Honor 8 FRD-L09 not support 4G+ - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi
why Honor 8 FRD-L09 not support 4G+ or 4GA or LTE+ ?
How is it possible that this model does not support.

Honor 8 FRD-L09 support LTE Cat.6 - 300 Mbit/s = LTE-A

@poriyakey
Yes, support it, but it depends in which country.
Example:
in Italy we have 4G Plus with: 800 MHz + 2600 MHz or 800 + 1800 etc. So, with two different band combined. Name: Inter-Band
Honor 8 dosen't support this method (actually also supports inter-band but not with the bands used in my country). H8 support Intra-Band.

do you mean carrier aggregation?

In Spain, it works and there is an icon on statusbar

4G Plus in Spain, for Orange: 1800 MHz (10MHz of spectrum) + 2600 MHz (20MHz of spectrum) & there are several users (even in France) who have complained that the European Frequencies (800/1800/2600 for 4G) does not work on 4G plus.
Because from "us" we use the aggregation of two different bands, the earlier mentioned, which are not aggregated by Honor 8.
Idem in Italy...two phones, same operator, same underwritten offering.
One goes 4G Plus and Honor 8 does not go into 4G Plus.
But, of course, I hope to be in error.

I've never seem 4g+ on my device but I have a screenshot that comes from a telegram Spain Honor 8 users and using Vodafone is possible but maybe it's a mistake showing the real speed..
FORGET IT , it was not a HONOR 8, sorry.
In fact ,my carrier (vodafone) has 4g+ and I don't have this service in Madrid city center so , yes, there is no 4G+ for Honor 8.

here, in fact ...

I called the service center of Huawei in Iran
And said this model not support. 4G+

There is no way?

Same issue here...
I just arrived in San Francisco and what a bad surprise to see this model does not work with LTE...
I cannot use the internet prepaid sim card I bought!!!
I confirm that the FRD-L09 honor 8 huawei does not work in the USA on any carriers...
Just arrived in San Francisco and I'm stuck.
It's not what I thought when buying that phone. I'm strongly disappointed.

What! You are in Iran that means you are using the Middle Eastern and African variant. I am in Saudi Arabia that means i am using the same model of the phone. But how am i getting 4G everywhere!?
Have you checked your operator? Maybe they don't support 4G :/

LTE Bands for International Version

I've been trying to find the LTE bands for the International/European version of the S6/edge for a couple weeks now but have had no luck with any sites I trust. I was able to come across this site: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&...g925f_galaxy_s6_edge_lte-a_128gb_samsung_zero
Does anyone know how accurate this site is or know of where I might be able to find trustworthy specs?
Also interested in this. I might get an international version, but want to know if it will work here on the US on the AT&T network
Sent from my SM-G900T
Interested as well, if the international version supports ATT Lte that would be awesome

It means the phone(s) should work on both AT&T and T-Mobile. AT&T uses bands 2, 4, and 17. T-Mobile uses 2, 4, and 12. The International version supposedly supports 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 18, 19, 20, 26.

Where there are cell towers that are broadcasting using bands 12 or 17, you will not be able to get LTE coverage, but you will be able to get coverages for towers broadcasting on bands 2 and 4. Your real world coverage will depend on where you live and how each carrier has decided to configure their networks, but you will be able to have LTE for both.
[edit] Both 12 and 17 are 700mhz frequencies, which means that indoor coverage will not be as good if you don't have those frequencies. So that's a trade-off you might want to think about before going with the International version. Though for the most part, many people will have access to a wi-fi network while at work and at home, which I assume would be where most people would be for most of their day.
From what I've been reading, WiFi calling/texting features only work if you buy a T-Mobile specific device. Any other phones used on T-Mobile won't work with WiFi calling/texting features. That alone is the reason I would not buy an international phone and use it on T-Mobile.

Hi guys,
I have noticed that the verison I can purchase in France is the SM-G920FZ-02. Is it the same thing as the SM-G920F ?
I am unable to find the LTE bands for this version...
If it is not the case, I guess i could just get the SM-G920F from another country ? I've seen it on the UK version of the Samsung website.
I'm travelling a lot between Europe and the US so it's one of my main concerns but apparently Samsung doesn't give too much information on this yet!
FCC filing show the international model will support LTE band 2, 4, 12 among others: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...ame=N&application_id=794688&fcc_id=A3LSMG920F
Based on the info so far in this thread , it would seem like a safe conclusion that the 920F international version would indeed work fine on the AT&T LTE network
So does it support 12 and 17?? I'd be interested in getting the international for ATT. Just not sure what will and won't work

Band 17 is a subband of 12 (12 is the larger scope that includes 17 in it). The S6 920F support band 12 so it should work on AT&T just fine.
Bands 4 and 2 which are also used by AT&T are also supported according to the FCC documents so i assume the international model 920F should work just fine.
I can't be sure the same about other 920X models out there.
Does anyone know the difference between the 920F and the 9200?

Samsung I9200 is the Galaxy Mega. Is that what you're referring to?
I realised that there are commonly 2 available international versions, SM-920F (European?) and SM-920I (Rest of the world?). Wondering if anyone has the LTE specifications for the SM-920I version?
Edit (4 April): Found the answer to my own question at the Singapore Samsung website (under Specifications). So LTE Bands 1,2,3,5,7,8,12,17,18,19,26,28. No Band 4 though. I'm guessing that would greatly degrade the LTE experience with AT&T and T-Mobile?
4G+ LTE Cat 6 up to 300Mbps, VoLTE, 4G+ LTE FDD [Band 1 (2100MHz)/ Band 2 (1900MHz)/ Band 3 (1800MHz)/ Band 5 (850MHz)/ Band 7 (2600MHz)/ Band 8 (900MHz)/ Band 12 (700MHz)/ Band 17 (700MHz)/ Band 18 (800MHz)/ Band 19 (800MHz)/ Band 26 (800MHz) Band 28 (700MHz)], 4G+ LTE TDD [Band 40 (2300MHz)]

Edit (8 April): Interestingly, the Australian Samsung website for the same model (SM-G920I) shows that Band 4 is supported. I'm totally confused now as to whether this particular model supports LTE Band 4.

[dismiss] Those considering Dual-Sim H990DS better get H990N if you're in USA

Those considering to use the LG V20 Dual Sim in the US should pick the H990N instead the H990DS because is the only Dual-Sim version to support AT&T's LTE bands 17, and Sprints band 26, notwithstanding the DS is faster and both version support T-Mobile bands, those looking to use the 2nd sim as carrier backup service likely will pick AT&T or Sprint as secondary or main line.
The original post was based on information available from 3rd about H990DS and H990N, none indicated the N990DS to support LTE B17, while some users reported it actually support that band, information confirmed from LG's Taiwan site confirms LG V20 N990DS actually supports LTE B17, accordingly this post is unfounded and moot.
Moderators, please close thread.

Hate to burst your bubble but you are incorrect. I have the DS with both tmo and att. Grtting band 17 just fine.
According to both these sources H990DS is missing band 17. H990N seems perfect for me, it has band 17 (in addition for 2&4 for AT&T), also has band 1 that the US996 is missing which I need for the occasional visit to Japan.

Seems the H990N the best deal for Travelers.
According to LG's Taiwan website, the H990DS supports bands 1 and 17 but not 26. It's highly unlikely LG would release a phone in Taiwan that didn't work in Japan. I can read Chinese by the way.
Most if not all android phones will work in japan, 4G is not always suitable, but 3G 2100 is available and japan supports it.
LTE B17 is ONLY OPTION IN: BAHAMAS, CAYMAN IS, ANGUILLA, and JAMAICA. or 3G
Others Networks using B17 are in markets where you have at least one alternative (available on both V20s) as USA (AT&T) where you can go on T-MO where no AT&T B17.
LTE B26 only user yet is Sprint (acc Wikipedia) also only in few areas, where you also have alternatives from other networks.

Thanks for posting the TW site. Im really happy if the H990DS supports band 17 according to the site. Not sure if all other sites are quoting frequency check, as every other site I googled quoted H990DS specs as without band 17.

Enter Engineering mode:
On my V10 H960A, code is *#546368#*960# (Not sure if this is the right code for V20, may need to replace 960 with 990)

You should be in the "LTE information" page. It should show what LTE band you're connected to. If anyone can verify and post a screenshot and band 17 I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to change Bands (LTE & 5G) on SM-N9860 For Rogers Wireless in Canada?

Is it possible to change Bands (LTE & 5G) on SM-N9860 For Rogers Wireless in Canada?
I had a thought:
Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G Dual Sim (SM-N9860, Snapdragon) 12GB Ram 512GB has the following LTE & 5G Bands:
4G FDD-LTE:
B1(2100),B2(1900),B3(1800),B4(AWS),B5(850),B7(2600),B8(900),B12(700),B13(700), B18(800),B19(800),B20(800),B25(1900),B26(850),B28(700)
4G TDD-LTE:
B34(2010),B38(2600),B39(1900),B40(2300),B41(2500)
5G Sub-6 FDD:
N1(2100) / 5G Sub-6 TDD: N78(3500),N79(4500)
Now, I am with Rogers, which requires the following bands:
LTE Bands:
700 MHz Lower A/B/C: 12/17/13
850 MHz CLR: 5
1700/2100 MHz AWS: 4
2600 MHz IMT-E: 7
1900 MHz PCS: 2
While SM-N9860 supports all but one - Band 17 LTE bands - the phone should work almost flawlessly with Rogers in terms of LTE. However, when it comes to 5G, it is a complete different story.
5G Bands:
2600 MHz IMT-E: n38
600 MHz DD n71
The Canadian (similar to the US) variant of Note 20 Ultra 5G supports the following band:
LTE Bands:
B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B17, B18, B19, B20, B25, B29, B30, B66, B71
5G Bands:
n41, n66, n71
Questions:
1. Since both are based on the Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865+, is there a way to change the LTE & 5G bands?
2. Is it hard-coded into the firmware of the 5G modem that is incorporated with the Snapdragon 865+, which makes it impossible?
3. Does that fact that SM-N9860 has a unlocked bootloader and it is rootable, would this help change the bands or matters of the bootloader / root does not have anything to do with the frequencies / bands?
4. If the matters pertaining to unlocked bootloader/rootable , should this question be asked in the thread that Dr. Ketan discusses, with regards to the rooting process?
5. Only reason that I ask for all this is: recalling from memory from earlier days of Note(s) 1 thru 4 - rooting, installing custom rom (thru odin), etc. - I remember coming across a "modem" specific file that gets flashed by odin. Is that still true these days with the newer Note models or it is different?
6. I understand that Qualcomm supplies the specific modem chipset, with regards to 5G - would any of their development tools supplied by Qualcomm can help with changing the bands?
Thanks, just wanted to know.
Thanks.
It seems no one has replied.
Is it really that hard to change the LTE & 5G bands on the SM-N9860 model, given that it uses the Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865+ chipset (which I am presuming it has the 5G embedded modem)?

Years ago we used to be able to play around with enabling bands using something called QPST ( i think, its been awhile) but i have no idea if it will work on new devices.
Id suggest tailoring your search to that and see what state its in.

Yes because you have N9860 Hong Kong variant.
These are the bands available for sm_n986u1
You pick the lte bands that you want to use... Att/tmoble may have to check the gsm bands for calls.

Depends on carrier... But I want to say it's the n261 and 260 and anything above 28... I could be wrong... I'm not in a 5g area... But I checked the vZw bands... Idk for other carriers
I think Rogers, Telus and Bell are all using band 66 for their 5G.

Question 5G Support in the USA?

Does anyone know if any USA based wireless services support 5G on the 12S Ultra?

I am still waiting for my 12s ultra to come, but I am suspecting the same as my mi 11 ultra. Xiaomi.eu rom will remove 5g restrictions so I get 5G on it, however it is not t-mobiles 5G UC which is much faster than the 5G NSA

The missing bands are not due to the software but to the hardware (modem).
The Xiaomi eu roms remove 5GHz(wifi) region restrictions not 5G.
For phones for the global market with their equivalent in China, if you flash the global rom on the Chinese version the missing bands will still be missing and if you do the opposite you will have the same bands as on the global version.

Update, Well I got excited today for about 5 minutes. I tried a PureTalk sim in my 12S and bang it showed a 5G connection. PureTalk in the USA is a MVNO for ATT. ATT shows 3 5G bands that are supported on the 12S.
Unfortunately I ran a few speed tests and was only getting about 50-60mbs download speed ugh... Worse speeds then I was getting with T-Mobile LTE...

PureTalk use N5 (850MHz), N77 (3.7GHz),N260 (39GHz) but you were surely on a N5 which emit far enough unlike the others.

So being on N5 does that explain the slower speeds ? Is there anyway to tell which band I am connected to?

The N5 is far-reaching but does not offer higher throughput than 4g or 4g+.
You will find on the play store (I don't remember the name).
In France the B700 5g +/- 60mbs, 4g +/- 120mbs ,5G 3500 +/- 300mbs****
****Provided you are less than 1km from the antenna.
Note that MVNO often provide the least.
5G 3,5 GHz

So for another test I took out the Puretalk sim and put it in my iPhone 13Pro, and what do you know triple the DL speed on 5G then on the 12s. So I would assume that the iPhone supports more 5g frequencies then the 12s?

Thanks that's what I thought. Oh well so much for "true" 5g support in the USA... Kind of bummed about this. I finally unlocked my 12s installed the .eu rom which at least for me transforms the phone into something quite usable now. i.e Android Auto, much better integration with google services... Basically just works now..
forgot to ask in the USA which 4G carries would have the best service / speed

only LTE in USA on google fi (which uses t-mobile) but download speed seems twice as fast as i was getting on the mi 11 ultra, i usually get about 600/50 on devices with 5G in my area. I really don't have a need for that much speed on my phones.

Question USA Set S22Ultra NO 4g in Malaysia

Hi , i bought a USA set S22Ultra in Malaysia, while i understand 5g wont work here, i didnt expect i dont have 4g access too. In phone setting, 'mobile network' there is only 'LTE/3G/2g' option and no 4g. I am using SM-S908U1 csc:ATC . Can anyone let me know if there is a fix? thank you so much .

LTE is 4G,so, if you're seeing LTE in your status bar, you're likely getting 4G on your phone?
Have you tried a speed test?
Speedtest by Ookla - Apps on Google Play

Or, just use Google's Speedtest, just Google search "Internet Speed Test" (will likely show lower scores than OOKLA'S Speedtest) :

Please report your findings, hope everything is OK.

If you bought this as a new phone & it was/is an unlocked USA model, it probably had XAA firmware.
Which 4G & 5G Bands does your carrier use?

i think it came with SM-s908U firmware , now i have flashed it with sm-s908U1 firmware (not sure am i suppose to do that too) , i have tried css:ATC and css:XAA , nothing much has changed.
My carrier 4g bands are
1 (2100 MHz)
3 (1800 MHz)
7 (2600 MHz)
5g is very limited here so i will concentrate in 4g solution for now

I'm stumped as to why your speeds are slow, they're all covered with the hardware & the XAA firmware should work.
