So I have the AT&T variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930A). I had installed root using a tutorial I found on these forums and everything went great for months. I started getting some errors after automatic updates ran (the Play Store kept crashing) so I tried to flash back to the stock firmware. Doing this, I ended up at the "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software" page.
I've tried using Smart Switch, but the application tells me that my device is unsupported and entering my model and serial numbers into the software just causes it (the smart switch app) to crash.
On the Android Recovery screen, I can see that I have the G930AUCS2APH1 firmware running Android 6.0.1. I believe I have found the original stock firmware for this version here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/at...rmware-stock-sm-g930a-ph1-odin-files-t3458890
But whenever I try to flash anything other than CP to my phone in Odin, I end up with a FAIL! (Auth) error.

I've tried using different USB ports and cables, as well as a few different firmwares (admittedly, even some that are not the PH1 update) but all end up with the same result.
Can anyone help me out? I believe I'm doing everything right but I cannot get my phone up and running again for the life of me.
OKAY so I believe I fixed the problem before anyone could get to this so this is for anyone that stumbles across this thread. I was able to successfully flash the PK1 update to my phone. I found the firmware here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_lsL4sQwjajY2dxSkFjYmw4OGM
Just flashing the AP package seems to have worked fine.

I thought going back to stock everything would be easy enough, but not.
I've been having issues with my phone and my only blame I can put is at the custom roms feet.
I'm trying to go back to stock. I have the correct drivers installed, I have odin ready and downloaded the firmware.
I first tried G920FXXU1AOCV_G920FTEF1AOC1_G920FXXU1AOCW_HOME.tar which failed
Comes up on the screen of the phone as: SW REV, CHECK FAIL, DEVICE: 3, BINARY: 1
With odin displaying:

I tried with another firmware: G920FXXU2BOFJ_G920FBTU2BOFJ_G920FXXU2BOFJ_HOME.tar which also failed exactly like the above.
I am in the process of downloading a third, one from sammobile. I don't hold up much hope for that either.
Any thoughts?
Hope did you changed the different USB port and original USB cable.
If still same problem , please install smart switch
put it in download mode
open smart switch.
choose the emergency software recovery option.
if the smart switchsays it can t recognize ur device..
Then you have an option there to pick the device manually.
write the model(SM-G920F)
Write the S/N (SERIALNUMBER) which you can find on the back

Hello,
I recently borrowed my roommate's Verizon S4 because my phone broke. I rooted it because I have a different provider.
However, in my root addicted mind-set, I decided to get a custom ROM installed and so I tried to download recovery. This phone was running 5.0.1.
Upon downloading a recovery, the phone soft-bricked. It shows the Samsung logo with a wrench, and makes an error message when attempting to boot.
I tried using Odin to flash the stock firmware, but I kept getting the following error:
<ID:0/003> Odin engine v(ID:3.1005)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..

I've searched long and far and have yet to find a solution. I know that the reason for this issue is most likely due to the 5.0.1. build, but I was hoping that maybe something had developed in the last few months.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Also, I am not able to boot into recovery, but I am able to boot into download mode - I also reinstalled the Samsung drivers, and am using Odin 10.6. I tried using the ME7 firmware, but that didn't lead to much either.
I recently found a Verizon Software Assistant file and my phone won't be recognized on the application. Not sure what next steps are. I posted on reddit too, and no luck there either.

Hi shivpaulchadha
Thanks you for using XDA Assist.
I see you already posted in the correct forum before here. Could you please "bump" your thread up for it could be noticed by others users? I'm sure our experts in there will be able to tackle the issue.
Nice regards and good luck.
.
I'm trying to install TWRP onto my Samsung Galaxy S8+ but when I try to flash the .tar file using Odin, I am receiving an error.

How do I fix this?
You know, I went for a number of days getting Odin errors on two phones, an S7 and S7 Edge, couldn't figure it out, tried everything I and others/other posts, Youtube could think of...
then I read a suggestion it might be the USB cable.
It was a brand new cable, but I swapped it out and BAM, no more errors.
Good luck
I had an similar problem.
You have to install the right BL (Bootloader) and CP (Modem)
Just keep trying the last ones you had and sometime it will work. BL and CP have to be the same Version...
Just a hint...
lienot
Try another usb cable and/or another usb port ???
... and have you found a solution?
I have the same problem. I thought maybe there might be something wrong with my cable. So I borrowed my brother's which is completely undamage and still had the same problem. This is how I got into this mess!....
Used comsy and official Odin.
1. Phone out of the box
2. Flashed HD3
3. Flashed QD9 modem and tmo user data
Since then I haven't been able to flash anything.
I had the same issue for S7 ATT. Read thread, changed USB port, reinstalled USB drivers and done. It worked just fine.
I am trying everything and still receiving AUTH fail
I have an S7 Edge Anything else I can try? Thank you
So I'm trying to reset my phone(regular S8 but hoping if someone else had the same issue the fix might be the same) as a bad rom flash caused some sort of issue and couldn't get back into twrp "official binaries only"
Find latest firmware for my csc (which was july) doesnt work, I thought it might have been a BL issue as I had the august patch through a custom rom, found a different csc which was from august, and I get the same error
I also no longer get the official binaries only, just a bootloop of "An error has occurred while updating....use emergency recovery function in smart switch" which I also tried, no luck, but I can still get into download mode
Using most recent odin, official cable, updated usb firmware and such and am running as admin. Have tried different ports too, but it always fails at same step

Phone also says SW REV CHECK FAIL (Bootloader) Device 5, Binary: 4 after failed ODIN install
Any Ideas? Thanks

You are trying to downgrade from bootloader 5 to 4 (see here Device 5, Binary: 4 )which it wont let you. download firmware with bootloader 5
Here's what I did from start
Installed TWRP
installed lineage 17.1 with gapps and magisk
Removed everything and installed pixel experience 10 herolte
Volte was not working in both
So I downloaded the stock firmware (latest) according to my model - G930FD INS and tried to flash it through odin as per steps
But
The log gets stuck on 'SYSTEM.IMG' and after a while fails to flash the phone.
I just want to get my stock firmware back so I can start my calls and msgs.
Please help.
I didn't used anything different just clean flashed my phone.
I have the latest firmware for stock

Solved
As the problem was, while flashing with Odin it wasn't showing any error and was only giving out output as Fail, turns out it was a port problem, I changed my USB port and cable and it worked fine. My friend also gave me advice to try it on another laptop because this happens sometimes and sometimes it works.
So if your log is something similar to what I have posted try downloading the latest Odin and changing ports or PCs, if nothing then create an id here and start a thread somebody will help you out for sure.
Peace
