I feel like Flashing a new ROM, Anyway to keep snapchat working? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

IIRC, When you have a rooted device, Snapchat refuses to work? Has that been rectified?

Snapchat only refuses to work when you have Xposed installed. At least that's my experience. So Everytime I flash a ROM I make sure to log into Snapchat BEFORE I reboot for the first time after restoring Xposed and it's modules through TiBu.

It also blocks root users from logging in now. Install snapchat and log in before rooting.

I use a Titanium Backup of the app in its logged in state and restore that to any phone with root/Xposed.

Snapchat doesnt work on my N5 running Pure Nexus all of a sudden

Title. Any ideas what might be the problem and solutions?
Are you running exposed framework or are you rooted? If so, wipe and re-install your ROM. Make sure not to root or install exposed until after you've installed Snapchat and logged in. That's how I fixed the issue.

If you are running xposed framework.. just flash the xposed uninstaller zip, reboot your device and log in your Snapchat account. And then you can just reflash xposed framework if you want to. Snapchat doesn't get blocked due root access, it just tries to prevent you to run any modules if you have xposed installed.

Snapchat working on custom roms

Hi all. I've read through a few threads here and I've followed their instructions regarding getting Snapchat working.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but i cannot get the app to work. I'm currently using the "On the edge" ROM and i have tried removing xposed framework via recovery and also unrooted however still no joy I'm afraid. Also i did try the root cloak module through xposed however that didn't work for me either [emoji20]
Any insights would be great!

Any luck? Do you have links to the instructions on how to get it working?
try to:
install stock rom
install Snapchat and login
make a backup of Snapchat (apk and data)
install the "on the edge" rom
restore the Snapchat backup
try it

Question. So I have a stock at&t s7 edge and its never been rooted. I have rooted and flash phones before so I'm not new to the game. I'm currently on APH1. Just curious if I have to go through the root process then be able to flash this through flash fire. Just want to confirm as I download this rom. Thanks

No it has no bootloader or modem it is based on the latest firmware which if you take the OTA then you would have v4 bootloader. This rom should work on any bootloader as it only flashes the system partition...

@jds3118 - just installed this and it's up and running right now with no issue.
I'm on ATT 935A with 935U PG9 Bootloader v2 and this new PI2 code. See screenshot.
I noticed on this ROM and the EchoE rom the EZ Package Disabler Pro won't work (license check is saying fails), so I am using TiBu to freeze apps.
Note to others, install does everything automatically, there is no Aroma for selecting any behaviors. The ROM will boot up with the AT&T logo and stay like that for about 15 mins (watch a tv show or something and come back; be patient, it will boot!).
android pay setup without issue. haven't been to a store yet though.

What were you running previous to this ROM? Did you flash directly over it, or did you wipe anything?
I am on rooted stock PI2 and having some issues. Wondering if I'd be okay without wiping data since it's the second firmware.

see my signature.. I'm coming from echoerom. However before that I was on 935u pg9 rooted.
This will erase system and data and then install. So you don't need to wipe.. it will not touch your external SD card either.
@jds3118
couple things i've noticed so far:
1. SuperSU prompted that the binary needed updating (2.78). I noticed that root on boot wasn't checked, so I checked that and rebooted, message went away.
2. Cannot login to snapchat. It complains when it is verifying the device. Sends you to: https://support.snapchat.com/en-US/a/failed-login
Please Note: Snapchat works best on devices running original software, and Snapchatters using a "rooted" Android device may experience issues. Rooted devices often circumvent Android security defenses and may not be compatible with Snapchat.
One other thing I am going to try over the weekend is to return to an AT&T v2 bootloader and reinstall this ROM. With the U firmware, I am not seeing any of the wifi calling, etc.
Also, your engboot mods are definitely the best I've tried so far. It would be cool if you had a flashfire zip just containing your kernel (and what other changes you make) and package that up (kind of like the v15 zip).
otherwise, this rom is pretty slick, going to give it a couple days to run apps and settle in.
thanks!

As far as Snapchat if u have Xposed installed you have uninstall Xposed and Snapchat. Then reinstall Snapchat, sign in, then you can reinstall Xposed.

Snapchat not logging in on Lineage OS

I just installed Lineage OS on my Nexus 5 and i checked via root checker my phone is not rooted. But still whenever i try to login in Snapchat it doesn't let me in. I tried many solutions like removing root access from SuperSu(when it was rooted) but still it doesn't help. So can anyone help with that?

Same issue with the note 4
It is an issue of kernel not passing "SafetyNet", which required to complete the login of Snapchat and some other applications.
Easy fix that worked for me on other ROM with same issue is,
1.) Download latest Franco Kernel (Franco Kernel currently passes SafertyNet, that's why).
2.) Backup your "Boot" partition in TWRP.
3.) Flash Franco Kernel. Then reboot.
4.) Login in your Snapchat, it should work this time around.
5.) Go back to TWRP, and use restore function to restore the previous "Boot" partition to get LineageOS kernel back.
Let me know how it goes.

Do you have Xposed installed?
If yes, this is the issue. I have read, that the only soluton is to unistall Xposed, then install Snapchat, then login normally, then download Titanium Backup and backup the app, then reinstall xposed and use the backup to get yourself logged in.
Because this was too bothersome for me, I just installed CASPER, which is an alternative client for Snapchat, just make sure not to save too many snaps, you could get banned for that (I also read somewhere), in fact disable auto downloading snaps in the settings.

thanks for answering but i already found a solution.. you can check in other comment.
Franco kernel worked for me on my Nexus 5.
If you get logged out of Snapchat, the process must be repeated.
Curiously, my Nexus 7 can log on to Snapchat with the lineage kernel from lineage-14.1-20170228-nightly-flo-signed.zip ROM, no Franco kernel required.

Snapchat and rooted phones?

Snapchat doesn't work with rootcloak and rooted phones anymore.
Does anyone know how to get snapchat working with a rooted phone. I have already tried removing XDA Framework and using rootcloack and it didn't.
I refuse to remove root.

Hello and welcome to xda-assist,
we actually don't do technical support, we're here to guide you to the most suitable board on xda
So and ask here again
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
I don't use snapchat myself but know from other people that it's working on rooted devices when
A) you install snapchat and login on a unrooted device and then apply root, it seems to work fine when you root a device when snapchat is already running
OR
B) use magisk su, you can download magisk manager from Playstore and depending on your set-up you can flash the necessary files from within the app or flash a zip from recovery in addition to the app from Playstore, magisk has a hide option and is able to make rooted devices pass safetynet, therfore snapchat is working, see here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/mod-magisk-v1-universal-systemless-t3432382
