, then the lock launches and I'm locked out. It's clearly something Verizon screwed up. I've elevated the issue and filed an FCC complaint. I suggest everyone does so too so that we have a case against them since locking past 60 days is a breach of contract and against FCC regulations. They are obligated to reply and compensate for the damage done.
any updates on this unlocking? my 2 devices are past the 60 days and are still locked!
