How to fix "Searching for Service" after root Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
I had my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge for a week before I decided to root it.
I downloded ODIN-modified, Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT, fastboot zip and SuperSU-v2.74-2-S7QC zip.
Using ODIN-modified I mounted the AP as Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT, and hit start.
I then factory reset my phone, reenabled usb debugging, and extracted fastboot zip and SuperSU-v2.74-2-S7QC zip in the same fastboot folder. Using CMD I ran the commands, which completed the root process on my phone. For a week I thought everything was running perfectly. However, I just noticed that whenever my phone screen is off, and it is locked, it shows "Searching for Service", and my friends and family have been complaining that I'm not receiving their texts, or calls. When I unlock my phone, I'll suddenly get a bunch of texts.
I'm able to make calls and texts, and receive them when my phone is open and unlocked.
I'll include all the information on my phone below:
Status:

Signal Strength - -108 dBm 32 asu
Mobile network type - LTE

[Q] No signal or No service on Samsung Galaxy S

I noticed that my galaxy was sluggish & decided to preform the solution here: hemorrdroids.net, speed up your Samsung galaxy S
now in the process, i got it wrong several times whiles flashing with the odin. when I finally got it right and reinstalled the firmware, the phone displays a no service notification, but show the name of the network chip in it. no signal bars as if it were locked. I bought it as unlocked phone. now I cant even search for a single network in my country. when u do a manual search, it returns nothing. if u try the dialer it says not registered to network..
does anyone know how to get my signal a GPS working?? please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmm... I've got the same problem as you... Flashed docs to my Galaxy S Yesterday and now it show no service notification.... Anyone who have a got an idea?
I am also facing the same problem. Any one who has solved it ?
Got the same problem, from 1 day i have notification (no service)
Got the same problem plz plz some one helpp
Not sure if it's the same problem you folks are having, but there's a thread on here entitled "Problem with Airplane Mode on Epic after installing midNight ROM" that describes a problem with no signal after a ROM flash, and a solution via using Odin to update just the modem.
I would post a link, but the forum here won't let me because I don't have enough posts. Your mileage may vary, but the symptoms sound similar so it might give you a place to start even if the fix doesn't fix you.
I too am having the same problem. It seems that my Phone (Galaxy SC-02b) does not recognize the modem/internal antena.
I installed the Darky's Rom on it, and it runs great. Except the signal part. I can flash it back to the original, but I want to see if I can make it work.
I think it's just a matter of picking out the correct modem tar, but I can't find the right one. My phone is a little bit odd, It's a Japanese Galaxy, so not sure if I can find it here. Unfortunately my Japanese is not good enough to go scouring the japanese forums.
Thanks for any help.
Hey Yefimenko what 3G bands are used in Japan 1900/850 or maybe 900/2100 or 1700/2100 ? Can you find that out ? then you need to flash modem that supports that , Europe support 900/2100 US/Canada/Australia 850/1900 and AWS 1700/2100 Tmobile US /Wind? mobilicity Canada
Hitec
We've been through all of this before the Japanese phones will only work with the Japanese kernel. Symptoms are usually sin not recognized and no radio signal. Either the phone.apk is bad or the modem is incompatible.
You could try the http://romkitchen.org/ and make an update with different modem only.
If your Samsung Galaxy S displays no network/no signal, or emergency calls only, try the following things:
1. flash the device again with the modem image (download the firmware of your device from samfirmwares.com, delete everything from the .tar file except modem.bin, and then flash this file to the phone with Odin (you can get Odin and instructions from that site too)
2. maybe your nv_data.bin file or /efs directory got corrupted, make a backup of the folder, then simply delete nv_data.bin, it will be recreated for you on Galaxy S.
For this, you’ll need root. If you have a root-enabled kernel, like the Voodoo lagfix kernel, you only have to install the Superuser app and Busybox on the phone, download the Android SDK to your PC, install platform-tools in the SDK manager, go to the platform-tools directory and start adb shell.
In the shell, type su, wait for the Superuser prompt to appear on the phone (if it does not appear, open the Superuser app and try executing su again), enable root access for the command. Now go to /efs, copy everything to for example /sdcard/efs, then rm nv_data.bin.
Reflashing the device with a kernel and checking “phone EFS clear” in Odin also works (make sure you made a backup of the EFS folder just in case).
3. you can try changing the CSC (to XEO for Europe): enter *#272*imei# on the phone tab. Note: this will reset your phone to factory settings, so make sure you did a clockworkmod backup before this. Incorrect CSC setting may cause MMS not working also.
4. check if you inserted the SIM card correctly
Thanks

No Network after change of CSC - is there a recovery strategy?
SOLVED
======
Asked around and it goes like this: 2.1 + market = no signal, (2.2 or 2.3) + market = no problem
Solution is UPGRADE from 2.1. to 2.2 or better - I hope this will help anyone else with the same problem.
If you can't do it yourself, any mobile shop will for a small fee.
Symptoms
========
Changed CSC from KSA to XSG with code *#272*HHMM# for 2.1 (no Market in KSA mode)
Galaxy S GT-I9000 now shows blue circle with diagonal in notification area at top of screen.
Settings > Wireless and network > Mobile networks Network mode > Network operators > Search Networks or Select Automatically produces no response - finds no networks.
Dialpad dial a number => "Not registered on network"
Coincidental hardware failure seems very unlikely but not impossible I suppose.
What I would like to know is if there is a recovery strategy from here?
Even if it includes installing a complete new firmware? (and possibility to revert to original if required for warranty)
Device does not respond to "3-finger salute" (volume-home-power).
I am not confident that a warranty is worth all that much in this part of the world. It may be quicker and more effective to do it myself.
Further details of history and phone info below.
I will be very grateful if anyone can help me out
History
=======
Phone purchased in Saudi Arabia (KSA). Worked fine with pre-paid SIM (mobily) voice, data, sms, wifi.
Phone also worked fine with a pre-paid sim (cosmote whatsup) in Greece - voice, data, sms, wifi.
However, since phone was purchased in KSA, Android Market was not installed. Found a Market.apk and installed that. Installs but doesn't actually work.
Found code for changing CSC (*#272*HHMM# for 2.1, *#272*[IMEI No]# for 2.2) 2 colleagues had success and no problems with this with a Tab and 2 Ss, albeit with 2.2. The code looks worth a try on 2.1 so I gave it a go.
Had to remove the side-loaded Market before the code would run and changed the CSC from KSA to XSG.
Market pops up on the screen and works fine.
BUT no network. Network name shows in the Notifications though. The GR SIM shows "(No Service)"
Factory reset, returning CSC to KSA do not help.
The mobily SIM works fine in other phones but no known good SIM works in this phone.
Mobily tech support (in store visit, usually commpetent guy who knows me) is completely flummoxed and asks me if I have a warranty.
So now I have a very compact WiFi only tablet

Solution to your problem
Hi All,
This happened to me before and I was as frustrated as you and when I was about to give up, I tried one last restoration, but only this time I did it correctly. After that, I restored 5 different versions of Samsung Galaxy S stock ROM back to my Samsung Galaxy S. One of these versions were Chinese, and everything was in Chinese.
Samsung Galaxy S had no signal was because the modem file was missing while you were performing the restoration.
Now, all you have to do is go to this page and follow the instructions to restore the Stock ROM back to your Samsung Galaxy S.
same problems
Hi guys, I have same problem. But a litle diffirent.
When I use 2.3.6 firmware version it's work well no problem. But when I use 4.x.x Rom it says no network and no imei. If I use 4.x.x om pluged the charge my device ,I see gsm company and imei number. It's very interesting. I think , electricty not enough for my device. Maybe Its hardware problems. I 'dont any idea.
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks.

basically my problem was, I flashed 10.1 a few days ago...lost all services of any kind except data. I got a new sim...no luck..odin'd back to stock...then dialed a *# number and was able to get roaming data and voice even though my IMEI was showing as zero. Repair the imei via a tool here however i've been stuck roaming since. I'm back on CM 10.1 and have selected those options you selected.

MEID (all zeroes)
ERI not displayed in this version, however it is showing as none in stock

Hmm ... and you are sure it's unlocked?
After flashing a stock ROM, it may be locked again.
Ok, if it's unlocked, please check this All-in-One thread for your device first.
There you will find links to modem/radio threads.
What you described is usually caused by a locked phone or a "bad" modem/radio.
So flashing another modem may help ... if the phone is unlocked.
And if you have further questions about this device, you can ask in the general help thread.
EDIT:
Just in case you are not sure if it's unlocked, check this thread about how to unlock your device.

[Q] Mobile Network Not Available after ROM Failure - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3

I would appreciate a little help with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy Phone:
Detail:
I have been trying to load ROMs on my Phone for 2 months. I had success with rooting the phone via OneClick several months ago. Yesterday I tried for the 50th time to load to ROMs to no avail (Status 6 & 7 errors. The beta CM tool never worked for me as well Mac and Win)). I recovered back from Nandroid back up and begin to see the com.google.playservices error on a constant bases as well as no network signal. I flashed back to factory settings and completed another restore of my Nandroid backup. This cleared the goggle errors. I continue to have problems with my network reception (WiFi Works Great). I actually called Sprint and was given the MSL Code to reset the phone. When I enter the code and press OK - nothing happens - its as if the OK button is locked.
Update to PRL, Profiles, and Firmware result in an error code of 407. Samsung Software is up to date. Flashing the radio did not work. I tried all of the Samsung code settings prior to calling Sprint as well.
Details:
- Model SPH-L710
- Android Version 4.4.2
- Baseband Unknown
- Kernel Version 3.4.0-1368792
- Build KOT49H.L710PUDND8
Status:
- Mobile Network Type is Unknown
- Service state is out of service
- Mobile state is disconnected
- Phone number unknown
- MEID, IMEI, ICCID, and PRL Version - all are unknown
I would appreciate any assistance as I have researched and read all material - please.
Thanks

your efs partition appears to be jacked up, that's what usually causes all of those "unknown"'s. it happens some times when flashing roms.
im guessing you didn't make an efs backup previously?
there may be a way to fix this, but sorry, other than restoring the efs data, i don't know how.

After restoring from lost IMEI problems with cellular network

After I tried to flash Oxygen OS some weeks back and loosing IMEI and WiFi with that, I was able to recover my IMEI and WiFi is working, too. However I have huge problems with the cellular network: I don't have any data transfer when I am not on HSDPA+, and the phone doesn't switch to GSM anymore.
Here's what I did:
1) Installed ColorOS using the help of the No IMEI/WIFI/BASEBAND? thread and got WiFi back
2) Flashed Kitkat (33R) with fastboot and got cellular network back (somehow)
3) OPO started to automatically update using OTA in several steps up to latest Lollipop with 230 modem - no more cellular network
The status bar shows the "SIM card missing" icon, switches to the empty triangle then to the filled triangle and immediately back to the "SIM card missing" icon in a constant loop.
4) Flashed 44S modem with TWRP 2.8.6.0 -> status as above: only data connection in HSDPA+ mode, no data connection in HSDPA and no connection at all otherwise
I am using the German E-Plus network.
I was trying all kinds of modems and tips. I tried the above procedure many times. This post is my last try ...
Any help is highly appreciated.

Just flash "fastboot images" of either latest CMOS12 or CM11S or OxygenOS
The guide is available as a sticky thread in general section
If issue unsolved, flash different modem zip available in general section(use search option or index thread)
