[CLOSED] SailfishOS is comming to pico! - HTC Pico (Explorer)

MAKE PICO GREAT AGAIN
Hello everybody I'll port Sailfishos to pico I'll post here every information about progress. It will use SD Card since there is very low space on the /data partition. It'll be based on cm11 which will be installed to the internal /system not sdcard. I think it will be alot faster than android i think, and will be usable in 2017. If you are not planning using it as daily phone you can still play with it check out how sfos is running on it
Anybody interested in?

I'm struggling with building cm12.1 by now (sources are outdated) :/
Hmmm it will not be easy as i thought. By now it's completly not working :/

Im interesting.

It will be very hard to get it working. By now it's crashing in very, very early stage :/

No problem bro , if you cant make this rom you can try another rom to make

Good luck

Lol, cool.
Though, putting aside that maybe you should stick with cm11 as base (fewer bugs), I think the biggest worry for now should just get sources to sync and compile after 3 years of staling.
And that would be already something remarkable and appreciated on its own, I guess.

Yeah building cm is impossible for me but building sfos is o problem both cm12.1 and cm11 was sucessful (and bith not working). I'll stick with cm12.1 fo no reason (cm11 have modified frameworks_av and other repos that are provided from sfos so i have to use sfos ones so dunno how it would work). First i need to get it booting (already hwve some ideas) and then i'll try to get gui
ps: expect tons of not working things lol
ps2: i'm using cm12.1 kernel which is overclocked by default so maybe i'll set max to 800MHz permamently
ps3: whoa guys you are more interested in it than people from my moto x force port. i thought this device was already dead (porting is dead)

Let's say my interest is purely academic, but still.
And then, who knows? Maybe SFOS could even have a lower memory footprint.
Said this, just two things:
1) guess like cm11 might be less neat on mer's side, but at least on this phone it's the most that still makes video decoding (and encoding) work tbh.
2) HADK docs says salfish uses libhybris which in turn by default bases on CM. If first you don't get it to boot, I can hardly see how all the rest of the chain could be meaningful.

Well nobody (including me) have ida why lipstick (gui) is crashing so i cannot do much abot that but i'm trying to remder lipstick using surfaceflinger (android's display manager/gui). If that will not work then i'll have to wait until somebody gets idea how to fix that

Guys good news! I almost got ui! Just setup wizard is crashing (again dunno why) so you can't really do anything. But i could choose language (it's pre wizard setup) so if i only fix setup wizard then it will work! Performance isn't as great as i thought but maybe 800MHz OC will fix that (gui is just 0.5 second slow and like 5 fps). Maybe it's just because it isn't set up properly and a lot of things working badly. Ah and i think you guys already don't suspect full functionality At least not just yet

[DEV] CyanogenMod 6.1 Port - lots of bugs

Hi folks,
I'm working on the initial build of my CM port on P500.
I'm at pre-pre-pre (xD)-alpha stage, so the rom is full of bugs until now.
I'll write here my progress, but I won't upload this rom until bugs are just a few.
Code:
. Pre-pre(etc)-Alpha build 0.001b .
-Succesfully booted
-Found Baseband not working, so no phonecall service at all
-Cell doesn't recognize sdcard
-Camera fc at starting
-Haptic feedback ok
-Needs lots of fixes for too laggish system -> lil less laggy
-wifi fixed -> lol
-cyanogenmod settings full working
So things to be fixed:
1)baseband
2)sd card
3)camera
4)lag
5)wifi DONE
Look at this thread for updates ^^
Even I got it booting, just grab CM's for legend and tune it up a bit.
I didn't have the patience for the rest.
Anyhow, congratulations for taking up this project, I hope someone will come and help you with it.
I would if I had the time but exams are coming!
I wish you good luck, I really do.
I'll come to check the thread every now and then.
Good luck with it all! I would help out, but my spare time is working on getting Gingerbread over... though maybe if cyanogen gets 2.3 built well enough into his, we can just port that over.
We'll see, till then, Happy Holidays!
If you get it working I will happily donate 50 bucks .....

Yeah, you're correct I suppose =)
With tweaking it can be made to work on Optimus S.
If it were easy, we would already have ThundeROM for P500 models. >.<
If anybody is interested in Fastboot though... start toying with ThundeROM for S series combined with the custom kernel for ours. I'm still waiting on permission from the authors to post how I got as far as I did with it (gotta love happy accidents).
Again, Good luck man! Imma poke around with Gingerbread a bit more before I pass out...
i agree with noejn. just port CM for legend. Legend and OO have similar processors. And we can get the Flash lite from legend too!
Good luck with your project.

Sorry but Magic and Legend have different processors.
Magic has a MSM7201A or MSM7200A, Legend and Optimus One (at least mine) have MSM7227.
Just start working on CM Legend as base; it's how I got it working here.
Well done!

[ROM][July 20][WIP] MIUI Android Desire S

I'm new to this but here we go This is a port of the Desire HD Miui rom 1.7.15 with english patch. I'm using parts of superkids excellent Cyanogen rom to fix the hardware issues. It's a work in progress so don't get upset if things don't work.
So far from my testing these things work (your mileage may vary):
Camera (face camera not quite yet but main camera works nicely)
WIFI
GPS
Phone
Audio
Volume Keys
etc.
Not working:
Bluetooth
Sim contacts
Video playback
probably other stuff too
Installation instructions
Full wipe, install from recovery and then flash the excellent Unity V2 kernel from here. If overclocking is your thing, I use setcpu set to 245760 min, 1209600 max with smartass scaling.
The default kernel included won't enable WIFI so if you want it, flash the Unity kernel.
Try it out and see what you think. I'll try to look at fixing things as and when i get to them but bluetooth isn't going to be high on my priority list as I don't use it (but you're welcome to pull the rom apart and give it a whirl yourself!) I don't have a lot of time so if you want to try fixing things, please do as we'll all benefit

wifi can be worked if using MDJ V2 kernel
How about battery cost?
Can the phone sleep correctly?
Now all the MIUI roms have a battery drain because the phone sleeps incorrectly.
Is camera quailty good?
Edit : I looked in the forum for the MDJ v2 kernel couldn't find it can you post a link please

Thanks for letting us know. I was concerned that you might try this one and be unhappy with it. On a more serious note, this kind of post does not help anyone! Did you even download this rom to try it or are you just informing us that you won't be happy until a 100% working Miui rom falls into your lap. We'd all love a perfectly working Miui rom but it won't happen overnight!
You're in a development forum, by it's very nature, you're not going to ever see many 100% working roms, hence the development in the forum name.

@belantara
you need to understand that the devs are doing this in their free time & are not asking for anything in return other than a little support
so if you have a negative comment why do you want to post it & discourage them??it isnt always easy finding the bugs & correcting them
Great
I find it great that there is a seperate thread for miui development now. Due to the fact that all the other miui roms are developed on extern sites.
I hope that more developers will start helping here.
I am not sure but why aren't working let's say miui-developers together to make a more stable, faster, and more complete rom. I meen we are a community here. Nobody has to fight against the others.
I've seen it for a long time in the HTC Hero forums, that developers try to beat each other instead of working together to make something great.
Like i can see here it's the same, yes sure it's difficult that someone works together with the chinese developers but it would be possilbe to work together with the guy from the english miui forum, who made a great version too?
After that it would be possilbe to ask some devs from other roms for help. i am sure no one will say oh no i fight this rom-war on my own. stop asking for help.
In fact the main idea of forums was the easy way to exchange information between persons from different countries, even with different languages. So they can work together and so they will be able to make better things. Like you can see it over at stackoverflow, someone has a question the other will help him.
why so much devs forget this fact?
--------------------
Oh and i am happy to see someone who tries his luck with cooking a rom
--------------------
If i had more time and some idea of cooking roms i would help you, but i think with my java knowledge i can't help that much.
Keep up your work it's great.
If anyone wants a detailed process of how to go about porting one rom from another I'd be happy to post it in here so more people can get on board and experimenting. My android hacking experience isn't great but I'm learning as I go (I have many years of linux experience which helps immensely). superkids work on the cyanogenmod rom is the reason I was able to bring a somewhat working Miui rom to the forum so big slaps on the back to him
I'll keep nibbling away at the issues and see what I can do but if anyone else wants to get involved, I'd be overjoyed. The more the merrier
Also, I've been in touch with superkid and he's happy with elements of his cyanogenmod rom being used to make Miui work. I've also been in contact with fusingblackrose on the Miuiandroid forums and his rom was my first port of call when starting off on this port so it's all good
I'm on this rom since yesterday night, what I can say for now is that it's a lil' bit slower than the 7.1.8 from fengbao wich I used for about a week.
I did not test the GPS yet, but there is an improvement in compatibility since the last release : the softkeys are now backlighted correctly.
I think all the issues we have are only about drivers, I am totally new at Android (only since AlpharevX release for Desire S) but as I'm intereested on it, I already know a lot about it, made tweaks and tested many roms, learned about the way it works in the inside.
I'd really appreciate you to post the process you are talking about, I still don't know how to edit roms, compile it and package it for a flash from recovery.
I'm sure I can help

What works:
- Boot
- Touchscreen
- Sound
What doesn't work:
everything else
Issues:
RIL: https://github.com/M1cha/B2G/issues/1
WiFi: https://github.com/M1cha/B2G/issues/2
Download:

Changelog:
12/09/09: initial release
Installation:
- copy zip to sdcard
- wipe data and cache
- install zip
Note1: You should use this in Multiboot. I never tested as real system and it makes no sense in actual status.
Note2: First boot takes longer, because data-partition will be build. After wipe data&cache system still works because he rebuilts the data-partition.

Interesting stuff
Can someone explain it a bit further? This isn't based on Android at all? And what are (will be) the advantages/disadvantages over it?

This is based on HTML 5 and it's supposed to be a even cheaper alternative to android and other OS's
.... There are plans for phones to be coming out next year I think in the US, also they say they can port 75% or more android and IOS apps as they are made in HTML5.... search up for more info. Also there is another OS called Tizen coming next year aswell I think but it's based on android.
man you are a genius. never expected this on defy. its like dream come true as i always wanted firefox os on my mobile
B2G is based on Android, but completely deleted the java/dalvik-stuff.
They are using their own native daemon and all apps are written in HTML5.

I kinda started falling behind on tech stuff when the tech magazines prices jumped over my head :/
Okay, so it's cheaper, that is a great plus. How about performance? Anyone tested already? Will do it tomorrow morning after the exam anyway
Mika, will it be possible to make it feature complete? I know it's a bit too early too ask, but just wondering if there are some already known kernel issues or something like that in the way?
*EDIT* Damn... Just noticed that there's no downloads to try just yet

Nice work man.
At the moment, its still on a better stage than the first ICS boot by Epsylon3.
Amazing! I never thought we will see this! a beta of a beta, betaception (? and about the screens, yes, the demo running on a SGSII looked WAY better than this, but dunno why they changed it.
Next step: web Os!!!! :victory:
edit: a video running B2G as a POC will be nice, if thats not too much to ask for
I found the github of the SGS2-B2G which seems to be of the leed UI-designer of that project.
It seems these changes just aren't published to mozilla's github.
I will build again with the new sources and if everything works I'll publish the first build.
Boot to gecko is diffrent from the latest SS-s from Mozilla

i think based on other similar devices, its down to the very kind devs (fluffy) on these forums to make them usable for us... without them dedicating their free time to fix what wrong in these roms we are frankly wasting our money.
ive recently started looking at rom development for chinese clones, and stripping them down to try an understand how they work, or don't in most cases... i'm finding it very interesting to say the least, they all seem to follow the same malfunctions that don't seem to work properly i.e google play services are not injected into the roms properly and this is a common theme...
still reading and learning, but enjoying it to... the hours fly by..
thanks

Sounds interesting and yeah im so greatful to devs like fluffy, Fluffy's ROM for the S4 Replica made my device so much better but i dont stay with one phone for more than 6 months haha so im onto this Note 3 now and i must learn more although its a great phone, great screen, there are a few problems with it, Like Smart Scroll which is claimed to work on this one, my SPen dont work at all, and i forget the name of this one but where you wave slightly in front of the sensors and a menu comes up, that does not work either. Although its a great phone i wish i could do more but for £130, Im happy

Where did you buy it from? There are so many variations of the note 3 clone
I'm ready for a change, my meso s4 has been great since console4ever fixed it.
Thanks

New HDC Galaxys Note 3 N9006 MT6582 clone
hello i'm new here. been lurking for sometime now in the forums. i just want to ask if this application can be used in HDC Note 3 clone MT6582, i already installed the PenWindowManager_v1.apk on my phone + tried Pen_Window_Launcher. the window manager seem to launch fine but the pen window lauches also but all i get is the icon of it. how can i get it to work? thanks a bunch for reply. i hope some nice apps from the Original Note 3 can be ported in the clone! thanks again.
Hi everyone, i really NEED your help:
I have the hdc note 3 n9006 with mt6582, and i tried to flash a rom (this one http://www.needrom.com/mobile/hdc-galaxy-note-3-n9006/ )
but i got this error in flashtool: error S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)
when i tried to switch it on, nothing happens, and i cant enter recovery, however windows recognizes the mobile.
tried to flash several roms, but i end up with that error
that error is a common one, but i havent seen a solution for my mobile, thanks for helping!!!!!!

Kernel Development

Development has begun! Find the new thread here!
Hey P9 users,
I see that you guys don't have much development going for you guys. How would y'all like it if I cooked up a kernel? Things I will need:
Patience because I don't have the device:
I will not add anything that could possibly brick your phone. All of my kernels are not like most that you see out there in the forums. It's more of an optimized kernel rather than a custom kernel.
Testers (follows suite with not actually having the device):
Self explanatory from above. There shouldn't be any problems, but if one does arise, I will need logs.
Hype and honesty:
Just kidding about the hype part, but the second part is what is really important. If you feel no difference after flashing the kernel, then let me know! I'd much rather you guys tell me it sucks instead of riding a bandwagon.
i would be pleased to test a optimized kernel!

Alrighty, got something fresh out the oven. Doesn't have much changed, except for the fact that it's compiled with Linaro 4.9 and has a lot of compiler optimizations. If this boots and runs fine, I will create a development thread.

If it does not boot, flash the stock kernel image or @paulobrien's updated kernel
Installation is the same as any other kernel:

You now have a new boot image (abyss-caf-huawei-p9-nightly-20160822.img). All that's left is to flash it to your device! Reboot to bootloader (either using 'adb reboot bootloader' or by powering on with volume down held).
Flash using 'fastboot flash boot abyss-caf-huawei-p9-nightly-20160822.img'
Then reboot using 'fastboot reboot'. Job done! In the About screen of settings you should see the date of the abyss-caf kernel and details of your my build machine.

Lovely, let's get stuff going! Would love to see more active development for the P9 (which agreed really are quite stagnant).
I working on something too, but it takes too much time.

Yes! Such a great device with little development is quite a shame.

Have to agree. It took a lot longer for me to set up this kernel for building. Very interesting, but I've got it under my control
I just need to know if this boots. If it does, I will start to overhaul it with more advanced changes
Care to tease us with some of your more Advanced stuff?
the problem is, what works with biglittle and what not. some snapdragon optimizing is not same as kirin. Im still in contact with zz for zzmove.
Maybe its easy to test and give u logcat?
Ty for taking your time, i really hope more developers will come. Im waiting on Cyanogenmod and a good kernel i hope yours will turn out great.
I miss having my HTC One X with root but for now i live with a stock huawei experience with Nova launcher and theme and i disabled many things with debloater.
I wish more developers would get their hands on it since the phone is cheap, i bought it for 2300kr = 275 dollars here in Denmark, and for 275 dollars you get a lot.

Depends what people are looking for . I am limited and slowed because I don't own the device, but it is possible to add hotplugs and governors easily. Features like KCAL control, double tap to wake, etc. can eventually be implemented with the help of you guys and logs.

Whether it is Kirin or Qualcomm really does not affect the what can go into the kernel as much as it would affect ROM optimizing. Certain CAF kernel patches that are supposedly specific for Snapdragon devices can also be implemented into kernels for other devices as well. The Snapdragon 652 is the closest non-kirin relative to Kirin 955, so porting patches from a 652 kernel would be best.

It is a hard device to get in North America. I think the Honor 8 is the first one to break grounds over here in the states (Canada is even more limited than the US so not even sure if I can find one here).
I think whole community would be thankful even for this topic. This is a fairly new device and would be lovely to see some development for it...

I'm hoping to break the ice in terms of development, but I really need someone to test what I posted earlier before I can continue :silly:. I need to know if it boots so I know i'm on the right track.

I think that is the easy part. Since the q&a part is the skipped part among other parts, it would be easier to find once you post in the development section
If I wouldn't buy the phone TODAY (yes I bought it today ) I would be gladly test it out but it is like a principle for me that I use the phone as it is for a couple of months.

That's a very good principle that I USE to have as well ! Enjoy your device while it still feels foreign to you! I hate how after I use the phone for a couple of months it feels old to me.
My current principle is to make sure things are stable before I post in development, so I will wait until I have confirmation that this boots first :fingers-crossed:

It's my first phone with 2.5 D display and it is blazing fast right now However I am addicted to flashing things and I am afraid I will touch my phone's virginity with this old addiction I will hold on to that principle as long as I can
However, it breaks my heart when I have a look to development section since ,as I told before, my rom addiction. I believe it can be (I mean your kernel) a little push for other developers to cook some roms
And for the last, It would be beyond perfect if you could port stockish android like CM or other roms

I will definitely need the device in order to build any AOSP roms, it's a nightmare without it. Also, I am a Linux developer (C based), and have limited knowledge in device tree bring up.
