Cannot apply any themes. - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Anyone else have this issue with the U.S. version? I downloaded some of the themes and put them in the right folder (HWThemes) but whenever I try to apply one, nothing happens. I even tried using the EMUI Theme Editor and nothing changes. All I have done was root and install TWRP. That's it. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
EDIT: Yes I am on EMUI 5.

Unlocking bootloader and root for mate 9 are breaking lot of things, maybe flash hw_data in twrp to fix themes issue.

I can change the background, but that's about it.. Apply Theme does nothing.. and I have the middle eastern version -- rooted yesterday

can't change lockscreen type and wallpaper L29C432B320

Hi,
after going back from pre-rooted international B320 to rooted stock L29C432B320 I have the problem, that the phone doesn't change the lockscreen type to magazine. No matter what I choose in settings/lockscreen & passwords it won't apply.
Same if I try to set a different wallpaper for lockscreen, it won't apply...
I've read already some older threads about flashing userdata.img, but I don't know if I can flash userdata.img from an old firmware B1xx on my B320?
Thank you very much in advance for your help....

Yes rooted phones will not get updated
So the correct procedure would be to unroot, relock bootloader, flash B136 with dload method, then update to Nougat? Or can I skip manually relocking bootloader, as it should be done by flashing stock rom and recovery?

Confirmed on my EVA-L09 in France. Seems to be european at least.
It's the official one. I wasn't in beta at all.

Nothing on my P9. Still on EVA-L09C432B182. HiCare doesn't find update, Updater is telling me that I'm on the newest software...
Does anyone have update.zip file? ^^
No root, locked bl... everything stock
You could try the following. Download both files and copy it to: internal Storage\HwOUC\71496. This is the location where the EMUI Updater App stores the files. Maybe it's possible to start the upgrade when both files are in the correct location. Haven't tried it myself, so proceed at your own risk.

Looking forward to the progress! I'm in the same situation
I just got the B360 Update via HiCare App without being a beta participant, so I just update it. I can't test my own idea.
€dit: after the download is finished there are just the linked two files inside the folder. So it SHOULD work without any problems. I'm on B360 now.

Anyone have a link for an decrpted boot image for the new ota update.? also can somebody merge all the different ways and do and don'ts for this build to be able to unlock (have the code) and flash TWRP and root this device. so many different solutions confusing on the best method to use. Try reinstalling them?
Or do you mean notifications on lockscreen? Because they won't show.
Huawei locked it down good. (at least for me, can't even get Spotify to show current song)
Floatify works great for lockscreen notifications though.
Edit: Actually, more people seem to have notification bugs with Messenger and WhatsApp. Maybe it's just a Huawei thing?
Or did they work before rooting?
Could you also check that they're not being closed automatically by the super aggressive battery saver thingie?
Settings - Battery: check that Power Saving is not turned on.
Next click on the cogwheel in the battery screen and make sure "Close excessively power-intensive apps" is not turned on.
And check in Settings - Apps - [App you want to check] - Battery that "Close after screen locked" is not turned on.

And if you're running TWRP 3.1 just flash the zips from there. First the update.zip, then the hw_eu one, and then flash supersu for root. https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/root-supersu-2-81-emui-5-t3612258

This method don't require twrp or root, this is the same process of the original ota upgrade application, but in manual mode.

Can someone explain me, why is there this kind of update published, non flashable one? internal testing purpose?
Is there a way to update my phone to b389, b388 or other, more than b381, with or without root, even if I have to factory reset my phone, reinstall stock recovery?
You just have to try reading. This topic here and more ...
