Hello guys. Today after some research on various websites i found out that google assistant for S7 Edge (and many other devices) has arrived. Method to enable it is easy. You must switch language to English US and install latest Google App (from apk mirror for example - installed latest beta). After a while when I long pressed home button google assistant setup appeared.
Enjoy
Ps. No root needed and at the moment assistant is only working when you set English US language, when i switched back to English UK assistant disappeared and normal ok google app appeared (so make sure you stay on English US).
This has been discussed in numerous other threads including the correct section:

Hello all,
I just cannot believe what I am seeing!
I currently use CyanogenMod 7 and was sad because I couldn't find voice search in the Market.
After a quick look in the Web Market, I just learn that my Carrier (Base, Belgium) does not allow (see attached screenshot)
After Googling, I just feel alone because no one else reported same issue
Just installed Market Enabler and everything is fine.
I am just astonished to see that such a basic app is country-dependant
Same thing happened to me i just reflashed the rom.. and ofcourse wipe dalvik and wipe data/cache and it went away hope it helps
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Lol! Funny thread
Why is that a funny thread?
Because you live in America and you have access to all Google services?
Please think about all other countries that have to cross their fingers each time there is a new product/service/application to know if that will be available in their country.
That's just amazing that we have no information on why we have access to a limited services and having restriction on basic stuff like voice search because we live in other country than America.
I guess voice search is tailored for each language? Hence the lack of support. I know voice search initially supported only English, more languages were added later on. If your language is currently not supported, I guess that would be the reason why it's not available in your country.
Google voice search work pretty well in english and french-dutch-german (our 3 national langages)
Just tried every langage with amazing results.
I had the same issue with YouTube.apk. Market Enabler fixed it again for me, but I remember Google having removed the region-related conditions on app-purchasing... what's up with that?
Anyone know how to get Google Translate working with offline speech input (e.g. in airplane mode) on the Idol 3? This worked for me on my old Moto phone running KK (actually, running CM11). But on the Idol 3, I can do offline translation via typing (having downloaded the relevant offline language packs), and I can get the app to speak either the typewritten input or output, but when I tap the microphone to activate speech input, I get a never-ending "initializing" message. Voice typing itself works offline (e.g. I can compose a notepad note), just not within Google Translate.

You might try installing the google offline voice xposed module....you might also have luck using a keyboad like swiftkey that has it's own voice input button.

I can update a bit. If I go to settings/Language & Input/Voice Input and select "Basic Google Recognition", then Translate will most of the time (not always) recognize my speech input offline (as noted before I have no issues in other apps, so I can't see where swiftkey would help), for going from English to the other language of interest (in this case, Japanese). And the phone will speak the Japanese translation. But going in the other direction does would not work. I have the Japanese offline language pack installed, so that is not the issue. The issue may be that I didn't have Japanese as an installed "Downloaded Language" under "Offline speech recognition". I have now taken care of that, (it requires knowing how to write "Japanese" in kanji characters), but seemingly it still doesn't work offline (I don't have a good Japanese speaker available to test, but with an internet connection the app recognizes my poor Japanese. But not offline.)
Have you considered using a dedicated app for your translations rather than google? I know I picked up one or two as amazon free apps. One was http://www.amazon.com/Jourist-Verla...1440539636&sr=1-1&keywords=travel+interpreter
I mention it because you may want to review "similar apps" and see if any are free and will suit your purpose.
I am new to this, I have copied the repo software onto my SD card. What do I do now? I still have no offline voice recognition.
Had similar probl w s4
Switch to google txt 2 spch engine
Instsll translation dats of choice for offline use
Can translate foreign language offline to eng but not eng to foreign language
Suspect can only translate to default language with free app offline...no rev for google
Hi,
I just flashed the nexus 5 official image for android 6.0; I have used adb and fastboot and I flashed everything but the userdata.img (as I did with all previous updates). Everything looks fine with the exception of google now on tap: if I long press the home "button" it only takes me to the regular google now page. The google app is version 5.3 (which is supposed to enable on tap), I tried both google now launcher and nova, but the result is always the same, standard google now page with no content relevant to the page/app I was in.
Is it expected ? do i have to enable it somehow ?
thanks
bye
Enrico
It only works with system language set to English. You then have to enable it under Settings - Google - Search and Now. You'll find a toggle there for Now On Tap, which isn't there with the system language set to anything other than English.
I posted about it on r/Nexus5 this morning, too.
Thanks, that worked.
Too bad on tap is not available for all other languages ...
bye
Enrico
Google Now On Tap doesn't work if you have it set on your Google Apps account. If you use/switch to your gmail account (and set it on english language) the feature does work. Hopefully this feature is made available to those of us on google apps account soon! The on tap feature is pretty neat.
The point is that the limitations on languages and accounts are not exactly advertised; either they are going to be fixed soon or google is hiding them behind the carpet ...
My system language is set to English (US), but the now on tap toggle goes back to off as soon as I press on Get Started.
mine does the same, I'm on US English but the now on tap toggle goes back to off as soon as I press on Get Started.
Google rolled out assistant for Android 6+ in March, but here in India, I still haven't got it. I tried methods of updating my Google as well as Play Services App to Beta versions, clearing data and cache and setting language to English US as well. Has anybody got the assistant via any method on Android 6? Please let me know.

You can enable the Google Assistant without rooting the device:
instruction:
First of all select the language as English(US) which u have already done
second one is register for beta for google play services and if any updates for google play services (beta) update it and if u r not able to find the google play services on Play Store ... just google it and tap on result and scroll down u will find an option for beta tester click on and u will be register for beta updates
Third one is register again for google beta services and install the beta updates
After all these steps .... Run the google app from Home screen ... dont swipe ok
wait for 2 minutes and then long press the Home Button and BOOOOOOM :good: u have enabled the Google assistant on ur devices without rooting:good:
And to revert back to google now change the langauge prefernce to english(India)
or U can also visit this link https://beebom.com/how-enable-google-assistant-any-android-no-root/ for clear understanding ...
I really don't understand the nee to change language to English (US). If the "Ok Google" features works perfectly with English(India), Why won't google assistant work
Hey guys,
I have a question about google assistant. My LG Zero meets all the requirements for google assistant and it is up to date. I've tried everything, signing up for google beta and google services beta, and then cleaning all the google and google services data, restarting my phone, setting language to english US and UK ( neither worked ), I even went deeper with the apps that allow you to open extra google processes, but i was never able to get it, it still shows that stupid help menu when i hold down the home button. I have android 6.0 and google version higher than 6.13, google and google services are both up to date. Could someone help me please? I really want to get that google assistant because i want to connect it to my Jbl charge 3 speaker for some awesome features.
Thank you for your time,
Best regards, Maks
