The OP header is pretty misleading. It says Malware shipped with Mi4i, where as the story reported in the link says a different think. They say, it was not shipped from the manufacture. Also, it was from the devices used by two companies.
And as mentioned there, the nature of the infection, the variety of handheld manufacturers and models, I think, someone in that company sent a malicious link and every one clicked on it...

With great pleasure i read today that Notion Ink Adam tablet is available for preorder. i want to ask some questions
1. What operating system it will running? Rumours refer Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) is the operating system
2. If the above is true will it support upgrade to Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) when it will be ready?May be is running a custom version of Android or stock one?
3. About 3G does it cover GSM 900,1800 and UMTS 2100?
4. Will google market be available?
The tablet hasn't even passed the FCC. As of now, it doesn't even exist in a form available for consumers. The site also allows you to provide your billing info without providing a shipping address, which should set off a big red scam alert flag in your head.

Thanks for the info my friend.I didnt know that it did not passed FCC.Really now i wonder why they start taking money from people. That's stupid ,not to say more bad words.
I think i must look for alternatives.
Many people like me, who don't search for info before buying something, are easy to get fraud.
Not a scam

I beg to differ with you guys. Its genuine and The pixel Q version of the tabs are already sold out and they showcased this device in CES much before you have had any clues about Galaxy tab or any other for that matter. Between I have visited their office (Bangalore, India) personally 2 days back.
They have launched a developer section too. And if you talk technically then they have managed to solve android app's inability to handle large screens.

Here's the original report, and even though the "billing info without shipping info" has been fixed, it still doesn't change the fact that it hasn't even passed the FCC. I think I'd entrust my money with an actual well-known manufacturer with a product that I can see and touch before I buy.
Why is it that the pessimist is always the first to respond. Whatever. On the FCC issue, I vaguely remember that they did something so that you can't find it but I can't remember where I found that.

Well, when you're dealing with money for a luxury product that has several alternatives it's okay to be pessimistic. Better safe than sorry in a situation like this, no?

Here, have some valuable information:
"We have done something with our FCC application and it will be little difficult for you to find us!"
to answer your questions:
1. It will most likely run on 2.2 at first but "Eden is extremely compatible with 2.3" this implies that they are working on it.
2."This was a big step in converting your Android to a tablet version OS (and one of the updates coming in 3.0)" I'm not sure what this implies, but it might mean we will get 3.0
3.I have no idea, the whole 3g thing is a little confusing
4."Will it support the Google Market place? Or do you have your own market place/App Store that you are developing?
-We will have our own market place."
however, it probably won't take long for the devs to get the market on it.

yeah I totally agree on the fact that it is okay to be pessimistic, but most of what you heard that makes the adam sound shady came from one series of articles on android police. I'm not sure, but I bet that if they tried they could make any company sound shady. Anyway, if Notion ink sounds shady, it's not really their fault, they are extremely inexperienced. It is a company run by 20-something year olds with no business experience straight out of college. They're bound to make some mistakes.
Even after many petitions, complaints at various forums, Micromax Pvt. Ltd is not planning to release any GPL Sources for their Android handsets
I am calling in all those interested in filing a lawsuit against Micromax for not releasing the kernel code.
If you are interested to do this, PM Me. The more users we have the more impact we can make. I believe they should not be allowed to get away with monetizing other people's work without respecting the licensing terms behind this.
With a good lawyer, its even possible to make them stop selling the product. May be that would wake them up.
Cheers!
All their crap comes from China, zelendel said something about this not being possible in one of the earlier threads.

I know that they import Chinese handsets and re brand them. But this fact will not protect them, as they are listed as a manufacturer and not a supplier. I believe we can give them a good shake down with enough people behind this.

Sry to have called your phone as crap. Worth a try, but i doubt if you'll find many supporters as there are only a few who use micromax and only a small portion of them are on xda i believe. cmiiw. But that doesn't matter, can get people to sign the petition irrespective of that .
Comeon man i am with you we want kernel source codes

Infact, I don't own any micromax phones. I am doing this just for the community. But before I get the lawyers ready, I will buy some ****ty phone of theirs so that I will be a customer and they will be bound to the GPL.

That's good! Cheers!! I'm a no0b when it comes to this. Are we talking about consumer court?
From CNN:
"ZTE Corporation, one of China's largest tech companies, has halted "major operating activities" after a US ban against the company went into effect, according to a new public filing."
"Some of the company's products, which includes smartphones and telecommunications equipment, appeared to be taken offline Wednesday. "
And this is so stupid because not everyone lives in the US.........
Unfortunately ZTE have not kept up an agreement with the US and action has been taken .... makes me think thank god for tdm and his amazing work

The biggest part of the seven-year ban involves no buying any products from US based companies. So no Qualcomm chips, no Dolby, etc. That's what really is devastating to them.
That being said it still sucks. It seemed like they were heading in a good direction, but they violated terms of a legal settlement. I'll still be using my Axon 7 Mini as a "backup" phone, but unfortunately won't be able to get another ZTE...

If I were you I would maybe go with Huawei, they manufacture most of the parts themselves. Don't know if they will be also banned soon
ZTE should partner with Huawei and get the parts from them. Although I am unsure which supplier is being used for WiFi (if it would be Broadcom it would be funny)

Partnering with Huawei might get past finding a supplier for the CPU/SoC - switch from Snapdragon to Kirin. Mediatek would be another option.
Still, they'd be stuck needing to roll out a whole new lineup of devices based on the new hardware.
In any event, would still have trouble purchasing a license for Google-certified Android software such as the Play Services, Play Store, etc.
However, it's starting to look like the USA strategy all along was to use this export ban as a bargaining tool to force China to make concessions in ongoing trade negotiations. There's nothing like going thermonuclear (figuratively speaking) to catch your adversary's (also known as "trading partner's") attention. Trump has recently tweeted that he's open to "working together" with the Chinese government to re-start ZTE's operations. (On the other hand, I've read in other news sources claiming that the most recent string of events with the USA backpedaling on the ZTE file is evidence of China preying on a naive USA trade strategy. Who knows: Maybe both opinions are true?)
hi guys
i've heard some months ago, about how arab countries are spying on their citizens through their phones, the most strange information was that they were using a software capable to introduce any phone only by its number, at that time i didnt believed such thing, yesterday major news portals confirmed this information, i just have one question, how they do that ?! something like bruteforce from a satellite ???
from reuter article :
The attacks utilized a cyber weapon called Karma. As Reuters reported in January, Karma allowed Raven operatives to remotely hack into iPhones by inputting a target’s phone number or associated email address into the attack software. Unlike many exploits, Karma did not require a target to click on a link sent to an iPhone, they said. Apple declined to comment.

As far as I know, it takes advantage of a flaw in Apple's iMessage system
Sounds like an app exploit...

Hi Im wondering if the Oppo Find X2 Oro has good fanbase and community supoort?
I have ordered mine already but havent found much information on the popularity of the device.
Do you guys think its just a matter of time? Or do oppo devices flop in terms of community support just due to low popularity?

You have this community and also the one below.
https://community.coloros.com/forum.php
For the UK, it is the first time this year that oppo has come into the market.
I read somewhere Vodafone signed a big deal with oppo to do their phones.
Essentially they just part of the same main company of oneplus, Realme etc. all under the bbk electronics.
