web authentication page pop up is not appearing - Android Apps and Games

hi, I just bought my Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 a little over 2 weeks ago, and I noticed that the web authentication page does not automatically pop up when I connect to my office wifi. it used to work alright with my old phone. here are the troubleshooting steps I've done so far:
1. uninstall and install google chrome
2. used a different browser
3. checked if the notification is blocked for google chrome (which is not)
4. made sure the data is not restricted for chrome
5. allowed cookies in chrome
6. forget the office wifi and connected with other network (I tested this while I was at the airport). still no pop up
7. cleared data for chrome
I also contacted the asus service center but I was advised, after all the troubleshooting, to just do factory reset, but I'm really hoping it doesn't get to that. can someone help me please? Thank you.

Help? Particular website access issues from android phone

Hopefully I'm posting this in an ok section. I'm not sure what the issue is, and I'm trying to figure out if this is a software, hardware, provider, or website issue. I am beginning to suspect a software issue though.
I have a stock HTC M8, and as of about 2 weeks ago, I'm having issues logging in to one particular website: http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/ , but ONLY when connected through my wireless provider. The main page loads just fine, but as soon as I hit the sign in button to try to get to the signin page, it hangs for a while, then I get the message "internal error - server connection terminated" .
Here's the thing though: If I try to sign in to the page while connected to a Wifi network, it works just fine, and will continue to work properly even if I turn wifi off, until such time as the page automatically ends my session and I have to log in again. It's just that initial log in that won't work if connected to a wireless network. Also, I can't log out either unless on a wifi connection.
Here's what I tried already:
- Tried to log in using my wife's S4 (also stock rom). No good.
- Tried Chrome and Firefox browsers. Same problem.
- Contacted the website support. They say my wireless connection is too slow. Speedtest says 80Mbps down, 30Mbps up, 31ms ping. Ummm... I'm going to say this isn't the issue.
- Contacted my wireless provider (Telus). They say they haven't made any changes the last couple of weeks.
The only changes I've made recently is that I updated Android System Webview. I can't even get a handle on what the heck this app is for (Typical review: "It changed my life! My acne disappeared, and I won the lottery!")
Any ideas? I'm at a loss here....
In chrome you should check on the requeat desktop page and give it a try
Sent from my SM-G355H using XDA Free mobile app
Sadly, I've tried that as well. No go on any browser.
That's why I figured maybe it was something HTC screwed up with a recent update.
Can you access that login with any other method on your htc
Nope. WiFi only. Every other attempt to reach the login page fails. Browser doesn't matter, desktop view is no good, manual or auto login is also useless.
It simply won't load the login page.
I noticed on my desktop that it goes from whatever page you click the login button from, to a log in page, and then back to your original page once you enter your information. It's that transition to and from that login page that seems to be where the issue lies.
I must be in the website you do not need to worry as your droid is safe
Sorry, but you lost me there...
It could be thatbi lost but i dont know coz at somd times i have same problem anf it goea away by itself so i think its a site problem
I thought that originally as well, but they claim they haven't changed anything and blame my ISP, my ISP claims they haven't changed anything and blames the site...
This is why I'm wondering if it maybe has something to do with android web view or the native browser interfering with the whole system since it started about the same time as I downloaded the updates.
You wouldn't by chance know where I could find an apk for the HTC browser 2 versions ago would you? That way I could remove all updates then install that and at least verify or eliminate a possible cause.
Yes i can tell you where is the befault internet brousef app present on your device.
Download ans install es file manager.
Open it. At the top you will see sd card tap that. A mwnu will open. In that menu the first option is / device select that.
In that search for system folder. Inside that you will find many folders but inside folder app and priv_app there are syatem apk
Your brouser app will be inaide one of them.
Try searching goos lucl

Can't locate any devices with Android Device Manager

This seems to be a complicated problem so I am going to do my best to explain the issue, and how I got here.
Problem:
When I open the Android Device Manager on a web browser using my main Google account, ADM says that I have "no active devices", however I have both Nexus 6P and a Nexus 7 (2013) both running the latest Marshmallow March security update.
When I open Android Device Manager on either device, the panel that lets your select your device never finishes loading and will constantly show a loading circle.
I also have my work email (a Gmail account) on my phone, and if I sign in to Android Device Manager on my phone or the web I can locate my phone just fine, so it clearly is an issue with my Google account.
What I have tried:
Ensure location is enabled
Ensure all device administrator and Android Device Manager settings are enabled
Device is not set to "hidden" in my Google Play settings
Clear data on Google Play Services
Remove work email from phone
Factory reset
Upgrade to Android N preview
Downgrade back down to latest Marshmallow release
Another odd thing I noticed is that the new Android Beta page for enrolling in the Android N preview does not show my Nexus 6P while using my main email, however my work email does show it. I even called Google support yesterday and troubleshooted for an hour and by then end they said that they were resetting something to do with my location which should take 15-30 minutes, and they would call me back. I never got a call back, so I am avoiding calling them until I seek more help.

(6045Y) Idol 3 - Google Play Services problem

Hello, it's my first post here so be lenient if you might.
My Idol 3 5.5 came back from repair (power button not working) and they replaced motherboard in order to fix it.
Everything seemed fine until I got home, connected to WiFi and tried to use Google Play. I downloaded all updates pending and tried to use WhatsApp. It said my time and date are wrong, I tried to change it few times, nothing helped. I uninstalled WhatsApp and Messenger (since it didn't work too) and tried to reinstall them. Suddenly notification about Google Play Services update popped out so as it said I did. After the update I've been greeted with whole bunch of similar notifications informing me that none of my apps will work and I have to update Google Play Services. That's a shame I already did... Tried cleaning cache and uninstalling updates etc. Nothing helped, still unable to use apps. After a while It has shown that it can't sync with my Google account, then informed me that I need to connect to the internet in order to use Google Play (I obviously was on my WiFi and internet connection was available, switched to mobile data and same occured). I performed factory reset, the phone didn't boot fo 10 minutes showing Alcatel animation so I turned it off. I opened service menu (power + vol up) and performed wipe from there, rebooted, phone started, configured it and same thing happened - no Google Play for me. I did it one more time, carefully logging in Google Account, not rushing anything in order not to screw up. Still nothing. At this moment I'm really frustrated since I can't use my phone and I'd really not want to send it to repair one more time since it lasts 2 weeks to get it back. Any ideas on how to fix it? Web browser worked fine, sms worked, phone calls were fine. Any ideas?

Maybe give Mobile Upgrade Q a try? It will flash the latest firmware available for your device and will probably fix any software-related problem
Factory reset and then turn on automatical time syncing. Wish you good luck.

Certificate errors while browsing https internet sites

I have my Mate 9 for four weeks now and in the beginning everything was perfect.
Some day I decided to unlock the bootloader via Huawei online service. That went smooth except for the subsequent factory reset. It startet and gave an error that it was not successful. After the phone booted I went through the start wizard, into the settings and did a manual factory reset that finished successfully...
I used to use the Lightning browser to open web pages but one fine day, there may be a coincidence to the bootloader unlock but I do not remember exactly, I started to get certificate errors, even when opening xda-developers. The browser showed a message about a security problem and an invalid certificate. At some well known shopping sites too.
Interestingly enough some other sites work flawlessly like my home banking site as an example.
I have checked if the default system certificates are present (they are), made a factory reset again, also tested some different browsers:
Browsers with certificate errors
Lightning
JumpGo
Privacy Browser
working Browsers
Icecat
Firefox
Any ideas?
Does it happen on 4g and wifi?
Did you change dns for funkyhuawei use?
Yes, happens on both 4G and wifi.
I haven't used funkyhuawei yet, only glanced over the instructions.
At first I wanted to root the phone when I unlocked its bootloader but the benefit of Android 7 being rootet seems technically limited at the moment so I decided to temporarily live without. However I left the bootloader unlocked. This was with firmware 126.
The recent OTA updated my Mate 9 to MHA-L29C432B138. Somehow it managed to relock the bootloader. When I checked it today, it was locked. I did'nt touch it.
But it brought no change concerning the certificate error.
Did you check that all system credentials are enabled?try clearing user credentials certificate.
maybe wipe cache in stock recovery and do factory reset from there.
Not sure if unlocking bootloader will wipe drm keys that had any relation with this.
All system credentials are enabled. User credentials are empty.
No I have wiped cache in emui recovery and factory reset.
Only finished the setup wizard and enabled wifi.
Now I tested with Chrome browser too. I shows no error, just like Firefox and Icecat.
Lightning Browser and the others shows certificate invalid when I open xda.
Could there be a change in certificate / credential handling in Android N so that some browsers need modification to work?
Can somebody please test Lightning with "https://www.xda-developers.com" on her / his Mate 9?
Thank you so much!
If you open developer settings, there is something about chrome enabled maybe you can change it to other browsers.
I didn't tried any browser beside chrome and no problem over here.
Do you mean webview implementation - is it called like that in English? It has only one fixed option called "Chrome Stable".
I also have a system app "Android System Webview" that is deactivated.
I think there could have been a change in the webview implementation in Android N.
After more research and reading playstore feedback I have come to the conclusion, that there must have been a change in Android N in either the webview implementation and / or the way ssl certificates are dealt with.
I am using Chrome as my default browser right now. Firefox and Icecat are too clumsy.
I hope, there will be a solution to this in the near future.

Same issue here but on Honor 8, started after unlocking bootloader on Nougat.

Google Maps, Play Store and Gmail not working

Hi, I have One plus 3 with android 8.0.0
I went on holiday (10 hour zone difference)and deactivated all app connections (settings-data use-menu-data use control) except whatsapp and chrome and facebook, which only connected to the wifi in hotel.
I came back and activated all connections of apps (wifi and 4g).
All apps seem to work fine except for maps that finds the street I´m looking for, but just keeps on calculating best route.
Gmail opens emails, but doesn´t download or open the pdf or any file attached and google play store opens my apps ans similar ones on screen, but can´t seem to download any new ones to install and doesn´t search for any app I type in the search bar.
I´ve deleted all cache in recovery mode, and also tried changing the time to manual and to automatic rebooting in between (I read this somewhere), but it´s still the same.
I´ve also reset all app settings in app menu.
No idea what to do next.
Also, not sure if the trip had anything to do with this issue
Hopefully somebody can help me as I don´t really want to reset my phone.
Thanks
