hi Experts,
i tried to find the answer from the forum, took me hours but no answer. That is why I am posting this thread.I want to root my HTC G1.But I don't want to use custom roms.On iphone when I jailbreaked my phone i did not go for another rom ,i used the same that came with it.My question is if I root my android device ,do I really need to install a new rom or I can use the same that came with it but will gain some power of having root.
sincerely,
ml
You don't need to but why not use a rom that has more features than stock.
Thanks for reply.I want to but afraid of make the device too slow.i can still remember when I upgraded ios 3.0.2 to ios4 on my iphone ,it was quiet annoying to use.I just want to root to move my apps to the sd card.
Installing a custom rom, normally, doesn't make your phone goes slow... but it gives it a HUGE boost and add features!!! And Android is not Ios 4...

Thanks now I think there is no way to turn back. Can you or any one please tell me which rom I will go for.Cause My Htc G1 is not T-Mobile version ,it is from Rogers.i know there are a lot of thread about it ,I just need to focus on that rom which is the most stable and will work all functionality of the phone.
My phone, Samsung galaxy s3 mini
OK, so my phone is rooted, not by myself, so I'm not entirely sure what custom rom it has on. If this is needed known for my questions and there's a way to check, then please let me know. I'm happy to give whatever information I can to help with my questions. I can tell you its not rooted with CM.
Question one. The notification toggle that has screen settings, wi fi toggles etc, I want to know if it can be removed altogether so I can add my own using apps, or if it can be hidden or changed in anyway?
Question two. I'm aware that a lot of people like CM for a custom rom and last time I read they were working on a version for the phone I have, but I wondered what other custom roms have other people had success with? The only reason I asked this question is because the custom rom I'm using at the moment doesn't have much internally built in for changeable settings... I use to have CM on my HTC and had loads of custom settings that were things you couldn't change on the normal none rooted phone.

I can't get u clearly though, it seems u r on a custom rom whose name u don't know. U can check it in setting > about phone> build name. Usually custom roms have their signatures there.
1. U ll have to learn modding the systemui.apk and few other system files inside the system/app folder of the root.
2. The custom rom teams which are popular after CM are MIUI, AOSP, etc

First root ur device, uninstall the unwanted apps that eats up the ram.
The popular way to increase ram is through linux swap AFAIK but it makes ur device laggy..

I've managed to find out I'm using dmod. But I really would like to change it to something else that has a few more custom settings with it. Is there an easier way to change the toggle bar using mod settings type apps?

I know Stock Roms are the most stable with No bugs! But itz full of bloatware, which can be removed by rooting,Recently a 4-5 mb firmware update came for Core? Does it improve any performance??
And,Is it possible to get the same performance as custom roms on stock by using Custom kernel and Tweak Scripts?
Let me know ~Thanks
just for your information

I don't really want to encourage you to install the latest update of 4mb approx. if you have a rootted your device . if its framaroot you used to root then it leaves security holes that are easily detected by update and are blocked so it will remove root and u will never be able to root ur device again. be careful.and that if u r tired of using stock Rom u can flash custom Rom for better feel and experience.

Galaxy core update can not unroot your device forever x), even if you realy after update can not flash supersu, u can always flash stock rom and do it again... Here all custom roms are based on stock and every rom is jb 4.1.2, so changing in build prop android version won't make your rom runing it for real. So if you know how to customize your rom with right tweaks and modifications, your device will be better, and that's for sure.
Thanks for ur valuable answers!
I think i have pretty much got all my answers that i wanted! Thanks again,i Love this Forum!

Hello! I have the Boost Mobile LG Volt and I am somewhat of a noob but smart enough to get it rooted on V4 using a rollback guide and towelroot. My problem is i hate the stock kernel and hate not having voltage control. Is there a flashable package that i can use to add voltage control and all of the other fun things that come with a custom kernel? Ive seen guides on porting roms to my device and they seem fairly simple since its just editing a zip with all custom stuff and leaving the sys files alone. Again the kernel!!! Ive tried flashing so many diffrent kernels but they all softbrick my phone
I love this phone. With root i have CPU settings so it lasts 3 days heavy use. I want more !!! Please help!!!
The stock kernel for this phone is available on githubhttps://github.com/chevanlol360/Kernel_LGE_X5
And from what im reading kernels must be device tailored?

yes sir they do. development is still in its infancy, there are people working on cyanogenmod right now, but they "JUST" got audio support, so you may want to wait a minute. There are a few custom roms available, just takes a lil google-fu.
Also you are very lucky to still have a working phone, careful with those kernels.
Hey all the custom ROMers here. I hope you all are doing great. What ROM you are currently running on your P7/P7P and why? I'm pretty new to android root scene and looking forward to install custom ROM on my P7. Any answers would be appreciated!!

Custom ROM and ROOT is difference
With custom rom, u will get more features which lack from stock, more battery life
With root u will have more control of system ...

Oh sorry for the confusion. I'm fully aware of that but just wanted to know what people are using out there.

I'm on stock. In my opinion don't make sense to flash custom ROM on Pixel. That device is really optimized on stock. You never know when Dev stop development ROM. Yes... They always are sure never will be stopped. Many times I heard that and they stopped. I need really stable software to use daily. I used lot of ROMs. Even now official crDroid was stopped for 7pro. So I don't think so is good choice to flash custom if stock is enough optimized. Off course this is just my opinion.

I thought like you before
But battery life of stock p7 is so bad, i can't stay 1 day without charging the phone.
SOT is only about 4,5 hours. With evolution x, i have about 6-6,5h
Maybe it's the best thing that i want
I can't link the rom I use due to the rules.

You maybe not be able to link it but nothing in the rules stopping you naming it. What people then search for on Google is down to them

Yes. Your sot is really poor and I can understand you switched to custom ROM. My sot is 8 hours minimum.

How can u get it with stock ?
you will not get any extras from custom roms if you switched from official system , users who have xiaomi devices with cutting edge specs but poor software like miui might do so , but you have all the things you want in stock android , you might flash custom karnel for more perfomance and longer battery life ,but stock equals stability and reliability especially for pixels

Don't get me wrong, stock lack a lot of things that make your phone better function
you have magisk and its modules , you have custom kernels that improve battery life and perfomance , what do you want more than that , this can cover the extras you talk about , custom roms that are heavily modified than the rubbish miui skin is a headache , custom roms devs dont care much about tracking and fixing bugs , when you install custom roms you know that there is a deal , you get those useless extras , in exchange for stability and reliability
note , my words applied just for the pixel stock roms , not for third party rubbish like miui and oneui and their brothers

I'll get from a custom ROM whatever I add to said custom ROM, which, agreeably isn't much over stock, lol
I like the minimalist approach, pitch black, system fonts/icons, and battery styles are the only thing missing from stock, as far as I'm concerned.

No, no no, It is better on it's own, it just is, no question!
I have not done the hack for dm and then setting a kernel, no no, it just works
Crooked is pretty much stock with minimal changes, why we love it

I wondered the same thing.
Pixel devices are known for its Stock Pure Android experience.
I see know reason to install a custom rom on a pixel phone as the trade off isn't worth it.
A custom kernel ill probably flash one day but i really want to keep my Pixel Un-Rooted..
