I have a AT&T Samsung Note 5 that recently broke. Screen is shattered, screen won't turn on,but the phone still turns on but stuck on boot loop. I keep hearing the AT&T intro sound, but its broken like the sound skips. After a minute or two it I will hear it again. Sounds like a boot loop.
I'm on a stock factory rom, not rooted.
I did setup a finger print security on the phone.
I see a blue led light on top of the phone.
I tried using findmymobile from samsung didn't work.
However I did something else. I pressed the home+volume up and power button. I hear a usb sound and installing devices. It then show installing gadget serial
what does that mean?
I simply need to recover my files before I sent it out to my insurance. I am getting a new phone from them, but I need to get my stuff off this phone before I sent it out.
What can I do?

phone was acting slow on thursday...tried restarting the phone a couple times to speed it up, and on one restart it got stuck on the white reboot screen with the options to reboot, recover etc. ...problem is, the volume buttons wont work and neither will power button so cant do anything really. Tried taking battery out and phone goes back to this screen...suggestions?
phone has cracked screen so the douche at ateeandtee said he couldnt look at it...
Sounds like volume down is stuck. I think you're gonna have to open it up. Or send it to someone for repair, like HTC.

Today, I noticed that my data was not working right, so I decided to reboot the phone. I press the restart option, the phone turns off, the screen lights up, it goes through the restart cycle, and then suddenly, after the Tmobile logo, the screen turns black while the buttons light up. the phone is charged and I have tried repeatedly, and cannot get the phone to boot up I am currently at a summer camp, and I will not be able to exchange the phone for at least a week, and I need it to communicate with my parents.
Boot in recovery and factory reset your phone. Should work.

Thank you!!!! I was able to restore, and I am now downloading my backed-up stuff from HTC's servers. Do you think that the FOTA could have done this? Is the FOTA even being pushed by TMO yet?
Hard to say. Could be a bad app or some corrupted file that just happened to be there.... it's all good now, I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again.
Good luck.
Hello Everyone,
I'd be eternally grateful for any technical advice and wisdom anyone that can help with my issue! I have a previously rooted phone that I have to return for a warranty, but the bootloader is unlocked and I can't lock it again.
Here is the problem, my phone completely shuts off about 10 seconds after the screen turns off. It's a full shut down, not just the screen not turning back on.
Some other symptoms:
My phone won't power on while it's plugged into the wall outlet. I have to remove it from the charger for it to turn on. But it will charge while the phone is ON and I plug it into the wall outlet afterwards.
My phone will automatically shut off when I plug it into any USB cable connected to a computer that's on (however, it doesn't automatically shut off if I plug it into the wall charger while it's on)
When I press power and volume down for ODIN or volume up + volume down for the bootloader screen, both screens will only show up briefly, then the phone will immediately shut down. I can't access either menus.
I have tried swapping out my battery with my wife's, and it does the same thing. Her phone works perfectly fine with my battery, mine doesn't work with either. (We have the same phone).
I rooted my phone a little less than a year. It became unrooted quite a while back when I accidentally ran a stock update. I never messed with it since. I'm EXTREMELY rusty with rooting and custom firmware and flashing, etc., so I apologize in advance.
I'm terrified because I'm sending out my phone under that Samsung warranty because all of my tech sense tells me there's a hardware issue going on; it's not my fault. However, aren't they going to see the big "Unlock" icon under the google logo when they get my phone, and immediately say I have a voided warranty? The representative said they'd charge me $300 if they phone was "damaged".
I almost wish my phone were a complete brick and wouldn't turn on at all. But at this point without access to a bootloader menu and my phone being unrooted and not able to work with it on my computer, I'm not sure what I can do.
It's already restored completely to factory defaults through the android interface. But that "unlock" icon is still there when it boots.
Anyone have any advice for me at all? Again, if my terminology is off or I'm not being clear in some way, I apologize. Let me know and I'll clarify and/or give any more information required.
I have about three days to figure this out before the prepaid shipping box and my new phone gets here.
Thanks so much in advance.
Sincerely,
Darkencypher
Just for clarification, its the Samsung Galaxy Nexus SCH-I515.
Thanks

Last chance
As I'm running short on time before my new phone gets here, I figured I'd give it another shot at seeing if anyone out there knows how to help me.
I'm nervous that the "unlock" logo that appears below the Google logo when I boot my samsung galaxy nexus means that my warranty is void. I was able to restore it back to factory defaults, but I can't remove that "unlocked" icon because the phone is so severely disabled in its current state do to some hardware problem that keeps it shutting off.
I'd settle for anyone even knowing how to turn my phone into a paperweight at this point. I'd rather it not turn on at all when they get it lest they see I've unlocked my phone and void my warranty even though I'm certain I have a hardware problem due to manufacturer defect.
Also, on a side note if anyone reads this and knows a little bit more about troubleshooting phones based on symptoms: I downloaded a program called Wake Lock and set it to keep the CPU running in the background even when the screen is off. It doesn't appear to shut off anymore when the screen turns off.
Thanks again,
Darkencypher
Got a perculiar problem with the S6. The screen suddenly went black with just the blue LED blinking in the upper left hand corner of the sreen. I am assuming the phone went off completely as I cannot access it via the PC also. I have tried all possible button combinations for reset but no luck so far.
Anyone else experience this? Did you find a fix?

Well the phone is not off if the blue led light is blinking, I've never had it happen to me where the phone didn't come back though. I was using an app one day (YouTube I think) and the app crashed and bugged the phone out to where the screen went black but the led was blinking. I left the phone alone after several attempts of hitting home and power to get the screen to come back on and finally I think I plugged it into the charger and it kind of just fixed it self and has not happened again. This is the scary parts of not having a removable battery.

I've got the 128GB and yes I have experienced this as well, twice! I hold down both volume buttons the home button and the power button at the same time, this will put you in maintenance mode. It'll take a couple of seconds holding those buttons but just keep them pressed. Be careful because when it does come on it comes on fast and factory reset is the second selection in that mode. The first time I did it I wiped my phone, the second time it happened I lifted my fingers fast enough not to make a selection. Give that a try and see what happens.

Sounds like you have the same problem as stated in OP. You could try doing what was recommended earlier in the thread. By the way, this is an inappropriate location to put your problem. Read the forum rules
Never rooted.
I am having the same issue. I have tried everything. Factory reset. Reboot/wiped cache and even trying to install verizon's Fireware again as it come only up to the Samsung S6 logo then goes blank. This is now my 4th replacement with Verizon and getting sick of it. How do I fix this? Odin stops at Get Pit mapping then when I do that says it can not install NAND. Using Odin 3.10.6 and 3.10.7. Tried mutli cables and restarted computer as well. This is driving me insane these phones keep doing this.
same problem except nothing comes on. no led, no reset, no computer recognition...
Same issue. Boots into and displays recovery fine and download mode. I can also bring up the safe mode menu ... just can't boot into the OS. Blue light on. I get a response in ADB when powered on, just can't enter any commands due to not being able to authorize access via phone screen.
Update:
Well as strange as it sounds, as soon as I plopped it down on the wireless charger for my S7 the screen came to life. It was at 95% battery prior to. Whatever gremlins got into the gizmos within the wireless charging apparatus seems to have caused this strange occurrence.
So, i decided to finally root my Note 5 after figuring out how to do everything without a power button. Well, last night after rooting and flashing TWRP. I reset my phone not knowing about their new authentication thing. Basically, I can't get my phone to boot normally. It says on the Samsung screen with the red lets, but if I plug it in, it turns the screen on, shoes the red let,, shuts off, then repeats/
My problem is, I have no way of getting into download mode. ADB doesnt recognize the phone as it shuts off and off if plugged in, the function to put it in download stopped working for no apparent reason. I would get to the "Warning" messages before downloading through Odin, yet it wouldn't let me use the download or restart option.
So, Now I am stuck with it not working and had to go back to a Galaxy S3 (It's...so...smalll....) Doesn't anyone know of any possible way to get it into download mode or to bypass the authentication? Any help would be awesome, don't want an expensive phone to just die out on me before it's even a year old.
Ok, first and foremost congratulations on the rooting process, glad you could do it without a power button. However it is with sad news that there is nothing you can do without that power button. You're basically at a point of no return from what I can see unless you can get the power button repaired. Essentially you have a paper weight. Unless someone else has any ideas on what to try, I've got nothing.

Yup he needs to get the power button fixed at this point or he has a nice paperweight.
My only question is why not have fixed it in the first place once you knew it was not working?
Makes no sense really to leave it broken when you know you will likely need it.

Most likely this idea will not work either but have you tried to plug the phone into the
fast charger for 3-4 hours without touching it or trying anything, then plugging it into
the usb of your computer and see if ADB recognizes it?
Good luck!!!
