Email readers don't work on MTCD - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I've tried an email reader that works elsewhere (Joying Sofia and Octacore 5.1.1), on two MTCD HUs (InDash 6.0 and Pumpkin 5.1.1), and in all 4 cases the app crashes on launch. I also tried a reader that I am not familiar with, MessageLoud, with the same results. Any ideas? I know there are readers for gmail.

Update: In-dash Android 6 is ok now, I don't know if I was confused or the developer fixed it.

It looks like this is just a matter of installing Google TTS, then the email readers are ok.

Sygic

Can you guys post a video or describe your experience with this app. Ill try to post one later.
Since Joying and other brands prepackage(installed a pirated apk) and even advertise it, that MUST mean Sygic should work flawlessly.
Its Not.
Its horrible and just slow. After first I thought about returning the product but I waited till there was a custom rom. It still hasnt fixed the issue.
Ive seen videos for Sygic on MTCB and it looks like it runs great.
Since there are no plans for source do I have a paperweight.
I have an evo4g running 2.3 that runs sygic better and more responsive.
The Rk3188 on other devices runs things fine. Without source this is looking like a regret./
Ive also purchased Sygic and both the pirated app that it came with and the playstore version run horrible.
Heres how it usually acts

I have a HotAudio unit... mtcd 5.1.1.
It comes with IGO preinstalled (pirated), not sygic. It works well but its gui is old stylish.
I installed sygic and initially it goes well. I did yesterday so I have to check more time.
Can you post a video on order to see what is "slow" for you? And then we can compare...

I use sygic as my main GPS on my Joying unit. No issues at all. Installed it from Google Play Store and purchased the lifetime traffic etc.. for it.
My unit did not come with a map card. They emailed me a link to iGo. Do we know these are pirated? I know it seems like it is, and most likely is, but is there a way to tell?
I have not tried iGo or Sygic. I just downloaded the map of my city in Google Maps. works pretty good
Runs fine on my MTCD KD unit. Sometimes it is slow on startup, but when loaded it's fine. Can you describe horrible and slow?
I update my original post with a video
Which rom do you have? Stock or custom (Malaysk)?

Ive tried stock, update for stock. Malaysk V1-v5. All with the same problem. You guys must be lucky to have a working model if Im the only one having this issue. Ive emailed Sygic directly with the response I got from the seller and awaiting a response from them. Joying advertises this on their product page which is why I bought this.
Mine works ok with sygic. It is a little slow initially (and if you interrupt the loading it screws up the interface) but otherwise works flawlesly.
Working great for me
I typically use Nokia Maps but i tested Sygic this morning, works fine all the way to my work
Did all of you all get Sygic from Joying? I just got iGo.
I might just get it from the Play Store and try it out
Also - Google Maps is updating to allow offline storage on sd cards:

SO its super clear I have a defective unit yet doctorman and joying refuse to do an even exchange even though both claim warranty.
Doctorman(joying-usa) wanted more money from to fix the unit. I refused since I paid for a working item and not a defective unit.

I have asked to Sygic Support
Reply from Sygic "Facebook Support"
Thank you for contacting Sygic.
We are sorry but Sygic GPS Navigation app is primarly designed only for smartphones and tablets. Unfortunately we are not able to quarantee proper functionality of our application on Android car radios.
Thank you for understanding.
If you have any other question, or need any further assistance, just reply to this message to open the ticket again.
I have purchased sygic and it works ok. But it is a bit of a beast and slow to start.
For me, I keep Sygic and also Maps.ME loaded onto the device for having something that is pure offline and maps stored locally that I know will work when I don't have an internet connection.
In town I use google maps (and have stored offline of the local town), and often google maps also if I have internet/tethering for traffic.
Same here:
Slow on startup, but then it works fine.
But i do have a different issue with Sygic + Poweramp.
Poweramp doesn't lower the sound volume correctly, if there is a notification from Sygic.
I have Poweramp V3 installed, which should Support this Audiofocus thing, so i guess Sygic is the problem.
Has anyone similar issues?
Or even a solution?

Lack of vehicle app?

Hello,
I recently bought isudar unit (px5, android 8, 4 GB ram, MTCE_GS_v3.01_3) for my 2011 fiat bravo and there is no vehicle info application. Original navigiation shows information like consumption, trip, etc. so the CAN gives that info to HU.
I found this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...opment/vehicle-apk-reworking-px3-px5-t3893809
and downloaded apks. One of them installed, but its not working (after click app shows and close immediately). Others won't even install.
Anyone had similar issue or can help me with that?

PX6, Apps and Launcher not running smoothly..Why?

Hello,
maybe somebody can help me.
To the radio:
PX6, Hal9k v4.0.2 Android 9, DSP, MCU GS 3.40, 9 inch in the BMW e46
Following problem:
Launcher and apps do not run smoothly.
Tried solutions:
New motherboard installed
New coreboard installed
New firmware installed
New Hal9k v4.0.2 installed
Problem still exists.
I have the same issue. especially with google maps. it's laggy; typing feels like using my old 'Galaxy S'.

That's right.
I also see this especially with the I-Bus App.
But only as soon as graphics are in play.
Also in the normal launcher.
But as soon as you are in the settings, everything goes smoothly.
As soon as a graphic is shown again, it stops again.
I have the same issue too. is there any solution?
problem in the Google app. Turn the Google app back to the old version. don't update again.

the px6 has Dual cortex-a72 + Quad cortex-a53 on it´s Board.
This is a Chipset introduced in 2016. Antutu Benchmark should be around 70k - 80k Points. This is very slow, so i think it´s would be Time for Chinese Factorys building new Android Radios with newer Chipsets...
A fix:
Maps is a notoriously heavy app. But the reason it lags on px6 is more than that alone. You can make it nearly lag-free through 2 changes:
1. Use the 32-bit (armeabi-v7a) nodpi apk. The rk3399 supports 64 bit (arm64-v8a) but it runs substantially slower to the 32-bit of the same release for some reason.
2. Downgrade a bit. How much you're willing to Downgrade is dependent on your preference, but the older releases all still work. Unfortunately I like the new versions more so I only rolled back to 10.55.2, but even that alone was a significant improvement over the latest release.
I'm disappointed that this is a problem when my $100 Umidigi phone can run maps more smoothly that the $350 head unit, but these two options make it good enough.
Also a note for Spotify PX6 users: use Tasker/Automate to emulate a touch on the album art every time the app is started to effectively start it in player mode instead of browsing.

No issue with maps on PX5 with sink/fan on Hal3/ Android 8.1, torque and Spotify all running. Have you checked for CPU thermal throttling?
Also, I have kernel auditior setting performance governor at boot.

Zlink got deleted

I factory reset my head unit some pre-installed apps got re-installed but zlink got deleted. I can't reach the seller. I've tried many apk files from this forum, non of them works for me. I need help if I can get back zlink installed. Also, if I can use both android auto and carplay. The seller told me the head unit support both. But zlink I had installed support only carplay. I have attached the version no along with MCU.
I believe head unit would need a different Bluetooth module as most if not nearly all devices don't support the Android wireless zlink.
And for your main problem install a custom rom and you should get the zlink back (wired only for android also remember if the device doesn't work look for another USB port on headunit)

No problem if it's wired, no need to be wireless.
Is there any instructions on how to install custom rom? And how to download rom that works with my head unit?

First one I found but instructions are on first page
Usually a sd card slot (might have to take display off the head units metal casing )
File usually is renamed to Update.zip
Go to recovery mode
And use the update option.
You would search csn2_D should probably have more roms read to be downloaded

I have tried but when I get to recovery menu I get the error unable to open. I've attached picture. I have tried both names "kupdate.zip" and "update.zip"
-kupdate.zip name will pop an update msg. I press OK and restart into recovery mode with same error in picture
Try another usb plug in?
Try to located a sd card slot
Sorry I'm not much help I own a mtcd - psd version from Idoing.
I'll see if I cannot find better info

You may also try to find stock firmware via the tools thread I posted on this fourm
So far what I'm seeing is you need to
Rename file
Update.zip kupdate.zip or update2.zip
The usb or sd card needs to be formated to fat32
You have to use a "main usb" (My device came with two additional usb ports and one for connecting stock my stock one won't work but the included ones will.) My device also has a "hidden sd card reader located behind the screen with all the hardware"
The upgrade might only work for updates (so if 9 roms with 9 or 10 will work, if 10 only roms with 10 will work.)
I'd suggest reading the post #5 with the link I posted.
I cannot confirm if it will work or not
I'd also suggest searching for your device for more info
I've tried some roms which failed to install
I've also tried different usb ports which have failed
It's unfortunate it's a guessing game as there are way to many px4 px5 px6 alternatives

Thank you for these informations. I've managed to install the latest version and MCU. The USB stick wasn't on FAT32, but it's updated now.
Moreover, zlink is not installed with the custom ROM. After the first use, it installed like 7 apps but zlink isn't.

Idk it's a built in app in most mcu roms the apps won't work if installed via 3rd party they always ask for verification
I hope if there is any way to install it back

Yes, purchase a genuine Android audio unit and give up expecting Chinese origin junk will work according to claims, which is NOT Android auto.
Stop using these forums as support for unsupported gear, unless you want to put the effort in to resolve problems

Dude, calm down. My car model is not compatible in the link you provided which I have checked 3 years ago. The dealer couldn't even support me because my car is 2014. Android is supported for 2015+ of my car.
I have bought kenwood stereo that cost a lot and didn't fit without aftermarket frame that looked so cheap and noisy when installed. Nothing fit the original frame except this chinese junk. So either be helpful or stop wasting your and my time.

Just hoping to clarify that zlink link users will forever be wanting updates as google/manufacturer releases updates - resulting in posting here (there are multiple threads in these forums for the same issue).
Perhaps consider headunit reloaded.

Question Advice on how best to use a joying head unit!

Hi guys, i'm a little confused and between 2 minds on my joying headunit. I've been running the android 10 unit for quite some time now (https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-9...-android-10-0-car-autoradio-ips-1280x720.html) and generally really like the spec, features and responsiveness. However there seems to be a lot of different ways of using it. And i can't quite decide what would be the 'best' way.
1. I can use the unit natively, by installing the apps like waze, spotify, etc directly to the headunits storage and either fitting a 4G data sim
2. I can use the unit natively, by installing the apps like waze, spotify, etc directly to the headunits storage and using my phone as a wifi hotspot and tethering the internet to it to keep everything running natively.
3. I can use Android Auto and mirror my phones apps to the headunit and use it that way.
Just looking for opinions and discussion around how peope are using there's and why? I use mine in configuration 2 above.
As a side note, i'd love to install a custom rom onto the unit rather than use joying's image but can imaging a 100 things would break and that i'd potentially brick the unit by just attempting it. Even their update process seems to be a blog post that says "Here's some links, if you not sure what to use, email us and we'll advise." But i don't trust that i'd get much support with a bricked or dodgy update. Thouhts?
I do 1 and 3 on mine, but with CarPplay.
Reason being: CarPlay nav is more "on the road friendly" in that the UI is designed to be used while moving.
Native functionality is good when I want the unit to do the stuff while I just BlueTooth sound from a different device.
My one issue is that if I have data turned on and enable CarPlay, my phone uses the head unit as a hotspot which isn't ideal.

I believe you mean FYT UIS7862 based unit. Joying is a made up brand.
3. Pseudo Android Auto- reality is it is a hack that will eventually frustrate as google and phone manufacturer release updates. These units are NOT Android Auto.
Re. Custom ROMs. None exist and are not needed.
