My battery lasts about 6 hrs without use-is it the battery or the phone - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had a S6 since about 2014/15, somewhere around there. I've had problems with battery for a long time, but now, my battery only lasts for about 5-6 hours of sleep, and maybe 45min of use. I factory reset my phone and my problem remains. I then downloaded accubattery and it says that my battery is 86% of stock capacity. Does anyone know what my problem is? Is the battery bad?

Sounds like you definitely need the battery replacing

You could try to calibrate the battery. Basicly tells the Phone when its properly charged and discharged.
Just Google Galaxy S6 battery calibration and the first answer is your manual.

Battery Percentage Giving Wrong Stats?

Last night I left the house with about 40% left on my battery. By the time I went home, my Sensation was completely drained. This was within 3 hours, which should not drain it to 0%, especially since it was asleep most of the time.
When I got home and I plugged it in, I booted it up and surprisingly, it booted up with 42%. Before plugging in it had no power left, and the phone wouldn't boot at all. I wiped my battery stats yesterday morning too, after charging it to 100% for a few hours.
Seems like my battery stats are VERY wrong right now, and I just wiped it again after charging it to 100% and leaving it there for a while. Does anyone else have this problem? I know some people are having random stats popping up here and there, but this still had 30% juice left before it just died out. Never happened before. I was able to nearly fully drain it just 3 days ago too (100-5%).
Charge to full, wipe again, and drain to about 5%. Charge full and repeat. It usually takes a few cycles to correct battery stats.

I'd also recommend this application from the market for battery calibration, although you need root.

Alright, thanks, I'll try that. Hopefully it gives me an accurate reading

4.1.2 Jelly Bean battery HELP!!!

Hi! So I've been using this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009 for about 3 weeks now and I'm very happy with it but I've noticed my battery has been really really bad! Here's a screen shot and this was on a full charge :\
I replied on the thread with the screen shot but no one answered.
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it
You need to check in better battery stats and see if your getting a wake lock. Read on google or xda how certain wakelocks can be bad. You can isolate the app causing the wake lock by using better battery stats and then fix the situation. Also could be the rom but likely it's a wakelock. Once you fix your issue, it will be much better. You can get better battery stats at the market or here on xda. Best wishes.

I'm having the same problem with the same ROM, I just installed a few hours ago.
18.18: 99%, stopped charging.
18.26: 89% battery left.
18.31: 84% battery left.
18.46: 72% battery left.
18.49: 70% battery left.
Until now I have used stock 4.0.3, and never experienced anything like this. I did barely touch my phone during these 30 minutes. It still has S-ON, could this be why?

No, S-ON/S-OFF has nothing to do with battery life. In your case though, since you said you just installed the ROM a few hours ago, you need to do about 3 full charge cycles before you start worrying about your battery life.
Drain the battery right down (not completely dead though, 10% is enough), charge to 100% and repeat a few times. Then if you are still getting bad battery life you can start looking at what is actually draining the battery.

Battery issue after 4.1.2 update

Recently I've updated my Note through OTA to 4.1.2.
I've spot that after update the Note is just draining the battery.
I could read about 10 hours on it before, and now it is only about 6 !!!!!
I even do not mention gaming, which is draining the battery in 2.5-3h from 100% to about 5%. I could play approx. 5-6 hours before.
It's ridicules.
Did any of you spot the same thing?
I haven't installed any additional apps after update that may "help" to discharge the battery.
The values above are based on Screen usage time in Battery menu.
Any suggestions?
After the update, I'm facing recharging issues. The tab is taking twice the time of what it used too to recharge to 100%.
i haven't spot any issues with charging.
.
Same here.Used to get 10 hours of screen on time, now i am lucky if i get 8 hours!

Same here...
Some tips :
Kill all apps, switch to offline/airplane, and power saving mode when charging..
Still not working?
Try reboot your device once or twice if necessary..
And your device will charge normally
Work on my gnote...
I hope it will work for you too
Correct me if i'm wrong
Im using juice defender with good results, I lost a pretty noticeable amount of battery time after 4.1.2, too.
Maybe a problem with the battery stats?
Try to drain the battery empty and full charge afterwards.

It will damage the lithium battery when you drain it till empty
I think it is Wi-Fi that drains the battery !!!!
Usually I was leaving the tablet with wi-fi on all the time. After 4.1.2 update it takes approx 2% of battery per hour !!!!!!!!!! when you do not use the tablet but wi-fi is on, so after night in the drawer you had approx 10-15% drained.
When I turned the wi-fi off and left it overnight i haven't loose even a 1% during the night !!!!!
I have to try to work on it as usual but with wi-fi turned off, it will be difficult though as usually i play on-line or browsing the net
I think they f#^%*d something in 4.1.2 update with wi-fi energy consumption. hope they will repair it in next update.

I mean, just let the device turn off by itself, and after that, charge 100%.

Yeah, I had this problem after I updated too. It was also laggy. I did a factory erase and now it works better. I think it is still draining more than before, but not as bad as after I updated. I think a good rule of thumb is to wipe everything after an update and start all over. You could also try wiping and flashing the rom for a fresh install.
I suggest you to change your rom to germany stock 4.1.2...
It will solve your charging problem
Tested on my gnote

[Q] Battery problem

Hey guys I am a long time Android enthusiast. I have one of the most popular Samsung devices which is the Samsung Galaxy fit. The problem with my Samsung Galaxy Fit is the battery. Earlier before any tweaking battery used to be normal. After I installed CM7(official build). My battery started draining randomly. At first it was ignorable but then the problem became severe. From 100% it would drop to 88% in just 2 mins use and then from 88% it wud drop to 70% in another 5 mins and the entire phone would be dead in just 3 hours at best. When I would charge the phone again the battery will also be charged randomly going from 5% to 20% and then 20% to 40% all this in just 10 mins. In no less than 20 mins would my phone be 100% charged but that's fake as the battery would drain from 100% to 0% in three hours.
Following are the solutions are tried
Changed the batter, used a brand new original battery(FAIL - DID NOT WORK)
Flashed stock Rom (FAIL - PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS)
Changed Charger (FAIL)
Recharged battery on a different phone and then inserted the battery in fit (FAIL)
If anyone has any solution please let me know. I AM ALSO WILLING TO DONATE IF PROBLEM GETS SOLVED.

Hope this will help you..
1. after flashing custom ROMS, back to recovery or CWM then wipe the battery stats.
2. calibrate the battery while device is on, i ussually use Mugen Power app (install app, choose the standard battery, charge until 100% then click calibrate, after that use the device until the phone is dead then charge until 100% again while device is off).
other Calibration apps ussually have the same steps like the steps i mentioned above, so just use one app..
3. if you still having the battery drain, maybe you should go check the hardware in some technician, coz it could be the hardware that has the problems.

[Q] New Battery Calibration

I bought a new battery for my oneplus one from vifocal.com and I think its original battery. The battery seems to be very poor. I use my phone for 1,5 hours from which the screen is on for about 1 hour and the battery has drained down to 50%. Yesterday as my phone went to zero I turned it on in recovery mode to keep the screen on as long as possible to really kill the battery and the screen stayed on for at least 2 hours. How is that possible if the battery indicator shows already 0%. Anyways I believe the battery drops down to 0% even really there is a lot of juice in the battery. Is there anyway to calibrate the battery so it would show the correct percentage and is there anyway to tell how big is the battery really? whether I got a fake one or not. thanks

I've had an opposite issue few times - phone was shutting down while it was show that it still had battery (20% was the worst case). I fixed it by discrharging fully, then letting the phone charge all trough the night. this was the recommendation that I found on OPO forums from someone from their team.
